The good was the ambiance, food, location, and the day staff was awesome! However my boyfriend and I was scammed by a worker who claimed to have his own tourist company. Talk about an overpriced ride from hell from Christopher. Im all for a good time and love Jamaica... will I be back, of course, but to be soliticed and scammed by the staff was not on our to do list. This is the cutest resort! Airs on the side of the retired and family centric community, but even as a solo traveler I enjoyed myself. They have activities every evenings and the staff are very accommodating. My room was spacious with a comfortable bed and my room was kept clean. It is a bit off the beaten path, so far from the city and night life. read more

I LOVE IT HERE. It's our second year going . It has everything you could think of on site . It's like a cruse ship they have an itinerary daily , shuttles to beaches and island tour ( free) , brunch, wine night, music nightly, activities, 2 bars and 2 restaurants on site, spa and laundry onsite . Store and gift shop onsite . Behind the hotel is even captain Allen's boat charters. It's situated directly beside dawn beach . Check the sargassum situation however in the summer (fb) the food at the restraunt is top notch and they have happy hour every evening as well . Freebies also , mimosas ( for orientation Sunday am ,rum punch during steel pan music and of course wine night . Beach towels provided and the air conditioner works GREAT... I stay hot so that's a big one . I can't recommend enough . We did rent a car from starlite for the second time but it's like 150 for the week . Would not recommend anything bigger than like a sedan ( Camry sized ) as the roads are thinner and parking spots small . Water at pool is also provided they just really care about their customers . It's mostly an older crowd . This is not someplace for college students to party for sure . Most have been coming for 20+ years. Do a 90 minute meeting about their timeshares and you can get free things like snorkeling tours,50$ toward food ect . Well worth it To add: I've stayed twice a family member is a timeshare owner for 30 years. This time we came just my husband myself and my 2 year old . Read other reviews . Staff is nice , they do not play music anywhere from 2-9 not loud at all and very relaxing . I've loved the food here both times we eat here every night and we get it quickly . As of right now I'm having an ok time. The only negative thing I would say is the Dominican bartender with the patriots tat on his arm is a complete d*ck! 100% a*s hat. The food is overpriced and doesn't taste that great. We went to maho beach where the food AND drinks were actually cheap and really good! Rent a car or take a taxi to the other side. Absolutely the worst experience that I have had in any hotel around the world. (According to them: "that's just how the cookie crumbles") Horrible customer service, food was sub par and took more than 2 hours to receive dinner, this was in a nearly empty dining room. We thought breakfast would be better, it technically was by about 20 minutes. Hated to even go back, but there are no other options close by and they are very aware of that factor when taking advantage of you! Additionally we Love reggae music; however playing from 2pm to 9pm as loud as you can in the middle of the hotel just isn't it when you are trying to relax, maybe by the beach or pool would have been nice! Please do yourself, your family and your vacation experience and favor and stay as far away from this place as you can. read more

The beach was terrible. You could not get near it. There was 30-40ft of seaweed stretching out into the water. My family had to take a cab to the west coast of the island to get to a decent beach. I checked out 2 days into my 4 day trip and they penalized me a nights stay. That's great! They can't provide you with the service you paid for, but you're getting screwed twice if you leave early. I stayed at Simpson beach resort my last two nights. Very professional staff and their beach was what a vacation is supposed to look like. I highly recommend Simpson Bay as a quality alternative. read more

We feel home away from home at the Oyster Bay Beach Resort! Four years ago I came here with my mom and my husband and enjoyed our weekly stay so we decided to come back for so many reasons. This resort is a hidden gem in the Dutch side try it and you will not regret it. 1.-The staff is super friendly always willing to go the extra mile to ensure guests are completely satisfied and relax. We met Irlau, Hudson, Rojan and Mark four years ago . We are glad to see familiar faces and be welcomed. 2.- Each day the OBBR has activities set up for guests just in case you don't want to venture out in the island. Everything from bingo, movie night, local vendors, life music along with a welcome and farewell party. 3.- Lauren, the fitness instructor of Aqua aerobics and Zumba will make sure you work out all the extra calories at 8:30 by the poolside. 4.- The resort is immaculate clean and well maintained. The units come equipped with a full kitchen, sofa bed, balconies and if you choose a studio you still get a mini kitchen with all essentials and a balcony. 5.- The cleaning maids change the towels each day and keep the unit organized and clean. 6.- There are several restaurants in the resort such as Infinity and Beaus Beaus. Big Fish, Canoa, Mr. Busbys, Island Pizza and Daniel by the Sea are literally next door and offer local and international cuisine. We are delighted to have returned and are planning our next trip in April back to the Oyster Bay Beach Resort! Keep up the excellent work! read more

This place is cool. We are staying at the lighthouse condos that is adjunct to the resort , highly recommend to get a condo , 3 bedroom huge , real luxury . Views are awsome , restaurants next door on the beach also not bad. The condos have a qute private pool on the roof , this is really fun, highly recommended . read more

This Resort is tucked away on a spit of land next to Dawn beach about 1/2 hour drive from the airport. The time share units are very well maintained & they have a lovely lagoon style pool. Unfortunately, the beach is covered with Sargassum seaweed in the Spring & is not useable. The restaurant on the property is just OK but there are some good restaurants within a 15 minute drive. Hot water in bath/shower is an issue although we ran the water for 1/2 hr, it never got to body temp. Most of the staff was very accomodating. read more

In all my travels for business and pleasure, I've never come across such TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and horrible attitudes at any resort in ANY other country I've traveled! Smh The workers seem to be very disgruntled and take their frustrations out on paying customers The rooms are not updated or as "nice" as they suggest and watch out for the small insects/bugs running around the room. The rooms need a real deep cleaning w BLEACH! For it to be called a Beach Resort is delusional considering there is no beach you can lay on or swim in. The water is covered in seaweed and there is nowhere to lay. The amenities are scarce and not many options in restaurants. You shd consider going off the resort. If you do decide to stay here (good luck) I'd suggest getting a rental. It'll be cheaper than paying for the taxis to get around (there are no Ubers on the island). Unless it's free, you are not getting what you're paying for on this resort. I didn't expect to pay my hard earned money to walk on eggshells and inconvenience the staff when I had a question or attempt to order a drink. Ask for clean towels and the response be "for what???" Why else wld do ppl need clean towels??? Smh The terrible "what do you want" attitudes from the staff was enough for me to never return here! The island counts on tourism to boost their economy, you wld think that staff wld be just a little polite or pretend to be a bit more courteous considering you're paying out of pocket for everything I hope that management takes notice to this review and will take the time to train the employees to fake a smile and pretend to care abt the customers. This was not "spring break" for us, we are all professionals in our 40s looking to relax not be treated like an inconvenience! You could have made more money this past week considering we were a pretty large group (6ppl). We all left the resort knowing we'd never be back. It's a shame.... read more

My parents have been coming to OBBR for almost 20 years. This was my second time. Once before the hurricane and once after. Many changes, the beach was full of seaweed which I know they cannot control, and the food was very overpriced considering everything down to a bottle of fresh water costs money and they only have two places to eat within walking distance. The "90 minute" timeshare tour took up half of our day which was not fun considering it was hot and we were two feet from the pool, and we were already there under ownership. I would recommend if you want to spend gold to have silver however, the staff was probably some of the best parts. read more

We love it here! It is close to Orient, the butterfly farm and many good restaurants. There is an okay market Fair selection of goods but a little expensive compared to larger markets) and several restaurants within walking distance. We love Stardocks, Daniel's, and Beau Beau's. There is a boasted chicken stand added also. It makes for a cheap and easy meal to have back in your room. The beach was good this year (to much seaweed in 2015!). The infinity pool is nice. We have never eaten at Infinity-seems pricey. Watch out for "Joe Slick", as we liked to call him. He is the guy in the booth before you enter the area trying to sell you a deal on a timeshare. he tried to wave us over with his dazzling smile and gift cards. We smiled and waved and kept on going! We don't get into the tickets and the raffle at OBBR. We would rather explore the island ourselves or sit on the beach all day. read more

Overall the resort is beautiful & have a lot of activities to do such as raffles, karaoke & different excursions (zip lining/ ATVs, etc). The room was clean & well kept. This resort is great if you're into traveling across the world to sit at a pool and eat mediocre food. The island has so much to offer and at the oyster bay you are miles from all the fun and island life. We came here for our honeymoon and decided to give the Infinity restaurant a try... the ceviche was served with a side of popcorn... half of it flew away as they brought the dish over. Needless to say I am no food connoisseur but you would expect better form an "island restaurant". Later we also ordered a bottle of wine (on the cheaper side... don't judge we are newlyweds hehe) but they didn't have it and proceeded to recommend a few $70 bottles instead as replacements. Lastly, the room was nice however fully bug infested (even after the resort sent notices of insect spraying for two days in a row) all in all... if you're into the retirement life at a resort after flying across the world, this is the place for you. If you are adventurous and want to explore all that the island has to offer and make the best of your vacation I would recommend a place like grand case or Anse Marcel much more for your Caribbean vacation! We were fooled by the great reviews on this resort and regretted our stay immediately. read more
