We ordered the pork bone soup + chicken katsu combo, and I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the best chicken katsu I've ever had. We did the half-and-half, including the onion cream chicken, and wow. The chicken was insanely juicy--my boyfriend pointed out it's probably because they use chicken thigh, and yep, it is thigh. You can really tell they actually care about the quality of the chicken. They also had promotions going on, so our total bill came out to around $60, which is crazy for the amount and quality of food we got. Everything tasted fresh, comforting, and well done. For $17 with rice, banchan and a side of veggies and two pieces of fried chicken. I LOVED the fish cake soup. I added tofu to it. It was very filing in fact I couldn't finish it but I loved the 5-6 diff types of fish cake plus there was the ddokbokki or Korean rice cake. It's a really simple fish broth but I really loved it. B and I felt like having Korean fried chicken for dinner. I went on UberEats and went through the options. Seems like Oz Korean had a pretty good deal at that time. With any purchase of $40 and more you get a small order of KFC for free (valued at around $16.50). I went ahead and ordered a padak chicken, sweet chili chicken and an appetizer size Dduckochi. The flavor of their chicken was not bad. However, in terms of crispiness and crunchiness, it was not wow. The color of the batter was a bit off. The worse was the Dduckochi. It was super hard and almost inedible. It was pretty nasty and do not recommend ordering it. Portion size is a bit on the smaller end given their prices. It was nice that the regular fried chicken came with a side of mustard. The mustard was pretty good which was a nice touch. However, I think the restaurant misread my order and charged me for a padak chicken but didn't give me the padak chicken or unless the padak chicken tasted like the regular chicken. I went here about a month ago to get lunch. I was happy to see lunch specials it was huge. I ordered Hot Pot and Bibimbap Combo it came with 4 side dishes and soup. This included tofu, radish, pork ribs, fried chicken with salad. It was quite a surprise seeing food coming out fast. Pork rib was grilled with torch, fried chicken was pretty good and radish came in plenty of amount. Everything seemed perfect until Sundubu came out. I asked for less spicy soup which came out as medium spicy for my liking. My gut is SO sensitive with spicy food. I felt sick after eating the soup because it was overpowering and too spicy. Ordered via UberEats and got a small sized regular chicken for free. Wow the size of this is so small. It should be around half the large size but it is about 1/4. Not sure if they do this normal for small sizes or they give less for the free item. The regular chicken taste good. Hidden gem in Coquitlam. Two of us ordered pork katsu, half order of fried chicken and seafood tofu soap. These are the three most recommended on the menu. Pork is very juicy and not overly oily, the fried chicken used dark meat so it was juicy and flavourful, again not too greasy. The seafood tofu soup tastes like what I had in Korea, it is pretty spicy tho so don't order it if you can't handle it. Service is fast and servers made good recommendations. Craving korean fried chicken or korean soups in Coquitlam? Then Oz is the place to go! There are very little korean restaurants near Coquitlam Center and Oz is personally one of the better ones. Although I don't go to Oz often, it is definitely an affordable and decent place to get korean food. We ordered the Gamjatang (pork bone soup) and half boneless original fried chicken. We came in at 6pm sharp on a Monday night and got seated immediately. Around 6:30pm, there was a wait line forming. The meal came pretty quickly and together (within 5-10 minutes after ordering). There were also 2 side dishes served which I forgot to take a picture of! There were white radish and kimchi. The white radish was both sweet and refreshing, while the kimchi had a strong sweet/sour taste and was not too spicy. The highlight of the pork bone soup were the 3 pork bones. They were massive and filled with meat! If you like getting your hands dirty, then this is a must try! But the spicy Dduckibokki (spicy rice rolls with fish cake) tea doesn't help, but the copious of cold water does really help. Ordered 2 main dishes and 1 appetizer. The Dduckibokki, Japchae (glass transparent noodles with beef), and the 6-piece Gyoza. Of the 3 items I ordered, they were all definitely will please restaurant patrons. If you don't enjoy a little spicy, I don't recommend the Dduckibokki. You can request mild spice, but it may not be suitable for those who can't handle the Spice. But if you enjoy spicy food, then I totally recommend the Dduckibokki. As long as you have cold water by your side, you will be fine. The Japchae is a good choice. Kimchi, daikon radish and salad (which has something that tastes like a 1000 island dressing on top) are both complementary with the KFC. Overall, this place has great food and pricing, although if you come on a busy week night or weekend, it may be a bit busy. DDUCKOCHI $5.00 All the dishes arrived fairly quick and the first item we tried were the skewered rice cakes. The rice cakes exhibited a perfect level of chewines - neither too mushy nor stiff and the sweet chili sauce paired well. There were also hits of sweetness and a medium level of spiciness, I loved the flavours! The rice cakes were so addictive! DEEP FRIED SQUID $12.00 To contrast with the rice cakes, the crispy fried squid was very light, puffy and airy, resembling shrimp chips. At first I wanted the typical crispy exterior and chewy squid, but I got used to this. BBQ RIBS LA $15.00 Moving towards a Korean staple, barbecue meat, I am a huge fan of galbi ribs over LA cut because I have never experienced tasty LA ribs before. However these were pretty darn good, the ribs were well marinated with soy sauce, exhibited a hint of sweetness and tasted tender as well as juicy. The ribs tasted so delicious on its own and usually I NEED char, but it was good without. HALF AND HALF FRIED CHICKEN $21.00 Up next is the impressive chicken, half fried and half fried with dakgangjeong. The crispy chicken was well rendered where the skin adhered to the skin after each bite, and was not greasy one bit. Moreover, the juicy chicken tasted great on its own fried or with the sweet chili sauce. Personally I always find dakgangjeong a bit overwhelming, but this had just enough sweetness as I did not find it overbearingly sweet. The fried chicken won me over as the seasoning was flavourful and on point though. BOSSAM $17.00 Last of the proteins is the bossam, which was probably the best I have had. The slices of pork belly literally melted in the mouth and appeared truly slow simmered. The pork was also well seasoned and exhibited a touch of sweetness. Good bossam is so hard to find in Vancouver, thank you Oz Korean! KIMCHI FRIED RICE $9.50 To conclude our meal with another great dish is the kimchi fried rice. All the ingredients were properly fused together and this was not just a quick toss as there were strong notes of kimchi and blended flavours. The rice also exhibited a nice chewiness and had a perfect texture. All the dishes we ordered at Oz Korean were delicious! I could not stop raving about this restaurant after my first visit and have you seen the prices? Korean food is known to be on the pricier end unless you are dining with a group of four, but the prices at Oz Korean are a lot cheaper than usual. So with good food and cheap prices, of course I had to revisit and try more items on the menu! TENDERLOIN KATSU DON $12.00 Continuing to cover more items on the menu, the katsu was fried where it was crispy although it was also very oily. On top of that, the batter was not adhered to the tenderloin and the meat was dry as well as crumbly and tasted unappealing. HALF AND HALF BONELESS CHICKEN $21.00 The opposite of dry and unappealing is the boneless chicken which was crispy and juicy. Also similar to the first visit, the fried chicken seasoning was on point and the sweet chili sauce had the right balance of sweetness. I was not really a fan of the really small pieces though. DDUKBOKKI $10.00 Up next is a different rice cake dish than our first visit and we added cheese for an additional $2.00. The saucy and bouncy rice cakes were very savory and exhibited depths of flavor, which included a hint of sweetness. There were also a few rice cakes thrown in! I am loyal to my dduckochi though, those skewers are a must order! SEAFOOD PANCAKE $17.00 Going for another carb plate, the pancake exhibited a crisp exterior but was very starchy. In addition, the center was not fully cooked through and was raw. Came out here earlier this summer and my brothers and I were looking for some good food to grab late at night and found OZ on yelp. It was just a 10-minute drive from our AirBnb so we called in, ordered over the phone (2 orders of the 1/2 and 1/2 regular and spicy chix), and ventured out to pick it up. The place is on the corner in DT Coquitlam, so it was difficult to find parking. Thank goodness there were three of us, so two of us got out, and the other circled around whilst we picked up our food. When we came in, the staff greeted us and were very friendly and we told them we called in the order, which they happily bagged up for us, and sent us on our way. It smelled good from the get...and we couldn't wait to get back to our pace to devour these delicious-smelling treats. When we actually had them, man oh man, we absolutely loved them! Like most others, I liked the Spicy more than the sweet ones, but they were also very good. We loved this place so much that we went two more times during our 7 day stay in Canada, and I recently recommended OZ to a few friends who were up there recently and they also loved it! The pictures aren't the best, but you get the picture. Good food! Pricing is not too bad on the wallet. Service is good since the staff have a good view of everyone. We also had a platter of mixed katsu, so there were several types of meat. If I had to choose though, I felt like the chicken was the better deal. The seafood pancake was nice and crispy too, which met my criteria. It was cooked evenly through and was not mushy in the middle. Got takeout and delivery from Uber eats. Food arrived in a timely manner. Order the half and half boneless chicken. I love that they have a boneless and a with bone option. I find their sweet chilli too sweet and the batter for the fried chicken too chewy. I am not sure if it had to do with it being takeout. I find BBQ chickens better. I love their cabbage slaw. It is so light and airy. Too bad it wasn't done in so no extra refills. We order their tenderloin tonkatsu with rice. The tonkatsu looked good but the meat lacked flavour and we really needed the tonkatsu sauce for me. The japchae is quite standard. I went to this place with my sister, i was reading the reviews and decided to give it a try. We ordered the fried chicken ( half and half ) and some noodles. Portions are very generous, the chicken was really crispy and tasty. I prefer the regular fried chicken. This place was busy, so expect to wait a bit. Price was average. read more

Since moving to Coquitlam, this is perhaps one of my favorite Korean Chicken places. The restaurant is a pretty decent size place. Clean with friendly staff. It is really close to walking distance to the mall, and skytrain if you decide to go there via public transit. Pre-Covid, sometimes this restaurant would be very busy, and there was a line-up where you would have to place your name down on a waiting list to get called to be seated. They were on door-dash (however I cannot find them on there anymore.) They still do takeout. Half & Half is probably one my favorites to order because you get a pretty good portion for it's price. The chicken alone is small but they do offer on/off bone - which is nice. If you're a salad person and still a meat eater - I really like salad with soya sauce and chicken. However, 1 time they did forget to give me the soya sauce that goes on the salad in my take-out order. :( read more
