    Donburi set with Uni
    Scott S.

While visiting my Daughter in Prospect Heights we went to Ozakaya. We were seated in the back room past the kitchen which gave off an intimate garden vibe. I got the Donburi set with Uni. Fantastic delight of fresh fish over rice with egg, pickled veggies, tuna slices, and miso. My Daughter got the Kaishin Don, Kanpachi sashimi, and Madai sashimi. Everything was uber fresh. Service was great. Definitely worth a visit.

Grabbed a late night bite before the restaurant closed and it hit the spot! After a long day of shopping and galavanting Brooklyn, we had a hankering for something light, that wouldn't keep us tossing and turning overnight. Ambiance was alive but slightly tight. The Miso Cod was buttery, soft with perfectly crisped skin. Bookmarking this spot as a must- visit the next time I'm in town!

Wow, loved this restaurant! Been wanting to try the donburi bowls for a while since they went viral in Japan but ozakaya offered a very decent alternative in Brooklyn! The donburi set was incredible, as well as the mini omakase. We also got the hamachi collar and it was also extremely flavorful and worth an order. Definitely has become a popular spot and I'm sure they will become more so, so I'd definitely recommend a reservation. The space is smaller but fits well with the restaurant theme. Service was quick and helpful!

My family and I had the most amazing lunch here recently. We came on a weekday shortly after opening and were seated right away. My husband had the kaishin don, I had the Ozakaya donburi set and our girls shared the shoyu tonkatsu ramen. The fish was so incredibly fresh here and the rice was seasoned perfectly. My donburi set also came with dashi broth that the waitress later brought over to pour on top of the leftover rice in my bowl to be enjoyed at the end of the meal. The broth and rice combination was really comforting and satisfying. This dish was something I wanted to try in Japan but did not get a chance to experience when there, so I was excited to try it at Ozakaya. I was really pleasantly surprised by the ramen here as well. Although the pork could have been better/more tender, the broth was rich and seasoned so well and not too salty like other places. Last but not least, the service here was excellent and efficient. I would definitely come back here the next time I visit Brooklyn as there were many dishes on the menu I wanted to try!

My second time at Ozakaya! This place never disappoints. The food is amazing. 10/10 Donburi set with the added uni and crab, mentaiko pasta, geso karaage. Everything is so so delicious, no complaints at all. Staff is attentive and friendly despite it being busy right at open. Ambiance is a modern, clean dinner setting. A bit crowded at times. The back shed area offers bright natural light and I very much prefer that over the darker inside seating. I'll always come back. This place is perfect for a special occasion.

ordered for pickup and they were super busy so it took quite a while, but the lady up front was nice and patient. I got the kaishin don ($45.99 before tax) which is pretty pricey but they gave quite a lot of minced bluefin tuna and ikura. the uni was little but really fresh! the tuna tasted a bit bland. the sushi rice was well seasoned. the bowl was just enough for 1

Been meaning to come here for months and finally had a chance last weekend, and it did not disappoint! Definitely quite pricy, but the fish is very fresh. We ordered: - Kaishin don ($42) - Ozakaya donburi set ($49) - Mentaiko korokke ($14) - 2x Yuzu highball ($14/ea) I feel like the kaishin don serving size was not filling enough for the price, but the ozakaya donburi definitely was for $7 more. The yuzu highball also tasted like a regular whiskey highball with no yuzu flavor, kinda disappointing. Everything else was fantastic though, the croquette was really good too.

Loved everything about this place! Made a reservation for Saturday afternoon (highly recommended!) and was seated immediately in the back of the restaurant with the natural lighting. Service was top notch, with the waitress checking in often. All the food we had was phenomenal, highly recommended. Fried squid 5/5 - portions were small but it was delicious Chirashi 5/5 Ozakaya Donburi 5/5 - everything was delicious, portions were good. broth at the end was yum too Oden 5/5 - loved the broth, all the pieces especially the fishcake was delicious. wish there were 2 of everything Matcha ice cream 4/5 - nice to have a dessert, red bean and matcha always go well together. came with a fried mochi which was ok

The food was absolutely delicious. Everything from the uni ikura don and ozakaya donburi set was super fresh- the uni was very sweet. The servers were also super fast with ordering and the food came fairly quickly. It gets very busy at night, but if you make a reservation it's fine. It does get a little crowded and lively.

Came back today for a friends birthday and the food is just as good as I remember. I decided to be adventurous and try something I haven't tried so I got the Kaisen don and the chirashi set. I liked the one with the uni and toro over rice. The portion was perfect for me and they give you daishi broth after to finish the rice with. Overall service was good, cocktails were pricey $19 each and had a large amount of ice but it was delicious

I reserved for a party of 5 for Saturday lunch, and they seated us in the back room (they had just turned on the heat when we arrived so our hands/feet were a bit cold.) The menu here is so extensive! I have been here three times now and I feel like there's always something different I could get here. Everything I have tried is very solid and has yet to disappoint! I recommend getting a few signature rolls to share. We ordered the Ocean's Lover and Vanderbilt Roll - 5/5, both were super flavorful Shoyu tonkotsu ramen - 4/5 bit on the salty side, however much needed on a cold winter day Sashimi Donburi - we ordered a Toro Don which came with uni and ikura and seaweed wraps. 5/5 stunning presentation, it was so fresh and shareable for the table. Would definitely come back again and try another donburi set!

This was a pretty decent oyakodon bowl. The portion sizes were pretty big and the sides (salad/miso soup) were excellent. The main thing that bothered me a bit was the rice, it was a bit too hard for my liking. The interior is cozy and it was cool to watch all the sushi chefs work their magic.

Good service and clean interior. Appetizers and sushi bowl were great but the sushi was not as fresh in comparison.

Even before the food arrives, the restaurant leaves a strong impression with its stunning Japanese-inspired interior. The space is beautifully designed, blending warmth and elegance in a way that feels both inviting and refined. From the soft lighting to the natural wood accents and thoughtfully arranged decor, everything about the atmosphere feels intentional. It captures the intimate charm of a traditional izakaya while still feeling modern and stylish, making it a wonderful setting for anything from a casual dinner to a more special night out. The food more than lived up to the beauty of the space. One of the first highlights was the salmon onigiri, a dish that proved how satisfying simplicity can be when it is done well. The rice was soft, fresh, and perfectly formed, holding together without feeling too compact, while the salmon added a savory richness that made each bite feel comforting and flavorful. It was balanced, delicate, and deeply satisfying in a way that made it memorable despite its simplicity. The seared salmon salad was another standout. The salmon itself was beautifully prepared, with a lightly seared exterior that gave it a subtle crispness, while the inside remained tender, buttery, and smooth. That contrast in texture made the dish especially enjoyable. Paired with the freshness of the salad, it felt light and refreshing, yet still substantial enough to feel like more than just a side dish. It was a dish that managed to feel both clean and indulgent at the same time. The grilled squid was particularly impressive and easily one of the most memorable items of the meal. Squid can often be difficult to get right, as it can become rubbery or overly chewy if even slightly overcooked, but that was absolutely not the case here. The texture was spectacular--tender, delicate, and pleasantly springy without any toughness. Each bite had a light smokiness from the grill that added depth, while the squid itself retained its natural sweetness. It was expertly prepared and showcased a level of precision that really stood out. For the main courses, both the Tonkatsu Ramen and the Black Pepper Ramen delivered distinct experiences, each with its own appeal. The Tonkatsu Ramen was deeply comforting and satisfying, with a broth that had a rich, velvety texture and a full-bodied depth that coated the palate beautifully. It felt smooth, hearty, and luxurious without being too heavy. The noodles had an ideal texture as well--firm enough to provide a satisfying bite, yet soft enough to soak up the broth and integrate perfectly into the dish. Altogether, it was a bowl that felt warming, balanced, and incredibly comforting. The Black Pepper Ramen, on the other hand, brought a bolder and more assertive flavor profile. The broth had a smooth, glossy texture, and the noodles again had a pleasing chew that gave the dish structure and substance. The black pepper added an unmistakable warmth and aromatic intensity that made the ramen stand out immediately. It was flavorful and memorable, though the pepper was slightly overwhelming at times. A bit less black pepper would have allowed the other flavors in the broth to come through more clearly and created a more balanced bowl. Even so, the ramen was still enjoyable, especially for those who appreciate strong, pepper-forward flavors. Overall, Izakaya Fuku is a restaurant that succeeds on every level. The stunning Japanese interior creates an atmosphere that feels both immersive and elegant, while the food reflects a real attention to detail in both flavor and texture. From the comforting salmon onigiri, to the fresh and beautifully prepared seared salmon salad, to the expertly grilled squid with its exceptional texture, and finally the rich and satisfying ramen dishes, every part of the meal felt carefully executed. It is a place that offers not just excellent food, but a complete dining experience, and it is well worth visiting for anyone looking for standout Japanese cuisine in New York.
