The food is so disgusting here. The chicken had a rubbery consistency, it tasted expired. I couldn't even finish the food and felt sick afterwards. This is just for the banquet! Came here to celebrate a baptism in the family. Blegh. Dingy, outdated and in need of major repairs! The only saving grace was the roasted chicken that was served. It was far better than I definitely expected! It wasn't the best but better than I've had at other banquet halls. I'm very familiar with family style diners (especially at odd hours of the morning), and I have to say the food at P J Klem's was far better than most if not all I've had. I got the portebello mushroom sandwich, and I wished I had eight more after and the stomachs to deal with them. It was fully of tasty marinated mushroom bits, swiss cheese, cream cheese and herbs. It came with a soup as well, and after the soup and fresh hot bread, I couldn't even finish my sandwich, or the fries. My boyfriend got the reuben and enjoyed it as well. Klem's is one of my favorite places to go to when I'm in the Chicago area. They have great staff and you are served a full meal with what ever you order. When I was there they served me a bowl of excellent soup and great bread with my order. One of the best things on the menu are the gyros. The gyros are excellent Chicago style gyros that are overflowing with meat and are delicious. The staff is nice and there is a great casual atmosphere in the restaurant. Over all it's a great experience and I would recommend Klem's to anyone in the area looking for a great meal. read more

If you're visiting and partying with friends in Riverside on a Saturday night, this is a great place just over the bridge to get some Sunday morning hangover medicine, i.e., fried runny eggs, hash browns, sausage and toast. They have other standard diner fare on their lunch and dinner menus as well. If you sleep in, it gets a little noisy/busy around the noon hour with churchgoing families. I fell in LOVE with the family friendly atmosphere when I lived in Lyons with my own children... I have 3 little boys who are VERY energetic and from the time my first was born in 2002 to current they have ALWAYS been VERY accommodating to our brood my first time there as a Mom my son was VERY colicky to the point I thought we were going to be asked to leave... but instead the family matriarch came over and helped me to settle him down & taught me some tricks to getting the gas out of his tummy... They would get us a nice booth to the side when my boys were still breastfeeding so I would not feel subconscious about feeding them in public as I was a young Mom (19, 21 & 22) I can honestly say I have always felt like I was coming home when we go in there... a few weekends ago me & my Hubby went in just the two of us on Sunday and their Cream of Chicken & Rice soup is JUST as good as it ever was... The hash browns with onions were amazing as ever and the eggs Benedict was AWESOME! My old staple for dinner/lunch was always the enchiladas and while not EXACTLY the traditional style they have ALWAYS been delish... I was a little sad this last time when I didn't see their nummy fudge in the desert case... idk if they stopped making it or just didn't have it then... But OMG the maple nut fudge they had was just WOW and I would give ANYTHING to have it again!!! read more

We went there on 2 separate occasions and both times it was a whole lotta "meh". The first time I went I had a greek omelet (I think that's what it was) that was super salty. The second time I had the standard fare (eggs over easy, pancakes, sausage). Nothing special about it. The coffee was nothing special. I also have a pet peeve about coffee creamer. Is it too much to ask for some real creamer, rather than the little tubs of half & half. It never tastes as good with the little tubs. The second visit just confirmed our opinion of the first visit. My husband and I eat at PJ Klem's 2-3 Times a week. Great breakfasts, good grilled pork chops and homemade creamy garlic salad dressing bring us back time and time again. The Greek Chicken is worth the wait. Tulla and her Mom often work the front desk welcoming everyone with hugs. The waitstaff including Denny and Felipe are friendly and efficient. I found this restaurant P.J. Klem's right here in Lyons online and decided to give it a chance since it was highly rated. However when I went in to purchase my food the prices are different than what they charge in the restaurant. I ordered the rise and shine 2 eggs with bacon and it comes with either choice of hash browns or fruit and 2 pancakes or toast. Price on their website is 5.25 was charged 7.50 by the older man that was answering the phones. I then called him and asked did the prices change and he told me that according to what I ordered the price was right. So basically he makes his prices as he goes. He says as much as I got the prices were fair, told me to enjoy my food and then cut me off and hung up the phone. This is not right at all. You can't just charge someone based on how you feel the price should be or is it based off something else? Is it because I am female or was it because I am black? If it's listed as one thing you can't just make a guesstimate. I hate to feel cheated. Does he do this to other patrons or just certain ones? Hmmmmmm read more

Ate here once.......once. The food was nothing to write home about. The hard part for me is I live in Lyons and I see the food scores from the county. PJ Klems is always in the bottom. Two things to note. The post about Hitlers birthday party is completely true, go ahead and google it, secondly someone who worked there tried to commit suicide in the kitchen by cutting his throat, he failed, but left a mess. I couldn't believe my tastebuds when I bit into what I believe was the Bonnie in the Bonnie and Clyde burger combo. Bonnie and Clyde, its like cigs inside, the best combo you can ever have. Or so I thought. Instead, what I bit into was almost definitely horse meat (or at least, beef cut with horse). Made me sick. Believe me. I know my horse meat. I did spot a gorgeous man, looked like favio with sweat pants and a nice dress shirt, but if flavio was a slob. Made my expiernce worthwhile. yeah i also got a hair with a sandwhich around it. Yeah, the french fries are solid. The pizza, excellent. The service was wonderful. But the other patrons were grotesque, I wished I was never born when I looked in their sad, pathetic eyes. i would rate the bonnie was 5/5 the clyde was 5/5 soo all in all a 10/10...divine. I tried to ask for Matlock on the tv but they said the marathon just ended, would have help with fabios mood, he was aroused (i could tell by the tentpole in his sweat pants). I am fond of the staff. I don't care what anyone says, the food here is awesome and inexpensive. the only problem I have is that sometimes the waitresses are so ditzy. Not all the time, but many times they pay more attention to the owner (I assume it is the owner--older guy with glasses) than the customers. I've never eaten here during evening hours, however, only breakfast or lunch. I went to a fundraiser here about a month ago in one of the banquet rooms they have and it was fantastic. Very disappointmented at my first visit to PJ Klems. Had gone to the banquet hall, but not the restaurant. The service was good, yet the food was ok. I ordered a chicken fajita panini with cream of chicken soup. The soup had very little flavor to it. When I received my panini it was missing the chicken and had cream to it which was not specified in the menu. The cream was cream cheese or some other type. Not tasty. My eggs are always super runny when I order over medium always end up getting sunny side up. Staff is nice. Over priced for the quality of food in my opinion. However I will note though, I didn't like my breakfast at all and probably took two bites they offered to correct it but I didn't feel like waiting another 20 mins for food and then to eat it when my table mate was already finished. So i was there for a tribute to a popular radio host, he threw a party at the banquet hall. there was a live band and why does the waitress whose name is "TULA" turns off the lights and disconnects the power in the middle of the song, when people were dancing. The place was rented til' 1am and it was 12:30. This lady was evil and was giving everyone an attitude. BEWARE OF TULA, she has white mushroom hair with glasses, she was a total b!@#$!!!! We asked for the manager and he never came out, She was plain out rude.The hall is very dated, old bathrooms, chandeliers were dirty and it smelled funny. The waitress had a great personality and offered superb service. Gyros are not on the menu, but we ordered them and they were superb - especially for the price. Lots of onions and tomatoes too. We asked for one Greek salad split over 2 plates. What we were served were 2 complete Greek salads! We asked if they had spinach pies (also not on the menu.) The answer, after the waitress asked the owner, was that one of the aunts had recently made a tray of them, but it had all been eaten already. My family and I love going to PJ Klems because the owners and staff always treats us like an extension of their family. My daughters ask to go to PJs whenever we are in the area, and they are instantly greeted with cheers from the owners or waitresses. It almost makes me think of episodes of Cheers where everyone shouts, "Norm!" I'll start by saying I was impressed with the remodel of the restaurant. It's clean, shiny and definitely an improvement over the old "decor", cough, cough. After that it was all downhill. "Meh" doesn't even begin to express how I feel about last night's dinner. We've been going to Klem's off and on over the last 20 years, mostly because our parents swear by it. I've never been all that impressed by the food however, last night hit an all time low that I have to post on. I ordered the baked lasagna. Without a doubt it was the worst meal I've ever been served anywhere. When I order lasagna I guess I expect a square or triangle of a well built lasagna that has shape, keeps it's shape and has sauce, lots of cheese and solid pieces of pasta sheets. Yes, I ordered "to go" but that still comes with an expectation of good food, that actually has all the ingredients in it. The lasagna noodles were chopped up or shredded and all over the container in pieces (I literally drove 3 minutes to my destination to eat) and the container was never tipped over or disturbed. There was possibly a tablespoon of marinara sauce in the entire dish even though I had asked for extra marinara, there was no mozzarella that was findable in taste or texture and possibly a tablespoon of ricotta cheese. The pasta hadn't soaked up the sauce, it wasn't tinged red and it was slimy rather than saucy. What I did taste had absolutely no flavor at all. No Italian seasoning of any kind, no garlic, not even a hint of tomato flavor. The absolute blandest of anything I've ever tasted in my life. Basically it was slimy pasta. Cardboard has more flavor and it's not slimy and questionable. I have to say that no matter what I won't be going back there for anything. It's hardly worth spending money on something that you find is truly inedible and intolerable. read more
