Great service and cool hip ambiance. Drinks were awesome. Avoid everything on the food menu unless it's deep fried and you need it to soak up some alcohol. All 3 burgers were overcooked to the point that my husband couldn't cut his with a fork. He wasn't even asked how he wanted it. My pork belly tacos were good but nothing special. Chips and all 3 salsas were bland and desperately in need of salt and some -ANY kind of spice. Chips were well cooked but also very bland. And all of the above were served at the same room temperature. Honestly thought the kitchen must be across the street,and they had to carry across the street in the winter weather. At least the fried pickles and tater tots were fresh out of the fryer although again on the bland side. The drinks and the service are the only things holding this at a 3 star for me. read more

I came here recently with my husband and my in-laws for the first time, and it was a pretty good experience. This was the first time I had ever been in downtown Brookfield, and it's in a cute area with tons of other bars and restaurants around. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare, but we were lucky enough to find a spot down the street from the restaurant. Upon walking in, I noticed that it was smaller than I expected, but they used their space well because they have a downstairs seating area, as well as an upstairs balcony-type seating area. We were seated in the downstairs area right at the first table when you walked down the stairs, and I quickly noticed that the other end of the downstairs dining room area includes some old-school arcade games, which is pretty cool! It took a bit for our waitress to come, but she was personable and gave good service. It was also EXTREMELY loud when we first sat down, and no one at my 7-person table could hear each other talking, but once the large group near the bar left, it became a lot more chill and manageable. Honestly, this bar reminds me of one that would be in Wicker Park or Logan Square. The menu is pretty limited, but this place seems to have more of a bar atmosphere than a restaurant one. Everyone ended up ordering something different; I ordered the Owl's Original Grilled Cheese ($13) with a side of tots. The grilled cheese was okay, but nothing special and a bit dry. I wish they had put some type of sauce inside, so I ended up putting hot sauce on it to make it a bit more wet. The cheese was good, but I probably wouldn't order this specific item again if I return. The tots were crispy and tasted good. Overall, everyone seemed to enjoy what they ordered. My husband ordered the BLT Salad ($14) and although it looked okay, the chicken wasn't seasoned and it looked like they just threw all the ingredients together and didn't mix anything. Also, the bowl it was in almost made it look like a dog food bowl. Look at the attached photo for proof. After we ordered our food, our waitress told us that they were understaffed for the day and that there was only one cook in the back. Ultimately, she told us to have patience because it might take a bit. Because of this, our food did take a while to come, and everyone's food came at different times. My MIL's food came 5-10 minutes after everyone else got their food. Overall, I would come back, but I don't think I would crave it again. If this place was suggested to me again, I wouldn't be mad, but I would probably try one of the chicken sandwiches next time instead of a grilled cheese. read more

Good food and excellent musical entertainment. Ebony and Ivory band were playing and kept the crowd engaged. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. We ordered a few things to share. We got the veggie tacos with cauliflower because they ran out of avocado. We also had a veggie quesadilla which had big pieces of caramelized onions and cheese. Found ourselves in this area today, and this spot was pretty well reviewed on YELP, so off we went. I kinda felt like I'd stepped into a small college bar. A bit dark. Kind of a split level. We went down to the lower level, where there were several older video arcade games, that were being used by patrons. Nice family vibe there, as there were kids playing the games too. Tasty beer list, and we had a couple. We had Owl BLT and a Shrooms and Chedda burger. We were asked if we wanted Tots, fries, or a small salad with our sandwiches. I got tots, which were fine, and the Missus opted for the salad. Looking at the bill later, i saw that apparently, the salad is an extra charge, so heads up. The Missus thought the BLT was ok but said the Garlic Mayo was a bit overpowering. I thought the burger was fine, but a bit dry. Definitely a full 8oz burger. The Mushrooms were tasty. But burger was a bit bland, tbh. I really did enjoy the vibes of this place though, and would probably come back with our kid to play video games and have some apps and drinks. A super charming and unique location - It's three levels of seating, and you can see each level from the entry. The happy hour drink menu is really affordable, and the bar here is really good - even classic drinks like a vodka gimlet really shine. For me, the star here is the tater tots - the buffalo chicken tater tots were incredibly addictive. I didn't love the southern gentleman sandwich, though, as it was one note and just sickly sweet (no red pepper flakes to be found). This is going to become a regular happy hour hang. read more

ABSOLUTELY LOVE. We stopped here for lunch while we were taking a break from Galloping Ghosts Arcade, which is like maybe 5-10 minutes away? I chose the spot because the menu sounded pretty good. Man, I was so right. The place has like a small downstairs level and sort of an upstairs level. The downstairs has some old school arcade games, which I thought was cool! The upstairs level has board games that you could choose from too. My boyfriend and I ordered the same thing but different sides. We both got the Chipotle Chicken Sammie... AMAZING. I have been thinking of it nonstop. The fries and onion rings were also really good! I loved the fact that there was actually onion in it and not just overly amount of batter (yes, that's happened to us quite often sadly). So cripsy! 1000/10 Service was also really good! Mind you, we came before the rushes, so it was really chill. 10/10 I would come here WAY more often, but sadly it is a bit far out. We went after zoo lights and they were able to accommodate our party of 7 (4 adults and 3 under 2 year olds). We were sat upstairs which I didn't expect with toddlers. Portions were huge, beer menu was great and everything was priced reasonably! The food overall was okay, the chicken needed a little more seasoning but the staff was very welcoming. They is a neat bar restaurant where you can eat at a table or even on a couch with a coffee table. They have tons of board games and other games so this would be nice for a date night, or a family with children. The server was nice, and service was prompt. Do not come here if you're looking for anything remotely healthy to eat. The food is all greasy, heavy, fried etc etc. this is the place to go if you want to eat unhealthy lol. .Neat space, good food, great beer options.  Has 3 levels of seating all within the open layout and arcade machines on the bottom and some cool art. This time we got the fried cauliflower,  southern gentleman chicken sandwich, onion rings, and the good the bad and the bbq burger. The cauliflower was great and came with 3 dipping sauces. The southern gentleman was pretty good but very fried and couldn't taste the chicken as much. The onion rings had a good ratio of onion to breading and were much better than average. I wouldn't say this is a negative, just go in expecting it - almost all the menu is fried or covered in cheese. By the end we felt like death, this was our own fault though and they do have 3 salads on the menu but they are also salads. They had lots of varieties of beers on their menu. We had a kombucha beer, a pumpkin ale, and a stout. Service was great and friendly as well, we'd definitely go back. read more

The Little Owl is our new favorite spot to belly up and unwind. The staff is always so very friendly, the owner makes you feel like you're family. Their specialty cocktails are delicious and the beer selection is extensive. Don't get me started on the Pork Belly Tacos! YOU MUST TRY THEM! They are delicious. My husband and I have brought family to The Little Owl for lunch and the kids enjoyed their meals as well as the gaming atmosphere. This place is great. Cute, vintage, chic. And the staff is super friendly and accommodating. (I'm one of two girls that showed up on trivia night... twice). This place give me city vibes. It's a great spot for couples, friends, I saw a couple kids. They offer games for play at your table and some other interactive stuff on the bottom level. Such a blast! I can't remember our waitresses name but she had this beautiful red hair that she just got done! Great service the team just has an amazing energy to them. We sat downstairs where the games were and instantly we were all children who didn't want to eat and wanted to play games. The food was so fresh and delicious! Love this place! Been here a couple times. The staff is really friendly and attentive. They come check on you and make sure you're all good. It's not too loud inside which is great and the lighting is perfect. Not to bright or dark. They have games you can play while eating or having out! Beer/ drinks selection is decent. I've been a fan of this place for a little while now. I love their burgers! Make sure you visit when you're super hungry because the portions are pretty big. I also like the pork belly tacos. They open up the large windows when the weather is nice and they have tons of board games and a few electronic ones to play while your dining with the family or with friends. Great spot in Brookfield to grab some drinks and good food. I have been a few times for drinks but I recently visited and had some apps and wow the ranch dressing is like crazy delicious! The food is also good, better than most bar food, but if you're a ranch lover like me stop in to try the ranch. It's made in house and is honestly the best ranch I've ever had. I wish I could buy it by the bottle. The service is always great whether I am seated at a table or at the bar. I went to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Now I am not a picky eater. I like most foods. The only cultural food that I do not like is Mediterranean. The little old Social pub has got a decent menu with decent prices. My son and I both had the pork belly tacos. We decided to have the appetizer tacos. There was also an assortment of salsas and I had the mango jalapeño salsa. The food came very quickly. Now, pork belly has to be made right or it does not taste good. The pork belly was prepared correctly however even with salsa the taco was extremely dry and the only flavor I got was from the mango jalapeño salsa. The tacos were extremely disappointing. I had a glass of wine and I guess The Owl and Lark is known for having wine in cans. Anything that comes out of a can tastes tinny. I was so sad because my wine tasted like it came out of a can and that was disappointing. All in all, I was very disappointed in this new restaurant in Brookfield I really wish The Sanctuary would never have left. read more
