I love this shop. It takes me back to my days living in NYC and shopping at Fishes Eddy. It has adorable tea towels, great vintage glasses, dishes. One of my favorite things is the unique children toys. I visit here every time I am in Chicago. What I have noticed, sadly, is snooty workers have infiltrated this adorable shop. This place is adorable, and has the most adorable collection of random knickknacks to set any francophile's heart a-flutter. As another reviewer said, it's a lot like what you might find at a French flea market. The prices, however, are about three times what you would pay at a French flea market. I guess you have to take the price of the transatlantic plane ticket into consideration.... Overall, POSH is a good place to find a gift for that person who has everything, because you can always find interesting and unique pieces here. You just have to be willing to spend. read more

I simply love this store. There's always something new and everything there has a story. It's a unique blend of old & new in a very refreshing way. The price point can vary a lot between items - so you're likely to find items that fit your budget. For me, personally, I always find some things within my budget that I love and I also find some 'splurge' items that I may go for. The staff are always friendly, knowledgable, and readily available. This store is super cute, and the sales people aren't pushy. There is a good selection of vintage and made-to-appear vintage housewares and jewelry from France, UK, etc. The prices are pretty steep though on a lot of items. I'd say, 3 stars if you're shopping for yourself for a non-special occasion. 4 or 5 stars if looking for a unique gift that will stand out from the pack for something like a wedding or good friend's birthday. read more

This store is in a very convenient location but if you're looking for unique finds and 60s kitsch for the serious retro/vintage collectors, I'll look elsewhere. I feel like this is like the extended version of Anthropologie's home goods section: very feminine, very French, and very expensive. I guess it fits the name "P.O.S.H." very well. I like curated, but it was too curated and had a singular aesthetic. It's essentially a bunch of vintage french glass, soaps, dishes, and candles. These are "girly" gifts for the fu-fu carefree white girl in your life. The person you buy this stuff for appreciates "barnyard chic", wears flower crowns, and goes to Coachella. She doesn't really cook but she collects dish and kitchenware anyways to make her kitchen look cute. She puts vintage french glass with her barn door table because she wants to appear "eclectic." She might gush about this store on her lifestyle blog. Has she even been to a barn? Who knows. Anyways... Long story short, severely disappointing for experienced vintage shoppers. Once I saw about one table's worth of stuff I got the point. Even West Elm has more interesting things. I was trying to shop for a wedding and I didn't feel like anything was gift-appropriate for a wedding that is inclusive and considerate of anyone who isn't a CFWG (Here's a $60 solid marble rolling pin to assault your CFWG when she gets irritating!). I will say that it is priced higher than HomeGoods yet affordable at the same time. It's a very special shop to get original gifts for everyone. We went to a dinner and got a precious box of luxury chocolates for them and they loved it! It's a expensive store but anything you get from here will be a hit. I'm not a big fan of walking into a store and not being acknowledged with a smile or a hello when an employee is not busy and just standing at the register staring at you, yet watching as every single person that comes in immediately afterwards receives a friendly greeting. Which is exactly what P.O.S.H. did. I get the feeling this happens in certain establishments that skew towards higher priced/vintage because my friend and I look younger than we are and for some reason this automatically means we aren't good customers. Guess what: we're still adults with cash that came into your store with an intent to give you that cash but if you feel we aren't worth your time like your other customers, well, that cash stays in our pocket. And since I see at least two other reviews mentioning bad service, this seems to be an on-going issue with this store. We had picked up a few small items because we like getting more unique/local gifts for ourselves and others when we visit a city but became soured when we saw how our treatment had differed from the other older customers and instead put them down and walked out. Amazingly enough, I later saw one of the pieces of silverware I picked up for less at a similar type of vintage/quirky housewares store right here in NYC. Actually, I think the fact that something cost less in Manhattan is the best find I could have asked for because that's more rare than any of the things I saw in P.O.S.H. read more

I have walked past here many a nights on the way to or from the bars in the area and was delighted by the springtime display in the window in particular. I finally made it back on a Saturday afternoon and was a bit disappointed once inside. They have many treasures, yes, but I guess not really anything I particularly HAD TO HAVE. A lot of that plain beige restaurant china and random stuff. As usual, I had to walk out with something, so I purchased a fleur de lis pitcher that I think was a bit overpriced at $30 since it incured a crack in it a couple days later at no fault of my own.....it leaked my lemonade all over the counter and I threw it away because I threw away my reciept like an idiot. Not particularly their fault, but not mine either so kinda a bummer. read more

This little shop was recommended to me by a friend who previously lived in Chicago. We were staying at the Dana Hotel a block down the street so I stopped in. I couldn't believe how many things I wanted to purchase! So many cute, unique items. I settled on a homemade card and a platter with popular Chicago landmarks drawn on it. We get compliments on it every time we entertain as it's front and center in our china cabinet. The prices were what I'd expect for this type of store. P.O.S.H. is one of those stores where you think that you won't find anything that you like and instead find everything. I love going to this store on State Street just to look around and then find something that I will covet. Their merchandise ranges from antiques to electic, modern pieces. They stock neat glassware reminiscent of Depression glass alongside vintage plates scoured from old diners and trains. I especially like their areas devoted to France and England. Where else in the city are you going to find UK Royalty plates from the 50's. For Christmas, I purchased a French butter dish for my mom when it caught my eye. How can you go wrong with a classic butter dish with a cow on it? I also lusted after a set of beautiful Christmas napkins which I thought were perfect for my mom, but since I got her gift I couldn't see purchasing them. Thankfully, my shopping impaired boyfriend needed a gift for my mom. I knew exactly where to go! I even called ahead to put them on hold and P.O.S.H.'s employees were cool to do it. I just walked in and picked them up. I thank P.O.S.H. for the excellent Christmas presents. Everytime I'm in P.O.S.H., it's such a treat to find some interesting and different. Since their stock changes around quite a bit, I tend to visit this store often in hopes of finding another cool accessory or plate or glass. LOVE this store. Like walking through a Parisian flea market but all the good stuff is concentrated into one stall. I got a huge, hefty platter that reads "El Cholo, L.A.'s Second Best Restaurant" and a pasta bowl with a image of a fly and the words "Waiter! Waiter!" on it. So if you love mismatched restaurant and hotel china that will make you smile pop in here. They also have a lot of elegant items such as china from a French casino and silver ice buckets. And reasonably priced silver and glass ware. My Aunt and Uncle used to own a china factory in the Ohio River Valley, and lo and behold, there were lots of pieces from it for sale here. Actually there's a lot of American made china here-- Sterling, Hall, Buffalo, Syracuse, Homer Laughlin... All of these are HIGH, restaurant quality, well made, china. Trust me, you can drop these suckers onto your kitchen floor and they will not break. Usually. Seems like other Yelpers are rating this as "Pricey" but I got 5 pieces of restaurant grade china, and 2 paper goods items for under $60. I would say that's more "Moderate." The sales people were nice enough. read more

Back when POSH and I used to share the same Southport neighborhood, I stopped by more often, but the State Street store is completely charming. The stock is ever-changing and ever-wonderful, from French sailor buttons and bistro ashtrays to silver serving pieces from bygone British hotels. And there's something really nice about commercial porcelain dinnerware--it doesn't chip. Having your plates emblazoned with the logos of, say, the Naval doctors or some old club just adds to the appeal. My heavy porcelain Antoine's bowls are still flawlessly serving my gumbo after a dozen years or so of use. The diner cups we bought look like they could pound nails and still hold up for the morning brew. Plus last time I stopped by, a couple days before Christmas, they were having a very good sale. read more

They moved from their Southport location but they are better than ever. Although they do carry "new" mechandise they specialize in cute and very stylish vintage homewares. Merchandising is some of the best in the city-- they obviously know their stock and are able to make even the smallest fork look *perfectly" placed. One of my favorite stores of all time. This is usually the first place I go to when searching for gifts. I have bought things here for myself, coworkers, mom, grandma, sister, best friends, and even my boyfriend! Yup, out of all that girly kitchenware and accessories I found a $7 Italian army belt for my bf and he wears it every single day! I hope that over time my entire kitchen is furnished by this place! For Christmas this year I purchased my mom a beautiful pink fleur de lys glass decanter with four matching glasses. This is a great vintage store. I was in Chicago on business and had a few hours to explore. I am so glad I found this place on Yelp. You can walk around the store three times and still see something new- so many treasures to see. They have new and old items. I found quite a few treasures at only $5.00 a piece. Of course- they have pricier options too. Great serving plates for $10.00. I wish I could have brought a couple home but was scared of breakage on the plane and my carry on bag was already full. The person working was so nice. I highly recommend if you love vintage. read more

I love just walking into these places and walking around. They got great taste in decor and things are just artfully arranged, they know when to pproach you or keep their distance, unlike other stores where they hover and pester you over your shoulder. LOVE this place. Pop in when we visit Chicago. Nothing but GREAT experience with online orders & shipping. I mean they actually send the shipment with a handwritten note, the PERSONAL touch! I've even returned from a shipment and remember it being hassle-free. I think all the other reviews cover the uniqueness of the merchandise, which is awesome! Love to stop in here when I'm in Chicago. Totally addictive. Everything is very charming and not that unreasonably priced. As others have noted, it's great for unique kitchenware, dinnerware including items from old hotels and diners (ranging from very elegant to quirky and kitschy), and vintage table decorations.
