OK... Maybe it was my fault that I didn't know they were having trivia. Maybe I should have with the Iowa versus Nebraska game it would be packed, and maybe I should have been more understanding because my server said it was her third day, but the service I had this last time at P's Pizza House in the Dunes was pretty disappointing. HOWEVER, I definitely will give them the benefit of the doubt and be excited to return. Mostly because of this food... Check this out - In my experience, sports bars can go one of two routes with their food. They either order the traditional menu with maybe a slight variation from your standard food supplier. The food is fine, but nothing to write home about and you feel like you've had the exact same meal at other similar restaurants. However, the other route is when a restaurant leans into their menu to offer something different. Elevate the flavors. Put a spin on classics, and give you a reason to return. P's Pizza House in the Dakota Dunes falls into the later category. The cheeseballs and french fries - both sweet and regular - were fairly traditional, but the seasoning/garnish shows that they are paying attention. This brisket mac & cheese will stick to your ribs and let the flavors shine rather than drowning the meat in sauce or forgetting to cook the macaroni well. The smashburgers were exceptional. The pub burger with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and that pretzel bun with perfectly melted cheese and bacon was tasty, but the pimento cheese smashburger with crispy onion straws was divine. I appreciated that they were actually smash burgers and not just a regular burger with a fancy name. The toppings added to the experience instead of just trying to hide a bad burger. Not pictured were some Oreo shakes and cocktails in addition to a great beer menu. They have a private party space where they can pump out their coal fired pizzas to a large group and they even have a kids zone with arcade games to keep them busy. Thursday, July 3, 2025 @ 1 PM: Can't remember the last time I left a restaurant due to lack of service, but Dakota Dunes P's prompted it. Sat at the bar; there were 3 servers & a manager working in the bar. I sat for a full 5 minutes & not one person (except the greeter) looked or made any acknowledgment or contact. There were about 8 people sitting at the bar & they had water or an adult beverage. Never again! The P's Pizza House in LeMars has excellent service - but this location fails! read more

We went to P's on Mother's Day. Service was slow. They were out of regular pizzas and the coal fired pizzas took 40 minutes to bake. We ordered slices instead. The slices came out cold and we're not very good. I would not recommend this place. read more

Everything about this place, from the food, service and ambiance was a five star experience. Our server, Josh, was fantastic with great recommendations and the best service. We ordered a little of everything, from appetizers to pasta, salad and pizza. Everything was perfect! Star #1 - the place is beautiful! Two stories tall, seating on each level. Cool U-shaped bar. Tons of TVs. A small arcade. A party room. Clean. Inviting. Very cool looking place. Star #2 - Kick ass waitress. She convinced us to try the chislic. It was amazing! Her name is Cassidy. She's had some great recommendations. Star #3 - Beer sizing and prices. Bartender happily gave my husband a couple samples and he decided to go with the Remedy Amber. $6 for a 16oz. Star #4 - The food! I had an amazing brisket mac & cheese. My husband had the cackle burger. He thought the peanut butter was a little overwhelming, but the loved the jelly. The sweet potato fries are yummy and the bacon is perfect. My mac & cheese was super creamy and the brisket was so tender. I somehow ate the whole thing and now I probably don't have to eat the rest of the day! Start # 5 - the ranch. I'm a ranch snob. Got there just as the kitchen was closing, and they still let us order. Food was simply delicious! My wife had the jambalaya, and I had the Philly with cheese. Sooo good. Thanks to the great staff, that checked on us a couple of times during diner. Even as we were leaving the delivery driver held the door for us and told to stay warm and have a good night. read more

If there is management here they should listen to their staff. Leave the ricotta cheese in the lasagna and let the coal fired pizza stand on its own! Walking in the front door is odd here. Giant wall and empty host stand with people standing around asking each other if this is where you ask for a table or just wander in? Three or four minutes later a grumpy lady comes out and just picks the last people in that were closest to her and walks off with them. Really odd front of house design. A nice guy did finally show up and seated the groups ahead of me and came right back to take me to a table. My waiter was great!! He saved the whole experience and we had a good laugh about the abominable poop shaped swirl of nasty ricotta plopped on my slice. Finger paint for a smiley face haha! read more

We were pretty excited about checking this out. We've always wanted to go here and since it was our anniversary, we chose to have dinner here instead of going to Crave That was our first mistake . We put in our drink order we had to remind her about our drinks, she stated the bartender lost our ticket however, then she asked us again what our drinks were. Meanwhile, still waiting for our food for over an hour. The food finally comes hoping that even though it's taken that long, it's going to be good it's i ice cold. Which would be fine if it was ice cream, however chislic and wings are not supposed to be served cold. The manager came over and said oh we're super busy but as you glance around the restaurant, it's near empty. We watched as one corner table who got there after us got their food and was gone while meanwhile we were still waiting for our food . No offers to comp anything no apology. To say we are disappointed is an understatement lesson learned. Would love to give them another try but not willing to risk it. Good luck if you are. read more

PIzza was on the menu for my wife and I last night. We've befriended an older gentleman from Sioux City that isn't able to travel on his own and he can't read nor write. So, a couple of times a month, we take him out on our eating excursions. Our daughter was able to go with us last night, too. So, we figured a pizza pie was good option. If you've not been to P's Pizza House in the Dunes, you've got to check it out! Aesthetically, it is easily one of the nicest restaurants in the Siouxland area! Walking inside the building, you are greeted by their hostess who stands in front of a monster big screen showing their abundant beer selection. As we were being lead to our table, I look over towards the bar and see another split television screen the size of a single family home. It's really cool! It definitely has that upscale sports bar / restaurant atmosphere! Everything is so clean, too! The food at P's Pizza House is absolutely amazing! We got 2 appetizers and 2 pies and all 4 were insanely delicious! The cheese curd appetizer came out first. They were perfectly breaded and perfectly cooked! I love me some cheese and these things hit the spot! In typical Iowa fashion, they were served with two sides of ranch. They did not last long at all! They are yummy! We also got the Crab Dip off of their Coal Fired Menu. My wife is infatuated with this stuff! She loves her seafood and their coal fired crab dip definitely suffices that craving! It is served with both wonton and bread. I prefer the wonton and she prefers the bread. So, it works out perfectly! It was fired to perfection last night and I'm not sure they even had to wash the bowl in which it came because we got it clean! If it would be socially acceptable, she would probably lick it clean! When deciding on which pizzas we wanted, I wanted to make sure I tried a pizza from their "normal" menu and one from their Coal Fired Menu. I wanted to go with the Hickory + Oak from the "normal" menu which features smoked brisket and pulled pork from Iowa Barbeque but, I also kind of wanted the "Own The Pig" pizza. We took a vote and went with the Own The Pig! Either way, we couldn't go wrong! It has pork belly, bacon, Canadian bacon, and their house made sausage. Holy moly, is this a phenomenal pizza pie! My wife couldn't get enough of it and she doesn't care for bacon! It has the perfect blend of sweet and savory and the textures of all of the different pork cuts just set this thing off! There isn't a pizza around like this one. It is so fricking good! From the Coal Fired Menu, a friend of mine suggested we try the "Bomber". It is definitely interesting but, delicious! I actually preferred it over the Own The Pig and I thought it was going to be my favorite of the two! It has pepperoni, house sausage, and spicy link sausage. I'm assuming the name of "Bomber" comes from the ricotta cheese "bombs" that are dolloped throughout the pizza. It presents well and tastes even better! I love ricotta cheese so, this pizza was right up my alley! The coal firing brought this pizza around full circle! Another thing I love about this place is their extensive craft beer menu! As you can see from the photo, they have 20 different beers on tap along with the normal bottles and cans. I went with the Skolberry. It's a blueberry wheat ale made right up the road in Sioux Falls at Remedy Brewing Company. It was a bit pricey at 9 bucks for a 16oz but, it was damn good! I had a couple of them and I would recommend it to anyone who is not a sour person but, likes fruit beers. In my opinion, P's Pizza House has got to be not just one of the premier pizza joints in the Siouxland area but, it is one of the premier eateries as a whole. I've had their wings, sandwiches, pastas, and burgers. I've never had anything that wasn't good! Their beer selection rivals anyone in the area and it's a fun clean atmosphere! If you've never been, I highly suggest checking them out! read more

I would leave 0 stars if I could. This place acts as if there is no global pandemic with covid. So disappointing. Hostess wearing mask as a chin diaper. Touching her face mouth lips and then touching everything else. Absolutely disgusting. Moving her mask up and down to talk - never having it over nose ever. No safe waiting area for to-go orders. No curbside pickup offered. Everyone bunched in waiting are together and masks not enforced. Nor social distancing. It was absolutely packed. Kids running around maskless everywhere - touching everything in sight. An absolute covid petri dish. There is an EASY and SAFE way to continue business including safety precautions for covid and this business clearly doesn't care or live in reality. We visited P's on a Wednesday night. They were bustling with patrons however my friend who has suggested Ps stated even when they appear busy they have still gotten their food in a timely manner. We were greeted soon after being sat and got our drinks after a bit. My child ordered a chocolate milkshake and WHEN it was finally brought to us, I noticed it looked awfully pale. My child then stated it was not good. When the waiter came back to take our order I told him that they did not put the chocolate in the milkshake and we would like it remade. He did not apologize. He placed the blame on the bar staff. Somewhat of a RED flag I thought to myself. He took our order, which was two apps and the special of the night (cheesesteak) and a kids spaghetti; also a standard pizza to take with us when we leave. Now we wait and wait and wait and wait. He comes over to say the bar staff was slow to remake the shake. I told him to just cancel it. Then we wait and wait and wait. As tables around us have been sat and served FOOD while we sit just waiting. It was over an hour that we waited. My co dining friend flagged the server to see what was taking so long, again we received no apology; the kitchen staff must just be backed up. He did say he would have the manager come over. 8 min later the manager did come over. No apology. "They are plating up your food right now". Sorry sir. can you please pack it up we have to go. He agreed. They brought the food out; it was packaged well. Without silverware. Then the server proceeded to tell us our totals without showing us our tickets. "Yours is this amount, yours is this amount".....Which is not a pleasant way to take care of the bill and check for accuracy. The food we ate AFTER driving 45 min back to our town. Luckily the kids did try a slice of pizza on the way. It was good. The food would have been delish if it would have been eaten at the restaurant fresh from the kitchen. I understand a kitchen can get behind and that mistakes can happen with ordering. We are all human and not perfect. Being apologetic in that instance can really be helpful. I hope the management does some kind of training on navigating unhappy customers. Likely would not return to P's. read more

Stopped in for lunch with family and it was a pretty busy little lunch spot. There's a downstairs dining area and an upstairs dining area. The coal oven is outside so you can see your pizza being made fresh. We just had pizza the night before, so we weren't really feeling pizza and went for burgers instead. I had the Fifty-fifty and my boyfriend got the Diablo. The winner of the two was definitely the Fifty-fifty with the delicious pulled pork and grilled onions. The diablo was just okay. It just tasted like a regular burger with some sambal and could really have used some depth in flavor and definitely more spicy. With that said, the burger patties were thick and juicy. My review is based upon one visit at this establishment, which occurred on a Saturday around 5:30 pm. We were welcomed and escorted to a table. Server response time was 10 minutes before our drink order and meal order were taken. Since this was Saturday at an early dinner time, it was interesting that the joint was not especially busy. So, service was about average. We ordered a margarita pizza and two beers from Spearfish origin. The crust was an nice approach to a flame/coal fired pizza. The sauce is dismal. Folks, please hear me. Puréed canned tomatoes do not equate to pizza sauce as the result is an acidic, tin-can bland flavor that can't support meat or cheese. I'm not asking for pizza perfection in this part of the country, nor do I seek it. It's just a little hope of mine that an intrepid and adventuresome chef will travel to Italy to learn sauce basics and bring that knowledge back to share with us awesome Midwesterners...even if we all don't still live around here. (Yes, I've had some yummy pizza experiences in Italy. Even France and Greece can make nice thin crust pizzas at many tavernas.) TLDR; nice beer selection, pizza crust is decent, but sauce is sorely lacking in finesse and appeal. Service is average in this newer-ish pizza joint. I came in on a slow night while in town to run a marathon. I decided to go to P's Pizza House because pasta is always a good choice the night before running 26.2. This place has soooooo much potential. With just a little bit of effort this place could really be special. However, my experience was no all that special at all. The building looks beautiful from the outside. I was happy to have made the choice to come here when pulling in to the parking lot. Something very troubling was as you approach the entry doors, there are two cigarette butt huts on both side of the sidewalk. Both were smoldering. Who thinks it is a good idea to have to enter a restaurant for your mail or exit after eating to get bombarded with smoke? Not me. Them, as you walk in there is a Host/Hostess station that exists in front of a very big wall that blocks your view from the restaurant and bar. As I enter, there is nobody at the station. Are they still open? Do you seat yourself? Will someone come and seat me? It was certainly less than a perfect entrance after waiting way too long. I guy eventually say me when he saw me roaming around. I had Cassidy for my Server who I immediately liked. But, this too turned out to be a disappointment. I will explain in a minute. After looking at the menu I decided to get a salad and pasta alfredo with shrimp. When I ordered the salad, Cassidy asked me if I wanted a small side salad or their bigger size. I went for the bigger and damn it was good. Good call Cassidy. However, after two bites of the delicious salad, here come Cassidy with a sad look on her face and bringing my the pasta dish. She hands it to me and says "they cooked the pasta really fast". Ugh. No, you put the order in too soon. So now instead of enjoying the salad I had to rush because I was watching the pasta sauce thicken up from being cold. Not good. The food was good but the add on of the shrimp was $6.00 This consisted of four previously frozen tasteless items that resembled shrimp. What a rip off. The atmosphere and food was very good. The timing of the appetizer and entre delivery sucked, as did the $6 highway robbery for the shrimp and the reeking cigarettes from the butt huts made this experience not as good as it could have been. read more

We asked for a minute to look over the menu. He did not return for 15 minutes until I had to find someone to take our order. He apologized. Took our order. Food came out on a good time. A different person brought out food out. Did not ask if we needed anything. Didn't give us time to ask where our second pizza was. 20 minutes later still no second pizza or anyone to check on our pizza. This place is beautiful inside. We went for lunch and the service was ok but clearly there wasn't enough staff. The waitresses were running. I ordered the fetachini Alfredo for $10 then added shrimp for an extra $5. I got 4 shrimp for my extra $5. The fetachini sauce seemed like milk and runny. The worst Alfredo ever. My friend got a flat bread pizza. The crust was soggy. It seemed like the spinach had been boiled and laid on top. There was no flavor. We agreed to never go back. read more

If the wait staff could get their act together, this place would be good. We were with a large party, and no one really seemed to know how to deal with a large party (despite the fact that they have a dedicated space for it). The servers didn't appear to be communicating with each other, and it took about an hour and a half just to take our food orders. I don't normally do these but I saw a recent review that was talking about the host. In the photo added you can see him leaning on the desk on his telephone. It is a bad look at first but I've never met a better guy! This young guy was so friendly! He reminds me of my grandkid. His name is Jaxon, Jaxon saw me walking with a cane and he held the door for me! He did it again when I was leaving. I talked to this young fella for about 10 mins and he sure is sweet! He really made my day! So yes the photo may look bad but this handsome young guy is really a kind hearted person. I would be leaning against the stand if I was 6'6 as well!
