As a new patient, I was shocked by how poorly the front office and management handled things. I saw another patient upset about her glasses, and the staff didn't seem to care at all. When I checked in, I was told my insurance was inactive and I had to pay for the consult. The way the front desk girl spoke to me was rude, snappy, and completely unprofessional. Her attitude made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. The front office is the face of your practice, and this was the worst experience I've ever had in a medical setting. Do better ERICA! read more

Dr. Pabalan is the best! He literally saved my eyesight. Unfortunately, I have been unable to get an appointment for over 9 months. The office has rescheduled, cancelled, and changed my appointment to a location other than the Riverside office. I cannot reach the office at all. The phone numbers go to Azul and I get an operator who knows nothing about me. All this operator does is try to reschedule me for 3 months in the future!! I needed a simple visual field examination. It was a four month wait to get an appointment. I FINALLY got in, only to discover the staff was extremely rude, with no follow up. Good location, very nice and beautiful facility, all the employees at the front desk are nice and friendly. I went for the first time to this location for an eye exam for possible cataracts, Dr Joy did a deep exam and explained in a very professional and very polite way all the aspects of the cataract's surgery. Horrible receptionist! I sat there and watched the receptionist refuse to help and elderly man sign into the kiosk. He kindly asked her to help him and she straight up told him no. Then she proceeded to lie to the doctor and say the elderly man tried to throw the tablet at her to get him kicked out. Everyone in the waiting room was in shock by her childish behavior. Dr. Angela Perry the oculoplastic surgeon started off good but then was horrible at the end with patient care. My mother had a ptosis surgery done in May and we are still having issues till THIS DAY 11/25/24!!! We are going on our 4th reschedule and my mom has stitches IN HER EYES and they want to reschedule her till January 2025!!! Mind you these are not dissolvable stitches. Very horrible patient experience ever even with her rude staff. Do not recommend ever coming to this office!!!! read more

I had my appointment at 3:15 showed up at 3:10. Saw the lobby of patients. This office has no sense of booking appointments. I mean, schedule people based on the availability slots. If you know there's only one doctor that serves one patient at a time, and it takes a doctor 25-30 mins, then book an appointment on that base. I mean, I had another appointment that I had to push just because it took them 45 mins to get me a room even with my appointment. If you were to bring your business here, give yourself at least 2 hours. read more

This place is terrible, I've had several issues with this office. First, it's clear they overbook because the small office is super crowded every time and the wait is super long. I also received a text the last time I was scheduled the day prior canceling my appointment so I took sick time off of work for nothing! I was scheduled to be seen by the Ophthalmology Surgeon today for 10:40 and the front desk receptionist was very rude and dismissive. After hearing several people complain and ask when they would be seen I decided to ask (after waiting almost an hour) and the girl was staring at herself in her desk mirror while telling me that she can't guarantee I will be seen by 12 (which I told her was the reason I asked because I have to pick up my son). I understand that it's a speciality doctor and appts can take a while but they are so inconsiderate. I saw lots of elderly people waiting to be seen and being skipped while others that just checked in would be seen immediately. It's ridiculous to give appointments for clients to be seen 2 hours later. Don't waste your time. read more

The clinic is clean. Nice environment. However, the receptionists seem "stuck up". There's no sense of kindness or warmth. And since the pandemic has kicked in, it feels worse. In spite of my mother an elderly lady, being they're patient, they seem very authoritative. The techs and physician seem so impatient. The physician comes in like a routine type task, almost like a robot. Does the eye analysis, gives a 30-second verbal diagnosis indications, and just leaves. Doesn't even ask if there are any questions. The techs, the bilingual especially, seem to lack warmth. I value smiles and tones of voices. The masks impede my being able to value smiles. Their tones of voices, however seem very authoritative which I found lacked a bit of professionalism. The staff (techs included) are constantly harassing the patients and accompaniment regarding the mask. We've been going to this clinic for about 20 years and ever since the pandemic kicked in, this has been happening. Even Doctor kept pulling my mask up over my nose without even asking me. On the other hand, the monolingual English tech was very professional in that I was able to sense her friendliness, nice sense of humor, and how she offered her input on the eye procedures that were done and are to be done. PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL if you are coming to this location to see an ophthalmologist. My primary care physician referred me to ophthalmology and I was scheduled with Dr. Pabalan's office. I arrived, checked in, filled out paper work and taken back for a few tests. Once the tests were complete, a woman comes in with another woman who I assume was an assistant. I knew who the woman was because I had visited the website before my visit. Pamela Chang is NOT an ophthalmologist but acts as one which is highly unethical. My referral specified OPHTHALMOLOGY yet this office is allowing this optometrist to see patients referred for ophthalmology. How many other patients has this happened to? If my doctor wanted me to see an optometrist he would have referred me to an optometrist. I'm sure Pamela Chang is more than qualified, TO PRACTICE OPTOMETRY not ophthalmology. read more

I am very disappointed in the overall experience with Dr Pabalon's care. Maybe he is a good Dr. I had cataract surgery with Intraocular lenses put in, which cost a lot of money out of my pocket. After surgery I haven't seen him since for a follow up. It's been 6 months! I see another Dr who is nice, but I am having major problems and I can't see Dr Pabalon for 4 more months!!! I give them 5 stars for the changes they have made due to the pandemic. The appointment was easy to make and they change the whole setup to make sure patients can practice social distancing. In fact, after the check-in nobody else was inside the waiting room and I was called right at my appointment time. They made separate entrance and exit as well. Had a appointment today to have an eye exam and refraction. Was referred to this office by another dr. I want to say I was asked to have someone come with me due to being dilated. My husband and I were treated with the worst customer service that you could imagine. They told him he had to wait outside in the 103 degree heat. But I could understand that ( due to Covid-19) if it applied to all patients. The 2 women behind me were not even screened as I was and they were called back without a hesitation. The receptionist had such a horrible attitude I think a pet would have been treated and talked to better than I was. I refused their service and this was the first time in my life I felt like I would not have received good service if I continued to be seen. I've been a patient at this facility for over 5 years and going for medical eye exams as well as prescription for vision correction. Always this has been handled in one appointment. Tried to make an appointment today and now they've changed to make it two separate appointments. This is rediculious and a waste of my time. Due to so much going on in the world my father that I take care of was not able to become a patient with this clinic because I did not want to sign a document on my father's half to be responsible for a bill that my father's insurance would not pay for if his insurer wouldn't., Which I have the rights to not do so... it never stated I had to sign all documents in order for my father to become a patient here., so since that happened we decided to walk away. I have been having my eye exams for many years at Pabalan. They are always courteous and throrough. I have the utmost confidence in their ability to take care my my vision needs. I especially wanted to compliment one of their employees, Optician Dorinda De La Cruz. She is always upbeat and pleasant and does that little be extra that makes visits pleasant. Tried to make an appointment since their website says they do "surgical reversal of presbyopia" (and their site has a lengthy page discussing the procedures they do and follow up care). According to the receptionist "Wanda", however, it turns out they don't do ANY surgical procedures other than cataract surgery. It would seem that for a medical office they would have a more accurate, truthful, and up to date website. This isn't like they mistakenly put their hours of operation, they listed surgical procedures that they claimed to perform but in fact don't! If a doctor's office is that neglectful with the information they put out on their website, how neglectful are they with their patients? read more

July 24th 2020 Was my first visit to Pabalan Eye Center. My father is a patient here for like 2 years so this review has nothing to do with my father cuz we have the same name. When I first walked in the door they have it set up to where you see a lady that will take your temperature and ask you a series of questions because of the covid-19 which I was ok with because they're looking out for themselves and their patients. I had my mask on but it kept coming down a little below my nose but my mouth was covered and she kept telling me to fix my mask and I told her that it stretched out and she told me that if I don't fix my mask I would have to leave and make a new appointment and she was not nice about it. My mouth and part of my nose was completely covered. So the lady at the front counter called me over so she can take a copy of my driver's license and insurance card and gave me new patient papers that I need to fill out. She was very nice. So I start filling out my paperwork. I was sitting in the far back corner and the lady that I first saw when I first walked in that was harassing me about my mask came over to where I was sitting and told me sir you need to fix your mask or you will have to leave and make a new appointment. She told me to wrap the elastic around my ear twice on each side so my mask will stay completely over my nose and when she told me that I said look lady you're embarrassing me people are staring at me. So I was able to fix my mask to where it covered most of my nose. But I'm not the only one she was rude to. An older gentleman probably in his 70s came in with his mask on completely covering his mouth and she told him sir you need to completely cover your face with your mask and he told her I can't I have health issues and she told him then you're going to have to leave and make a new appointment. So he covered his nose.The rest of the staff were very nice and the doctor was awesome. But I will not be coming back because of this rude lady! read more

Called to change appointment date and after 25 minutes on hold a rude female answered and I said "wow, you guys must be really busy" and she said is a hurried rude voice "what can I do for you?" I told her she sounded rude and I didn't like her attitude and she just blew me off and continued with her attitude. I told her I would let Dr. Pabalon know about her attitude and she said "be sure to give my name". This place is TERRIBLE. They promised they'd do a vision exam, then three weeks later when the doctor ran an hour and a half late, his assistant was horribly rude for no reason. When both I and my spouse told the doctor, he did not care and was rude himself. Refused to do an eye exam, gave me the phone number of the lab they use and told me to call myself. He referred me to another place for my eye problem but they gave me the wrong numbers for BOTH places. I finally got the right number to the lab only to have them tell me they NEVER talk to patients, only doctors and that this doctor should know that. For the past several years I have been an especially lucky patient of Dr Pabalan's and his staff who are friendly and expert in their fields. They always remember your name and do their best to get you the most convenient and earliest appointment possible. They seem to always know the answers to any question or will do their best to get you a correct answer as soon as possible. Phones are always answered pleasantly and politely. I have been going to Dr Pabalan's office for years. I saw him a few times and then was past off to another Dr. not just once but three times now. I was never told the first time why I was no longer a patient of Dr Pabalan's which I think is terribly unprofessional. I have been in the office and have seen him sitting in the room with one of his staff a male I might add because I don't think he is allowed to speak to female patients and he didn't even a knowledge me. I felt it was extremely rude and dismissive as this is his office. They were sitting in there laughing it wasn't like they were it's another patient. The last straw was my last appointment, yet another new Dr. which is very nice however the girl working the front desk was so extremely rude to me I just can't go back. I did end of purchasing a pair of new glasses but it will be my last transaction. I felt so hurried and didn't even get a breakdown of what I was charged for. To bad nobody seems to care. Dr. Pabalon treated me at first returning appointment in December; suggesting a new prescription for lens. I spent quite a bit a time in their optical department and chose glasses. I was called January 2018 they were ready, the gradient tint not done. I left glasses and was called in February, they were ready. This time they were completely dark and was advised the staff tried on and they 'could see indoors I didn't want to return and tried them at home, not satisfied as I paid close to $400 they should of been right the first time. I returned with the glasses and older pair so whoever can get the gradient right! It was February 19th I left them at the office-no call back, the phone rings no one has picked up, today March 13, 2018 I got call answered! I asked to speak to Office Manager Judy and straight to voicemail, left message and re-dialed again long hold to ask to speak with someone regarding my glasses; I was told glasses not there and office manager would call me back. The worst service, will I be refunded as I have requested now with receptionist that said I wound need to speak with Judy? read more
