Highly recommend! Pacific Animal Eye Care did a wonderful job taking over the opthalmic care of our blind, senior dog Roxy after we moved to Oahu early last year. They did a thorough diagnostic exam that confirmed what her previous opthalmologist in California had found, and helped us to succeed in keeping her eyes moist and in keeping her eyesʻ redness and irritation levels down. Her adjustment took quite a bit of time because of the heat, constant wind, pollens, and new environment/climate of Windward Side. The front office was always incredibly responsive whether I needed receipts in a certain format for insurance, or needed a prescription filled. The team also includes an incredibly artistically talented tech who was not only wonderful with Roxy while Roxy was a patient, but who also drew (not just wrote, but drew) a very touching hand written note that meant so much to us after Roxy died. To anyone who might wonder why we would bother to take an already blind dog to an opthalmologist: Protecting Roxyʻs remaining eye health and comfort was especially important at the end of Roxyʻs life because her blink responses were not working so well towards the end. She wasnʻt going to recover any eyesight, true, but redness, infections and dry eyes would still have been very painful for her and not paying attention to warning symptoms could have led to more serious medical complications. We are heartbroken that Roxy died towards the end of last year. But we are grateful that Pacific Animal Eye Care was an important part of Roxyʻs team all the way to the end, and that she had a much healthier and more comfortable end of life experience as a result. Sasha and I were fortunate to get in to see Dr. Roybal and her team due to a last minute cancellation for surgery. She has state of the art equipment, they are very gentle with your pet and they take the time to give you a variety of options to tackle the eye issue that brought you there. I cannot put into words how grateful we are for Pacific Animal Eye Care! After many, many visits to different vets trying to find out what was wrong with our cat, they were able to pinpoint and give us a diagnosis and solution within 20 minutes! They are so patient and kind and understanding and I'm here crying writing this because we have been through so much to try and help our baby Cheeto and they helped us so quick and easily! If I could rate them 100 stars, I would!! We had gone back and forth about having to make the decision of putting our pet down because we could not get a clear diagnosis of what happened to his eye or if he would ever be okay again. They gave us hope in a time of need, as cheesy as that sounds. After many tears shed and stress on all of us, our pet included, he will finally be our happy boy again!!!! Dr. Roybal and her team offer top-tier care in a squeaky-clean office. We came to PAEC after receiving sub-par care elsewhere for our dog's nagging corneal abrasion. Dr. Roybal put her on special eye drops specifically to avoid having to put her through expensive surgery. She has a great bedside manner and a confident demeanor. The rest of her staff is very friendly and personable. When I first called the office, I was given great advice before even making an appointment. The biggest downside is the office is so busy! Ultimately we went with a drop-off appointment in order to get our dog seen as soon as possible. I would suggest this if you feel your dog's issues are urgent - I strongly believe if I had taken our dog to Dr. Roybal sooner, she would have had a better outcome. read more

Back in April my dog started having some eye issues. I took him to his vet over a few weeks with no improvement. Eye removal was pretty much on the table. I was referred out to Pacific Animal Eye Care. At this point, stitch was having all kinds of things coming out of his eye. Dr. Roybal treated with an aggressive eye drop and oral regimen over the next few months. Today (end of July), Stitch had his last appointment and his eye has significantly improved. Dr. Roybal explained everything, every step of the way and was even available a few times when I had questions from home. All the staff are so kind, helpful, and professional! Dr. Roybal was great! My cats eye just was not getting any better...She had already been in cone for 6 weeks. The vet kept saying come back next week. I was wasting so much money. I didn't even know their were animal eye doctors. My vet should have told me that right away. The male who answered the phone was extremely helpful and helped her get right in. After spending nearly $3,000 on eye surgery for my dog at PAE, I had a very upsetting call with the manager Jason. I called to say that I was going to be 15 minutes late for my appointment to get sutures removed. Jason was audibly upset about me being late and couldn't understand how it was possible. He kept reminding me that our appointment was at 4 and not 4:15. I kept telling him that I was literally on my way but he said they had already been "waiting around" for my appointment and that it was too late. Of course, I should have been on time. But I was calling apologetically and rushing to get there. Jason made me feel like I was wasting his time and said he didn't know when he could reschedule me. So I jokingly suggested maybe I just go somewhere else to get the sutures removed and he immediately responded with "sounds great!" and promptly HUNG UP ON ME. The vets and staff were amazing with my dog and his surgery was expensive but successful. I was really surprised and disappointed with my experience with Jason and will now have to seek animal eye care elsewhere. read more

If your fur baby has eye issues, look no further than Dr. Roybal and her staff. You won't need or want to go to anyone else for eye care. You will likely wish that she would practice general and emergency veterinary medicine too. Anytime my fur kids have an eye problem, I'm calling Jason again and either in the same day or a couple days, I'm in their office. He's had to deal with my concerned (read: small-kine anxiety attack) phone calls a couple times already. Some eye problems can arise out of nowhere and cause serious issues if not taken care of quickly but his calm demeanor and ease-of-transaction makes that call effortless. Getting to the office - turn at the Sprint building, after that, their sign is on the chain link fence that you'll turn right at. In that parking lot, pass the first brown building, look for the white building. It'll have a small garage with two yellow stalls reserved for PAEC. (A little confusing like 'turn at the huge mango tree', I know) Take the elevator up to the first floor. They're on the right at suite 103. BOOM, you're in. Next, you'll check in with Jason, then sign the check in form. Jen (the veterinary technician) or Jamie (the vet assistant) will get your baby's vitals, take a few eye tests, and let Dr. Roybal know you've arrived. Seriously, these ladies couldn't be nicer or gentler with your kids. You can immediately tell they not only love their work and their kids, but they'll become YOUR kids' new aunties. Then, Dr. Roybal will examine your baby with her gadgets, lenses and give you her diagnoses with your options. She is not pushy in any way, she tells you the honest truth in clear terms you can understand and is amazing at what she does. You can tell that she is a true animal lover. Pets can be nervous when someone new is holding them and a new doctor is shining a light into their eyes but Dr. Roybal and her team are so gentle and incredibly patient with each fur kid I've had to bring in. But really, the office provides everything you need from eye medications to procedures to surgery - they are the local-owned one-stop shop/clinic. Okay, enough already. Just take your fur kid here. Took my dog to see Dr. Roybal for a cornea ulceration and dry eyes. She was able to diagnose that he had horners syndrome related to his frequent ear infections. She and her staff were very patient and kind and she took the time to explain our dogs problem and treatment. She even put a contact lens in to protect his cornea while he was on antibiotics.
