Their staff is the worst. Wouldn't let me talk to the vet and were very difficult to deal with.

We brought our dog, Demi, in for her 6-month wellness visit. As usual, every staff member we…read moreinteracted with was professional, kind, and efficient. Dr. Nakamura was excellent and provided ample time to discuss Demi's overall health, especially in light of her advanced age. We do appreciate this veterinarian practice and their aloha and care. This time, they had added a very cute and appealing feature in the lobby (see pic), listing all the animals expected to be seen that day - it was very cool!! We would unconditionally recommend this practice! Thank you!

The woman working at the front desk was extremely rude and unwelcoming. Thankfully, another staff member stepped in and said they would still see my puppy, even though I had accidentally forgotten the paperwork from when I got her. Once we were in the exam room, the experience continued to be disappointing. The veterinary assistant would not give my puppy back to me and spent the entire appointment holding and playing with her. She stood between my boyfriend and the vet, making it difficult for him to see the exam or communicate with the doctor. It felt inappropriate and uncomfortable, especially during my puppy's first visit when I was trying to understand her health and care. The biggest concern, however, was the reason I brought her in. Since we got her, she has had a very itchy ear. I brought this up to the vet, but I was told it was just a little dirt and that she was fine. After leaving, I felt uneasy and did not feel confident that my puppy received the thorough care she needed. I decided to take her to Manoa Vet, where they immediately took an ear sample and discovered she had a yeast infection. Thankfully, they caught it before it became worse and we are now treating it. I am extremely disappointed that this concern was dismissed so quickly, especially in a 3-month-old puppy who is fully indoors. A proper test should have been done instead of an assumption being made. Veterinary care requires patience, compassion, and attention to detail. This is Hawai'i, where we value aloha and treat our families--including our furry family members, with love and respect. Unfortunately, I did not feel that care here. Nor did I feel the Aloha! I will not be returning and have found the level of care and compassion I was looking for at Manoa Vet.

She also helped me find alternative finance options. Which I love. I just had a baby and having my dog have a tooth accident that required a trip to the emergency on top of a visit to Dr. Hsu was not in the cards.. BUT my fur baby is just as loved and he means just as much so vet app it is. 2. Dr. Hsu.. you can totally feel and hear the knowledge he gives out. He won't sugar coat the seriousness but also somehow still keep things light.. not to mention the after hours Dr. line STILL is a thing. I honestly am so appreciative of Dr. Hsu and his ability to make sense of what I'm worried about. As an over thinker, he helps rationalize. He even considers what you have going on in life.. he doesn't shove down a vaccine just to collect payment. I am so thankful for his care. He genuinely is the best and most will be missed by us when we move but our dog will ALWAYS go here upon ever returning. I will ALWAYS recommend.

We have seen a few different vets over the years, but Dr. Ganzer is the one we trust with her care. He is kind, understanding, and always takes the time to answer our questions. When our rabbit has needed emergency dental care, he has gone out of his way to fit her into his schedule and bring her into surgery. We appreciate how prompt and thoughtful he is with follow-up calls after surgery. He gives an approximate time of calling and calls within 20 minutes which I know is difficult with the jam packed schedule. It is great to have an idea of when I will receive word of how my rabbit is doing. Knowing our rabbit is in Dr. Ganzer's care gives us peace of mind, and we are so grateful to have him as our veterinarian. Dr. Ganzer is an exceptional veterinarian who is always kind, understanding, and professional. He genuinely cares about the health and well-being of every animal he treats, and that compassion shows in every interaction. The staff are also very nice and accommodating, the techs are always very gentle with our rabbit which we appreciate.

I called in with an emergency, and they were accommodating enough to take me in right away, which I really appreciated. As soon as I got out of my Uber, they opened the automatic door and immediately took my cat in. I ended up spending the entire day there, which was fine--my cat requires a lot of patience due to trauma he experienced before I adopted him, and they handled him with care. The only area that could use some improvement is communication between staff. I did have to repeat my concerns a few times. Their services are on the higher end price-wise, but if you truly love your pet, it's worth paying a little extra for that level of care.

They offered a second option of a bit over $2,000 where we would be able to take him home sooner and watch for symptoms/improvement, which we decided to take considering it was a holiday weekend and our regular vet wasn't open. We had to pay upfront, which I understand to be common with vet emergencies, but they were still pushy and tried to sell us pet insurance. The medication they prescribed seemed to somewhat help, but we ended having to have him stay over 2 weeks at his regular vet, where they had to monitor him. Their treatment cost was only just under $2,000 for the entire 2 week stay. Turns out all he needed was a diet change. No major interventions, unlike what VERC had insisted. Our regular vet asked if VERC performed a urinalysis (as they said they should have done before making any moves). We realized they hadn't. I think VERC is obviously a spot to go in desperation, but I would not return. I understand it's a business at the end of the day, but their practices made us uncomfortable. It's clearly a profitable business to get into. No wonder so many vets keep opening up around Oahu. Will remain wary and won't be returning to this one.
