I was told by the doctor that he couldn't examine my dog, and despite having almost no conversation with him, I later received a forged letter containing false information, as if we had talked for about an hour. The content of the letter was like a threatening letter from the yakuza (Japanese organized crime). This letter was fabricated by the doctor, and I was refused an examination, and I didn't speak to the doctor at all. Although I was at the hospital for less than three minutes, this doctor gave me baseless and typically incorrect information, such as "the dog got cancer because it hadn't been neutered." When I consulted another hospital, the doctor there said that surgery was impossible considering the dog's age and heart condition. When I went to this hospital a week earlier, I explained the situation, but the doctor refused to examine the dog, saying he was feeling unwell. And when I went again a week later, I was told again that he couldn't examine the dog. Despite this, I was charged $75 for the consultation. This was a completely fraudulent hospital. And they repeatedly urged me to have my dog ​​euthanized. I went there after seeing good reviews on Google, but there was a complete discrepancy between the reviews and reality. An acquaintance of mine also had their dog's cancer surgery at this hospital, but the dog died two years later. I suspected it might be a Klebsiella infection. According to the doctor's research, 60% of the cases were hospital-acquired infections, and the rest were due to other external sources of infection. The infection rate is said to be high in infants and the elderly with weakened immune systems, leading to conditions such as pneumonia, prostate cancer, cystitis, and pulmonary hematoma. I've seriously had it with this clinic and should have made this review a long time ago. So it starts with my puppy needed a scheduled vaccine shot at 10 weeks of age and I asked them to schedule an appointment for me to meet this requirement. The vets only availability is limited to Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. I make my appointment for Wednesday. Note this where the breeder had taken my puppy previously and they have all my pups records. I then take time out of my work day and show up only to be told that they made a mistake and the appointment they made was too soon and I had to reschedule. I let it go and called them later to get my pups records and it took 45 min in queue for me to request it. They said they would email it, still haven't received it. Lastly, it's less than 24 hours before my rescheduled appointment and I get a text I need to reschedule again because the vet is not available. Scott the tech was so knowledgeable! Dr Obara was great! He was able to take my dogs, blood pressure, detect a ear infection that he gave meds for, he also reviewed my mainland, vet report, test, results, summary of procedures, right before we saw him. Often times vets will make you tell them rather than take the time to read about the patient's history before they see them. This was a very warm and friendly clinic environment from the beginning. Britney was very accommodating in finding me an appointment for that day, being a new patient, I find that difficult because I had called four other vets, and they would not see my dog for 2 to 3 weeks . Of course I would be going back to the mainland before then, so that timeframe would not work out. I'm so glad I have a vet established on Oahu. They're willing to work with my vets on the mainland so they can keep in communication with each other. My friend highly recommended Kalihi Pet clinic to my mom and I. My friend has been taking her 4 cats to this clinic for many years. We recently had an appointment for my mom's cat first check up. We are totally displeased with the Vet tech and her insensitivity and attitude towards us. Being this was our first time here you would think her questions and demeanor towards us would more professional. When two vet techs were trying to draw blood from my mom's cat, he was squirming around. The comments the male vet tech and fem vet tech said just made me finally express my concerns and I wanted to talk to the veterinarian or whoever was in charge. Even when the vet came in I felt that she was more shocked that we had a complaint about the female vet tech because she supposedly is one of their best techs. Same thing with the office manager. While we expressed our complaint to office manager, she wasn't even paying attention to my friend or I when we were talking. She was giving my mom's cat treats and talking to the cat instead of giving us her undivided attention. Honestly the way I was raised... when someone is clearly speaking to you , you should be making eye contact and listening to their concerns. She did not and my mom, my friend and I felt disrespected and I will never come back to this clinic again. I feel that you should talk to your staff about how they treat first time clients, especially when we told them the loss we recently had in our family. I don't have to go into detail about it just ask your vet techs, manager and the vet who handled our appointment. read more

We went in during their closed hours for surgeries due, to our 14 yr old Pomeranian Bria was suffering from a cardiac arrest, and they still accepted us w/out delay. Put her on O2, administered a shot of some sort, and they did compressions, but unfortunately it was her time to go. But at our time of emergency, they did EVERYTHING they could, and we TRULY APPRECIATE all their hard work & efforts in trying to save our girl. I like places that takes care of your pets and their owners too. This is by far the most affordable place to take your beloved pooch and still get quality care. I have two dogs now so it kinda hurts my budget a lot especially when they get randomly sick. Nowadays they have this computerized system where you can check in on a iPad and then you can see where you're placed in queue. So honestly if it's busy and you're further down the line then you could totally just come back later. What I appreciated this time was that I was able to check out in the exam room which was really helpful cause one of my dogs is not the friendliest. Otherwise. They're moving to appointment only in January 2020. This clinic deserves an updated review that goes more in depth into the awesome care they provide for my rats. Whether it be for tooth trimming throughout Cinnamon's life, treatment for URI's, or end of life services, Kalihi Pet Clinic has been my go to clinic for compassionate and timely care. They modestly acknowledge that they don't specialize in exotics care, but they always try their best to treat even their smallest clients. And if the problem is ever too big for them to treat, they refer out to a clinic that can. I have to give this clinic props for the kind and professional care they give. All their staff has been so respectful to my rats, even if they didn't expect to see rats in their clinic. Many of their vet techs have had pet rats in the past, and they're always so happy to see my girls and sneak in a cuddle with them. Not even clinics that claim to specialize in rat care treat them with as much respect and care as this clinic does. My most recent visit to this clinic was for a sad reason. To say goodbye to Oreo and Marshmallow. While I was initially told that I couldn't be present for the euthanasia, in the end they gave me the option to be present which I deeply appreciated. Doctor Obara and staff were all very kind and patient. My girls were able to pass peacefully cuddled together. Doctor gave me plenty of time alone with my girls, and also spent time with me in the room chatting about the ratties' personalities, their quirks, how special they are. It was very comforting and helped me to feel at peace with losing both at once. Thank you Doctor Obara and staff for all your compassionate care! I will keep bringing my girls here. I'm thankful I was able to bring my cat Keanu to be seen on a Monday morning. I know Mondays can be crazy for veterinary hospitals especially when they're closed on Sundays. My cat Keanu lost his appetite and looked uncomfortable and in pain the whole weekend. I did what I could at home but knew he needed to be seen. Dr. Obara and his vet tech Tiffany were great. After going to another clinic, I'm glad my family found this one. They are pretty good with responding to emails and calls, staff is nice. But the biggest thing for me is that when i take my cats in, they dont come home any different. At the previous vet, my cats would come back and just hide and be mad at the world, and my older cat would always pee the bed. The most caring and compassionate pet clinic I've been to. Dr. Obara and staff truly care about your pet. There are long waits at times, but when you are helped, they do their best to take their time with you by listening, asking questions, and providing great advice. My late dog, Zeus, was in their care from the time we adopted him from HHS 10 years ago to his last final days with us as of Dec. 2023. We had to put him down as he was no longer eating/functioning on his own. I called a few days after his passing to notify the office that my dog had passed and gave a thanks to the doctor and staff. After being scammed several times at a pet hospital whose name I will not disclose at this moment, I searched for several vets that could care for my dogs. I wasn't asking for much (good professional, good environment that doesn't smell like pee, transparency on prices and treatments), but what I wanted seemed impossible. When I called Kalihi Pet Clinic, my prayers were answered. The receptionist was very forthcoming with the information I needed (prices, examinations, advice) and didn't guilt trip me with the "Oh, if you really loved your dogs you would spend $$$$$$ money on them" speech several other vets told me. She also didn't give me the "Sorry, we only tell you the prices after we do it to your dog" talk. I easily scheduled an appointment for my dogs. Prior to my appointment, I filled out a lengthy and informative Intake Form that asked me about my dogs conditions, which is amazing and should be a standard. It also asked me about pre-authorized approval amount, which is awesome because my previous vet would give treatments to my dogs without my consent and expect me to fork over a few hundred dollars - which I did fork over because I am a little wuss and didn't really have a choice. When I arrived at Kalihi Pet Clinic, the kind nurse took my dogs. I went to do my errands. Fast forward 1-2 hours later, Dr. Obara personally called me and told me everything he did for my dogs and the cost rundown, which covered everything I wanted and fit my budget. He also informed me I did not need to give my dogs so many vaccinations so often, which my previous vet pressured me to do. He also informed me of better medicinal alternatives for my pets - which my previous vet tried to con me into paying more. I was able to ask questions to Dr. Obara and actually received an answer to. That is fantastic. Then I picked up my pets, paid my Bill, and went home. All in all, Kalihi Pet Clinic is awesome. Dr. Obara and the staff are just top-notch and great people. I had such a pleasant experience and I will be coming back for life. This place actually cares for your pets and is transparent with their treatments/prices. I usually never want to write a bad review for any company but this has to be one of the worse pet clinic/hospital I've ever been to. The employees are nice for the most part but there seems to be absolutely no communication to each other what so ever. They took my dog in to the vet on time but we waited (and still waiting...yes I have time to write a Yelp review) for over an hour. Nobody in my family got a phone call at all, so my step dad had to call the clinic and ask about the status of my dog. The guy on the phone said my dog was "done" but no one called to mention that nor called to ask for more details on what happened to my dog. He had a limping left leg and his left ear was bothering him and looked red. My stepdad is also currently still "on hold." After over 30 minutes. The guy kept coming out asking questions and then going back in and then coming out again and asking more questions. It would be much easier to just call us. I understand if you guys are short staffed and can only do so much (I know the struggle) but I do need some kind of communication of what's going on with my dog before he's done being checked.
