Huge rave to an AMAZING dinner at pacific brimm cafe in parksville. They have delicious handcrafted cocktails and craft beers on tap. Their guac & prawn cucumber bites or their home made daily soup (which happened to be cream of mushroom soup yesterday, my fav ) is a must try as a starter. My partner and I also tried the halloumi sliders and the bison burger sliders, which comes in full size as well. We also tried the pesto penne with added chicken. Everything was absolutely delicious, crafted to perfection! The meat was juicy and tender, and the mango chipotle aioli paired perfectly with the halloumi. The penne was el Dante and the house made pesto sauce was bursting with flavour. For dessert we had to try all three desserts; chai tea crème brûlée, the Oreo cheesecake (rotates weekly), and the chocolate espresso mousse. The aromatic chai flavours in the creme brulee complemented the crisp burnt sugar top, and the chocolate mousse was perfect for a coffee lover like myself! The cheesecake was also delicious, and can't wait to see what they have next week! This little place is an order at the counter business although the tipping option comes up at a minimum of 15%. I requested firmly cooked eggs on my meal. My husband's egg was cold as were the hash browns on my plate. The young woman who delivered the food dropped the plates in front of us - I could see the eggs jiggling as she did that but she left without another word. I took my plate to the counter to request firmly cooked eggs where I was ignored by her. I had to flag down another employee to request the adjustment. I also requested the hashbrowns be warmed up. The eggs came back cooked but the hashbrowns remained luke warm at best. My husband's food was "alright"...we aren't going to return. read more

I am a local customer to the Brimm and decided to go in for a coffee and one of their home-made oatbars. They didnt have anymore, so settled for a rice krispie square. She gave me the smallest cut and when I asked for a more substantial piece, she gave me the first stink eye. Then she ran out of coffee and said she had to brew a new pot. What coffee shop runs out of coffee? So I asked her if I could have a tea instead because I was running late for a meeting, she through me another dirty look and slammed the tea down and walked away. Maybe she had a bad day and I was in her pathway? Im not sure. She definitely needs more training on how to treat her customers and an attitude adjustment. read more

Looked like a decent place but we wouldn't know cause they completely forgot about our order. The worst part was that when we asked, they didn't even check the order and just asked us to wait. We waited for a whole hour and when they finally confirmed that they forgot, the boss lady didn't even apologize but actually looked annoyed that we asked for a refund of our tip. The whole time while waiting they never came to check on us and didn't even bring us water. And you expect us to leave a tip after all that? Service is lackluster- after paying the $40+ for breakfast for 2, the server says "you'll be waiting a while for your food ok?" ( doesn't inform me of this before I order, which is the norm). 2 breakfast bowls took 45 mins (I had a toddler with me, which makes it even harder). Was given my coffees, wrap and breakfast sandwich without the tray and had to ask for one. Sadly the person who made the coffee did not put the lid on tight enough. Having recently begun work in Parksville, I knew that I would need to scout out the area restaurants as I am categorically incapable of remembering to bring my pre-packed lunch. I'll make it the night before, put it in a brown bag, leave a sprig of parsley on the top, write notes to myself in my mirror, hire telemarketers to call me before I leave to ask if I've gotten it... and by the time noon rolls around, I reach for my veggie chili / tuna sandwich / steak-frites and ... realize I'm once again somewhat incompetent with respect to remembering my lunch. Ergo. I went to Pacific Brimm in my first week and haven't looked back since. While I'm not a coffee drinker - making my review of limited use for those who need caffeine IV drips - I can recommend it highly for lunch. Their club sandwich, at $9.25, uses non-deli-meat chicken, and their grilled vegetable panini is incredibly flavorful and cooked hot through every time. I visit at least once a week, and usually twice, and have yet to be disappointed. Lovely tables outside for when it's sunny, a cozy interior with a variety of seating arrangements, and friendly staff. No doubts, this place is Brimm-ing with good cheer. read more

Stopped into this place last weekend for a coffee while visiting from Vancouver. Looked great, really cute little place. Ordered our drinks from a very disinterested guy at the counter, he could have cared less. Took our drinks to the back patio to sit in the sun. Upon stepping out, we were greeted by a guy across the patio asking if we were there for music. It was 4 in the afternoon and there wasn't anybody else there. We answered that we were just going to sit and drink our drinks. He barked at us that we weren't allowed to sit on the patio because it was being used for a private event. When I had the audacity to put my cup down on the table for a minute while I put my mask back on , he yelled at me, told me not to put my cup down. As we excited this friendly place, he yelled at the guy at the counter about letting people wander out the back in front of us . Classy all the way. Forget about trying to support local, next time we'll just go to Starbucks. Dude was rude and the way he spoke to us was totally unnecessary . This is a review for the Pacific Brimm catering service. Pacific Brimm was hired to bring in their food truck to serve dinner at a backyard wedding reception. We asked them to serve burgers, veggie burgers and baked salmon. First, the food was great. All the guests were pleased (and full). Seriously tasty burgers. Second, the catering truck showed up on time and the staff was ready to help out. Third, in the couple hours prior to their having to prep dinner, they helped act as bartender. Dinner was on time and went off without a hitch. What was nice is we did the service as a 'come and get it' format where guests just had to line up whenever they wanted to collect their meal. We didn't have to do any coordination with getting everyone seated all at once. There were quite a few kids at the event and this format worked out marvelously because people could choose when to eat. They provided the plates, eating utensils, and all the condiments. The staff was friendly and the wife and I were most pleased with the quality of the meal and the trouble-free service. read more

My boyfriend and I came from out of town to see family in the Parksville area. This cafe was one of the few still open. It has its own unique character that sort of goes with the Parksville style. It has comfy seats and nice people working. It's food is not the greatest but still good if you need a bite. There is lots of selection and you can pretty much find any kind of lunch you need. My food was a little expensive. I got the soup and salad. I thought the salad was too small for what I paid. My boyfriend's sandwich was stale. Nonetheless is wasn't terrible. We stopped here looking for a quick coffee/breakfast for the road. We ordered a Caramel Matte and a Dark Mocha to go. The caramel Matte was made to stay. No big deal, she poured it into a to-go cup and it was ok. The mocha was made as a latte at first. We informed them that it was supposed to be a mocha so the barista took the latte, dumped it into a to-go cup and drizzled the top with a touch of chocolate syrup. This is not a Mocha. This is a latte that has been drizzled with chocolate syrup. We left disappointed in the lack of attention to customer satisfaction and detail. No apologies were offered, nor was there any acknowledgement of the mistakes. The mocha was made unprofessionally and the staff didn't seem to care about their low standards. read more

Stopped in for coffee and a dessert. The place was very disheveled but sometimes the day goes that way - I get it. The pastries wrapped in Saran wrap did not looking particularly fresh or enticing. The espresso machine had a significant amount of duct tape on it and the back counter it sat on was quite dirty. The bathroom I went into had garbage all over the floor. It took a long time to be served despite two people clearly working in the back. Not impressed with the very weak coffee, very hard date square service and cleanliness. Visited first time on a Wed. With friend. The whole interior looks tired and unclean. Old lighting, worn out counters and built up dirt on the floor makes me not anxious to go back. Customer service very disorganised. Also when questioned about the status of an order, the staff was defensive and accused us (the customer) of "not being there" when we sat down to wait and eat our own ordered lunch. No one seemed to know who had completed what task or when. When we left, they called to say we left without veggies on our order - which we did not order, and again accused us of "leaving before we could give it to you". Disorganised and rude - not a great combo. The food was decent though. Just not somewhere I'd ever go back. Definitely in need of good management which is apparently lacking. read more

I think this might be my favorite coffee shop ever. It looks abit quiet and unassuming from the outside but once you walk in you feel immediately the care and attention to the space and the customers. Great spot for quiet chats with girlfriends or just to sit and enjoy a book with a great snack or meal. Don't forget to check out the private back patio. Loved everything about this place. read more
