I am a new pool owner. We bought a house a month ago that has a pool that still had the original plaster since 1995. There was a lot of discoloration and quite a few stains. We had our pool resurfaced a week ago and went with this company. Ryan came out to give me a free quote. After meeting with him and discussing it with my wife we were comfortable to give him the job. I have to say we are not disappointed. Ryan kept me informed of when his team would be arriving and everything was on schedule. I got to chat with him quite often since I am currently working from home, and he is great to work with. We decided to go with the Aqua Blue Mini Pebble which should last 15-20 years if the water is balanced correctly. We also decided to just have the tiles cleaned instead of installing new tile, and they came out clean as can be. Ryan also made sure to explain how to balance the water during the start up which lasted 5 days. Being a new pool owner this was very insightful and helpful for me. I am extremely satisfied with the job and Ryan is willing to go the extra step to explain and answer any question that you have. Ryan installed our Hayward Eco-Star variable speed pump in March of 2015. Fast forward 4 and a half years after install.... The 4 + year old pump died on us with an error code reading, "Drive Error." We immediate enlisted the help of Ryan. With numerous emails and texts, as well as messenger. He was very helpful and responsive to all our inquiries up until we asked him to come to our home to access the cost of replacing it with a new Pentair. He replied that he would NOT come by, explaining the last time he gave us a quote, we went and hired another contractor who was unlicensed and who had undercut his price. Wow! I asked him what he was talking about and yes, indeed we did get a quote from him and a few other companies and indeed, we did hire someone else. That, I feel was my right to shop and hire as I saw fit. I also feel that Ryan had some responsibility to us as this pump he installed, was his work. He stated that he submitted a request to Hayward for warranty work. That's the last I heard from him. He stated that Hayward has 72 hours to reply to his inquiry, and he would contact us as soon as he hears from them. Well, let's see. We factored in the Labor Day weekend. We waited the 72 hours and waited, and waited...and waited....Tomorrow, is another Monday, from last Monday (Labor Day) and we never heard back from Clearwater's Ryan Barlowe. In the meantime, our pool has sat without a functioning pump. No answers, no plan of attack. All we needed was a reply, as he promised. Photos of our pool pump were sent, as he requested. If Hayward won't cover this $1350 piece of equipment, that Ryan installed 4 years ago, we need to know. We do not want anything for free. We just want prompt and polite service. If I choose to hire someone else, that is my prerogative, as well. I am attaching his snide remarks via a text message. I believe he has chosen to ignore us, as he doesn't like that I called him out on this matter. I refuse to be bullied by anybody. It is my right to research and ask questions. He stated he doesn't do business that way. Read the text. He goes on to quote us $1609 for a new Pentair if it comes to that based on our photos. He quotes this job for 1 hour and states that any additional time would be at the rate of $105 per hour. That's One hundred and five dollars per hour!!!!!!! Lmao Who earns $105 per hour? Unbelievable!!!!! Watch out for this man! Please don't plan on shopping around for anything cheaper either. It's not how he does business! Please! There are way too many poop service companies in the Temecula/Murrieta vicinity to tolerate such treatment. If I pay anybody $105 per hour, it had better be my Surgeon. Finally, don't choose a Hayward Ecostar because they have "known problems!" Of course, he won't tell you that when you're buying one from him. Read my attached text message from him. That's all I have to say. You be the judge. 10/12/19 The bottom line is this: If you, as a consumer, wants to pay this man $109 per hour, go right ahead. As for me, I'd rather give it to charity than to pay him. It shows in his response the type of human being he is. He may not have recommended Hayward, but he was happy to install it, and take our money for the job. The importance of servicing us, AFTER the sale is a key factor in any business. Just because the Hayward pump had issues, doesn't give Ryan the right to throw it back in our face with his "I told you so," type of attitude. We have been pool owners since 1998. In fact the first pump was a Hayward and lasted almost 20 years. When Ryan changed it out to the new Hayward, it was because we wanted something more efficient. He recommended the variable speed pump. That old Hayward was still going strong. I will NEVER purchase a Pentair. That is how strongly I feel about my choice. No thanks to Ryan, we did get our Hayward up and running. Guess what.... all it needed was cleaning. Ryan jumped to tell us that we were fools for buying the Hayward. Shame on him! He wouldn't even give us the time of day to come check it out. He automatically assumed we were SOL. He may have purchased all the Pentair branded pumps but that's not my fault and it sure as heck doesn't mean I have to buy his Pentair inventory. I realize this is every Buisness owner's desire--- to push the product they have in stock. Not me. 20 years with my first hayward? Never will I buy your Pentair inventory. Go pawn that off on Pentair Lovers. I'm not your gal! I still stand behind my review and have the deepest and utmost respect for YELP AND it's reviewers. I'm exercising my first amendment right which is freedom of speech and my ability to express the truth in the best way I know how. I got them in April to maintain my pool. It was getting foggy in the beginning so I was told by Ryan that he will have it cleaned before it gets worse. So it was foggy in April and now we are in June and this is what it looks like now. The renters said he barley came to the house when he was supposed to come every Thursday like he said. I called Ryan mid day on a Sunday in hopes of making an appointment to have him come out and troubleshoot some issues I was having with my pool. I had noticed after cleaning the filters that the spa wasn't spilling over into the pool like it was supposed to. I had troubleshot everything I could think of, and just came to the conclusion the pump is old and probably needed replacement. Ryan took the time to walk me through troubleshooting further, while he had me on the phone, and after accessing the pump impeller discovered there were some pieces of broken plastic in there causing the loss of pressure. This guy is top notch...and with essentially a non paying customer no less. My problem is solved for now...but when it does come time to replace that old pump...Ryan is who I'll be calling. read more

Its taken me a while to finally post a comment but today when a friend mentioned that his uber driver decided to light up a cigarette while he was waiting for him to get in the car, I was reminded of an extremely unprofessional if not disgusting person I had hired to service my pool a few months back. His name, Ryan from Pacific Clear Pool and Spa. This guy was so disrespectful towards me in many ways but the worst of it was that he repeatedly left cigarette butts all over my backyard and even in my driveway every time he came to my house. GROSS !!!!! I am disabled and low income yet he still charged me more then I ever paid before after I fired my previous pool guy for allowing staining on the walls to occur in my pool due to lack of proper chemical balance. Ryan made dealing with him next to impossible but refusing to give me a set day or time when he would be over so I could speak to him and but making me have to text time over and over again to find out as he strung me along and didnt even show up some weeks. I only used him for a month before it was obvious this was not working out. When I did mention the cigarette butts to him the next text I got was not to say he was sorry but to blame me for whatever, oh yeah asking questions since apparently he doesn't think thats part of his job to explain anything to the customer. When we set the price for weekly service he actually made a big deal over removing a thin plastic cover I keep on the pool and wanted to charge me 10 bux more to do so and even when he was here cleaning the pool and knew the problem with the walls having a yellow stain on them and needing to be treated and brushed well,I watched as he took less them 3 seconds to brush 2 walls on a sideways motion and say "all done". I was shocked that he took all of 5 mins from start to finish to devote to my pool that day given all the issues we discussed before hand and yet expected me to pay he high price and put up with his disgusting disrespectful habit of smoking and flicking cigarette butts along side my pool, behind the pump, on the driveway after cleaning the filters, and various other places. My wife and I just cancelled our service from Pacific Clear Pool & Spa after 4 + years of service. We have been reasonably happy with the week-to-week service. However, on December 12, 2019, the pool service guy who works for Ryan notified me that we had some type of an electrical problem in the system that was tripping the breaker and that the pumps were no longer running. He notified Ryan via phone and Ryan was to going respond the next day. A week later, the pool guy again pointed out that the equipment wasn't running and he again notified Ryan. That same day, December 19, I sent a text to Ryan, "Hi Ryan - Our pool equip has been down for a week. How soon can you come take a look?" He replied "Possible today. Tomorrow for sure." I replied "Thanks". The following week the pool guy showed up and again called Ryan in my presence. To avoid further details, I will just say it is January 8 and Ryan has still not shown up or called. My wife just called and notified him that we were no longer going to be using his services. read more

Ryan is THE MAN. We bought a pool home in Temecula in June, and the pool looked like it had been neglected a little bit (not murky, but not sparkling). I Yelped for pool service and Pacific Clear Pool & Spa, Inc. (Ryan), showed up with a bunch of 5 Star ratings, so I contacted him. Ryan came by and said the pool wasn't good, but with a little chemical addition and running the pool filter longer, he should be able to bring it around. The filter was only set to run one hour a day and Ryan said in the summer it should be at least 5 hours. He checked out the pump and filter and said the pump was original equipment from 2002 and at some point would probably need to be replaced, along with the control board. They were working, so his advice was to wait for them to fail and then replace them, instead of replacing them now (I appreciated that, because when I get a new contractor, I am always afraid they will try to up sell me!). He also said the filter pressure was on the high side and asked me when was the last time they were cleaned. As the new homeowner, I didn't know, so he pulled them out and it looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. He cleaned them up and reinstalled them, but we decided to go ahead and have him replace them. Three months later, the pump failed, so Ryan came out and installed a new variable speed pump that will cut our electric cost of running the filter by two-thirds. We also decided to have him install a new control panel, so that we can control the pool with our iPhones, instead of having to go to the outside panel. I know this is a long review, but if you are looking for a quality pool service person, who can do more than just clean your pool, give Ryan a call. He shows up every week, does a great job in cleaning your pool, responds quickly to calls and texts, and always gives you a head's up if it looks like something with your pool needs attention. read more
