I've been going to Dr. Acosta for my dental stuff basically since he started his practice at Daly City. Several years now, and it's always been a consistent experience -- a fun and relaxing afternoon WHILE getting my dental health taken care of! The important stuff - Dr. Acosta is hands down the best dentist I've been to. - He does an amazing job of cleaning, all while having a very gentle hand (unlike other dentists that can make your gums sore) - He also takes note on how you react to anesthetics, to make sure that you are appropriately numb for dental work that require those. - He takes the time to explain everything he's doing / needs to do so you are 100% clear on everything happening. - I've even had an emergency of sorts one time, when my temp filling got loose (completely my fault, I've been instructed to eat only soft food, and I didn't listen!) and I couldn't get it back on. One call and I was quickly scheduled for appointment for the next day, and Dr. Acosta gave me more instructions on what to do to keep things clean until then. - The front desk staff are appropriately just as good -- they'll explain everything regarding insurance and payments. They'll also do their damned best to get you an appointment that will work well for your schedule. Now, on to the things they do to exceed your expectations: - Let's get started with location. Aside from fog, what is not to like with Pacifica? Despite his new location being technically farther from my place, I'm very happy with it. - Then onto the office -- once you get in, you actually have to remind yourself that it's a dental place. The place is very inviting and relaxing at the same time. - The same goes with their staff -- it's amazing how they can be happy-and-friendly-and-all-smiles-all-the-time regardless of how busy their entire day has been. - Once you're settled in on the chair, guess what? You can watch a TV show of your choice, and/or listen to music of your choice. - Finally, everyone here treats you like family. Dr Acosta and the staff will ask how you've been doing, how your work/family/hobbies/vacations/etc etc have been. Whoa, what a wall of text of a review! So glad that I found Dr. Acosta! I went in for regular oral exam and teeth cleaning twice. Jim (Hygienist) is wonderful! I had bleeding on one side of my mouth and he made sure he was careful with that area. At the same time, he gave me plenty of tips to keep my teeth healthy. I have very small mouth and it is difficult to brush the inner teeth. Jim showed me a great way to get my toothbrush further back to clean my teeth and prevent plaque buildup. I also had to replace a filling and fix a cavity. Dr. Acosta did a wonderful job but one of the filling was giving me problems. This was no problem at all because Dr. Acosta adjusted it for me and its great now! Not only is Dr. Acosta's work very high quality but he very nice guy. He remembers details from our conversations and is very genuine about getting to know his patients. I got my husband to see Dr Acosta and my husband HATES to go see the dentist. My husband is very satisfied even though he has to do alot of work (bc he didn't see the dentist for a long time prior to Dr. Acosta) Another great thing about Dr. Acosta is that he doesn't sell you services. If he thinks that you do not need it...then you don't need it. I've been to other dentist who simply just wants to sell you as many services as possible even if it is not necessary. Dr. Acosta's office is absolutely beautiful. Relaxing music plays in the background as you enter a well appointed color scheme that seems more like a spa than a dentist office. There are flat screen TV's in the waiting room and examination room, with viewing choices. They'll even change the music for you. Along with the amazing surroundings, you'll find a friendly accommodating staff. They even have a cool texting option for appointment updates and reminders. Put all of this aside, and Dr. Acosta himself is hands down the absolute best dentist I've ever met. He is caring, patient, professional, well spoken and extremely knowledgeable. You can tell he cares about his patients and loves what he does. This is really in a class all by itself. I was worried about my daughter growing out of the pediatric dentist that she loves, but not now. I know that will be a very smooth transition. I am actually not dreading my follow up work. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. John Acosta. My husband HATES going to the dentist and used to put it off for years in between visits, until I finally realized what the issue was. Dr. John Acosta was recommended by some friends in the Pacifica Mothers' Club and he and his wife are members of PMC and I wanted to support a local dentist (as I was going in SF before), so I switched over, and was so happy. I signed up my husband as well, and he agreed it was his best dentist experience ever. Everyone in the office is super nice, and they have a beautiful new office with great technology now in Linda Mar. He does a super job of talking to you first, explaining everything, being really gentle and understanding and supportive if you have had bad experiences in the past (as my husband did). They are fair, honest, thoughtful and genuinely nice people!. From a young age, I always dreaded sitting in that uncomfortable chair and being shamed for my lack of flossing, and this has continued into my young adult life. After getting fed up with the lack of professionalism and curt attitude of another local dental practice in Pacifica, I decided to make the switch over to Pacific Coast Dental. Hearing buzz about their new practice opening up, I decided to make an appointment for a check-up/evaluation, and I was blown away at the difference in professionalism that I found at Pacific Coast Dental. From the hospitality behind the front desk to the in depth evaluation I received from Dr. Acosta, I left a dentist office feeling refreshed and formally educated on my dental health for the first time in my life. As someone with a tough dental history (who knew my previous dentists weren't great? :( ) I could not be more appreciative of Dr. Acosta and his team. They are friendly, attentive, and most importantly - EXPERTS. Dr. Acosta always thoroughly explains every procedure and makes sure I am comfortable before and during the process. During cleanings, the hygienists are gentle and thorough and I always leave feeling like a new person. I love their proactive stance on dental hygiene; they take the time to walk me through everything going on with my teeth and are big on preventative measures to help mitigate any further damage. The waiting area and dental rooms are clean and I especially appreciate having a TV on the ceiling to keep me distracted from what's going on in my mouth. I hate the dentist because my previous dentist was really bad. I began searching for a dentist around the Daly City area once I got my insurance from work. Every time I did a search, Dr. Acosta's name would be on top of the result. I read the reviews and all of them were positive. Compare to other dentist in the area, I would say that he is the only one who doesn't have a negative review on his page. So I went ahead and submitted an appointment request. I was surprised when I received a call on the same day and was able to make an appointment right away. The people are very nice and accommodating. Dr. Acosta cares about his patient and he tries to make you feel comfortable before he proceeds with whatever treatment you are in for. He knows that being at a dentist is nerve racking, so he explains all the procedure he is about to do. I would definitely keep him as my dentist and would highly recommend Dr. Acosta to other people. read more

I've been going to see Dr. Acosta for about a year and a half and he is an AWESOME, AWESOME dentist!! I'm glad they moved to Pacifica to their new office, which looks great and there's free parking! The drive to Pacifica is not far and it's relaxing .....it feels like you're getting away from SF and Daly City for the day. I really enjoy spending time catching up laughing and talking with Dr. Acosta, Ann and Geraldine. Dr. Acosta decided to do a comprehensive exam and unlike other dentists that run from one patient to another patient to another patient, Dr. Acosta took pictures of my teeth and then sat down, showed me the pictures and talked to me about what treatment needed to be done. I was able to explain to him what my concerns are about my teeth without any interruptions. It's pretty cool to have a great relationship with my dentist and his staff. Thanks guys!! read more

Thank you for the opportunity to review this dental practice. I had my first visit to Dr. Acosta's office yesterday and I was very impressed. Both my 3yr old son and I had appointments and the experience was 5 star for both of us. The front and back office staff were friendly, helpful and flexible. The exam rooms are modern, clean and set up in a way that both the adult and child patient has something to do and see. Dr. Acosta and his dental hygienist Jim were incredibly professional, friendly, and thorough, while providing education and suggestions during the visit. My son had his first dentist visit too, and he did great, thanks to Dr. Acosta and his entire staff. I am pleased to be able to go back for all of our preventive and chronic dental care. I had my second visit today and I have not one complain... If I could I would rate them 10 stars! I'm the biggest chicken when it comes to visiting the dentist and I'm happy to say that everything went smooth - - no pain whatsoever!!! I really loved Pacific Coast Dental @ 1279 Linda Mar Shopping Center, Pacifica. Everyone in the office was super sweet especially Justine Howard. She's a very sweet and knowledgable young lady who knows her stuff. Dr. John Acosta was very professional, personable and gentle and through each step, he explained what he was going to do next, which I admired about him. I never thought I would ever say this, but since I started going to Pacific Coast Dental, I LOVE going to the dentist. Pacific Coast Dental is the best! The entire staff is extremely friendly and does their best to make you feel at ease. Dr. Acosta is very professional and also has a great sense of humor. Jim is the best hygienist ever! His cleanings are pain-free and my teeth have never looked better. The office also has the latest in dental technology. I had to have a crown and it was custom made for me in their special machine as I waited. No more temporary crowns! The office people are also very helpful and pleasant. This was my 1st time there for X-rays and a cleaning after leaving my previous dentist. I have a fear of dentists and was nervous. Connie my hygienist was awesome, told me step by step what she was doing. I met with Dr Acosta after and he explained what I needed done. Yvonne the office manager definitely knows her stuff. I've had loads of dental work done in previous years and Ive got to say this was a very pleasant experience and I gained a wealth of knowledge. Their equipment is top notch. I had teeth cleaning, fillings and now going through Invisalign treatment. All my visits have been pleasant and friendly. This place is great! and Dr. Acosta is amazing. Not only is everyone always very friendly and accommodating, they go the extra mile for the patient. One time, I needed some dental work done because I was leaving on a vacation soon, and they offered to come in on a satursay when they are usually closed, just so I don't have to worry about dental problems while on vacation. I can honestly say I love going to the dentist! I moved to the area a few years ago and I'm so lucky to have found PCDG! The staff is so kind, caring, and patient and Dr. Acosta always makes me feel comfortable and well informed!
