The jet ski experience itself was great. The water was smooth, we had plenty of room to ride around, and the views were phenomenal. However, what made the overall experience poor was the customer service from both the receptionist and the guide, especially the guide. The guide had a very snarky attitude toward my group and another group. His explanation of how to operate the jet ski felt rushed, and when my friend asked a question, he responded rudely and acted like the answer should have been obvious. We simply asked what would happen if the jet ski flipped, since he mentioned that it was a possibility. His response was, "There are instructions on the bottom, don't let them sink." Not to mention he wore a hood the entire time, barely looked up at us, and had his back turned to us for basically the entirety of the 5 min introduction. I get that the talk is repetitive and I don't expect anything grand, but simple eye contact and a little bit of care in it would go a long way. Considering this was my first time on a jet ski, it would have been better to receive a response with more care, urgency, and clear safety guidance, especially when discussing the possibility of flipping a heavy machine in the middle of the bay. Although the views were beautiful and the ride itself was enjoyable I feel like that's to be expected, this is not an experience I would want to return to because of the poor quality of customer service and lack of care from the staff. read more

Celebrated my birthday in San Diego, and hubby said lets jet ski. We are so happy we chose Luxury Jet Ski Rentals. Booking was simple. We purchased an hour for two jet skis. Once we arrived, we paid for parking at the marina, which was about $2 per hour. They have signs up to indicate where the jet ski booth is located. There were no crazy deposit price points. You literally just book your time, which was $50 every 30minutes. If you want insurance, they offer $15 for 75% coverage and $10 for 50% coverage. This is subject to change i'm sure, but this is what we were offered during time of service. Ali helped us with our paper work, and took us down to the docks. He gave us specific instructions on where not to go on our route. There is an active military presence on the bay, so be careful. After we left the canal, we booked it down to the Coronado Bridge. Rented two jet skis for the day, and one of them wasn't working right from the start. We spent more than half our rental time trying to troubleshoot the issue and calling the number they gave us -- no one ever answered. We went back early to report the problem and were basically dismissed. They tried to claim their tracker showed we were still in the slow zone the whole time, but that's just false -- we were at least 150 meters out in the ocean when the issues started. Since then, I've been trying to get in touch with a manager or the owner, but no luck. They don't even give out a name -- not in person, not on their website, nowhere. It honestly feels like they know their business is shady and hide behind that on purpose. Paid full price, lost half the time, got zero support, and can't get anyone to own up to it. Would not recommend booking with them. read more

The SeaDoos where newer which was a perk but they had a lot of control over the operation of the SeaDoo... our SeaDoo just didn't feel the safest it kept pulling towards the right, which i had to keep adjusting to straighten it out by turning the opposite direction, I mentioned this and was ignored by one of the workers. Then told that the automatic stabilizer looks fine. The main representative was understanding and stated next time I come back to let him know and he'll do something for me. Very respectful, and courteous. Overall the experience was sub par at best, would give them another chance, but not eager to go out of my way. read more

Found this place on Groupon - $89 for a 2-seater for 90 minutes. Really can't beat that deal and I searched every available rental outfit in the San Diego area. The staff was excellent. Very kind, friendly, helpful, and patient. I imagine they deal with a lot of crazy stuff but they were all wonderful and I highly commend them. If you're staying in San Diego, you'll have to drive about 8-10 minutes south to the harbor in National City. Not a big deal but you'll need to know that before booking. It turns out that 90 minutes was more time than we needed. Initially, I thought we needed 2 hours but that wasn't the case. My daughter and I drove all over the bay. Under the Coronado bridge and all the way back to the Ocean Park area which was pretty far. It got a bit choppy out there but we never felt unsafe. The jet skis are equipped with a safety feature that automatically slows your ski down to 5 mph when you're in a "no wake" zone, too close to shore, or too close to another jet ski. I recommend these folks if you're interested in jet skiing in San Diego. read more

I had been looking forward to this experience all day, but it ended up being very disappointing. Our booking was scheduled for 5:30, yet due to delays with other customers we didn't get started until 6:10. By that time, the waves were stronger, and no one explained that the jet ski would automatically slow down if it was near another one. Even though I wasn't actually that close to anyone, mine would not go faster than about 3 mph, which made it impossible to control and quite stressful. Unfortunately, this was the complete opposite. We ended up turning back by 6:30 yet still paid $100 for less than 20 minutes of frustration. Plus It was especially scary when the jet ski wasn't working properly in the middle of the bay while the waves were so high. I started panicking, thinking the jet ski might flip, and I wasn't even sure if I would be able to make it back safely. So was just floating in the 5 mile zone and turned back The staff were polite, but the lack of clear communication, the poor timing, and the chaotic process ruined the experience. At the very least, they could have offered a partial refund. Hopefully they improve their service so other visitors don't have the same experience. read more
