I was referred to Pacific Dermatologist from Kaiser. What an amazing place! From walking in to a great smile from the receptionist. Wait time in the reception area about 10 minutes! No time to be nervous. Met with Madison Peterson, great bedside manner, explained everything precisely. She went to work on my lip and now I am just waiting for my results. The best part was her assistant, Shirley, she sensed I spoke Spanish. After the procedure, she explained everything again in Spanish. What a blessing this office was. Had a biopsy and was told at the time it could take up to 10 days or so. I guess the "or so" meant it could take much, much longer. After about a month I tried to call the Palm Desert office which I had the direct number. The automated answering machine said I was number one in rotation. I stayed on another 20 minutes before someone picked up the line and then promptly hung up. I tried to call over and over and got placed on the excessively long hold. So I went by their office and saw that the person working the front desk had all of the incoming lines placed on hold while she chatted with other staff and spent time on her cell and the company computer. In the 15 minutes I was there no incoming calls were answered. Staff too lazy. I let management know and they agreed this was unacceptable. Nevertheless, this is the one star customer care you can expect. Try another dermatologist and avoid the grief and disappointment. read more

This establishment was more concerned about me leaving a review then giving me a thorough examination. I have very sun damaged heavily moled and freckled skin. I go in for all over skin evaluations 1-2 times a year. I've had skin cancer once. This was my second time here. Both times with different nurse practitioners I've received maybe a 2 min exam. Everyone I encountered was friendly. I was not happy with the examination. I felt she could have taken more time. I will be going elsewhere from now on. read more

While I had a great experience with Dr Munyon who did surgery for a melanoma, the visits after at the Palm Desert facility have been less than productive. I was advised to be seen every 3 months for skin checks. They do not schedule more than 30 days out. Not easy to get an appointment. I went a few weeks ago and was advised I needed several areas treated with nitrogen spraying. Have been doing this for years and the nitrogen was dine right after the skin check and in the same visit. This time I'm advised they no longer do that and I will need to make another appt to do this. I went today and learned that the PA who had been so good was no longer there. I met a doctor who was very pleasant but who had not read my chart before meeting with me and had to ask the assistant where he was to spray the nitrogen. One of the places she told him had nothing there! I was in and out in 15 minutes. Because of another medical issue, I drive very little. To drive there and be there such a shirt time for something that could have been done in minutes the previous visit is very aggravating. Are they just trying to get more money by having 2 appts instead of 1? But even more upsetting is that the payment for the lab work for the melanoma biopsy has been rejected by Medicare for being out of network. I asked their office several times to help me get this straightened out and they never responded. I had to file a written appeal with the insurance and gave a copy to the office asking them to help me out. No response again. Today I asked if any answers and was advised they would check into it. Later called to say it was worked out yet yesterday I received another Medicare statement showing I'm still responsible for almost $2,000 dollars of the billing. Doesn't seem worked out to me. Time to look elsewhere for needed skin checks going forward. read more

The said I was next- 15 mins later the Dr. came in. She was pleasant and seemed efficient, however two hours later when I went to pick up my prescriptions I learned they had not yet been called in. Madison is a very caring and thorough PA and I enjoyed my first visit to Pacific Dermatology. She was able to diagnose something I've dealt with since I was 15 and is rarely diagnosed because it's a very rare skin condition that normally takes 6 years to diagnose. She prescribed two medications that have nearly healed my condition in a matter of days. I had tried Milligan's Dermatology and couldn't even get the doctor to look at my condition and left there so frustrated that I almost gave up. First time at this office-got there 15 min early to complete paperwork. Then waited 50 min after appointment time before being seen. I did pop my head out and ask staff if they forgot me. I think it would have been better if someone came into the exam room to let me know how much longer. Dr Munyon was very pleasant- medical visit, and did a few freezings with liquid nitrogen and had a treatment plan before leaving. The staff interactions were pleasant and professional.
