Dr. Pamela Broska is a wonderful professional skin dr. My husband was diagnosed and had surgery for Melanoma around 10 years ago, and we have been so grateful to her for the Medical knowledge and screenings (every 3 months) and Mohs procedures she has done with so much skill and care. It's rare to find a dr who treats you like she is treating you like family and invests in your life and makes sure my husband will be safe. What wonderful nurses and assistants we have met and we give a shout out to Estella whom we adore. The front office has always been super wonderful and helpful to get scheduled for appointments. After my six month check up today, I left the office feeling dismissed by Deanna, a PA in Dr. Broska's office. I appreciate doctors who listen and avoid making condescending comments, and she is not one of them. She leaves the impression that she doesn't take the time to be thorough or project a caring attitude. Furthermore, I know others who have had similar experiences, including my husband. Yesterday (November 28, 2023), I had a regular follow-up appointment with Dr. Broska (every six months). I went to Dr. Broska the first time in 2017 to check on some things that concerned me and I received the MOHS treatment for an area on my right earlobe. I have had various other things that have "shown up" and fortunately, they have all been treatable and she has taken excellent care of me! In my twenties, thirties and forties, I was in the sun a great deal - out on the ocean, deep sea fishing - or in the desert, working in my garden - and just generally not using any sunscreen, not wearing a hat, sleeveless much of the time - it felt good to be in the sun! So I am glad I found Dr. Broska who has been keeping tabs on me. I want to mention today what a pleasure it is to visit the offices of Dr. Broska at West Dermatology. The staff there are always so nice and efficient; it is a very nice atmosphere of quiet professionalism . . . there is a tv you can watch in one area but everything is pleasantly serene. Also, Dr. Broska has the most immaculate and pristine offices, everything from floors to counters to furniture and the picture frames is so immaculate. The cleanliness inspires confidence that the doctor and her assistants care about everything being 100% good for the patient. No dust bunnies! Plus, everything is so cheerful, to help put you in a better frame of mind, to think about something lovely. Her paintings and other artwork placed around the offices are so pretty and interesting - it makes for something else to think about rather than fixating on worrisome things. I just had my First Dermatology check for a spot on my nose. Saw Diana Garza, PA-C. She was very kind, through and explained everything. Including what would and would not be covered by Ins. I decided to get a full body skin check. She gave me choices . Nothing needed to be done. Just watched. Will definitely return here as needed. Her Assistant Maria was very nice as well. read more

Dr. Broska is fine, once she arrives in the patient room. I have been a patient for a few years and have bi-annual skin checks. At each appointment I have waited between 60 - 75 minutes to be seen. I always bring a book since I know I'll get some reading time in! I've also had several biopsies and not once have I been informed of the results, despite several calls to the office inquiring. It may be time to look for a new dermatologist. read more

I had Mathew do my facial injections. I'm happy now because he did in the end please me. Very accommodating. Receptionist an alarmist. Said Mathew had to leave, when he did not. I wish there was a large mirror in room. I evaluate my results in how I look totally. Put magazines in rooms. I will go back to Mathew. that is the most important part. read more

Don't know which appt to discuss here, but was not happy with either one. First two visits were with P.A Smith. I felt very rushed through my appts. I was asked questions but seemed like the answers were of no interest. Gave what I needed for my visit, done. Not to mention the receptionists from both sides of the facility are very rude at each visit I went in for. (Well except maybe for one) Last visit was with Dr. Broska, my husband was with me. She mentioned a "term" a couple of times that was a bit concerning and when I called her few days later to voice my concerns, denied she said them. (I know I wasnt hearing things, my husband heard the same thung) She asked me to schedule with her the following week and I didn't. Will not return there again. Very unprofessional. (Sidenote: Dr Broska, mentioned "scarring" as a result of multiple treatment which is bad, not only did she deny saying that, but her PA Smith, neglected to tell me that as well.) read more

I has a small raised dark sore on my calf. Matt did a shaved biopsy. Two week later a woman called me with a very serious tone in her voice. "You have skin cancer". I asked what kind, since melanoma is serious. She said it was squamous cell carcinoma. Not being near my eyes that is no big deal. She said I had to see Matt, who is a PA. I asked what does it take for me to see a board certified dermatologist and she gave me, begrudgingly, an appointment to see Dr Braska. As soon as I arrived I asked to see the pathology report. I had a lot of experience with these before I retired. It did not have a cancer staging on it and looked odd. It was squamous cell in situ, which means it has not reached the level of skin but was on the surface. I used my phone and it said is is 60 to 85% in females ( I am male) and it 60-80% in lower leg, and mine was. It also said the first conservative treatment is 5-FU, which is a cream. As path reports go this one was barely adequate. The path lab is part of this practice and not independent. It never said how many cancer cells they found. It never gave a type of squamous. IT had no pictures of microscopic examinations. I would give the report a D. When I saw the doctor I told her I had been looking at Wikopedia in her waiting room and she groaned audibly. I recited the above to her and she admitted those facts are correct. Then I asked her what the most conservative treatment options were. She said it can be burned off, or a larger incision can be made or MOHS surgery. Anything else? No. Then I took out of my pocket a box with a brand new tube of 5-FU that one of my daughters have given my wife and I. This is topical chemo. She blanched. She tried to cover herself by saying that using the cream for two weeks twice a day could cause itching. She would like to see me again in five weeks and thereafter in three months. Why? There is no risk of recurrence. There is no risk of metastisizing to any other organ. It is no big deal and barley meets in criteria for calling it cancer except theoretically. In fairness almost no dermatologists who are in free standing offices will tell you about 5-FU. They cannot make any money by merely writing a RX. West Dermatology (named after a Dr named 'West' is many, many offices in SoCal). And it is a big business with cosmetics leading the list of procedures. For a great article on how these types of practices use physician assistants and not board certified doctors I refer you to a long piece in the New York Times last November 2016. It is shameful how they are treating the patients like we are cattle in a feed lot. Using 5_FU is something I learned about from a friend who was a plastic surgeon. He said no dermatologist will tell you about it because they cannot make any money merely writing an RX. How right he was. Dermatology is highly sought after by med students (two of my daughters are doctors but not dermatologists). Some of their friends were trying to get in because it is highly lucrative. no nights, no weekends and no hospital looking over your shoulder. West Pharmaceutical is right from the mold. Unsupervised PA's are seeing medical patients while the doctor is seeing the highly profitable cosmetic patients. So much for skin cancer. The choices in the desert of seeing a dermatologist who will treat squamous cell and basel cell is very limited. They all are making a living doing cosmetic work. IT is one of the draw backs to living here. With an emphasis on looks over health one can see why. So West Derm. is standard for the area. If you can, see a dermatologist somewhere else in the country. You are in face peel, Botox, face lift country. read more

Waiting in Dr. Broska's waiting room for 20 minutes and was then shown into the "inner sanctum" where I waited for 45 minutes!!!!! No Magazines in there either. I finally stuck my head out and asked if I was forgotten. That was my last visit! I work and to take the time out of work to be so disrespected made me boil. Not the first time this has happened, but this was the worst time! I'm gone! read more

They did a biopsy but PA did not give me anything for the pain and told me to just take Tylenol. I was in a lot of pain. Even though I came back 2 more times after complaining of pain. read more

I've been a patient of West Dermatology for over a decade and have never experienced any treatment as poor as has been described by some reviewers. I have a tendancy toward squamous cell carcinoma formation so I'm in their office twice a year I usually wait no more than 5 minutes in the waiting room or the examination room to be seen by P. A. I no longer go to Dr. Broska, because I have better things to do with an hour than to sit in her waiting room with many many other people waiting for your scheduled appointment. They might as well do a lottery while you're there, you would have a better chance of getting closer to your scheduled appointment time. read more

I have been a patient of West Dermatology for about three years. My only reason to see a Dermatologist was for an annual skin cancer check up. For each appointment that I have made, about 3 or 4, I was never seen at my scheduled time. Once I was ushered into a treatment room about 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment, and then I sat there for another 20 minutes. Yesterday, I had an appointment with Dr. Broska at 3:15 PM. At 3:40 I inquired as to the delay. At 3:45 I was advised that the Dr. was running behind and it would be a bit longer until I was able to be seen. That was enough for me and I departed the office. I must tell Dr. Broska and her staff, that my time is just as important as Dr. Broska's and I will now see another Dermatologist in the area. read more

I had the good fortune of being treated by Dr. Broska for a blister on my face. My blister had been bleeding uncontrollably on my face for several months. Dr. Broska quickly diagnosed and treated me in the most professional manner possible. 10 days since my appointment and my blister is now a distant memory. Dr Broska is a fine Doctor, it's her incompetent front office staff that will keep you away... I called 4 times to have results from a biopsy given and each time I was told someone would call me back... After 2 weeks of trying, I finally called my PCP to intervene, and call over there. I have yet to here the results of my biopsy...Terrible service with no apologies.. If your Dr refers you to this office, ask for someone else. You won't regret it. read more

I was sitting there for my 10 am appointment and a woman who had been there when I arrived was visibly upset about how long she had been waiting. Her husband finally said, "that's enough, let's go". I waited until 10:20 and heard the concierge tell a woman, we are running at least 45 minutes late. I got up and told the girl, I will not wait and left. No respect for the clients.
