I was shocked by the quality of this hotel breakfast. I got to try the omelette, which came with bacon and hash browns on the side. The ingredients tasted very fresh and high quality. It was a lovely, lovely balanced breakfast. Coffee and refills were also included and that was also really great! Never thought I would or could enjoy a hotel breakfast this much. It was also reasonably priced and the portion size was large enough to share for 2. Everything is also made to order so they were able to take adjustments. Wife and I checked in and didn't have time to leave for food so we ate here. It had some mixed reviews but we stayed anyways. We had a great meal and the service was good. We were the first customers of the evening. The prices are what they are. We felt like our food was worth what we paid considering where we were and what we ate. This is a restaurant attached tot the Hilton Garden Inn. Because the Garden Inn doesn't include breakfast in the room rate, it is hot or miss what you're going to get. Sometimes it's too expensive for what you get. NOT the case here. Made to order breakfast is $16, and the portions are great. The wait staff is great and very accommodating. You can pay a lot more for much smaller portions, of food that is not as good in other places in Monterey. Truthfully this breakfast made up for some other shortfalls in the hotel (see separate review). Note: I only ate breakfast here, I can't comment on dinner. read more

Honestly just avoid this place. We ate here after a long day in Monterey and it was terrible. The turkey sandwich was deli meat on wheat bread for $11 and the order was wrong when it arrived. I ordered the angel hair pasta $17 and it was salty and not good. The only redeeming quality about this place was the French fries. Total bull? $45 and the only thing I can account for is the $2 delivery fee and 20% service charge so how much were those fries? Just get pizza delivered if you don't feel like going out. read more

This restaurant is Part of the Hilton hotel. Stopped by for an evening meal as we had just arrived at the hotel after traveling all day and were looking for a light easy on the body meal. Restaurant appears upscale and there were few customer during our visit. Wait service was great. Selected the French Onion Soup and it was one of the best I have had anywhere. Soup portions were generous and were of excellent taste. The salad was salad. A bit on the pricy side but it is more upscale than a lot of dinner houses so still reasonable for a resort hotel setting Restaurant appeared clean and well maintained. read more

I was sitting in my car for about 30 minutes, looking at the local restaurants that would satisfy the desire that I was having for a decent Burger. It dawned on me to check the reviews at the Hotel restaurant. There were some good reviews and some negative and I thought that I would try it out. I am so glad I did. The food at the hotel is under rated. The service was great and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was clean and had a good atmosphere. There were some nice late 70s soft rock playing. I ordered a burger and added avocado and bacon with no onions. Too many onions start to upset my tummy. I thought it would be fun to try the sweet potato fries instead of the regular fries. As if this didn't sound good enough they also had a Sriracha mayo that was available on the side as a dipping sauce. Let me tell you, this meal really hit the spot. I just completed about an hour work out and I can already feel how my body is using all those nutrients to build muscles. I highly recommend eating at the Hotel restaurant if you find yourself staying at the hotel or in the area. read more

We had dinner here our last night in Monterey and like one of the other reviewers, I was very satisfied with the ribeye entree. Great fresh veggies and mashed potatoes as well. My wife enjoyed the mahi mahi (which was a special) and I fell our meal was good value as every place is kind of expensive these days. If you have the vomit emoji, just look at that to remind yourself this is not where you want to eat.....disgusting! Extremely limited menu, a staff that cannot speak English and rude, yea yea the COVID excuse has been overplayed which is the reason why they weren't offering a full menu. So since you could have wings, a salad, burger, blt or chicken sandwich I went with the burger. Ok, how do you screw up a burger? It was literally a crunchy hockey puck between two fall apart dry buns and the fries had probably been cooked an hour or so earlier cold and bland, no seasoning or even salt. Good luck trying to get the staffs attention for maybe some ketchup or mustard. Needless to say I didn't even bother to finish the burger, since you couldn't get a refill of water to wash it down. So....wait wait wait, another 10 minutes before I could finally flag someone down to ask for my check, I should just walked but that's not right...but to anyone else considering the place please do walk....right on by! read more

I had the Chicken Marsala and it was wonderful. My husband had the halibut and he cleared his plate, which is odd. Don't hesitate eating at the hotel. Very Good and well worth the price! Stayed at the Hilton hotel for one night. Gold members get complementary breakfast, so we were pretty jazzed. We were in a bit of a hurry, so we didn't check out the make your own omelette bar (it looked like this was it). I had some sub par eggs, hash browns, bacon and sausage. the options were pretty okay, but the price for the food quality wasn't there. It was pretty much a plus bonus continental breakfast, definitely not worth the 15$ that would have been spent if we were not gold members. If you do not get it for free then I would explore other options in the Monterey area. read more

This is a great place to start your day. The chefs are all great guys. I get poached, over easy, scrambled eggs and they are always amazing. The omelets are great as well. I did not eat much there, but the onion soup I had was good! A bit too salty though. Served in nice bowls with a reasonable price. Our waiter, Alex was awesome! He helped us get what we needed (lemon, honey, hot water) really fast. He was very sympathetic and smiley. The only bad thing: we asked to have our bread heated... I think it was done in a microwave... because it was floppy and not crunchy. It is not a very fine dining place... but a nice hotel restaurant... Not pretentious and good. read more

We rolled into the HGI after a long day and decided to have a quick bite at their onsite restaurant the Pacific Grille. Wow were we pleasantly surprised! Admittedly we only shared a quesadilla but it was the best one we've ever had. The next two mornings we had their breakfast buffet with made to order omelets, pancakes and French toast - amazing! Tons of fresh fruit and what really made it five stars was the chef who couldn't have been friendlier. This is the breakfast all other hotels should try to be! read more

My boyfriend and I had a twenty five dollar gift certificate and had never been before, but we will be back... We had the French onion soup and mussels that were both good, followed by the Rib-eye and amazing pork chops. So good! This restaurant is connected to the Hilton Garden Inn, and so this review only applies to their breakfast buffet. In a word, it is awesome. I usually don't make breakfast my big meal, but everything was fresh and tasty! Monterey is beautiful, but I'd consider staying another day just for the breakfast! read more

Dinner was just ok. Pricey for what it is. We ordered a steak sandwich, Mobley burger, and two of the kids' mac and cheese. Mac and cheese was strange. It tasted like a blend of American or Velveeta, and who knows what? Neither kid ate but a few bites. Ordered a side of fruit. $5 seems like a lot for that. I guess I should've asked about the price ahead of time. Steak sandwich was good. Could've been better if they sliced up the steak rather just placing it on the bread. Hubby said the burger was good. Server was nice. He never offered to refill our sodas, so that was a little annoying. read more

I am truly a fan of this place for both breakfast and dinner, the impressive breakfast is a buffet for way less than you would expect. They have chefs that prepare omelets and pancakes to order, a waffle iron, and all the juices and breakfast items most of us can expect. As for dinner, they have awesome steak and chicken sandwiches, and a sizable menu to choose. It's a hotel restaurant so I went in with pretty low expectations and it met those low expectations. There were quite a few options and they were edible but a bit bland. We were all hungry after a long day at the beach so while it hit the spot it was by no means delicious food we'd come back for. Sunday buffet was disappointing. The fruit bar was gross. The grapes were brown and bruised. The pineapple overripe. Fruit was left whole and chopped up and thrown in bowls leaving it all up to you to do all the work to peel it and prepare it yourself in order to eat it. Staff was friendly. Ate here one night for its proximity to the Hilton hotel. The server was nice and the ambiance was nice - linen napkins and good silverware and stemware are appreciated. We both had a basic capillini dish of dried tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and olives tossed in olive oil and asked for chicken to be added. They were accommodating and the added chicken was good. They had a children's menu and the grilled cheese and fries from it were good too. The ambiance was subdued and quiet. TERRIBLE! The Turkey burger was disgusting, the fries tasteless, the ribs tasteless and the drinks weak! 2 of the servers looked totally unfit to serve food; untrimmed beards, long uncombed hair and just overall dirty looking and the food followed suite. YUCK! read more

When visiting Monterey for the first time, we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn and came here for breakfast at the end of our stay. From what I remember, we got there at a little before 8 AM and about a quarter of the tables were filled. They had a good variety of breakfast food. On the buffet table they had cut up pieces of fruit plus bananas, apples, etc. They had toast and english muffins and croissants and danishes and pastries. They also had chefs that could make you eggs and omelets anyway you want, pancakes, waffles, french toast - all made to order! Because it wasn't too crowded, the food I ordered from the chefs came out quick and they were very nice. I would say the place was clean and I didn't have any issues. I came here wanting a quick, convenient, good breakfast and that's exactly what I got. read more

This place is great if you get the right server. There's one who I believe has been there for over 20 years and he is just the best. I never have an empty cup or feel the need to wave him down. A little pricey but the food is good and the portioning for some plates is definitely enough to share. (Specifically the seafood pasta!) My friends and I went here because one of us had difficulty walking and it was in the hotel where we were staying. I ordered halibut with a tomato-based sauce of sliced cherry tomatoes and chopped pickle. It was okay- but I'm not a big one for sauces. The fresh, grilled vegetables were excellent because they were "fresh-picked" and perfectly cooked. I like my vegetables to be cooked between "tendercrisp" and soft. I had decaf coffee which was the best decaf I have ever had.! The service was prompt, but more attention needed to be given to details. I had ordered a serving of mayonnaise on the side which never came. The server should have checked back to see if we needed anything else but we only saw her again when we chased her down for the bill. The bill was totally messed up too. read more

Just had a fantastic dinner at Pacific Grille. Was a little concerned when I walked in and only 3 tables were occupied but it was dark and rainy and I had no wheels so I decided what the heck? Glad I stayed, everything was great. Had the ginger salmon, steamed veggies and substituted a garden salad. I was shocked when my salad came out on a regular dinner plate; it was fresh and delicious. The chef used WAY too much garlic in my pasta, cooked my scallops in a burnt pan, my husband's French fries were soggy, they didn't have half of the drinks on the drink menu, and the drinks they did have were terrible. However, the service was very good. read more

Amazing service, incredible food. The spinach salad was really good and the mushroom ravioli was super yummy! Love this place!!
