OMG their lobster tail dish is incredible! My dad and I went to this restaurant twice during our trip even if it meant driving extra because of their lobster tail dish. The cook is great and the seasoning is just right. The butter with herbs is sooo good too with the warm bread. We sat outside for the first time and sat inside the second time and I think the inside is better. If you can get a seat by the water, even better because the view is so nice. The service is also attentive and professional. Highly recommend this place!

I usually don't get fish and chips but I loved the quality here. I haven't been to Monterey since I was a kid, but the service here was really good. I really enjoyed talking to our server and she was helpful in recommending stuff!

Great place for dinner! Great service. Dog friendly outdoor seating. Clam chowder was flavorful and the sourdough bread was nice and soft. The cioppino was delicious! The sauce they used was just the right amount of garlicky. Would definitely come here again!

This place is pricey, as you'd expect at a tourist spot. We ordered the classic Cioppino and clam chowder in a bowl. Cioppino: - Soup: 5/5. Loved the flavor. Works great with the complementary bread. - Prawn and calamari: 5/5. Awesome. - Mussel: 4/5. Fresh and big, but fishy. - Clam: 2/5. So fresh (?) that it has sea water in it? It's really salty for some reason. Clam chowder: 5/5. No complaints on the texture and flavor. Very creamy. But overpriced.

A friend recommended that if we were in Monterey, we needed to stop by Café Fina and try their clam chowder. It was two in the afternoon, when we finally made it in to Monterey. We were a little hungry. We found our way to fisherman's wharf, And were seated very quickly at Café Fina. The staff is excellent. They do not rush you. They make sure that you have everything you need. Our table was great. It had a view of the water and we got to watch sea lions and seagulls. We split an order of fish and chips and had a cup of clam chowder. The clam chowder was rich and creamy. They use Alaskan cod for their fish and chips. It was cooked nicely and the batter was not too thick. I can definitely recommend this place.

Nice place on the wharf with a great view to watch the sea life. We were a party of 10. Each ordering a variety of dishes. My husband and I had Caesar salad with fish and chips, other guests had cioppino, lobster tails, Caesar with chicken as a main course and the fresh beets and goat cheese salad. All quite good. The service was impeccable. One waitress handled our entire table with our drinks and food.

I took my family here last week. Everything was delicious. My sister and i had the minestrone soup, which was very good. My son had the clam chowder, and it too was very good. Everyone else really enjoyed their meal. We ate upstairs and had a beutiful view of the ocean from our table. I highly recommend this place

My wife had Petrale sole, I opted for the Swordfish. Both were excellent. Add on a Caesar salad and it was a wonderful dinner. Can't say enough about the service as well. Been coming here for many years and never disappoints

Perfect day in Monterey to dine outside. Nice conversation with Dominic. The sole was perfectly prepared and the servers were attentive. Looking forward to dining here again.

I was at the Turkish Festival and wanted a bite to eat so I walked up and down the wharf. I had been to Cafe Fina a couple years ago and remembered it as a great experience. I was lucky to snag an outdoor seat. I decided on the sand dabs and what a refreshing choice! Tender and accompanied by orzo and vegetables that complemented the sand dabs so well. Different. I deliberately saved room for dessert. I came here a couple years ago and distinctly remember the amazing peach cobbler and stellar service. The server recommended the clams and linguine. I'm intrigued by the cioppino, which has pasta in it, which is untraditional. Pasta is housemade. They grow their own produce and herbs, including peaches for their cobbler. I will come back and bring someone soon.

We came here on a Sunday night with a few friends at around 4:30pm and was warmly welcomed inside. Given it was an odd time of the day to grab early dinner we were seated next to the windows facing the pier immediately. My husband and I ordered clam chowder bread bowl with garlic and herbs as well as a shrimp pasta. Each seafood item costs about ~$30. There is a $14 minimum order per person. Overall food was delicious, however it is expensive so if you are looking to go a special occasion go for it.

Great calamari, clam chowder (wonderful brother, perfect size potatoes not too big, not too many clams, not too much herbs). You could only get sourdough with the bread bowl, not for the table so that sucked. Table bread was garlic French bread or sliced warm French bread. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Cloth table linens were nice and waterfront tables are lovely. Would definitely go again. The whale watching tour (Monterey Bay Whale Watch) we did said that this is the only restaurant on the wharf that adheres to Monterey Bay Aquarium sustainable seafood catch guidelines. After our cruise they gave us vouchers for a free appetizer (garlic bread or calamari). Lots of fun photos of celebrities who have visited in lobby and stairwell were fun.

In addition, warm, freshly baked sourdough bread and butter was provided as well. We ordered our dinners, which were beautifully prepared and presented, as well as being extremely generous portions. I can honestly say that it was an exceptional meal and reasonably priced as well. As we finished our entrees, Chris the owner stopped by our table to ask if we had enjoyed our dinners. He said that his parents had opened the restaurant 76 years ago, and it continued to be a family owned and operated business. Meats are from Snake River Farms which is good to know. The fresh Pacific oysters from Fanny Bay, Canada were outstanding. So fresh and not fishy at all and plus the jalapeño onion mignonette was sweet and so good that I saved it for my steak lol I loved the cap of my prime rib but the middle was a bit chewy like it is with most prime rib. i was really glad that the steak dinners come with the mashed potatoes and stir fry spinach (also glad it wasn't creamed spinach for a change). He enjoyed his ribeye as well. The salts are really interesting and we were told to use it sparingly since the steaks were already seasoned intentionally. He ordered a glass of Emblem and I had Bee's Knees which was pretty syrupy sweet in the way that honey is with a hint of bitterness. We shared a mini key lime pie which was pretty good and exactly what you would expect. The free birthday cannoli is so fun and was presented with a sparkler but unfortunately my least favorite because of the odd tasting candied fruits in the cream. We didn't have to wait for anything that we may want or had ordered. The food however... I am genuinely confused about the reviews I have read because none of them are close to our experience, quite the opposite. Incredible service and terrible food. When you charge astronomical prices you need to actually deliver on that cost and just having good service doesn't cut it. I ordered the Carpaccio for an appetizer and it was just ok, I've had it many times throughout my life because it's one of my favorites so I was disappointed that it wasn't as good as I would have thought. Then about 50 minutes later our entree came. I got the Abalone, which I was over the moon excited about because it is such a rare delicacy and you don't see it served often. I have only ever gotten to try it once and so when I tried the first bite of my meal, disappointed is an understatement. It was overcooked and tough for abalone, and the batter was horrible. It was thick and salty, the kind of batter you would expect at a low end chain diner. The mashed potatoes were obviously an "instant" cook and ready type as though they came from a flake powder in a box or bag. The spinach was decent but also an obvious instant cook out of a bag variety. My guess is that they outsource through a third party that provides a shipping service of certain levels of food items to different restaurants and they use that. It's definitely not made from the source in the kitchen. My husband's dish was not any better. He ordered the steak of which I had a bite, thinking it may be better and my food was just a one off. He was not happy with it being he is a steak aficionado. I found it pretty mid level, not bad, but not better than a mid level restaurant would have, at least it was cooked at the correct temperature. The pricing is the real problem here. The food is not what it should be for the price point. That saying came to mind, "If you have to salt it up, you don't know how to cook". Maybe a new chef is in order, as someone who can cook a delicious meal with very little to no salt, I know it can be done and it's not that hard. We will never be going back based on the horrible food/cooking quality, outsourcing of food products, and the price gouging is just the cherry on top of the insult to the culinary world and those who respect good food and quality dining. Kudos to the excellent service, though it is not enough to attribute for the price of a $200 dinner of instant sides and over salted meat.

You know how hard it is with a toddler and baby. But we also know the importance of bringing them. We were super excited to have an unbelievable steak dining experience. We were in Carmel for two nights and we researched this place to eat at. Upon arriving with our party of 6 everything was smooth. We put our order in and then what felt like over 90 minutes we were asked if we wanted our daughter's burger to come out first. Which we did. After some time there. The A5 Wagyu came out. The stone plate was pretty cool. As a matter of fact, our 3 year old had her first tasting experience with the A5. She absolutely loved it. And so did we! The actual timeline was sit down reservation at 6:15 and first A5 Wagyu to come out was 40 minutes later. Then a total of 90 minutes before our entrees came out. That was the time stamp on our food pics. Finally our order came out which was a porterhouse we ordered to split for two. It had the spinalus, and all the yummy with it! It was incredible. My friend ordered just the spinalus and said it was the best steak he's ever had. The food was definitely A+. What happened next brought the experience down to a 3 star. We paid for our deposit through the chase reserve portal using Tock prior to arriving for dinner. We opted to utilize our points since we saved way more by doing that. We paid a $300 deposit worth points. So in essence we should've received a bill with a minus $300 on it. When we received the bill, it did not have the $300 off from it. So I asked about it and they said they would take care of it. After a very long time, they came back and said they're trying to take care of it. After more time, one of the servers said to me, if I can pay the full price on the receipt and I will receive a refund in a couple of days. So we did. We didn't want to wait any longer. A couple of days later I sent an email and the owner responded with an email from that night that he was taking care of the situation. Apparently, Tock reservations that do not opt to accept points and cash deposits will have a hard time. And since Saltcraft accepts Tock reservations with only cash deposits, I was SOL. A couple days later I was refunded the points back to my account. The food was off the charts! We had a great time devouring the yummy in all those steaks! The servers and people taking care of us were super nice and seemed to care about our experience. Overall, we felt they could've addressed at the end with the time of order till the food came out with apologies. But there was no apologies. They just brought out the food. Then the amount of time not understanding what was going on with the bill. That could've been addressed. After writing an email to the owner, he apologized that their service wasn't timely. "I'm sorry that our leisurely service style for the meal and the lead time for our steak process wasn't a good fit for your family." That was his quote. We wish them good luck and no ill. Things happen and hopefully we all get better from it.

They're seared with duck fat which gives it a great buttery taste, allowing you to taste the fatty flavor on cuts of meat that aren't the most fatty. The fries that go with each steak dish are also really good and go with the steaks. We had the cowgirl ribeye and spinellis steak. They were both good, I personally preferred the cowgirl ribeye since it had more fat. For the other portions of the meal, I really liked the sourdough bread they gave us. It tastes freshly made. The mushroom side that we ordered my husband really liked, but it wasn't my taste since it was a bit oily. The toffee bread pudding we didn't really like-it was too sweet, very small, and not very well presented. The cocktails we had were stellar. We had the paper plane, Rio de Janeiro, and Thai boxer. My favorite was the Rio de Janeiro; I was watching it being made and they squeeze fresh oranges into the drink. It was a good combination of orange juice and cream. The Thai boxer was good, although I did think it was a bit watery. The service was great and we had a lot of good recommendations from the staff. The restaurant had good ambiance and visually pleasing interior design. It's located in a shopping plaza with easily accessible parking as well. Note-if you come for your birthday or special occasion, they don't do anything extra like a dessert.

And from the moment we stepped foot into the building, we were transported to a new place. We let them know we were here for our reservation, we were seated promptly. There were multiple managers on the floor, the one that sat us, told my husband happy birthday. That was already such a nice start to the evening. Our busser was Enrique, he was so friendly, kind and quick with making sure we had water and cheesy bread. The sommelier came by, didn't catch his name but he was also so friendly and helpful. We ordered a bottle of a red wine local to the area. Our server was named Christian, he was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about the menu and lots of great recommendations! We both ordered a cup of soup, one cup of clam chowder and one cup of abalone bisque (one of the best soups I've ever had). As well as the oysters which were great. For our entrees, my husband ordered the chilean sea bass. Which he loved! I ordered the NY steak, cooked medium rare. Absolutely perfectly cooked and delicious. We received a slice of carrot cake for my husband's birthday, timed perfectly at the end of our dinner with a candle in it for us to celebrate and quietly sing together. Just the two of us. This was, without a doubt, one of the best dinners we've ever enjoyed together. From the attentive service and inviting ambiance to the exceptional food, every aspect of the evening was flawless. We will 100% be back again. Thank you for this memory.

The food is delicious but the price is a bit steep for the experience we had. My husband and I made reservations for our anniversary dinner on a Friday night at The Sardine Factory when we were on a recent trip in early June to Monterey and the surrounding area. We were looking forward to it for several weeks and had seen videos online of the beautiful restaurant interior, so we made sure to dress for the occasion. Upon arriving we were somewhat disappointed to be seated right near the host stand and next to the front door, practically in the bar area. We had hoped to sit in a more quiet area or in the atrium (especially considering we arrived several minutes before our reservation time and were not a walk-in couple), but we were still happy to enjoy the night. Being near the bar we were in immediate earshot of the piano player, who was singing soft and mellow songs that added to the ambiance when we first arrived. It was a nice start to accompany our drinks and appetizers. Unfortunately that didn't last long as the music swiftly became louder, karaoke-style songs that the bar patrons were happy to (loudly) sing along to. The noise became so overwhelming and didn't let up for the rest of the night. We couldn't hear each other speak or even hear our server. That type of setting is not at all what we envisioned for this caliber of a restaurant, or we would have booked our anniversary dinner elsewhere. Needless to say we wrapped up our meal more quickly than we would have liked and did not want to stay and enjoy dessert as we had planned. It took quite a while to receive our entrees and even longer for the check to finally arrive, but we were quick to leave and don't plan a return trip in the future. We were quite disappointed as we had such high hopes for a nice evening out.
