It saddens me to write such a negative review about this place, but I feel it's necessary. I went in on a weekend for dinner with a friend, excited for our usual order of drinks, salad, pizza, and pasta. While the food itself was decent, the service left much to be desired. From the moment we sat down, it felt as though our waitress was indifferent to our needs. She seemed more focused on other tables, as we noticed multiple groups receiving the complimentary bread while we sat there waiting. By the time we finished our meals, I had to ask her for our bread, and even then, she didn't offer an apology--just brought it out as if it was a chore. To add to the frustrating experience, when we requested to-go boxes, we had to wait an unusually long time. Eventually, I decided to take matters into my own hands and asked someone from the kitchen for boxes instead. It shouldn't have to come to that. I really wanted to enjoy my evening, but the horrible service overshadowed the good food. Unfortunately, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this place to others looking for a pleasant dining experience.

We were near the Old Fisherman's Wharf, and we were in the mood for some seafood and libations. We were in between a couple options that looked relatively similar and that had solid reviews, but we opted for Cafe Fina The exterior really pulls you in with a flashy boardwalk/ Italian Sea Food vibe. The interior felt somewhat high end as each table had white table cloths, and most tables had a lovely view of the bay The menu offered a variety of appetizers, entrees, desserts, drinks, etc., but their focus is more seafood and Italian. We ordered a pizza to share, and it was tasty. A couple of us got sea food entrees, and two of us went for the clam chowder. Everything tasted great Sour server was fantastic. Our drinks were always filled, our food came out in a timely manner, and we just felt well taken care of Some tips: Parking can get a little tricky, but you can probably find street parking outside of the wharf area. You just might have to do a bit of walking. There's also parking garages and lots in the nearby areas There are two clam chowder bread bowls. One is more traditional, and the other is toasted with cheese on the top. Both are tasty, and both are massive. These would be best shared. The chowder itself is very rich and flavorful. Almost like an Alfredo sauce Cheers!!

Stopped by here a few years ago and we loved the experience, its cozy spot with a heated patio, their customer service was good, and their food was good as well. We had their seafood paella, oysters, fried calamari, and fish and chips, all were good. They did have a wait but we had fun, though its been years so can't wait to go back

OMG their lobster tail dish is incredible! My dad and I went to this restaurant twice during our trip even if it meant driving extra because of their lobster tail dish. The cook is great and the seasoning is just right. The butter with herbs is sooo good too with the warm bread. We sat outside for the first time and sat inside the second time and I think the inside is better. If you can get a seat by the water, even better because the view is so nice. The service is also attentive and professional. Highly recommend this place!

I usually don't get fish and chips but I loved the quality here. I haven't been to Monterey since I was a kid, but the service here was really good. I really enjoyed talking to our server and she was helpful in recommending stuff!

Great place for dinner! Great service. Dog friendly outdoor seating. Clam chowder was flavorful and the sourdough bread was nice and soft. The cioppino was delicious! The sauce they used was just the right amount of garlicky. Would definitely come here again!

This place is pricey, as you'd expect at a tourist spot. We ordered the classic Cioppino and clam chowder in a bowl. Cioppino: - Soup: 5/5. Loved the flavor. Works great with the complementary bread. - Prawn and calamari: 5/5. Awesome. - Mussel: 4/5. Fresh and big, but fishy. - Clam: 2/5. So fresh (?) that it has sea water in it? It's really salty for some reason. Clam chowder: 5/5. No complaints on the texture and flavor. Very creamy. But overpriced.

A friend recommended that if we were in Monterey, we needed to stop by Café Fina and try their clam chowder. It was two in the afternoon, when we finally made it in to Monterey. We were a little hungry. We found our way to fisherman's wharf, And were seated very quickly at Café Fina. The staff is excellent. They do not rush you. They make sure that you have everything you need. Our table was great. It had a view of the water and we got to watch sea lions and seagulls. We split an order of fish and chips and had a cup of clam chowder. The clam chowder was rich and creamy. They use Alaskan cod for their fish and chips. It was cooked nicely and the batter was not too thick. I can definitely recommend this place.

Nice place on the wharf with a great view to watch the sea life. We were a party of 10. Each ordering a variety of dishes. My husband and I had Caesar salad with fish and chips, other guests had cioppino, lobster tails, Caesar with chicken as a main course and the fresh beets and goat cheese salad. All quite good. The service was impeccable. One waitress handled our entire table with our drinks and food.

I took my family here last week. Everything was delicious. My sister and i had the minestrone soup, which was very good. My son had the clam chowder, and it too was very good. Everyone else really enjoyed their meal. We ate upstairs and had a beutiful view of the ocean from our table. I highly recommend this place

My wife had Petrale sole, I opted for the Swordfish. Both were excellent. Add on a Caesar salad and it was a wonderful dinner. Can't say enough about the service as well. Been coming here for many years and never disappoints

I was at the Turkish Festival and wanted a bite to eat so I walked up and down the wharf. I had been to Cafe Fina a couple years ago and remembered it as a great experience. I was lucky to snag an outdoor seat. I decided on the sand dabs and what a refreshing choice! Tender and accompanied by orzo and vegetables that complemented the sand dabs so well. Different. I deliberately saved room for dessert. I came here a couple years ago and distinctly remember the amazing peach cobbler and stellar service. The server recommended the clams and linguine. I'm intrigued by the cioppino, which has pasta in it, which is untraditional. Pasta is housemade. They grow their own produce and herbs, including peaches for their cobbler. I will come back and bring someone soon.

Meats are from Snake River Farms which is good to know. The fresh Pacific oysters from Fanny Bay, Canada were outstanding. So fresh and not fishy at all and plus the jalapeño onion mignonette was sweet and so good that I saved it for my steak lol I loved the cap of my prime rib but the middle was a bit chewy like it is with most prime rib. i was really glad that the steak dinners come with the mashed potatoes and stir fry spinach (also glad it wasn't creamed spinach for a change). He enjoyed his ribeye as well. The salts are really interesting and we were told to use it sparingly since the steaks were already seasoned intentionally. He ordered a glass of Emblem and I had Bee's Knees which was pretty syrupy sweet in the way that honey is with a hint of bitterness. We shared a mini key lime pie which was pretty good and exactly what you would expect. The free birthday cannoli is so fun and was presented with a sparkler but unfortunately my least favorite because of the odd tasting candied fruits in the cream. We had an amazing time here and really enjoyed our dining here.

Starting with the Whaling Station Cheeseburger, it was cooked perfectly and the beef was juicy. However, it just needed a little more pizzazz. The bun could have been toasted for added texture, and the burger itself was lacking seasoning and a flavorful sauce to tie everything together. It felt like a well-cooked, classic burger but didn't quite stand out. The Beef Wellington was also well executed. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the puff pastry was beautifully flaky and held together nicely. My biggest critique was the saltiness. I understand the prosciutto naturally adds salt, but it seemed like the steak may have been seasoned as well, making the overall dish a bit too salty for my taste. I also wasn't a fan of the sauce served underneath, as it didn't complement the Wellington the way I expected. The spinach side was another miss, it tasted like previously frozen spinach that had been wilted down with bacon and wasn't very enjoyable. The real star of the night was the Twice Baked Loaded Potato. It was packed with flavor, perfectly creamy, and loaded just right. My only minor suggestion would be a crispier potato skin for a little extra texture, but even then, it was easily the highlight of the meal. I'd order it again in a heartbeat. Service was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The ambiance felt upscale and perfect for a nice dinner out, although the seating arrangement felt a little awkward. Overall, I had a good experience and would definitely come back to explore more of the menu, especially with another order of that amazing twice baked loaded potato.

The Meyer lemon sauce went well with the salmon. 12oz Pork chop: The meat was soft and easy to bite into. The cauliflower puree was delicious! Snake River American Wagyu: I thought the steak was okay. It was a bit too rare for me personally but my husband liked it! Brussels sprouts: Yummmm! Love the crispy Brussels sprouts. You know how hard it is with a toddler and baby. But we also know the importance of bringing them. We were super excited to have an unbelievable steak dining experience. We were in Carmel for two nights and we researched this place to eat at. Upon arriving with our party of 6 everything was smooth. We put our order in and then what felt like over 90 minutes we were asked if we wanted our daughter's burger to come out first. Which we did. After some time there. The A5 Wagyu came out. The stone plate was pretty cool. As a matter of fact, our 3 year old had her first tasting experience with the A5. She absolutely loved it. And so did we! The actual timeline was sit down reservation at 6:15 and first A5 Wagyu to come out was 40 minutes later. Then a total of 90 minutes before our entrees came out. That was the time stamp on our food pics. Finally our order came out which was a porterhouse we ordered to split for two. It had the spinalus, and all the yummy with it! It was incredible. My friend ordered just the spinalus and said it was the best steak he's ever had. The food was definitely A+. What happened next brought the experience down to a 3 star. We paid for our deposit through the chase reserve portal using Tock prior to arriving for dinner. We opted to utilize our points since we saved way more by doing that. We paid a $300 deposit worth points. So in essence we should've received a bill with a minus $300 on it. When we received the bill, it did not have the $300 off from it. So I asked about it and they said they would take care of it. After a very long time, they came back and said they're trying to take care of it. After more time, one of the servers said to me, if I can pay the full price on the receipt and I will receive a refund in a couple of days. So we did. We didn't want to wait any longer. A couple of days later I sent an email and the owner responded with an email from that night that he was taking care of the situation. Apparently, Tock reservations that do not opt to accept points and cash deposits will have a hard time. And since Saltcraft accepts Tock reservations with only cash deposits, I was SOL. A couple days later I was refunded the points back to my account. The food was off the charts! We had a great time devouring the yummy in all those steaks! The servers and people taking care of us were super nice and seemed to care about our experience. Overall, we felt they could've addressed at the end with the time of order till the food came out with apologies. But there was no apologies. They just brought out the food. Then the amount of time not understanding what was going on with the bill. That could've been addressed. After writing an email to the owner, he apologized that their service wasn't timely. "I'm sorry that our leisurely service style for the meal and the lead time for our steak process wasn't a good fit for your family." That was his quote. We wish them good luck and no ill. Things happen and hopefully we all get better from it.

The fries that go with each steak dish are also really good and go with the steaks. We had the cowgirl ribeye and spinellis steak. They were both good, I personally preferred the cowgirl ribeye since it had more fat. For the other portions of the meal, I really liked the sourdough bread they gave us. It tastes freshly made. The mushroom side that we ordered my husband really liked, but it wasn't my taste since it was a bit oily. The toffee bread pudding we didn't really like-it was too sweet, very small, and not very well presented. The cocktails we had were stellar. We had the paper plane, Rio de Janeiro, and Thai boxer. My favorite was the Rio de Janeiro; I was watching it being made and they squeeze fresh oranges into the drink. It was a good combination of orange juice and cream. The Thai boxer was good, although I did think it was a bit watery. The service was great and we had a lot of good recommendations from the staff. The restaurant had good ambiance and visually pleasing interior design. It's located in a shopping plaza with easily accessible parking as well. Note-if you come for your birthday or special occasion, they don't do anything extra like a dessert.

If you're an Amex Platinum cardholder looking to burn Resy credits in Monterey, this Mexican restaurant is worth a try -- but manage your expectations. We had a reservation and were seated right away, which was a plus. Started with chips and guac and a couple of drinks, then ordered the chicken enchiladas and the skirt steak and arugula salad, adding shrimp to the salad. Adding shrimp to a salad cost about $15, and our total with tip came out to around $140 for two people. For that price point in Monterey, I expected more from the food and overall experience. Would I come back? Probably not at full price. But if you have the Amex Platinum and quarterly Resy dining credits to use, it softens the blow enough to make it worth trying once.
