AMAZING CARE - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I began visiting Thriving Chiropractic about 4 months into an awful battle with frozen shoulder. At that point, I'd already been doing physical therapy for several months, as well as having a steroid injection. I wanted to "throw the kitchen sink" at the shoulder to help recover as quickly as I could. Thriving Chiropractic offered me both chiropractic care with Dr. Helen and acupuncture with Dr. Christina. I took one appointment each week with both, in addition to my physical therapy visits twice a week. Dr. Helen and Dr. Christina were both excellent in helping speed my recovery! After "just 7 months" (which is exceptionally fast in the land of frozen shoulders where 1 year to 2 years is more typical) I've recovered 95-100% of my shoulder range of motion and I'm on track as I work towards patiently recovering my strength. I want to give extra praise to Dr. Helen for doing an incredible job understanding and assessing my condition each week, providing a range of care modalities to help my healing, and providing me "homework" to complement what I was doing with my PT. In addition, she's just a super friendly person who takes an interest in your life outside of your injury and I found her incredibly pleasant to talk to during treatment. Dr. Helen truly has an exceptional, holistic approach to care - she completely defies the stereotype of chiropractors simply "cracking joints." Every time you leave her care, you leave feeling great. Dr. Christina was also very professional and caring. I'd never had acupuncture treatment before and she was very gentle and careful to ask about my comfort during and after the treatment. Due to the nature of acupuncture (you spend a long time sitting with the needles in quiet solitude), my interactions with her were less so than with Dr. Helen. The office is small and the front desk staff is really nice and very accommodating. Once I spaced out and missed my appointment by 30min they still allowed me to come in and get treated. I received treatment from Dr. Yumi. She used the chiropractor adjustment tool to adjust my back. I didn't like this tool at all. There was no manual adjustments (spine cracking) which is primarily the reason I sought a chiropractor for. I did like the moving bed and how it stretches your spine. I didn't notice any significant difference because the methods were pain free and good for people who have injuries. After a few treatments I did not return because it wasn't the right fit for me. I want manual spine adjustments (spine cracking) that relieves tension immediately; although I do admit it's harsher on body recovery so I understand why this office employs alternative treatments. read more

I was referred to Dr. Helen Wang after a rear end event. Dr Wang was super nice and treats my back and neck. I am pregnant and now takes chiropraktik every 1 or 2 weeks. I have had great success with Dr. Yumi Okuwaki with deep adhesions that others had difficulty getting rid of.  In general, I've suffered from chronic pain where more traditional methods (like physical therapy) wasn't successful.  I never went to a chiropractor because I didn't want any of that 'back cracking' I had heard about.  Yumi doesn't do that type of work on me.  And in fact, her method to remove deep adhesions is SUPER GENTLE!  I almost still can't believe that "gentle" can be effective!  I think it's because everyone else tries to reach the deep tissues by pressing harder or longer in that same area.  But instead, Yumi has learned a technique from Japan that works from the inside out.  Because of that, It feels like it's intended to work on the deep adhesions!  I highly recommend Yumi.  She is so thoughtful and caring and truly wants to help you get out of pain!  You can tell she is very passionate about her work.  And her technique really works!  She was able to get the last of my knee pain out, something I had been suffering with for over 10 years.  There's more areas for her to work on, and I'm excited to see the results! read more

I was seeing Dr.Yumi about tightness in my neck/back muscles. She helped me a lot over 6 months allowing me to manage it at home without needing more visits a year later. She's very knowledgeable and does a comprehensive assessment to start off. Over the visits she slowly helped worked through the pain and tightness I was experiencing. She helped me identify a set of exercises which has been helpful on a daily basis. The practice is also great at accommodating emergencies and scheduling. read more

I had a neck/shoulder/back spasm/pain which was going on and off with horrible days for a little more than a month. I was able to find an appointment with Thriving Chiropractor within 2-3 days of my call . At this point, I've made like 4 visits to Dr. Deanna for my issue and I must say she is very thorough and thoughtful in explaining what's going on with you and what to expect. She's helped me feel a lot better in 4 visits. She informed me well about an adjustment before asking permission for it. Dr Deanna has been very kind with me and she uses at least 3-4 different methods every session. Her sessions are about 25-30 minutes and she has never made me feel rushed. Her homework for me wasn't stressful as well and it did help me heal faster. I have been a patient of Dr. Helen Wang for over 10 years. She is an excellent well-rounded Chiropractor. I am a competitive powerlifter, so I have multiple issues to address. Helen is different than most chiropractors as she will work on multiple problems in 1 visit. Dr. Helen makes time in the beginning of each visit to listen closely regarding my current issue. She remembers causes my injury history in detail. This helps in the treatment and the exercises she gives for recovery. When she deems the injury/pain is serious, she will set up an MRI or Xray to assist in treatment. Dr. Helen uses many techniques during my visits, including cupping which is a difference maker with my rotator cuff injury. I have referred several friends to see Dr. Helen and they are thankful. I would like to commend Dr. Yumi. Although Yelp typically rates services based on "Stars", I would like to grant Dr. Yumi 3 "E's" for Experience, Efficiency and EFFECTIVENESS. After a day of skiing (which I probably shouldn't have done because I already had sciatica pains), I severely aggravated the issue and it felt like I had a severe charley horse on my left thigh. For over a week, I was barely able to bend down and walk. My muscles and nerves were inflamed and I was experiencing continuous tingling, numbness and sharp pains.(Aleve and Theragun massages provided minimal relief.) . Based on a friend's suggestion, I sought an alternative approach and found Thriving Chiropractic on Yelp. I managed to obtain an open slot right away with Dr. Yumi. Thank goodness. Within a 30 minute visit, she promptly had me do a few range motion tests and diagnosed the source of my problem to extreme muscle tightness in multiple areas in my buttocks and leg - myofascial tightness issues. Through a multitude of techniques, including spine manipulation, re-alignment, deep and soft tissue massages, and stretching, she methodically worked through the multiple trigger areas. The results were almost immediate as you feel the tightness "melt away" as she honed in and released the taught tissue spots. Over three additional sessions in a two week span, she improved my range of motion and pain by 98+%. I'm quite optimistic that with perhaps an additional chiro session and regimented, at-home stretching sessions, we will fully resolve the issue. (Expect to feel discomfort, mild pain and nerve tingling for up to 12-24 hours after the chiro sessions, as the muscles and nerves slowly re-adapt to their new, "correct" positions. After that adjustment period, you'll feel significantly better.) Overall, I am very impressed with Dr. Yumi. She is very pleasant, attentive and listens well to your descriptions of discomfort. She immediately applies the appropriate techniques to address them. I attribute that to her excellent knowledge and experience of the human anatomy. She simply understands "cause and effect" and promptly applies her arsenal of Eastern and Western techniques into your limited, appointment time. She meticulously checks the back, buttocks, thighs and legs to check for any signs of muscle tightness. I would also like to extend kudos to Lucy and the front staff. I saw Dr. Yumi Okuwaki and she changed my life. I had no idea I was living with so much unnecessary pain till I saw her and finally had relief. My neck was very very tight so I decided to come in. I could not turn my hear right left or down when I first came in. When I left I was moving freely and had no discomfort. After about a year, here's my long overdue review! I love everything about this place: their proximity and accessibility to me, the clean and well-maintained facility, very professional staff, amazing service, the list just goes on! Out of the many chiropractors I've had, Dr Helen Wang is the most competent of all. She is very knowledgable and takes her time to really cater to your specific healing needs. I started there and loved it until I left the last visit. The dr. worked on my lower back and that night ended up in the ER because I could barely walk. I then called the drs. and they said oh I am sorry try over the counter medicine. They never offered another visit free to as they were the cause of the pain. The in complete pain the entire weekend had to call out sick to work followed up with my dr. who had to prescribe me nerve medication. I know things can happen but the fact that they never offered to pay my ER bill nor another appt to help with the damage they caused is why I will NEVER ever return there and will continue to NEVER recommend them. read more

The message was good but the front desk man that was charging us was so rude. We use Stanford health plan (Aetna) and he said although they accept Aetna, the insurance pays them too little. He charges us much more than what our copay is listed on the insurance website. He charges us after we did the message and never inform us beforehand. He also sounds like we deserve no respect. I have been seeing Dr. Linda Wang for teeth-grinding at night and sore muscles. I use to work 100 hrs week with prolonged sitting and stress. I was in constant pain when I first see Dr Wang. The grinding problem got much better even after my first session. I no longer have headache and sore jaws in the morning. The sore muscles issue improves over time - I am no longer in pain but I come back every week for muscle relaxation. I've been coming here for years. I used to have horrible, severe sciatica. all the doctors I saw basically said I was getting old, there's nothing that can be done and I just have to get used to it. So I decided to try acupuncture and found this clinic (formerly on Castro Street in downtown Mountain View) with good reviews. Dr. Lin (Linda) Wang worked with me, using a combination of acupuncture, massage and chiropractic treatment from Dr. Helen Wang and within six months, the sciatica was gone. I still go every once in a while for a tune up, or if I have a specific problem (I pull my back out occasionally) and it's always solved. Dr. Li is fantastic, always seems to be able to pinpoint the problem area, even when it's caused by something farther away from the pain spot. she's a wonderful practitioner, very soothing and calm style, and very professional. The whole staff is great, Ethan is very easy to work with and handles all the insurance stuff really well. I came here to get relief from my shoulder pains. I came to see Dr. Yumi because she was the only doctor in network with my insurance. I came in, the receptionist was really nice but doesn't escort you to the room. She points and says, "Go to room 2." When I finally saw Dr. Yumi, she kept talking and talking and talking. And talking. And I was in there for more than 1.5 hours. She does this technique called Koren Specific Technique where she takes this device called AthroStim that beats 12x per second and places it in various places of my body (temples, shoulders). This is cool and all, and maybe it works in the long run, I'm really not sure. But, I just wanted shoulder pain relief and I didn't get that. I spent over 1.5 hrs in the office because she just kept talking, which is completely unnecessary. I'm really disappointed because I just wasted my time, and my money. Maybe if you're into Koren Specific Technique, then she might be great for you, but definitely not for me. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Lin Ying "Linda" Wang. She beats everyone else in the area on price and effectiveness for her treatment. A decade ago, I'd shopped around in the Redwood City to Mountain View area to find a specialist for back pain, and after many bad experiences, I was lucky to find this place. I've since moved out of the area, and tried a few places in the east bay when I threw out my back last year. Though some had a more sleek environment, none made me feel better faster than Dr. Wang, even with thousands of dollars of fancy equipment. If you're in pain, make an appointment now! My experiences have not been without issues: there were early miscommunications about insurance coverage, which took a few weeks to sort out and understand. I was satisfied that the staff took the initiative with the insurance company, and all that I had to do was wait. One time, I was mildly inconvenienced and had to wait as she worked through lunch to help a patient with an emergency, but the circumstance was clearly communicated, and I can appreciate that she is willing to go above and beyond for her loyal customers with injuries. When I first came here, they told me each chiropractor visit would cost 70$$ if I pay in cash and 130~140$$ if i pay with insurance. I thought it was ok, everyone wants to make a little extra money right? BUT after my 6th visit, my insurance company got a $1500 bill!! that's 250$$ per visit?!! Also the front desk guy(Ethan?) is very rude and unprofessional(i think he is co-owner of this shitty place), when I called to ask why my bill is so high, he kept on answering "I DO NOT KNOW YOU NEED TO DEAL THIS WITH THE CHIROPRACTOR!!" Excuse me???? You are the one who told me the price!! Anyway..already got a lawyer to deal with the problem. On the other hand, the massage lady is very nice and honest, when I told her that I found this place on Yelp, she giggled then told me that the owners sometimes give discounts to customers who rates 5 stars.
