It was a long drive on curvy country roads to get there and it was rainy and extremely foggy, but it made it part of the "spooky" fun! We got here and we were greeted with friendly people and even a sucker for our son. It was only $20 for the 3 of us to get in which is very reasonable and a cheap night compared to any local events and activities we usually go to. The trail was pretty long and we were told to go through as many times as we wished. There were tons of little houses to walk through, a maze, a suspension bridge, a concrete tunnel, a crooked house, and many slides. We thoroughly enjoyed the trail, rain and all! It was well lit with Halloween lights all throughout, so it was pretty neat to walk the trails and see hidden spooky figures in the dark. The castle is so cool! It's a mini haunted house with strobe lights, animatronics, curtains to walk through, etc. Our 6 year old was scared by it a bit and got really brave to go in a second time (which made us SO relieved we didn't go to a legitimate haunted house) so it was perfect and not too scary. They've got hot cocoa, hot cider, cold cider, and donuts for sale (very cheap) too so we took advantage of that while we walked the trail. And the food options weren't terrible! I brought some of my own snacks and that didn't seem to be an issue. It's always nice to be able to plan for things in case the kids are picky about what might be available. Some of the pros: good options for rides for little kids, and the majority of the rides and experiences aren't really scary. Cons: entrance ticket fees are quite high, and the older part of the property is on a major slope. Be prepared to traverse hills and take your time. Our favorite part of the visit was the long slide that starts with entering a covered tunnel over the main walkway. I think my child did it about 20 times! I also thought the bumper boats were really cool and the gift shops had some pretty nice options. It was fun to experience this place, but I don't know that I'd ever become a regular. I think the perfect window for kids would be ages 4-7. Probably best not to use a stroller given the slope of the property and any kid over age 7 might not be as well entertained by the whimsical nature of the experience. Overall, worth a visit! But I can't honestly tell you that. The truth is, I chose to stand there on principle. I had absolutely no intention of swimming, using the slides, or taking advantage of any of the attractions. I simply wanted to spend the day with my grandsons, watching them laugh and making memories together. Instead, I was expected to pay approximately $40 simply to walk through the gate and be with my family. I understand that every business has the right to set its own admission policies, and I respect that. But I also have the right to decide when a policy simply doesn't make sense. So, for four hours, I stood just inside the front entrance near the front door while my grandsons enjoyed the park--not because I had to, but because I couldn't justify paying full admission for services I never intended to use. My hope is that Wings & Waves will reconsider this policy. A reasonably priced spectator pass for grandparents, parents, caregivers, or anyone who simply wants to accompany their family without participating would make the park far more welcoming to families. I truly hope no other grandparent has to make the same choice I did.
