Pacifica Archery is an indoor archery range in the downtown area. I went there today for an archery demonstration and practice session. My instructor was great. He was very hands-on, ensuring I had the right posture the right bow grip, the right release, everything! I went from shooting arrows onto other people's targets to having excellent groupings of my own. I even had a bullseye. My only regret is that the actual range is small. I will gladly return during the week when it's not as crowded. read more

Having this past week rekindled my love of archery I googled SF archery this morning. My old bow is a little heavy for me now and I'd wanted to check out options but hadn't had luck with the shop near my house being open. I walked in today and right away someone offered to help me. The business is open and clean and well organized. They helped fit me with a recurve bow which took a bit of tweaking to get the right length/weight combo, but they were happy to help! I got a great bow and learned some new pointers! If I could I might subtract half a star for the selection, they could have had more recurves... but I did find one for me. All in all the experience was fantastic, so 5 stars! I will definitely come back for supplies and to utilize their indoor lanes. had tons of fun here. my buddy and i showed up one day, with no previous archery experience or any sort of knowledge about it. total cost is $20 per hour, though it's prorated to 15 minute increments. this includes the bow, arrows, arm and hand equipment, as well as quick instruction on how to hold the bow, aim and shoot properly. we went mid week during the day, and had the entire range (and instructors) to ourselves. everyone was friendly and helpful, and the next time i feel the need to shoot an arrow, i will definitely come here again. there is also a section that sells bows, arrows and other bow-hunting gear... including arrow tips specially designed for "maximum blood trail". read more

They are way close to home, so I'm happy =) I wouldn't know about purchase prices there because I haven't paid any attention. When I went, I was renting bow and arrow for about an hour of shooting in their indoor range for about $20. Now that I have my own equipment, I'm not sure what the price will be? Can't imagine it would be all that much. The staff was very friendly and courteous, and one dude actually went and shot with us for a little bit. They have targets set at two distances only, but practice is still practice, and I'm a beginner, so that works for me. I don't like their hours though.....can they be open 24/7?? Excellent lesson and coaching. We came and the place wasn't packed at all. It eventually got packed but we loved our lesson and love archery. The people that were running this place were very friendly and helpful and offered coaching even after the lesson was over. The other visitors were also quite pleasant. As an office outing: Delightful. Plenty of help from the staff, good overview, and a good full hour of fun. As a gear shop for enthusiasts: I'm not sure. There were a bunch of things around, but many (just-add-venison stew mixes?) didn't look to be big sellers. This place is awesome! I came here with a friend over the weekend. Both of us were complete noobs! We didn't know how to put on both the arm and finger guard (put on both backwards to begin with...LOL ). They corrected us and showed us how to properly string the bow and where to aim. 40ft? 50ft? (totally guessing). The targets are like foam walls that can be moved around depending on how far you want it. This is a great place for beginners! They charged us 10 dollars and we stayed for about 30-35 mins. The staff there are SUPER nice and helpful. Once in a while they will come by to help correct our footing and give us helpful tips. Will definitely come again! Great for small group gatherings. This place isnt that big. I say they have about 12 lanes. So plan accordingly and have fun! read more

I had a Groupon for this place, which came with two 30 Minute Lessons, two 30 Min Range Time, and Bow Rentals for 2. I got this all for $35 not a bad deal. The lesson was OK though, not the best lesson. The instructor was running late. He also didn't even introduce himself, I seriously dont know his name at all! He just jumped right into the archery lesson. Lesson was a brief overview on how to shoot and how to use the proper mechanics. I had fun though. I felt like I improved my form. The class was small, only 4 of us in total. After the instructor showed us everything, he watched us shoot for 5 minutes, then after that he just left and let us shoot on our own They were also nice about the time, they let us shoot for an extra 10 minutes or so since we started a tad late. Not bad. Parking was easy to get, and I live super close by! Theirs not that many other places that offer archery. Will definitely come here again since I live close by. read more

The two people we worked with were very nice, though initially not super attentive. It was ten minutes past opening time on Saturday morning, and the range was already full, so that counts for some of the delay/distraction. Once they were actually helping us, though, they were great. I bought my first bow (Ragim Wildcat) and all the accoutrements, and that meant I got free lessons and range time. Great! My two friends rented their bows and paid for a half-hour lesson and an hour on the range: total was $80, which seems steep, particularly because it was one lesson for three of us, with no one-on-one time for anyone but the eight-year-old. $20 for a half hour group lesson seems fair; $40 (or $60, if I hadn't bought a bow) seems less so. Happy to be getting started, though, and appreciate that they had everything I needed to do so! read more

I've been getting my archery supplies here and it's an ok place. The staff is really friendly and nice...but sometimes the cost to buy certain archer equipment is a little expensive but other than that. They have an indoor archery range that's 20 meters from the target. Thh owners had moved from Pacifica to Daly City since they needed a bigger place... their Techno Hunt is pretty cool...don't know if it still works. read more

Our first experience was taking our daughter and her friends for a private lesson for her 11th birthday. My kids enjoyed it immensely, so I started taking them back pretty much 8-10 more weeks. Even bought my kids bows from them. Instructors are fine and pay attention to the kids, but the owners have no concept of customer service. After many weeks of attending and buying equipment from them, I confused my daughter's schedule and she got double scheduled for a swim meet and archery (which she missed). Basically, the owners said we were out of luck and lost the fee we had paid, even though there were empty lanes. No concept of customer appreciation. Owner was actually lamenting about how they lose money on the kids archery program on Saturdays because they can't charge enough! It is okay for a try out, but otherwise, go somewhere else with better customer service. We won't be returning. As for parking, not so good these days. Planet Fitness basically fills the spots Saturday mornings. You have to battle for a place ot park. read more

hidden gem in daly city for sure. we bought the groupon, flexed our fingers, and headed over. when we got there, no biggie. the guy behind the counter was chillin and eating chicken katsu like it was nobody's business, but hey i'm all for food so no complaints there. he handed us safety forms with one hand while still eating katsu with the other, which was quite impressive. got our forms filled out, acquired some gloves, arrows, and a bow, and headed over to the shooting area. our teacher was pretty much a boss. the type of guy that comes across as a respect mr. miyagi-type veteran archer. i forgot his name (i'm writing this review 2 months late), but he was very thorough and got straight down to business. he also watches you like a hawk when you finally get to shooting the targets. which is kind of scary, but ends up being super helpful with technique and suggestions. after giving us some additional coaching, he left us alone to shoot our targets in peace. thank God he didn't see me hit every target that WASN'T mine... and yes i know i missed mine a good amount of times, since each individual has a specific color of arrows -_-. i have to say that the workers there do know their archery abcs and 123s. i think they just kind of assume that you know what you want, and if you need help you'll ask. overall we had a pretty fun time. i think if i didn't have such terrible aim i'd actually try and take up archery as a hobby... read more

I can't compare it to any other archery ranges, but this place is a fun time if you're a beginner. Came here with a groupon and got 2 lessons for the price of 1 (a beginner's lesson is $35 -- includes rental equipment, 1/2 hour of instruction, and 1/2 hour to practice on your own). Our instructor was an old guy who seemed a bit grumpy at first (FYI: when you read the list of rules, pay special attention to the policy of calling "Clear!" and staying behind the blue line), but he seemed to warm up to us as the lesson progressed. The other employees were very friendly and gave us vouchers for a free bow rental for next time. Oh, and it's right by the Colma BART station so it's convenient to get to if you don't have a car. As with my comments on Jackson Arms shooting range, archery is fun to try once or twice, but I won't be a regular because I don't need another expensive hobby. read more

I've always been interested in archery so I grabbed the GroupOn and brought my friend here for lessons on her birthday. The staff was accomodating, but not very friendly. My friend, who's very talkative and inquisitive, asked more and more questions and our instructor seemed a little uncomforatble with all of her talk. He seemed to just want to teach us archery and that's it. However, he questions were archery related, but he wasn't too into talking about anything but our lesson. For the GroupOn price, I didn't think it was too bad. The place was smaller than I imagined. The store front seemed organized enough for a small shop. However, there weren't many lanes. In fact, I thought it looked kind of haphazardly put together when I walked back there. It was empty when we went in on a Thursday early afternoon, so I didn't feel bad about being loud and obnoxious beginners. Later, when a few more guys came in, we were at least more comfortable with our shooting since our instructor was good at making sure we had our basics down. After our lesson, the staff was more open to us. The older Filipina behind the counter even let my friend hold a $1000 bow for a picture. My friend had the nerve to ask for a Filipino discout! Of course, the lady laughed it off... Still, I'm sure I'll be back. Since my friend lives in Pacifica and this place is BART accessible, it's easy for me to make my way over and make a day of archery and visiting my friend. Always wanted to get my Hunger Games on and gave archery a whirl using the one hour deal from groupon. The instructor was a cool kid, class was definitely on point, no pun intended :) Learned the basic essentials to shooting a recurve bow and arrow. After 30 minutes of instruction we were let loose and allowed to go to town target shooting from different distances. I hit the bulls eye a handful of times and overall it was a very fun experience. In a land of high tech gadgets, instant gratification and overly PC encounters, I was stoked to find Pacifica Archery. Instead of pushing the latest greatest bells and whistles compound bow, equipped to the hilt so you practically push a button, they really dig traditional archery. And not just for target shooting, for hunting. I decided to take up archery again after 25 years, and they set be up with a takedown recurve for a very modest price. I took a lesson as well, since recurve bows (particularly shooting off the shelf) takes a little more skill, but its basic and primal, and you can fix things in the field. I cant remember the guy's name who gave me a lesson, but he was knowledgeable and unpretentious. Worked on correcting old bad habits and really helped me feel comfortable with the bow. Im 2-3 weeks into it, shooting several times a week. I've had to go in for a string replacement (my fault) and they hooked me up, giving me a nice discount AND answering questions I had on how to make my own stuff. I love the close family atmosphere here, not intimidating at all. Whether a Nugent -like pro or a newbie in High School, they will treat you with respect courtesy and not try to oversell you something you don't need. They have a 20yd indoor range, for 12$/hr, which is clutch when Briones is rained out. read more

Went here with my team for an team building activity. The rules are pretty strict, the manager repeated himself about 3 or 4 times with the rules and it worked - we were there early, everyone ready to go and had the right clothing. Overall the instruction was clear and the timing and pacing were right. We got to shoot with recurve bows and the instructor definitely helped us get on the right track. We had a Groupon for a free lesson for 2, and my boyfriend has been dying to give archery a try. It was definitely an amazing experience, and we're already planning out trips to go back and practice. The lesson is super straight forward, and they let you get right into shooting, with the instructor watching your technique and giving you pointers. I took a class here for $35. It was really fun. The class comes with 30 min instruction, 30 min practice and free targets. It cost $8 to rent the equipment. The instructor was nice, but he wasn't too talkative. There doesn't seem to be too much to teach as soon as you get the form down. From then, it's all about practice. However, he gave good recommendations of where to go for target practice. The staff is knowledgeable. However, I didn't look into equipment because I'm not ready to actually make an investment. read more

I bought a groupon for this event and it was kinda hard to get an appt with them for the longest time. A month in advance after, I finally went with my husband and met with our instructor who was an archer himself. He was very good in teaching us the basics and the overall place was very small and felt compact yet the owners of the place were very nice Pinoy people. We learned so much from our lesson, and we are definitely coming back. The price is very reasonable as well. $35 for rental and an hour of shooting arrows. Very close to mission area in daly city, make sure you bring a light jacket for indoors because I was having a lot of bruises from letting of the arrow and the string was hitting my forearm. read more

Pacifica Archery is really fantastic. I purchased a deal they offered through Groupon and I was hooked. My instructor was awesome: relaxed, easy to understand, gave great feedback on how to improve. Within 30 minutes I was hitting the center at least 4 out of 6 arrows each set. I went back for the second part of my deal: 1 hour range time to hone my newly acquired mad skills... ;) (hardly). I was so stoked when I saw they posted another deal on zozi, so I emailed Beth (co-owner of Pacifica Archery) and asked her if I could participate in this deal since I had been there before already. She replied the very next day with a super kind, emphatic "YES. We'd love to see you again. You're welcome to purchase the deal." That was a nice feeling. :) I highly recommend Pacifica Archery, they're right off the freeway and there's plenty of parking. I love the indoor range and that they have a shop there if you do decide you want to buy your own gear. The only reason I took off one star is because it can get expensive if you're going for regular price. The gear rental is $8 plus $12 for the range=$20/hr. I'd like to shoot more but there is no punch card or monthly membership discount, which I'd totally buy. As a sport, it'd like to do it at least 3x a week but that can add up. I can't justify buying my own gear, yet dishing out $12/hr each time. There are other locations I can go shoot at, but I'd love to support this gem if I could. My boyfriend had a groupon deal for this place - 30mins lesson, 30mins range time (practice time), and equiptment rental. $35 deal, not bad. The lesson was pretty basic knowledge. I never done archery, so it was good experience. How to put your arm, how to aim, the basic known for the bow and arrow, there was us (my boyfriend and I) with this other couple. After the instructor taught us, we head toward the targots and tryed our first couple of shoots. He watched us for a couple of minutes to give us advice how to get better. Then left us on our own. I had like 3 bullies eye (middle of the targot); I was pretty surprised I did those. But the rest was either away the targot, keep going to the same spot, or went out the spot. Parking was pretty much in front - reserved for us. Will definatly come back if we get the chance. read more

I went here a few weeks ago and immediately felt at home and welcome. I'm new to the archery thing and came out to Daly City since this was supposed to be the best in the Bay Area. I had an old compound bow my Father in Law had given me that I wanted them to look at. After some advice and seeing some new bows, I decided to retire the antique and buy a new bow. The owner was very knowledgeable and helpful. She gave me some options for beginners and even suggested a bow I would easily be able to resell if I wanted to upgrade later. The picked out accessories that I would need, some I would want and some optional cool items. They didn't try and oversell me anything. If I said no, they didn't push it and even suggested that I only buy a half of dozen arrows instead of the full dozen. It took them about 30 minutes to set up my bow and we left and had lunch next door (which will be my next review!) Having never bought a bow i didn't know quite what to expect once I had it. I assumed that they would let me shoot a few before I left, but the owner took her time to adjust my sights so they were dead on, and even worked at correcting my stance. (I had taken a few lessons at Archery Only but I learned more in 20 minutes here then in 3 hours over there.) She didn't even mind me taking breaks when my shoulder started to ache. I think in total we were there about 3 hours. The whole time we got excellent service and were made to feel very welcome. While Archery Only is right around the corner from us, I'll be going back here if I need anything else. read more

FIRST TIMER review: A friend and I went here on a whim and had a fantastic time. The owner's son set us up with the glove, forarm guard and gave us a quick lesson on proper form and etiquette --- and off we went. Good thing they charge in half-hour increments, because for your first time half an hour is perfect --- your arm will be VERY tired. Wonderful experience, great customer service, I highly recommend!! I've both bought arrows here and held a birthday party archery lesson here. First, I loved the arrows. I loved them so much that when I eventually lost a couple I went back and had Pacifica make me more. The birthday party lesson I had there was fabulous. Everyone, from the 6 year olds to the 40+ year olds had a great time. We filled the entire place and everyone had an incredibly good time. I'd highly recommend it for your next birthday party. I also like going to practice in the evenings. They stay open until 8pm, and it's usually pretty empty on the lanes so I can shoot in peace. read more

Came here on a livingsocial deal. Called a few hours before and managed to snag a reservation. The lesson went quickly and we were able to shoot about 6 rounds. It was a lot of fun, definitely a change of pace from what we usually do and very cool to learn something like that. I'm taking one star off because 1) the lanes in the range were pretty close together and it was uncomfortable loading arrows when I was poking the person behind me and in front of me with my bow (there were 8 of us in the lesson block, which is a big group) and 2) they told us they lysol the gloves but when we were done the gloves went back into the bin for the next group without cleaning (you're supposed to have your gloved index finger on the corner of your mouth when releasing the string) and I will be very upset if I get a cold sore on my lip from where the glove was supposed to be! read more

Archery shops can be daunting if not cliquish and intimidating, not to mention being very expensive. Which is what Pacifica Archery will cost if one isn't well researched or has planned ahead. Once an initial cost is set in place, all that is needed is as Allen Iverson and Nathan say, is an emphatic ..."Practice Practice x1000 arrows a day, a week". (pejoratively) Pacifica Archery has an indoor range that caters to newbies and those dazzled by pop culture. There are Pro's, semi Pro's & newbies that use the roomy facility to tune, adjust, test and set their bows. Initial experiences at PA can be complete intimidation from the parking lot to inside the store; or one of enthralling bliss as an arrow is released and impacts the target. For the most part they are busy & bustling later in the week and on weekends.Set within a busy bustling tiny strip mall next to a large gym, a constantly busy pizza restaurant and a hardware lighting distributor an pastry shop and around the corner a half dozen other small shops all competing for very tightly congested parking lot with intermittent security. Complete services are offered for the full range of recurve & compound bow setup, maintenance, parts & sales of all levels of bows, choices of complete arrows, shafts and arrow fabrication or assembly; from hunting to target archery. The staff is helpful & well experienced. They balance one another well. They are experienced technicians and active professional shooters. Two in particular have offered tremendous experience and technical data & information to me. I don't know their last names but they are Rudy & Nathan. In regards to Nathan or Rudy; Rudy or Nathan not everyone is able to understand the vast information collected between the two. Not everyone listens, as standard & exact information is offered to those endeavoring to maintain their equipment or develop their form. Though being too enamored yet not completely being able to comprehend and listen to the issue of accuracy as Rudy or Nathan dictate those criteria. Please watch out for Nathan... He can be brutally honest and terse in his zeal to exact the absolute truths as he didactically thrashes you with facts, figures, graphs and practical experience. (he can get scientific) Rudy will calmly explain all factors of any aspect of archery whether compound or traditional recurve. Both Nathan & Rudy's explanations are backed by practical competition, years of building various bows, on going staff training and teaching clients. His delivery is soft & informative, you can understand immediately. So between the two bow techs they balance each other to offer the best information. But you have to do your own research so that you do not get sticker shock. What would I change at PA? I'm not an indoor shooter, tho I on occasion shoot to test. I'd change for better ventilation. When their shop has up to 25 people on the shooting line, or in the showroom, it can get muggy & stuffy. I'd add a sunroof so that natural light would filter in. (I'm an outdoor shooter) I wish they had more variety in traditional & Olympic components like the hunting portions of their showroom, so that I can supply and maintain my Hoyt Epik and not have to go to mail order. I wish it didn't cost so much. (is archery a rich man's sport?) I wish they had a bigger parking lot. I'd wish for Nathan to have a more comfortable chair. In closing... You can come here for almost "Any" of your bow needs from compound to olympic archery.
