First time in Viroqua. It was a Sunday, and not many places were open. Pacifico was one of the few places where we could get a hot meal. We asked a few people for recommendations, and what we heard was that Pacifico has good food, but the service is not very "nice." Nevertheless, we were hungry, and Mexican food was something we could all agree on. It was mid-afternoon, and there were a few other customers there. We were greeted by the host/server and seated with waters. Chips and salsa came right away. We were hungry, and the warm chips with tasty salsa really hit the spot. We started with a couple of regular margaritas. Our niece was carded, but her ID was in the car. She explained that she was 27, and we vouched for her. That settled the server's mind, and we got the drinks, which were very good. We also ordered guacamole, which was chunky and tasted freshly made. The entrées consisted of mixed tacos (beef and pork), a veggie chimichanga, and carnitas. The food came out quickly, with extremely hot plates (and we were warned). Portions were generous, and everything looked good. Everyone was very happy with their meals. My carnitas were excellent. Now about the service. The basics were covered, but it did not feel like they valued our patronage. Some of this might be cultural or language-related. My sense was that English was not our server's first language, and there was no small talk. I can partly understand that. Unfortunately, they did not even check back after the food was served to see if everything was okay (which it definitely was). Our group of 4 stopped in and it wasn't busy 7:30 pm, took 20 minutes for the waiter to come to our table, we ordered, we had each a drink and asked for water which we had to ask for multiple times. Meal was simple, no special requests straight from the menu. One in our party ordered a queso appetizer which they brought but never brought chips. We asked 3 separate times and they never brought them. Food came and rice and beans were ice cold. The waiter literally dropped our food and walked away. 3 of us got our food but the 4th did not. It took us asking someone walking by to get it. Staff was standing at the bar chatting. It is the first time I have ever written a note on the credit card receipt of what our service was like. read more

They keep getting better and better. Fish tacos, burrito w shrimp, fajitas, flautas. Their large house margarita. A large Pacifico in a cold mug. Quick service. Their salsa one of the better ones. No complaints, we'll be back. Again :-) read more

After being seated we waited and waited for someone to bring us the complimentary chips and salsa. Never happened. Someone finally came to take our order and we thought he would see we didn't have them and bring them. Nope. Food finally came and we asked if they still give free salsa and chips and he said yes, do you want them? We finally got them, ok chips and bland salsa. I ordered a fried taco and was given a regular soft taco. The main item I ordered, the burrito Pacifico, was bland. It wasn't bad, but I'd definitely never order it again. Our drinks were only refilled after we got the attention of an employee and asked. And the entire time, the employees were sitting in a booth nearby, talking and laughing. A dinner in Viroqua called for tacos and margaritas and we found this place walking around. The place is authentic and the menu is vast! We ended up getting a few drinks with the chips and salsa and wow, that margarita was huge! I chose peach and it was all I expected. The tacos were really flavorful and the Birria consommé was spot on. Really enjoyed the experience and wanted to try so much more. read more

Not a lot of options for dinner in Viroqua, but Pacifico is solid. Portions are large and flavorful. Waitstaff is attentive. Food came out of the kitchen within minutes. I've not had carnitas in some time and this did the trick. There's also a full bar and a variety of Mexican sodas. First time coming here, and the heat was out. But no worries the food came out hot. The staff was amazing and the food was even better. My husband had Ranchera quesadilla (steak) , it came with a ton of meat. I think what I had was a Texas fajita it came with steak, chicken, big shrimp, bacon and mushrooms. The meat was cut up just right to make a prefect tortilla. We feel this is one of the best Mexican restaurants around this area. Look forward to going back. read more

I really like Pacifico Mexican Bar & Grill. The service was fine, the ambiance is good, they had wifi, but what I really loved was the novelty of several of their menu items. They had more variety than just the standard Tex-Mex you see at many Mexican restaurants. I had the zarape. It was grilled chicken with chorizo, poblano, roasted, corn, onion and peppers covered in a cheese sauce with rice and beans. It was not something I have had before so I really appreciated that. Even their dishes which I've had like Alambre or Azteca are a little bit different from others that I've had I'd definitely return here anytime to continue and explore their menu. read more

I saw another review that mentioned the chili relleno came with ground beef & cheese over it & knew that's what I was going to try. It was really good! A good size for an ala carte item. We also shared the steak fajitas which were really good & enough for 2 to share. Enjoyed a couple large cold beers. Grew up not to far from here and was kinda skeptical when my family told me there was a new Mexican restaurant in town. However, I was pleasantly surprised on my first visit. We were sat quickly and our drink orders were taken and delivered promptly. We ordered guacamole (good) to go with our chips (average). My mother and I both ordered chimichangas (a personal favorite of mine) from the lunch specials. The beef was good and she enjoyed her chicken option. The beef was slightly spicy, which I loved. Sorry to say they've made some changes. Used to be very good. My chile relleno from the vegetarian menu was soggy, had very little cheese in it, and was covered in ground beef!. I'm not a vegetarian, but really... Plus the side of beans was pasty and on the dry side. Hope they can get back together! read more

I can't remember if I shared about their Carnitas because I love almost everything I have ordered at Pacifico, but their Carnitas are the BOMB!! When you order make sure to ask for extra tortillas because the 3 they give you are only enough for about 1/2 of the pork they give you. I also order extra guacamole because theirs is fresh and amazing! The next step is totally personal preference. I like their salsa verde with the carnitas, it makes for a good blend of spice and tart, however if you want some real kick, ask for the extra spicy salsa and order an extra coke and some tortilla chips to absorb the burn. read more

Judging it strictly on what a Mexican restaurant should be it gets 4 stars. It isn't fine dining; its just really good Mexican food. VERY fast service, even on drink orders. They bring out chips/salsa right away which is nice. The menu is huge so its hard to make a choice but I can definitely recommend the Azteca Special. We were seated immediately but they were fairly busy for a random Wednesday night which is great to see for a downtown business. I'll definitely go try it again. read more

Really good food. I had the Mango Cucumber Shrimp Salad - that was really good. Only downside is that under the spinach was a layer of chopped iceberg lettuce. Hubby had the Quesadilla Ranchera - he said it was really good. We got there a little early, which was a good thing - it happened to be prom and a major concert in town. We stopped in here to get lunch with some friends on a Sunday afternoon. This is a perfect spot for Mexican food in my opinion. Comfortable interior, with inexpensive huge portions. I have come this place and ordered to go several times. Last night I ordered to go and go a Pina Colada while waiting. I got the bill and they were over $10 each for the drinks. I am sorry but regardless of the food this is not Chicago and drink prices like this in Viroqua WI are excessive. Their justification was that they charge the same for Margaritas. We were four women seated in a booth waiting for our food while we observed two tables of four men each arrive after us, order their food, get extra chips, then eat their entire meals before we even received ours. The food was very mediocre. I would say this is not authentic Mexican, it is more americanized They forgot to give us our guac but they were very accommodating and they offered to give us a larger size guac and queso for FREE. Maybe it was just an off night however I would try it again. I will say though the pico de Gallo and horchata were very good. read more
