My husband and I wanted to go out and just have a really good Mexican dinner and we both were so disappointed at one in the Prairie Du Chien, the chips they bring before the meal were awful and way over baked and stale. I order a taco salad and the shell was way over baked and tasted terrible and taco salad had no flavor, very bland. The shrimp tacos my husband order looked terrible and over cooked shrimp and shrimp tasted freezer burnt he said. We decided we will not be going back, we would not recommend this place to anyone. Fabulous service and flavorful food make this a great stop in Prairie du Chien if you're looking for a Mexican fix. The house salsa is fire. I asked for the Chicken Flautas with Mole instead of queso. This did not disappoint. Daiquiris are all available in non-alcoholic varieties. Decor and ambiance reflect a typical Mexican restaurant. The Queso Fundido consisted of a plate of greasy fried onions, green peppers and chorizo, maybe a tablespoon of cheese...disgusting. The Nacho Aztecos was a bottom layer of about 8 chips covered in chunks of chicken, lettuce and mush. How this place is still open I have no idea. read more

THE WORST. My husband and I went to this restaurant as it was on our way to home. We were seated by the window where the sun was hitting so I asked the server if we could move to the other side as she brought us chips and salsa. She said it was fine so we carried our chips and salsa to the other table. Our server, a male, came to take out order. We ordered 2 chimichangas vegetarian and a coke. We also asked for the green salsa as he was taking our order to enjoy with chips. 10 minutes later our food comes and we had not been given any silverware. We wait and look at other server trying to tell them we need some silverware. We waited with our food for 8 to 10 minutes before they gave us silverware. The chimichanga was maybe 4" and the rice and beans looked couple days old. Our coke was empty, no refill till 2 mins before we finished our food. I was charged $19.99 per chimichanga with only onions ans bell peppers. I pointed at the chimichanga with $14 price as the vegetarian comes with onions and bell peppers regardless the name. The restaurant also only had like 5 other tables to serve it wasn't that busy at all. Will never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Go to the one by Walmart. Not this one. read more

The salsa is made fresh and it is insanely good. It has a real kick (in a good way) which is sometimes hard to find in the Midwest. The huevos de chorizo and huevos de machaca were both excellent. The carne asada taco was perfect with plenty of cilantro y cebolla. read more

We sat outside on the patio and it was clean, really nice table and chairs. We ordered 2 meals to go. The shrimp enchiladas were great, but the pork chili verde was just chunks of pork with no sauce. We stopped for a late lunch and were extremely impressed with our meal. We sat outside on their patio which offered plenty of seating and shade. We ordered the queso fundido and guac to start and both were good. Both my husband and I had the shrimp chimichangas and they did not disappoint. You can either order 1 or 2. Horrible horrible service. Been there 5 times trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. But every single time it's the same thing. Get seated, and it's 15 minutes before anybody asks for a drink order. Oh and you better drink it slow because nobody is going to come and give you another the whole time you're there. The food is over priced and extremely "watered down" the queso is about a cup and a half and $9 and runny as water. The quesadilla I ordered had twice as many vegetables as it did meat. For $18.99. When we walked in I was impressed with the time and attention the restaurants owners gave to create a really nice atmosphere. It's really a beautiful place. The salsa was really flavorful. Our meals came and we found each plate to have no seasoning. Not even salt. We ended up leaving three uneaten entrees. The entire meal was flat and tasteless. Our relatives had eaten there earlier and I asked what they thought and they got the same opinion, unseasoned dishes. I hope the owners consider hiring a new chef who can give those beautiful Mexican flavors to their dishes. I live in Arizona and I know Mexican food. The food is very good! The beef tamiles are my personal favorite! There are lots of options for food and desserts. The staff is friendly!
