There are many unique items on the menu, but I like to stick to the basics on a first visit to a Mexican restaurant. If the salsa, rice, beans, and bean and cheese burrito is good then I will try something different the next time. So I ordered a combination meal of cheese enchilada and bean & cheese burrito meal. It was served with sides of rice and beans. The salsa was excellent, very fresh and flavorful. Refried beans were very savory with good texture and flavor. The rice was excellent too. Often I find rice to be just ok, but this was full of flavor. I will definitely order a side of rice every time I come here. Service was vey friendly and the dining area was clean. The interior was bright and cheerful with colorful decor. I was excited to see a sign that said "Margarita Flight" so I will plan to dine here sometime when I am not traveling for work. Highly recommend!

A lot of the Mexican restaurants play their authentic music which is okay but this restaurant was playing country music and that was appealing to everyone in our party. Great Food and Service but Payment and Billing System Needs an Update…read more (3.5 Stars ) Mi Viejo is one of the only good restaurants in the Carrollton area aside from the fast food restaurants in the area, Whenever I'm in the Carrollton area I eat here at least once. So far on my visits, the food has been great and the service has been pretty good too. The only issue I face is when I have to get an itemized receipt for business expenses. On my last visit, I asked for an itemized receipt right when I sat down and the server came over. The server assured me that he could do it as I have had this issue on all of my previous visits. Once I ate my delicious perfectly made meal, I again asked for an itemized receipt. The server disappeared for over ten minutes and I had to go to the counter. At the counter they gave me a tiny receipt to show I paid and tipped but no itemized receipt. Again the person at the counter disappeared for another ten minutes as I guess they thought I would just go away. Finally, a manager came out and redid my whole bill and gave me a printed receipt with separate charges for what I ordered but no item description. I guess this is the best that they can do. I do recommend they modernize their POS as since there are several industries in the area, I can't be the only person who has to submit receipts for business expenses. Aside from these ongoing issues, the food is always on point and servers do the best they can.
