Very cute and quaint restaurant that gives cozy vibes. We were still very full so we thought to get a few appetizers. Their pickles are homemade and give a salt and vinegar flavor. Very tart but addicting. Service was good and attentive.

Best food we've had in a while! My husband and I got the fried catfish and pulled chicken sandwich. The macaroni and cheese was excellent. Great southern food, friendly staff and great price for food too! The only thing I would change is more wines by the glass!

    Delicious deviled eggs with pickles.

The food is outstanding, service is amazing and ambiance is welcoming. I'll be back. These people know how to cook and we've it right.

We were anxiously awaiting the reopening of King Cropp at their new location. It was definitely worth the wait! The food is just as excellent as it was at their first location, and the space is larger with more variety for tables/seating arrangements. They have a great patio area that will be so wonderful during the warmer months. If you are a vegetarian (or like me just prefer to eat a lot of vegetables), this is definitely the place to go! The pizza specials included a fully vegetarian, gluten free option, and the macaroni and cheese is vegetarian (as a side or as part of a Mac bowl or other meal). There is a fully vegan entree (tempura sesame cauliflower), as well as a few sides to choose from. On to the details about what we ordered - I had the sparkling Italian white wine and my husband tried the Danvegas cocktail (both excellent). We ordered the fried pickles appetizer which comes with ranch and spiralized carrots/baby greens. I had The Chief (vegetarian Buffalo cauliflower Mac and cheese), and my husband had a half order of jumbo shrimp. We finished with blueberries and cream crème brûlée - it reminded me of the crème brûlée I had in Morocco 10 years ago. It was so good - highly recommended!! We can't wait to go back and try other menu items and specials.

All of the food and drinks were excellent. All of the staff were attentive and kind. They sat me next to the window and I was able to watch the cars and people go by on a nice sunny day.

Yes!! Casual dress is very acceptable here. It's a classy place but jeans and a nice shirt would be fine!

    Are burgers on today's menu?

The bartenders were friendly, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. The menu is small but thoughtfully curated. The hush puppies were fantastic, and while my meal was good, I have to admit I left with a little food envy after hearing everyone rave about the Brussels sprouts! They also offer outdoor seating and a private event space downstairs. The cocktails were a bit on the pricey side, but the cozy atmosphere, great service, and local charm made it well worth the visit. I'll definitely be back and next time, I'm ordering those Brussels sprouts.

As I cut a piece of the chicken, I noticed it was extremely tender. I also noticed that it appeared to be chunks of a breast hand battered. I dipped the chicken into the hot honey and then the ranch. OMG it was the BEST boneless chicken wing I've ever had! Seasoned perfectly with lemon pepper and cooked to perfection. We ate the whole plate of chicken! Brooke was our server and she said she was going to try them herself later. She was very helpful and offered a wide variety of food and drink options. I like when staff has actually tried the food and drinks to be able to offer and honest opinion. I ordered a river District, social margarita and a rum punch. Both were very good. She skipped the onions, added ketchup and mustard, and got a side salad. I kept mine simple with no ketchup or mustard. Food came out fast. Appetizer and burgers hit the table in just over five minutes, which was impressive. The burgers were good. Not over the top, but juicy and worth the price. The only miss was the bun. It was cold and could have used a quick toast or at least some heat. The house salad was fresh with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, cheese, and croutons. I tried to swap my fries for sweet potato fries and ended up getting both, so no complaints there. Just know the sweet potato fries count as extra. Fries came out hot and stayed hot. The sweet potato fries had a nice balance, not soggy, not too hard. The corn fritters were the standout. Crispy on the outside, soft and sweet inside. Service from Amber or Shannon was great. Attentive, friendly, and helpful. The only slowdown came at the end. It took longer to get the check than it did to receive the food. The space is in a reclaimed industrial building with exposed brick and high ceilings. Very large and open with plenty of room for groups and events. There is a main dining area, a busy bar, and a separate section with bowling lanes. The crowd was mixed. Families, couples, groups, people at the bar, even a few on laptops. Plenty of TVs and music, but it stays at a manageable level. Accessibility is decent with a lift available. Parking is nearby street or lot parking. Overall, a fun, casual place with strong value, especially on Tuesday nights. Must order: Corn fritters Heads up: Buns may come out cold and sweet potato fries are an extra

The atmosphere had that nostalgic charm that's hard to fake -- soft warm lighting, classic comfort-food smells drifting through the air, and the kind of relaxed, familiar vibe where you instantly feel at home. That crunchy seasoned coating had the kind of homemade taste that instantly reminds you why classic Southern comfort food never goes out of style. We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery. It is a beautiful location right next to the River District. There's a lovely park, splash pad, and playground right along the Dan River. We were so stoked to eat right there. The interior of the restaurant was so fun. We loved the decorations. Books everywhere! The server was ok at first. But when we were done, I did not like how she presented me the check. She just quickly flashed me an amount on a screen, and then hid the screen. I asked if I could pay cash and she accepted it but did not bring me a check even then. We ordered 3 burgers that sounded really good. Such a disappointment. The burger meat in each was shaped perfectly and was as hard as a hockey puck. They appeared to be cooked medium but the meat was tough and gristly. I have no idea how they got all the burgers the exact, uniform hockey puck shape. They must be like those frozen ones you can get at Costco. But $17.95 for a frozen hockey puck? At one point, while my kids were telling me how gross the patties were, while my husband and I told them they had to eat them to go play on the playground, I flagged the server down and asked what type of meat it was. She said beef. However, it did not taste like beef. Thank goodness for all the toppings because if they were plain burgers, they would have been inedible. We were so hungry though so we ate what we could. Notably, the buns also tasted cheap like they had just come out of a stale grocery store deli bag. The seasoned fries, sweet potato fries, the homemade ranch and ketchup, and salad with homemade vinaigrette were ok. After we left, I added up what we ordered again and realized she must have charged me an extra $12 to swap out a veggie patty for a beef patty. I was not told there would be an upcharge so felt a little swindled, especially with how she presented the check. I wish I had kept the veggie patty though, because it probably would have been better. Also my kid who had said the burgers were so gross puked right after we left and immediately felt much better and enjoyed 2 hours on the playground. My other kid was jealous of the other one puking. Like you can't make this kind of stuff up. This spot has so much potential. I would honestly hope to visit again just to chill outside but would not ever eat the burgers.
