I avoided this restaurant for a few years because of the poor customer service. We were craving thai food one night and since this was restaurant was open late on Sunday, we decided to eat here. We shared the vegetable dumplings, which were tasty. Their pad thai was good, but way too saucy for me. I gave it 2.5 stars. It tasted better the next day. The restaurant was decorated traditionally and was clean and comfortable. There's a bar area on the left side (upon entering through the front.) The servers were rushing us (but it was near closing hours) but weren't rude this time. I probably won't be back anytime soon unless I need to. We stopped here after grabbing some drinks nearby, as per the bartender's recommendation. They had an extensive menu with lots of pictures that really helped. We had a sweet pad thai and mai tai, which were both alright. The service was nice, and the place was fairly clean. Next time, I think I would try something else, but I don't think I'll be returning anytime particularly soon. Recommend the green curry beef (you can choose your protein) and their dessert of mango with sticky rice and banana with rice wrapped in banana leaf. The seafood fried rice could've been better if it had real seafood since they used fish balls and imitation crab in it. The shrimp was real though. Also you can choose how spicy the dish is. This is my favorite place to get pad Thai. I've tried countless places- a bunch of places in NJ, expensive NYC restaurants, you name it. I still have yet to find a chicken and shrimp pad thai that I like nearly as much as this one. My friends and I are convinced we just need to go to Thailand to find one that is comparable lol. If you want authentic Thai food that is ACTUALLY spicy and flavorful- come here (although you can get anything mild as well). Lovely staff and space, and great service. Once again, happy belly, five star experience! We moved away but every chance we get to come back to NJ, we crave Pad Thai. Not only the dish, but this restaurant too! We just love being treated as old friends around here. Like Cheers. Lol. Now they serve an array of noodle soups with their signature Thai soups as base. Curry soup, Tom Yum, etc. so imagine a rainy early spring afternoon, you and your spouse and your new baby are hungry for some Thai, and you are cold from the spring rain, how satisfying is that piping hot noodle soup that soothes your every need?! There was an abundance of shrimps, meat balls, and pork in my Tom Yum Rum Mit noodle soup. I could not finish the whole thing and I had enough to take home. Hubby had the spicy seafood noodle soup (with peanut sauce). He devoured that thing like a boss. Baby can't eat noodles yet, but we let her tasted the sweet and spicy sauce from the steamed mussels we had for appetizer. Baby loved it. By the way, our baby can take the heat! Next time we visit, we will order something for the baby, since she may be ready to eat more regular food by then. Food: Being at a Thai restaurant, I know I should be trying the main offering i.e. Pad Thai, but I decided to be bold and go with another called, "Pad Kee Mao," this dish is served with flat rice noodles, similar to chow fun; mixed with shrimp, chicken, pork, onions, green peppers, jalapenos and egg bits. ***One unique thing about this place is the spice level that they offer. Now what you and I consider, "spicy" is a discussion best left for home. This place is no joke, I REPEAT THE SPICES ARE TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY!!! Like any other Korean American, I enjoy my risque foods, but these guys are on a whole other level. I highly recommend going with a mild and working your way up, otherwise you have been forewarned! I once made the mistake of trying medium and realized that my pitcher of water soon became my best friend, along with the bathroom...*** As for the taste of the dish, offering too many meats rather than one or the other hurts to define any particular item. I am super picky about Thai food. When home in Las Vegas, my go-to for Thai food is the storied Lotus of Siam, so almost any time I visit another Thai restaurant I find myself disappointed. When visiting my parents this month, they took me to Pad Thai in Highland Park, and I was very impressed. My family split an order of basil fried rice with white meat chicken ($1 extra, but worth it), and I got an order of garlic black pepper chicken. We asked for the communal rice to be made 7 out of 10 spicy, and when I placed my order for the garlic pepper chicken, I told the waitress I wanted it ridiculously spicy. "Like, super crazy hot. No matter how hot you think I want it, I want it spicier." She warned me that they wouldn't let me send it back if it was too spicy. I laughed at that. So when our food came out, I was surprised to discover that the delicious fried rice, with its huge chunks of green chili, was actually at first blush the spicier dish. The fried rice was fluffy and lightly seasoned, allowing the freshness of the ingredients to stand out. When I dug into the garlic black pepper chicken, sauteed in a dark sauce and served in a bowl liberally topped with fried garlic, I enjoyed the rich garlic flavor and a bit of a tanginess. After about ten minutes, I realized how sneakily spicy this dish was - the heat didn't overwhelm the flavor of the dish itself, and only snuck up on me afterwards. That's the best kind of spicy. The dinner menu here is fairly extensive, although the lunch menu is a little more limited - however, everything on the lunch menu is just $7.95. If I was in Jersey more than once every year or two, this would definitely be a restaurant I'd frequent. read more

The second time we got takeout we ordered the green curry with tofu and the red curry with tofu. It came with a side of white rice. The curry was a bit too watery but tasted good. It had the perfect amount of flavor and spice to it. There was tons of vegetables inside the curry but only like 2 or 3 pieces of tofu! Came here for dinner after our long weekend vacation and it was quite a let down. Asked waiter for recommendations and he couldn't give us any. We've passed by this place a thousand times and always talked about trying it. We find it to be good but not great. A highlight is the fast, friendly service. We also liked the wide variety of vegetarian selections. A drawback is the atmosphere. It is very loud even though it's only about half full. There are pictures of the dishes everywhere which set expectations. For example the picture of spring rolls showed 6 but we were served 5. The prices on the pictures also don't always match the menu prices. The food was tasty but could have been hotter (temperature-wise, not spice). This used to be my favorite Thai food spot! I love to start off with their spring rolls and fried calamari (I know, not so Thai), but the calamaris are delicious! Very meaty, flavorful, and tasty with the sauce! Then I usually get one of the curries (red, green, and yellow) or one of the noodle dishes (Pad Thai, pad see ow, or pad kee mao). My favorite is the red curry because I like the taste of the curry sauce and the type of vegetables in the dish! However, they give you dark meat, and white meat is $1 extra, which I would recommend. I tried it with dark meat once, and I did not like it because all the pieces of chicken were in irregular shapes, and that really messed up the overall texture of the dish. After visiting other Thai restaurants around the area and in Jersey, Pad Thai is about average. The service is great as the orders come out quickly at a timely fashion, and the waiters come by often to check on us regularly and to refill our waters. So I used to LOVE this place, the food was always very good and fresh tasting, but recently (within the past year) I'm not sure if they changed chefs or management or what but the quality of the food took a NOSEDIVE. Appetizers are rubbery, food tastes like it had been repurposed or reused from the previous day. Not fresh. The chicken in the pad Thai (upon ordering a few different occasions) tastes like it may be old and the spicy range they offer is never right or consistent. You either get "mild spicy" (not spicy at all, we're talking NOTHING) or "spicy" (a gigantic lump of chili paste in your dang pad Thai) and ordering for takeout on the phone is nearly impossible. A very rude man takes the orders and questions everything you tell him. I asked for medium spicy once and he shouted at me that it would be very spicy! What even?! I haven't been back since. Consistency is the hallmark of a great restaurant and that's just not present here anymore. The food was very good at one point and the staff very friendly. It's a shame really. There are plenty of other Thai places in the area that are more willing o step up to the plate, if you're on the fence, you should probably pass on Pad Thai. read more

We ordered Pad Thai with white meat ($11.99), eggplant entree with pork ($11.99) and Green Curry with chicken ($11.99). Pad Thai is flavorful with varieties of ingredients, including dried tofu. Eggplant entree is also good. Chicken in green curry is a little blank. Curry is a little light in flavor. Brown rice is soft and flavorful. The portion size is huge- definitely enough to take home for a second meal (unless you're really hungry). I go with the mild, but it can get pretty spicy so beware. I came here after a business meeting - there were 12 disorganized, demanding (Indian) IT guys in the back room of this Thai restaurant. Our slighty butch server was fairly rude, but it seemed to keep our group in order. Being mostly Indian the food orders were unsurprisingly confusing: some vegetarian, some non-veg, some liked chicken only, no eggs whilst others were ok with everything except pork. I laughed when even the mildly hot food stopped a few of my Indian colleagues in their tracks?! What?! I've never seen that. So is that a sign of authentic Thai food? Don't know. What I do know is that my duck was amazing. It was roasted and then deep-fried to a crispy and crunchy finger-licking plate that was admired by all at the table. It's the next morning after our dinner and I still have smoke coming out of my ears - yes by George they do serve up Thai hot here. Our first visit to this place in a dozen years and well worth the trip. Large menu and real nice ambience compared to it's sister restaurant Four Seasons, which is a hole in the wall. Still one of my go-to restaurants in town. I stick with the curries, mostly, and dishes without rice or noodles. I find them to be a bit better. My personal favorites: red curry, massaman curry, pad ga prow, and my one trusty noodle dish- guay teow pad ped kee moa. Some of the other dishes I've tried err on the sweet side, which isn't really my thing. Spice: they will mess you up with spice if you want them to. My normal is Medium, which is pretty hot. Most people I know opt for Mild. I've tried their Hot and Thai Spicy levels, but can't eat more than a bite or two. Drinks!: Pad Thai has a liquor license and they're not afraid to use it. Unfortunately July 10, 2017 was my last day there as a customer. I started going there in 2009 when the place was well kept and the food was delicious. While the food is not as good as it was back then, it is still a far way from being bad. The issue is the LACK OF customer service. On July 9, 2017 I placed an order for food with a man and the older woman checked me out. She asked my name, what I ordered, charged me, gave me my meal, I tipped her and went on my merry way. When I opened the container a day later for lunch I realized it was NOT what I ordered. I called explaining that I received the incorrect order and the same man from the day before proceeded to tell me that I should have said beef fried rice and that he is going to remake it so why am I arguing with him. He didn't say I'm sorry about that xyz. The menu doesn't say beef fried rice nor do I know if there is something else on the menu that says something similar so I stuck to the name on your menu (here is a tip- learn English) fried rice is not tofu and noodles... Additionally him remaking it is not solving the problem of the huge inconvenience this caused. I had to drive twelve miles out of my way for this. When I asked him for his name he said 'I don't need it' ... when I arrived I asked for the manager who was the same older woman who checked me out. She remembered me and starts to defend herself by saying she didn't take my order. Longer story short, I said I'm not sure if you guys spat on the food you remade so I'm uncomfortable taking it. Mr. No Name emerges and starts blaming me for the error then said 'I don't want to talk to you anymore'... Clearly my patronage is not needed so I kindly asked for my money back, the two dollars in tip I left the day before and left. (As the older woman aka the manager refunded me she said 'I guess you're not hungry then'. Four Seasons Thai Cuisine in Piscataway will get my money from now on. This place has some amazing thai food. I personally am a huge fan of the chicken green curry and that is my go to meal to try at any new thai place. My girlfriend got the pad thai, which is their specialty, so it was full of flavor and spice. The spicy level of this place is quite high so if you dont have high tolerance get mild.
