Okay Thai food. The pad see ew was not too bad. The tom yum was not too bad. I just wish the food had a bit more basil flavor and the noodles were stir fried a little more. The food was tasting more like Chinese cuisine than Thai. The mango sticky rice was very good. I loved the chew of the rice paired with the mango. This spot used to be River Thai (which I loved). It has been replaced by Baan Tai Thai. New owner, new dishes. The service was very good. The owner was very hospitable. Her staff was friendly and courteous. The place was redone. It was brighter and felt more homey. The food was excellent! Everything was so flavorful. I liked their play on rotti, the bread was done in a waffle maker. Pretty cool. I had the grilled pork chop, while my wife had the Basil Duck. Both were extremely flavorful. The crispy noodles that came with the satay skewers were so addicting. It was crazy. I couldn't get enough of it. I highly recommend this place. I love it better than River Thai. read more

What a great find! My friends and I stumbled upon this restaurant when looking for dinner around the area, and it was just the perfect spot for all of us. Cozy interior, incredibly sweet staff, and tasty food. Our group had a variety of curries, noodles, and rice dishes, and everyone loved their orders. Very solid local Thai food! While passing through town, I ate dinner here with my parents, both of whom lived in Thailand and have high expectations for food. My Thai mother and I agreed that the roti (very interesting! Made in a waffle maker!), the drunken noodles, and the Panang curry with chicken were lovely. We forgot to specify spice level, but it came out a perfect 3/5 for me. If you like spicier, you should specify when you order. My dad had a duck dish which I didn't try, but I think he and my mom liked it. Restaurant is clean and bright. Best of all, the owner and staff were lovely. It felt like being welcomed into a Thai home. The people of South River and surrounding areas are lucky to have this new addition to their area. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. I visited a couple of weeks ago with my parents while I was recovering from an illness and craving something comforting.. and Thai food came to mind. I had read that Tom Kha soup is gentle on the stomach, so I gave it a try. It arrived quickly and was exactly what I needed; warm, soothing, and full of flavor. We also ordered the Panang Curry, a shrimp dish, and another item that wasn't on the menu. My dad had spotted a photo of it and asked the waitress if they could make it. She said yes without hesitation, which was such a kind gesture. As we waited for the food, I started to feel a little weak again, but the moment I took a bite of the Panang Curry, it was like life rushed back into me. It was so delicious and comforting that I actually teared up; it truly felt like food for the soul. Every dish was served quickly, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. To top it all off, the owner and chef came out after our meal to personally greet us. Knowing this is a family-owned and operated restaurant makes the experience even more special. Had lunch at this restaurant today. The place was very clean and was nicely decorated. The owner greeted us and sat us down at our table. The three of us ordered a variety of dishes including their from their lunch menu. Everything tasted amazing and flavorful. You can just tell them if you want a particular dish as spicy or mild as you want. Dessert was just as tasty. The only food item we did not enjoy was their Pad thai as we found it a bit on the sweet side. Otherwise it tasted delicious. The amazing dishes we had were Thai Spring rolls, chicken Satay, papaya salad, tamarind duck, Pad Ka Pao (lunch special that comes with salad and a drink), mango sticky rice was our dessert that we shared. Super yummy!!! Prices are reasonable and there is parking in front of the restaurant on Main Street or behind in the Municipal parking lot. It's free now during the Christmas season!
