When we got there they rudely told us we were an hour late and they "put away" our paddleboards. If we had come at 4 we would've been out until 6 anyways...I truly don't see a difference. They don't cite a cancellation policy online. Anyways, the entire interaction was incredibly rude and they were very condescending and acted like they couldn't believe we could've gotten the time wrong. Innocent mistake, not very kind or understanding company.

We had a great time on the ATV tour with Stratton Adventures. First off, read their website about…read morewhere to go. We had lunch in the village and then got back in our cars and followed the GPS to a spot where there were no people. Come to find out we were just steps away while eating lunch, so we quickly doubled back. It's on the mountain not offsite. We were staying in Killington and there is an ATV tour company there, but there was no availability. We called Stratton Adventures and they were able to squeeze us in on the 2:00 summit tour and I was so glad they did! I think we got the better tour because you go to the top of the actual mountain, and see it all, the ski lifts, mountain bikers, hikers, etc. It just seems more interesting than a course in Killington that's not on the ski slope. We had two guides, one in front and one bringing up the rear. They got us fitted for helmets, explained the equipment, and off we went. It was definitely family friendly but you also had some spots where you could really open up if you wanted to. My husband drove the whole time and we had a blast. As long as you are both licensed drivers you can switch drivers if you want to. The guides showed us some bear prints at the summit and had a lot of great stories. It was a good mix of riding and photo opportunities. We got lucky, it was a beautiful day to be on the mountain. I highly recommend Stratton Adventures. Even if you're staying in the Killington area as we were, it was worth the drive. Fun experience! I'd love to go back in the winter and try the snowmobile tour.

As a seasoned local guide from Vermont, Christian's knowledge of the area and where the fish were was exceptional. He gave us great tips, tricks, and talked us through the best ways to catch fish. Throughout the day, we caught close to 20 rainbow trout and several brown trout. I can confidently say that Christian was the best guide I've ever had for fly fishing. Me, husbo, and dog hit a twofer this weekend - 2 hikes, 1 day. What can I say - I was feeling inspired. Hike We did the Mount Olga trail - accurately rated moderate. It was up, up, and more up. There's no lookout after all that uphill but there is a fire tower that gives 360 degree views. Ordinarily, I like to see fire towers, but not climb them. I was determined this time, tho. Unfortch right at the turn off for the tower my hamstring started to twitch which means I have about T-5 minutes until a debilitating cramp unless I get myself together. I didn't want to chance it so we continued around the loop. I REALLY liked this trail. I found all the uphill interesting, somewhat challenging, a few good rock scrambles, too. On the way down there were a few butt sits, and a water crossing, too. I love varied terrain like this. Minimal bugs and just enough people out to not feel alone, but to also go for 20 minutes at a time without seeing anyone else. The hike starts outside the visitor center and ends just above the campgrounds. About the campground: It's beautiful, wooded yet airy. Huge sites with sturdy picnic tables and glorious fire pits. They even have lean-tos! I've a right mind to book one this week before they close for the season. Bathrooms My husband used them before the hike and said they were CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. Now I know that well-run campgrounds always keep a pristine bathroom but this was a surprise to him. Between the bathrooms and the camp sites he was really excited about finally going camping as a family (I usually go solo). Visitors Center Charming building and wonderful staff. The man checking us in provided accurate information and was very warm and friendly. I cannot WAIT to go back here once the spring rolls around. Lovely all around. Things to Know: -parking and overflow parking at Visitor Center -$5 entry fee per adult person. Day pass also valid at other state parks during the same day -dog friendly

The Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center is exactly what I was looking for during an unplug-and-get-outside…read moreweekend. It's fairly easy to get to - there aren't all that many roads in Vermont, so as long as you try and stay on the main ones, you'll get to the Outdoor Center eventually. It's that place right next to the cheese factory (!!!) with all of the cross-country skiers milling about. The lodge at the bottom is charming, complete with snack bar, rentail center, and crackling fire in the fireplace. The woman at the front desk and all the staff at Grafton Ponds (actually...pretty much everyone we encountered throughout the day), were so friendly. I saw a sign for a student discount after I had paid, and she refunded the difference in price to my entire group right there, on the spot. Our ski and boot rentals looked brand-spanking new, and trails were maintained beautifully. Speaking of the trails...a great combination of terrain. The trails were equally divided between flat, open-field skiing and winding, rolling, throw-yourself-downhill-and-hope-you-don't-hit-a-tree skiing (my favorite). The map is clearly marked, and trails are well-labeled. There's even an adorably rustic warming hut at the highest point - it has an old woodstove, some benches, and a lovely view. Grafton Ponds is lots of wholesome, outdoor fun for all ages and abilities.

Wow! We discover this place yesterday. We had so much fun…read morewith the kids (9, 12, 15). I was able to teach them all the basics technics thanks to the terrain park. They practiced and within few minutes they were looking like they had been experts! Then we could have fun on the trails. After the biking the children swam in the pond while we relaxed on the grass. I only give 4 stars because I feel this place could do a little better with more in-wood trail and fun stuff. We already look forward to come back to the area just for this.

We came here for 2 2-person lessons during a ski weekend. Though the facility looked great, if I…read morecould give 0 stars for the lesson, I would. I called to get 2 1-hour 2 person lessons for Monday and Tuesday (1/21-22) and knowing what I know now, I should have taken it as a warning that they seemed to coordinate throwaway sessions (eg. 5pm on Monday with 1 person and 12pm on Tuesday with another). Not withstanding, we walked in on Monday enthusiastic for a lesson for my 4.5 year old daughter and my wife. My daughter had taken a semester of tennis and my wife recently gave birth to our second daughter and is interested in taking up a new sport (she has played a few times recreationally with no training). Our daughter is extremely athletic and despite her age and size is a Level 3 swimmer and Level 2 gymnast. We have heard from anyone who has ever taught her what a pleasure she is to deal with and how much she is eager to take direction and adjust. So we walked in and the facility looks like a Junior tennis dream, they have a child net, walls, manipulatives, floor decals. It is a shame none of those were used during their lesson. The instructor, Seth, behaved little better than a ball machine with a snide demeanor, seemingly annoyed to be there. As he swapped off time between my wife and daughter throwing ball after ball at an adult net, no direction was given. No games were played with my daughter, no playfulness was shown. I sat in on most of my daughter's semester and she got orders of magnitude more direction/adjustment than this on day 1 of a group (!!!) class at 3.5 y/o. As I watched, it was so obvious that I thought the instructor must be some savant, spending the first half of the lesson assessing and would come back the second half with adjustments. He didn't. And at the end when we asked for guidance, for anything really to make this feel as if it weren't a total waste of time and money (which it was), he called my daughter young (duh) and my wife a beginner (duh) and that they should just 'have fun'. The guy was literally simultaneously USELESS and demeaning. I thought, maybe it was just us, that he saw the tourists come into town and treats regulars differently, however I saw him in a lesson after ours (another woman) and he behaved the same. We paid him for the grace of his presence, I politely cancelled our second lesson and walked out enraged. I was angry not as much over the waste of money, but more over the fact that he could have very easily soured them on tennis from this experience. If one is annoyed dealing with amateurs then they shouldn't take them--- and certainly shouldn't be in the business of introducing children to anything, let alone a sport. People like this should literally be run out of the industry.
