My first time at Bromley Mountain !

Super beautiful place and so full of life! Tons of activities for families and friends. Alpine Slide is crazy awesome!!

Okay. We are on vacation up here in VT and I bought the triple play package. It was 70 dollars and I feel it was worth it. The ropes course was amazing even if I couldn't make it through all of them. My fiancé conquered three out of four of the courses and felt it the next day for sure. That was just a fun time in the trees. And they give you two hours of rope time which I thought was a good amount of time. My son LOVED the alpine slide. I lost track of the amount of times he went down the slides. We did the zip line. I loved it. I wish it were longer tbh but I mean there's zero complaints from me. We didn't hit the water slide or the mini golf because....alpine slides took priority after the rope course. The staff was amazingly friendly at each adventure we went on. They had us smiling and laughing at each one. That just made it that much better. Everyone was chill and it was welcomed. The only bummer of the place is the food. I mean I don't expect gourmet at all but I don't expect to pay ten dollars for a burger and chips. But I was smart this time and ordered one for my son because I knew he wouldn't eat the whole thing and his leftovers were just perfect. Even the staff at the food section was so friendly so that made up for the random expensive burger sitting under the warming light. I would definitely recommend this to anyone vacationing in the summer. We were all very happy and sore by the time we left!!

Wow. Simply wow. I fell in love with Bromley again. I had last been here in the 1973-74 timeframe when the resort was owned by one of the Pabst beer owners and they had a double double lift and a whole bunch of J-bars. Yes I'm getting old..... Well - when I came here over 40 years ago, Bromley was already one of the historic mountains where the sport of skiing was born. A few years later, it was one of the first ski areas in the country to allow snowboarding. It is historic, it is quaint, it is definitely New England. As if that wasn't granola enough, and to make it even more interesting, the Long Trail and the Appalachian Trail go over the mountain with its amazing views. Although the buildings show their age, I hope they're not just replaced as the character of the mountain and the buildings match. It is beautiful. Coming over to Bromley today is sheer pleasure. One of the very few mountains facing South. So on an uber frosty New England bluebird morning, when even groomed slopes achieve the consistency of furrowed steel, Bromley gets from frosty to powdery in a couple of hours after the sun comes up. Arriving here is easy, the lodge and the slopes are a few feet from the highway. Enter a circular driveway, meet some friendly Ambassadors who will assist in the offload of equipment and bags, and proceed on a driveway and an underpass under the highway to the parking lot, plentiful parking and a bus/truck to bring you back to the lodge. Get your stuff, buy your tickets and then go into the fireplace-centerpieced lodge that has access to everything, from rentals to cafeteria to shops under one roof. I found the staff to be specially congenial and knowledgeable. Once in the lodge, there are plenty of cubicle stands around the walls to store your gear. Nothing drives me up a wall more than people commandeering tables in a ski lodge, leaving their junk under a dining table - some times even ON the table, then going skiing, and creating an abominable chaos by preventing people from even sitting down as chairs and benches don't fit under the table, much less people's feet. Fortunately, Bromley minimizes the problem although when we came back to the lodge for lunch, inconsiderate people were doing just that. Which I blame not as much on the people but on a resort's careless management. Enough of my number one pet peeve. Once you don your gear, walk just a few steps to skier's left to the Sun Quad or for beginners, to the East Mountain fixed double chair. The latter one accesses only beginner trails and keeps novices safe from out-of-control skiers and boarders. The former, the Sun Express Quad, whisks you up to the very top at 3,284 feet, a 1.300-foot vertical, quite respectable, and in addition, affording some of the most amazing scenic views in New England - you can see from New York State, halfway through New Hampshire, and many miles into Massachusetts. On a sunny day, anyone MUST bring a camera or smartphone and take some pictures. As we were unsure of the conditions that seemed from downright icy to groomed, we began our day on the long Green cruiser, Runaround, to Upper and Lower Thruway. We found this first run deliciously groomed, and returned to the Sun Express to take some of the runs off the Twister run, also well groomed and well snow covered. Once we skied several of these superb runs as the snow was softening up under the bright south sun, we moved to the Blue Ribbon Quad, a fixed quad serving primarily Black Diamond terrain. There were numerous Black Diamonds, all in good to excellent conditions. Overall, a superb, refreshing, high-energy day. One item worth taking to Bromley on a bluebird day... I didn't think I would need it. DO take sunscreen. Or else be ready with a good supply of sunburn lotion at home and be prepared to look like a raccoon for a couple or weeks. We'll definitely be back.

In Summer camp, I used to do hikes that ended up at Bromley, and then we'd do the alpine slide.

There were so many beautiful areas along the boardwalk. The lemon squeezer and dungeon were the most difficult but also the most fun! We got a bit muddy and wet but that's all part of the adventure! We also loved the huge birds nest at the end and got a huge laugh out of pretending to be baby birds. I would definitely come back here again!

I had heard there were gorges & caves to explore different from other trails nearby along with beautiful pines and waterfalls. It exceeded all my expectations! It says this is a 1 mile loop hike but be prepared- I walk a 5k daily & this trail kicked my butt in a good way. It was moderately challenging- I went in the rain so it was a bit cooler too. The best advice I could offer is to take a backpack with snacks, another jacket just in case (although i layered up), pack rain pants to help keep me warm in the rain, and shoes with good traction. And plenty of water. Beanies may also be a good option to keep your head warm from the cold. And a portable battery. Also, if you haven't traveled with a car like me..then the Shuttle Connection is a life saver to travel in town. Way cheaper than Uber and fairly quick to transport you wherever you want to go. Also for travelers go back and forth to other states travel by bus is the perfect and most affordable way to travel. This trail offered amazing views, great photo ops, and plenty of additional trails to explore. They also make sure to keep everything maintained and safe for hikers exploring. Everything is well labeled and easy to follow. They do say and I can attest- travelers who have difficulty walking or have walkers etc..this may not be an ideal trail. Also, for younger children this may not be an kdela hike because of how extensive the elevation is. You are climbing a mountain and waterfall elevation. Make sure to look up details on their trail before you plan a trip. But well worth the hike :)

It's hard to say no to these wonderful time capsules. One that's been on our list for years is the original Santa's Land (no affiliation) in Putney, Vermont, which celebrates its 65th anniversary in 2022. After years of neglect and abandonment, I must admit we were a little apprehensive about the park taking on a more contemporary look. But thankfully that wasn't the case. We found the park to be quite enchanting complete with gingerbread men, life size elves from the 1950's and even an original carousel from Coney Island. Their larger-than-life slide will quickly remind you just how much fun can be had with a burlap sack. We had the pleasure of speaking with the new owner (of six and a half years). He recalled how he used to visit the park as a young child, and always told his parents that he wanted to one day own all of this. He not only made his dream come true, but he also saved the park from oblivion. The friendly staff seem to have a real passion for keeping this park alive and it shows! Thank you, THANK YOU, for a wonderful day. Santa's Land USA is a perfect balance of old and new for all to enjoy!

In 2024, we were on a Six Flags kick and hit up as many on the east coast as we could. One last stop was to Great Escape, another of the parks within driving distance of the Boston area. Our trips to these parks farther away usually end up being multiple days, so on this visit we did a Sat/Sun visit during spooky season. As you drive along I-87, you spot SFGE off to the right. What greets you though isn't the best looking park in the world because you've got to see front and center, one of the ugliest Arrow coasters known to man. This thing has seen better days, the best thing this place could do is tear it down and put something in that spot that has a wow factor. Like yesterday, just do it. Our GPS took us right up to the park when it was typed in, whoops. Totally our fault, but we had to turn around in a hotel right next door to the park to actually go to the lot entrance, which is on the other side of the road (the sign isn't super big and you get no warning as to when it's coming). Parking in Lot #2 wasn't paved, so it was really difficult for our two kid stroller to navigate, I can't imagine how someone with a wheelchair gets around in there. Pave this next time, please. I continue to mention the two day stay, because one wasn't really pleasant at all while the other was a dream. And yes, when I say that I mean the size of the crowd. Too many unchaperoned teens running around on Saturday not really caring who they might run into or what they were saying around small kids. Sunday was nothing like that and most rides were a walk-on. The park itself is relatively clean, especially compared to its Six peers. It's probably that time of year, but why must you close down what amounts to big portion of the front of the park? I counted 6-7 rides closed the first day, including some kid rides that they were disappointed they wouldn't be getting on. They are trying to compete by adding the likes of Bobcat, the new and possibly the best entry from The Gravity Group. Find something with a small footprint like Bobcat to again, welcome people to the park, not one that your grandparents enjoyed in the 80's. That thing looks far from being any kind of "demon". The carry over items from when it was Storytown are a lot of fun, even if some of them look a bit dated. I'm just glad they decided to keep this decor, from the castle now flowing with rivers of blood for Halloween to the tiny storefronts all kids up to the age of 7 will enjoy. You can also see some of the items from the olden days on the train ride around the park. We got a meal deal for the day, where you can purchase a meal or snack every 90 minutes. As long as you get there early, this is super worth it. But what we didn't plan on was waiting in line 25 minutes to get dinner so this can hurt the timing of it all and you might miss out on a last snack at the end of your day. The nachos were stellar, the pizza I give a 4.2 on the Portnoy scale, and the chicken tenders were you know, tenders. It's amusement park food but at least none of it made us sick to go on rides. The next day we had a treat of fried dough which was super fresh and soft. Staff was hit or miss, 90% of them like most places, were helpful and nice...even if they can be tough to find beyond those working rides at times if you have questions. We ran into a few that could have been having a bad day, it can't be an easy job trying to watch out for the safety of teenage idiots all day. It's not the best Six Flags, refurbishments suck when you hope they wait until after October ends and its all closed until the spring. Some of it still needs an upgrade but overall, we enjoyed ourselves. There is still work to be done and I hope SF and the new corporate structure will continue giving this park the time and money it deserves for what is a pretty rural community. But it was still enjoyable enough to get us back some day, as long as things can remain open and staffed.
