Visiting Sarnia for work this was recommended by the hotel. It was absolutely fabulous, my meal was delicious. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was good for sitting at the bar as a solo traveler. However, I did notice the place was massive and had plenty of seating. The night I was there there was a comedy show, I only caught the first few minutes, it seemed great, except for the fact that I had to wake up very early in the morning and still had some work to catch up on. My husband & I met some friends in Sarnia to meet our new baby. After walking around a nearby park, we decided to stop somewhere to eat. We picked this place & it was a great choice! We didn't go inside, so I'm not sure what it was like in there, but they had a band playing & they were really good. We sat out on their patio & it was a really clean & cute! Our server was very friendly & attentive! She was quick to bring a highchair for our car seat & was always around checking on us if we needed anything. My husband ordered a few beers he enjoyed. I ordered the chicken schnitzel, my husband got the Reuben & our friends ordered some apps. I don't remember exactly what they ordered but I think one of the apps was the dumplings & they said they enjoyed both. My schnitzel was SO good & my husband really liked his sandwich. We live in metro Detroit & this was our first time in Sarnia. We don't have any idea if/when we will return, but if we do, I would definitely come back here! read more

This pub is really decorated well. The ambience is fantastic. Very warm and welcoming... Lots of dark woods. I wish I had gotten the name of the server... She did a great job. Blonde girl... Very cute. Her birthday is next week. The service was warm and friendly. The food was OK. Not great. I had the steak Fritas... The steak was a little tough. But the overall experience was strong. Great food, large portions. French onion soup was really flavorful. Steak and mushroom stew had tender chunks of beef and lots of button mushrooms, topped with 2 Yorkshire puddings. Burgers were piled high, even the kids burger had surprisingly delicious buttered buns that were both savory and light at the same time. I liked that the kids meals had a choice of fries or veggies - that night it was cooked broccoli (done really well actually!) Or raw carrots. Decent beer selection. Servers were really friendly and patient with our kids. The one negative was that the kids didn't get to eat free during our visit even though the menu said they are supposed to be free on Sundays (when we went). read more

What a great find on a quick business trip to Sarnia. The hotel folks raved about it and I totally agree! The food was great and the drinks were strong! Marie is a great bartender and made a Texan feel right at home! Their whole staff were friendly and the atmosphere was upbeat! I sat at the bar and everyone there was having a blast. This is a neat Irish pub at a great location near the water has pretty decent food. The Guinness braised beef is their signature item for good reason. Served in a bowl over mashed potatoes with mushrooms, pearl onions and topped with a couple Yorkshire puddings, it makes for a hearty meal. The interior of the restaurant is pretty neat. Awash in dark wood, tables can be found in every nook and cranny. And there is the additional ability to section off seating areas with curtains, Service was given with a smile and food came out very fast on a Wednesday night. Great spot with many varieties of seating. Easy to have a private chat or watch the game and banter with locals. Bartenders were fun and friendly even though it was busy. Food is awesome! We went the past weekend, we tried the Gouda bombs, a better version of cheese sticks, the wings were very good got hot, honey sauce and hot garlic both were solid. Wife got the fish and chips it 3 nice size pieces of halibut, the coleslaw was a very tasty with mayo and vinegar combo, and she really enjoyed. Decent pub food, large portions with an upbeat fun ambiance. The service can be hit or miss, sometimes good, sometimes not so good. The patio is awesome and they often get surprisingly good bands that go great with the large variety of on tap beer. Bathrooms are large and easy to access but If you've got accessibility issues make sure you sit where you don't have to manoeuvre the stairs to get to them. read more

They said they sold the business, yet the same manager works there. Still, they wouldn't honour my pre-paid gift card. This qualifies as FALSE ADVERTISING AND FRAUD. I'm so disappointed. I like the food and the atmosphere, but they cheated me out of my Pre-Paid Gift Card value. If you have a Paddy Flaherty Gift Card, find another use for it. This place has been on our bucket list for a "date night in Canada" for a long time now. Being here... I am so glad we came. We met our amazing server Carly, who exceeded all of our expectations and beyond. The food was spot on and amazing. Couldn't have asked for any other experience. Came here for dinner. Close to our hotel. Not very busy,got sat quickly. Waitress was good,ordered the poutine and the spicey cauliflower which both we're delicious. This place was amazing! We had the Poutine as a starter appetizer and loved it! It was my wife's first time having this delicious dish and we both really enjoyed it. I had the shepherds pie and she had a Guinness steak stew. Both of which had amazing flavor and perfect for a cold chilly day like the day we were there. Oh my goodness! Absolutely delicious food! Our waitress was delightful and took great care of us, we were greeted and seated quickly, drinks were prompt and our orders were flawless. We shared garlic cheddies (a bit greasy for me, but amazing still). My ceasars side salad was yummy, and my shepherds pie was so, so good. I tried my husband and daughters food - just to be sure it really was good - and yes it was! Hubby had the chicken fingers and waffles with honey, my daughter had fettuccine Alfredo (mmm) and my son demolished his bacon burger (before I could try it). Went here on a busy Friday night, we were waiting for our friends so we sat at the bar. The bartender ended up asking us to find other seats as that was the bands seats (that was playing at the time). Okay, we moved seats and was told again that someone else was sitting there. These are empty chairs with no drinks on the counter and the band had 4-5 members in it taking up most of the bar. We ended up sitting on some weird trunk thing because there was no where else to sit down and order a drink. When we did get a table we found there was no drink specials (OK its a Friday) but the pints of beer were $8 and bottles were $5. These were the most insanely high beer prices I have ever heard from a pub. Even having lived in Vancouver for over two years I have never went anywhere with a $8 pint. I ordered the fish and chips, and when they came they were perfect identical little triangle shaped fishes in very thick batter. It was very clear they came straight from the freezer into the fryer. But when the pint is almost as expensive as the entree I guess you can't expect much. read more

I have to say this was a pleasant surprise. They are handling the restrictions well, quickly adapting to our out of province vaccine cards. The menu had a lot of choice which was great, especially for us travellers who needed to get away from carbs so easily obtained when travelling. My power salad was delicious and I would definitely recommend. My husband burger had a slight hitch which was quickly and efficiently fixed. The service was awesome, good communication and the staff obviously work as a team. I would definitely say this is a great place to eat and the lovely view just makes it all the more reason to do so. Dropped in here again en route to Stratford. Still the same good food, huge portions, and nice atmosphere... though it gets very loud when crowded. Especially if the people are loud. This time, I tried a chicken tikka boxty.... it was.....kinda heavy on sour cream I thought. The chicken tikka was okay but a bit bland, even by "pub" standards I thought. The boxy itself, though, was very good. I think I would suggest getting one of the other flavors and maybe the sour cream on the side... My companion had a special (I think) of grilled fish on a bed of mashed sweet potatoes, and covered with a black bean salsa. ......I personally wasn't fond of it, though the individual components were tasty. She really enjoyed it though, and thought the flavors went together nicely...though she did point out it probably had been under a warming light for a bit. Still, very good overall. The apple pastry for dessert was decent too, though I think the chocolate bread pudding is superior. read more

I've been a patron of Paddy Flaherty's for a number of years and have yet to write a review until now. That is simply because it's much easier to eat a blasé meal and be passive about it when you're drinking your favourite beers. But after my last few dining experiences I decided I had to write a review that reflected my last two months of dining experiences at Paddy's which included multiple visits. First let me start by saying if nothing else, Paddy's remains my favourite drinking establishment in Sarnia to date (due to the wide variety of beers on tap including - and not surprisingly - Guiness and Kilkenny). Unfortunately I can not be as positive about the food. In my last three visits I have ordered a 'DOUBLE-STACKED COD-WICH', a 'LAMB PIE', and a pub classic...'FISH & CHIPS.' VISIT #1: When the 'DOUBLE-STACKED COD-WICH' arrived I immediately noticed it's aesthetics. To be honest, it looked great. Stacked well and a decent amount of care went into presentation. My experience went south after this. With my first bite I immediately noticed a lack of flavour. Each subsequent bite continued to bring one word to my mind. Bland. It's disappointing when the highlight of your dish is the side of coleslaw (which I did enjoy). RATING: 1/5 VISIT #2: This is going to sound repetitive but it's true. When the 'LAMB PIE' arrived I immediately noticed it's aesthetics. There seems to be some care in presentation at this establishment and I DO appreciate that. Let me start here by saying I DID enjoy the Lamb Pie more than the Double-Stacked Cod-Wich. Admittedly it looked better than it tasted, but I could at least taste some spices in the filling. Overall, I still think it could have been seasoned better but pair this with an Ale or a Stout and you would have a decent dining experience. RATING: 3/5 VISIT #3: This is the one that REALLY baffles me the most. When a restaurant that calls itself a PUB can't do 'FISH & CHIPS' properly, I seriously start to re-evaluate what's going on in the kitchen. I was in two weeks ago for their Fish & Chip's special and was very disappointed. The restaurant was only at half capacity when I dined, yet when the fish arrived the batter was uncooked on the inside. Fish & Chips are a staple of any good pub but this made me reconsider ever ordering it again here. RATING: 2/5 Overall, the food produced is usually mediocre at best. They do however provide good entertainment on their live band nights and as mentioned I'm a fan of their beer selection. After my last three visits I will likely cease to dine here for date nights or business meals. NOTE: I have heard the Lamb Shank is good but since I have yet to try it I cannot validate this. Next time I am in for drinks I will put an order in and see if it's true. Stay tuned until then. read more

Great place for beers. A wide variety on tap including dessert beers like Fruli. Food wise there is a variety of bar food including their famous Irish Nachos; waffle fries dressed as nachos. Their curry dishes and pot pies are very worth ordering. Lamb shank is expensive but amazing as well. Staff are all nice and the free shuttle is much appreciated. What a charming pub. Stopped in thanks to Yelp on a business trip down yonder. The sandwich I had was delicious. It has an intimate feel, with many booths and side rooms to occupy. The staff were cheery and helpful, and their food suggestions were great! Situated on the edge of Ontario, watching the goings on at the ship yard, and seeing America across the way was a wonderful little treat that added to our lunch. read more

We visited Superbowl Sunday for a late dinner & were seated quickly in a booth that felt like we were enclosed in a make out booth! Sitting behind a partition that blocked my entire view of the bar, which sits in the middle of the restaurant. My dining partner couldn't see the TV due to a large post between him & the Tv....so, that wasn't the best seat in the house to be sat at for Superbowl. Didn't say anything as we weren't really there for the game but we would have liked to see the half time show. Some people may like the privacy of that booth, but I felt helmed in. It was very evident that our waitress was there because she had to be....not very friendly. She "plopped" stuff on our table & had she returned to check on our meal we would have ordered another round. The food was their saving grace. I had the fish tacos & sweet potato fries & my partner had fish & chips. Both arrived in good time & hot! We both enjoyed our meals. read more

I am really disappointed with this place. The location is great and with the price of the food ($20-$30 a plate) I expected a way better meal. I am not sure how they can call themselves a restaurant because it is certainly not. My Best description of paddy flaherty's is a bar that serves food.
