Third time here and I feel guilty not writing a review. This is a great Irish style pub with all the traditional home type Irish pub food you'd expect. The staff here seem to be a huge selling point on me returning. Being from Alberta I love my beer. These people know their beer. Over 22 on tap this evening, featuring numerous local crafts to choose from. This makes me happy. Supporting large breweries is a thing of the past when you can support real people trying to feed their families. And the added bonus. The beer taste better. I had numerous questions about their draught selection and was promptly brought over a small flight of IPA's. No charge btw. Found one that was a bit different and I was on my way. Now for supper. I've always been a huge fan of the steak much room dish. It's all in a huge Yorkshire pudding. With an added sticky toffee pudding to finish will ensure a good nights sleep. It's homey here. We went to Paddy's as a big group in January while we were in Sarnia for a hockey tournament. There was 35 of us which they split into 3 groups. The kids had their own little "room", which was fantastic. They all got to be together which was the point. The service was excellent, drinks came quick, and so did the food, and it was a busy night. The food was absolutely delicious, a great menu with lots to choose from. It was hard to decide what to eat! The atmosphere is fun, and very welcoming. We had a small incident with some food but the waitress was very quick to fix it. If there had not been a small issue with the food I would give this restaurant a 5 star. They were incredibly hospitable to our big group on a busy Friday night. read more

I went with two co-workers on a Tuesday night. There were only a few staff working that night. They told us that there would be a half-hour wait for a table. We said OK, we'll wait at the bar. Unfortunately, all of the bar stools were full. There were several empty tables, but the bartender wouldn't let us sit at them. I spied a small RESERVED sign at one of the tables. Every time I find myself in the lovely little part of Ontario named Sarnia, I go to Paddy Flaherty's. My grandparents have been taking me here since I was a young kid, and I still never get tired of coming here. Just about everything I've ordered from the menu has been good, and the service is usually very good as well. The pies are all very good, and I typically end up ordering either the chicken one or the seafood one. Additionally, this restaurant has a wonderful outdoor seating area that is very pleasant on beautiful days. read more

The location of this pub is really beautiful and the decor is really nice, but the food was horrible. The menu has a little false advertising, with beautifully decorated dishes that look very fresh. The actual food tasted like stale diner food. At least at a diner you get fresh, hot, cheap food; whereas this seemed like it had been under a heat lamp for hours. It took a very long time for a server to notice us at our table but once we got to order it came fast and was delicious. Avocado and bacon burgers with sweet potato fries drizzled with vinegar. I have been coming here for quite some time, probably better than 15 years. The decor has been awesome from the beginning, and the beer and cider selection is always top notch. So many places try to say that they are an authentic Irish style pub, but fall horribly short; painting your interior green, throwing shamrocks up on the wall and pouring a half-stale Guinness doesn't really cut it in my book. This one, however, actually hits it's mark fairly well, and could almost slip into the Temple Bar district in Dublin (I know, I've been there) with it's ambiance and authentic feel. What sadly varies here is the service and the food. I have had fantastic meals and service here in the past, especially when they used to do their Friday night seafood deals back in the early 2000s, but I sadly can also say I've had several times where both have been less than stellar. Quite frankly, this goes hand-in-hand with whether the restaurant and the bar is busy, which is usually the case on weekend nights and or if there is a band playing. There are some great bartenders and servers who have come and gone, and there's been others that, well.... let's just say it's probably better that they aren't there now. Most of the pub grub is usually pretty good, but I will tell you that the one meal that I consistently try to avoid is the shepherds pie, as I never really know what I'm going to get, or if it's freshly cooked or just warmed up. It's sad that I feel that I have to say that, particularly in what is supposed to be an Irish pub, but it is what it is. In short, I come to Paddy's for the consistently well poured Guinness, Smithwick's and Murphy's, and the consistently good music scene. I've been eyeing this place for quite some time! Visited today for a late lunch with 2 other people. First of all, the interior of the Pub is absolutely beautiful. It has the classic feel of an Irish Pub with lot's of intricate woodwork and stained glass. The interior is neat and well kept, with a great view of the St. Clair River. Our waitress greeted us immediately upon walking in the door. She was so cheery and upbeat, we were immediately impressed. She quickly offered us a table or booth. Before we sat down at a booth, she wiped the table down to make sure it was spotless (it already was, but she went the extra mile). I was pleasantly surprised at the draught beer selection. A lot of nice imports, domestics and craft brews are available including my two favorite: Guiness and Harp Lager. I ordered a 'half and half' which is half a glass of Harp with half a glass of Guiness on top. I have had many Guiness Draught far and wide, but this one was the absolute best Guiness I have ever had. As much as the 'half and half' was delicious, I wished I'd ordered a full pint of Guiness. Sadly, I was the driver, so I had to limit myself to one drink. Next time! Now to the menu. There were lot's and of delicious options to choose and also some things I've never tried including "Chippers' (homemade potato chips) and Garlic Cheddies among other traditional Irish Pub favorites. For appetizers we ordered Thick Cut Calamari and the Garlic Cheddies. We loved both. The Calamari was really fresh and properly fried. I also enjoyed the sweet sauce with it and squeezed a wedge of lemon all over the platter. The Garlic Cheddies came in a round cast iron pan and were little biscuits in garlic and cheese, baked in the oven. We loved these! For our mains I ordered the Lamb Burger with a side of Seafood Chowder. Their seafood chowder tastes like the sea, and it has a great texture to it with generous chunks of seafood. I would definitely order this again. My burger was presented beautifully and simply with a slightly toasted egg bun, big slice of tomato, mixed greens, goat cheese and a thick ground lamb patty. Very well seasoned and tasty. The two other people I was with ordered the Guiness Steak and Mushroom Bowl (with side of Seafood chowder) and the Fish n' Chips. I did try a bite of the Guiness Bowl and I would definitely order this next time. The meat was tender and braised in the Guiness gravy. The mushrooms were juicy and flavorful. I was impressed. We also split a white chocolate cheesecake with Toffee drizzle amongst us. It was decadent, and very sweet, but the texture of the cheesecake was really nice. All in all we were extremely happy with our meals. The waitress was absolutely amazing and a gem to the place. She told us she'd worked there for 20 years. We can see why! She is one of the incredible waitresses I've ever had and an absolute gem to their establishment. We will definitely be back. read more

Great way to break up our homeward journey, the weather was quite bad so we decided to have some dinner and Paddy's caught our eye. The 30 min table wait was really only 10 and the barman was very attentive. He was genuinely happy and friendly. The Kilkenny Cream Ale was a great drink to help after an ever stressful visit with relatives. We had ale cheese dip with fried naan and potato crisps with dips and then we both had the special of a Sunday Dinner Yorkie wrap. Very good, the yorkie could have been fattier but was still good and tasted authentic. Really nice way to relax after driving. Whilst in the restaurant, a snow squall started so Mike recommended the hotel next door which had recently been renovated and he felt excited to promote his hometown. Very lovely man who made us felt welcome and added to our dining experience. We will definitely consider it as a stop when we take this route if time is right. read more

A while back, I had the Shepard's pie. It was delicious but a bit sloppy. I'm used to a firm pie. I will order it again. Last week, I had the fish and chips. The fish was amazing. Can't wait to go back for the fish. Chips were good. Service and outside patio were excellent. The view from patio of Sarnia Bay with the beautiful blue water and sky, all the yachts, and Sarnia waterfront is very scenic. If you like a noisy, sociable pub experience and paying a lot for beer, go to Paddy's on a weekend. A lot of people enjoy it, but I find it too loud to be social with anyone and a lot of their beers cost the same as you would expect to pay for a small meal. They have some delicious menu items and make a decent fish and chips. If you like the party vibe, go on a weekend evening, otherwise do lunch on a weekday. read more

If I ever go back to Paddy Flaherty's, it will be to punish myself. Chicken pie not cooked through and doughy. It took an hour and 20 minutes for our meal to arrive and it was cool t the touch. We went with a group of 8 and had reservations for 8. As Canadians, we were embarrassed that our U.S. family members would get this kind of undercooked food served to them in what is supposed to be a good restaurant. Next month, we'll meet in Michigan where they have people that are eager to serve and get tipped well. read more

Found this place on Yelp. Thanks :-). Food is really good and we have been eating here quite a bit as it's close to the hotel. So far we have tried the burger - yummy, chicken tikka - ok, Reuben- yup!, breakfast poutine, yes it sounds gross and it wasn't all the great but someone had to have it! I've also tried the calamari which is frozen and limp but the house made soup was delish! Overall great service and ambience as well so give it a shot! read more

Last night after visiting my wife's grandmother at the nursing home her family decided to get some food and drinks. We we're seated inside in the turret having a good time. Until I ordered some scotch, when I got it it was contaminated with some poplar seed. I immediately went to the waitress near the bar and asked for another glass. She handed it to the grey haired man bun bar tender guy who did not see me and proceeded to try and fish it out with his finger. Then the waitress told him I was right there watching him. A little horrified he got caught he rinsed out the glass and refilled it. He asked me if I was sitting outside I said no. It was the talk of our table when I got back. And our co-workers thought it was funny but rude. Now every time someone mentions Paddies I tell them they should try the "Finger Scotch". Moral of the story don't send your food or drink back here unless you like finger food. read more

6:15pm Tuesday and the place is full and rocking and we feel this is the right place to be for a bar dinner. We order the Guiness Steak & Kidney pie for $16.00. Unfortunately, we can't stay to eat at the bar, so the server neatly places the meat pie into a to-go plate and we return to our hotel, a couple minutes away. Opening up the container in our room, the aroma of the sauce is as expected: good and inviting. Gravy swarms around the meat pie and mashed potatoes. Cracking into the pastry we are disappointed to find ONLY ONE PIECE OF BEEF, about the size of a Laura Secords chocolate. No kidneys to speak of, and a handful, count 10 mini mushroom heads. Had we been at the bar I would have sent this back, or asked for a refund. Sometimes a production line prepares a number of units with uniform consistency. But when it comes to the end of the run, there may be a few pieces too many, or a few pieces too few. In this case, we were shorted a significant amount of value. This was a disappointing find. I feel ripped off by the chef, who certainly should know better. Shame shame! read more
