There seemed to be a technical difficulty with the website not registering properly so our check in process was a bit lengthy. Overall, the employees were great and told us which direction we could follow. Eventually we ended up just us 2 (separate kayaks) and I'm so glad we brought a portable speaker because we were able to curate the vibes on such a romantic day. We checked in, left an ID, signed their waiver, and then we were off to get life vests and paddles/kayaks. They also rent bikes and paddle boards. (We stuck with kayaking for the day.) the weather was gorgeous and the water and scenery beautiful once we got out. I would recommend taking lunch and picnicking on their many tables or surrounding grass area. Another tip, show your reservation for kayaking to the guard/park entrance official that you booked a trip with VKOC and they will waive the $8 park fee. And then enjoy the beaches and scenery.

We had such a good time, I decided to book them myself for my husband's birthday. Unlike charter boats that have limited capacity, this can have up to 39 guests. We paid $55 per person for four hours at sea. We first cruised around Biscayne Bay, taking in views of downtown and the waterways, until eventually we ended up at a sandbar where they give you rafts and paddle boards to hang out on. You can pay extra for a DJ or even food that they can grill on the boat. We ended up bringing our own food and hooking up our own music; however, the two person crew was so helpful when it came to organizing everything and ensuring we had a good time. Fernanda was very easy to coordinate with! The boat promptly arrived to the Sea Isle Marina downtown at 11:00 am and had us back right at 3:00 pm.

The woman made eye contact with me and knew I was there, but just kept looking at her phone and having a casual conversation with her coworker. It was honestly weird... and frustrating. Then they were very arrogant. They were trying to tell me what size kite and board I should use, even though I've been kiting for years and knew which size I should be on. I ultimately took their advice, but had to come all the way back in to switch to the size I originally wanted. They also don't advertise the true price to rent gear. It said $150 for 3 hours on the website when really you have to pay an additional $40 + tax. The 40 covers "insurance." The real cost was over $200. Then I asked to buy some sunblock and realized at that point I was just getting ripped off. They gave me a tube the size of a chapstick for $20. I asked if there were any other options... nope! That tube lasted me two applications. Next time I will bring my own gear and kite somewhere else. What a shame.

There was an older woman in the group who could not keep up and only after I expressed my concern about her did they double back and help her. Consider checking skill levels of the group, stopping for regular check-ins, perhaps teaching about nature a bit?
