Our experience has been extremely frustrating, with numerous errors, omissions, delays & communication problems throughout a pool project costing us over $100,000 The project has taken approximately six months & unfortunately there have been problems throughout the process. Some of the issues we experienced included: * Mosaics that were supposed to be installed in our pool were forgotten & ultimately unable to be installed. Contractor offered to buy back the mosaics but never did. * The pool stairs were constructed with a drop of more than 17 inches at one end, which became a significant safety concern for us & resulted in extensive discussions regarding how it could be corrected or made safer. Contractor offered to install a safety railing but never did. * At one point, our pool sat for more than a month with virtually no work being performed. * Pool construction materials were left in a manner that blocked access to our garage for approximately two months, creating a major inconvenience while we waited for the project to progress. * Communication throughout the project has been extremely frustrating. There have been numerous occasions when calls or messages were not returned or we were told someone would call & the call never came. Our biggest unresolved issue involves the Ocean Blue Extreme Grip travertine installed around our pool. A substantial portion of the nearly 1400sf of decking developed dark lines/ discoloration that we questioned. We personally observed much of this travertine being installed while it was raining, which added to our concerns regarding the installation. Representatives involved with the decking came to our property &inspected it. During those inspections & discussions, we were told there was an issue with the decking; however, responsibility seemed to be passed back & forth. The installer attributed the problem to the stone/product, while the stone supplier/distributor attributed the problem to the installation. Despite those discussions, Tropicana's current position is that what we are seeing is simply natural veining & color variation in the stone & that there is no defect with either the material or installation. We disagree with that assessment & have extensively documented the condition of the decking. That has been one of the most frustrating parts of this entire experience. As the homeowner, we did not hire the individual installer or purchase the stone directly from the supplier. We contracted with Tropicana Pools for a completed pool project. We should not be left in the middle while the parties involved point responsibility at one another. We have made numerous attempts to reach a reasonable resolution rather than escalate the situation. Tropicana offered us a 5% price reduction along with sealing the decking. We countered with a 10% adjustment, no sealing, keeping the extra travertine already delivered to our property & having the remaining corrections & cleanup completed. Unfortunately, we were unable to reach an agreement. Tropicana is now demanding the final 5% payment & has informed us that it may pursue a Claim of Lien against our property if payment is not made. We dispute that the project has been satisfactorily completed & are pursuing the appropriate formal process to address our concerns. After spending more than $100,000 & nearly 6 months dealing with this project, we never imagined it would end this way. We simply wanted the pool we paid for to be completed properly so that we could finally enjoy it. One thing I am thankful for throughout this project is having exterior security cameras that documented the work performed & interactions that occurred on my property. I would recommend homeowners document their construction projects carefully. I am sharing our experience so other homeowners can ask the right questions & make an informed decision when selecting a pool contractor.

My old pool pump sounded like a bag full of cats going through a wood-chipper whenever it ran. I…read moreknew it was trashed, and needed to be replaced, but I was just too lazy to get around to it. I would much rather go to the smaller local guy instead of the big-box/big overhead/big mark-up guys, so reached out to Seminole Pool Supply, and gave my current motor and pump configuration to Alexis, who advised that they had a matching, rebuilt 1.5 hp pump on-hand for $115. She also told me that they do free bench testing if I were to bring in my old motor, and if it was salvageable then they would rebuild it for $65. Both prices sounded more than fair to me - with new motors running in excess of $350+ - so I yanked my old motor, and drove the 35 miles to Sanford. Totally worth it the effort, as it turns out... Upon arrival, I was greeted by Alexis and her team immediately got to work on the tear-down. But first, a side note about Alexis's eyes. Alexis has eyes of the most amazing blue. And those blue eyes, up close, are a celestial phenomenon: Nebulae as seen through telescopes; the light of unnamed stars diffused through dusts and elements and endlessness. Layers of light. Blue eyes that are like starlight. Sorry for the segue.. Back to the review! The investigation of my pool pump motor revealed that it was seized (I wasn't surprised), and that the motor was beyond economic repair. Bummer, right? Now the cool, customer-oriented part and why I'd MUCH rather go to the local folks: Alexis said that she was mistaken, and that they only had a rebuilt 2.0 hp motor, with no 1.5 hp motors in stock. I internally prepped myself for the inevitable song and dance about the impending up-charge... But Alexis and Seminole Pool Supply would honor the price quoted over the phone. Done deal! Their tech - a tall, good looking (no homo!) dude named Kevin - brought me my new (to me) motor, and passed along some sage advice on connecting it to power. Alexis took my money, and sent me on my way. I got home, connected the power, and everything was all good! My neighbors will like me again without the 100 decibel scream of my old pool pump, my pool can go back into service, and I can crack a beer and look back with pride on a job well done... Their service techs are very young and clearly inexperienced. They caused a yellow/gold stain that runs across the entire bottom of our pool by leaving chemicals sitting at the bottom. The stain appeared the very next day after their service. When my husband tried to brush it, some debris lifted, but the stain remained. When we contacted the company, they denied responsibility and told us to file a warranty claim with our pool builder instead. This company is 100% responsible for the damage to our pool. If you want to protect your investment, I strongly recommend choosing a different service provider.

We had never owned a pool before and Tom taught us what we needed to know. We had a standard chlorine pool system when we purchased our home, after a bit of research and a knowledge share with Tom we decided to change to what we call a salt water pool system. We have had our main pump replaced, large filter and housing replaced, a pressure return connected for our pool robot to name a few. With all this done we have received a Service Invoice sent for the work to be approved, it gives information on what is to be done and the cost. Yes, our service team member has changed over time but, if there is any issue we call the main office let them know and it is corrected if need be. We are notified of any changes to the cleaning schedule, and with the weather here I'm surprised everything runs so smoothly. Having just gone through back to back hurricanes recently our pool was kept balanced so we could use it if need be. I'm am so glad Tom and his team are our Pool Service Company. We were kept informed and up to date on service and chemicals and it was cleaned as soon as it could be. Be realistic about the teams time constraints, our pools are not the only one the team takes care of in a day.

He was immediately helpful and agreed to meet me at my house at my chosen time and gave me a thorough evaluation and answered many questions professionally. I immediately got the impression he was trying to save me money and not waste my money on unneeded items and procedures. Well we hired Dennis Misuraca of Sparklebrite pools and cannot be happier with the final product. Dennis gave us many choices in types of pool finishes and tile options. Additionally he agreed to resurface our pool deck in a color scheme that matched our plan. Once we had chosen tile, Dennis personally installed the tile and grouted it to perfection. We chose Pebble Tech International professional licensed pool finishers for the tropical dark blue finish and it is beyond awesome. I am sitting near my my pool as I write this 5 star recommendation. I am a former USAF Fighter Pilot and currency 777 Captain at a major airline. It should be clear that I demand a higher level of perfection and Dennis Misuraca is the contractor to give you 5 star work. I thank him for his professional service.
