I also enjoyed their cinnamon rolls! --- Paffuto was popping for the Italian Market Festival, but my party of four still managed to find a table. The interior is small and intimate with about five small tables and some counter-window seating. You order at the counter and then get your seasonings (ketchup or hot sauce), silverware, napkins, and water yourself from the side. The servers will bring the food to your table. We ordered the maritozzo (cream bread), cinnamon rolls, sesame bread pudding, home fries, and bacon, egg, and cheese (BEC) panzerotti. (1) Cinnamon roll- Exactly what you'd want from a cinnamon roll. Good frosting-to-bun ratio and gooey inside. It was medium-soft. (2) BEC panzerotti- Crispy perfection filled with gooey eggy goodness. The exterior was unique to me in how well it was fried, while the interior was more standard yummy. The outside is slightly sweet and personally, I think the points were a bit too thick/doughy. One filled two people up! (3) Maritozzo- First time trying, and I was a little sad the bread is just two halves with whipped cream between instead of hollow bread with maximum whipped cream. () Really airy cream and not too sweet. (4) Home fries- Pretty standard good home fries. A little too salty but the perfect crisp without being dry. (5) Sesame bread pudding- It was extremely dense, and the thick sesame glaze made the bites very dry and overly sticky. I personally wouldn't reorder it, but it still tasted high-quality. The wait time was a little long for our food since they were packed during the Italian Market Festival, which was unavoidable. The servers were friendly and quick despite this. Now listen - this is a very subjective review. Yelp rates 2 stars as "could've been better" and I'm going to go with that. Having worked in a place that made panzarottis - I know a good one when I see one. My husband was excited to try here after an IG post he saw so when he got a pepperoni one, I took a bite. Not impressed. However, I decided to give the place a try for myself but get a breakfast one this time. Cooper sharp and scrambled eggs? How could you go wrong? It turns out you can. A cute little spot with good food and super kind staff! Came here for a bite around 1:30 on Sunday, and there was only one other group there. I had a plain panzerotti and a walnut sticky bun, which was a special for the day. The panzerotti was DELISH, and more filling than I expected considering the price and size. I'd skip the walnut sticky bun though - at $7 I thought it was fine but not amazing, and Pops Bun Shop a few blocks away has much better and cheaper sticky buns. Exceptional dinner experience. This was my first time at Paffuto. I really liked what I saw on social media and made a reservation for diner. It exceeded expectations. It's an adorable spot with just a few table tops making the experience intimate. Our server Bridgette is as an absolute doll. Offering great service and wonderful suggestions. The menu is a mix of small plates for sharing and entree portions. We got the mussels. The gravy was so delicious! We also got the beef tartare. It was the best I've ever had. Completely crave worthy and made me wish I had gotten a portion for myself. It was legend. We each got an entee that we shared. I got the paperdelle. The ragu was insanely good. And my friends had the tortellini. The stuffing was surprising and delicious. We definitely will be back as there is were many thing we didn't get to try. Went here for the first time after all my friends raving about this spot. It's in south Philly and has some incredible Italian food and sweet treats like maritozzi and panzorotti. Small little spot with indoor and outdoor dining, but the ambiance isn't the star- the food is. I tried some of their specials for the Italian market festival and it blew me away. I had essentially a meatball parm pizza sandwich. It was a light, airy and bubbly pizza crust filled with melty cheese, freshly crushed tomato sauce with some of the best meatballs I've ever had. You fold it like you would a pizza slice and eat it like a sandwich. So. Damn. Good. So simple but the high quality ingredients really shined through. I also have never had meatballs in public that have ever come close to my Italian grandmothers recipe- but these were very very close which speaks volumes to me. Service was incredible as well. I stumbled in here during one of the most hectic days of the year in the Italian Market area...The Italian Market Festival. I had Paffuto pinned to try for weeks and finally had a shot. It did not disappoint. Walking in the smaller dining room was the perfect setting for small Italian joint. Side bar - they played some great alternative rock which helped with the vibe. Curtis greeted us and gave us a quick rundown of what was still available. He explain all of the options in depth which helps a ton when you aren't sure what to get. We got the plain Panzerotti and Panuozzo. The Panzerotti was salty, hot, and cheesy. With that being said, it was light and airy which made it so delightful to eat. The Panuozzo had a provolone béchamel sauce, Porchetta, and broccoli rabe. It was cheesy, savory, a little bitter, and had plenty of thinly sliced Porchetta. This folded pizza sandwich was the perfect rainy day food. I'd choose Paffuto 10 times out of 10 for some great street style Italian. I can't say enough about how amazing the experience from food, to ambiance, and service was. I think everyone should experience all that Paffuto has to offer. read more

Paffuto!! We kept seeing content from Paffuto and their newly minted brick and mortar restaurant ... and given that we live only a few short blocks away, we had to visit. We stopped in on a Sunday AM over the winter for breakfast. Upon arriving, I was first blown away by how cute the store front is. From the cellar gate with a painted tomato to the animated panzerotti and tomato on the door to the bright colors, it's a showstopper at first glance. Once we entered, the fun vibes didn't stop - the walls are adorned with various food-themed framed photos and other fun decor. I basically want to style my whole house like Paffuto, lol. The inside is pretty small, with a counter to order and to showcase their baked goods and an assortment of tables for eating in. Luckily, there wasn't a huge line at all to order, but we did struggle to find 2 seats to eat at first (but didn't wind up waiting too long). My husband and I were fixated on the panzerotti (basically fried calzones) - I went for the egg and cheese while he opted for egg, cheese, and bacon. OMG, they were so delicious. The exterior was incredibly crispy with just a *touch* of sweetness encrusting the dough, and the eggs and cheese were light and fluffy and creamy, really balancing out the dish. They were paired with some dipping sauce (a hot sauce perhaps?) and ketchup, but I found myself not even needing them since the dish itself was so flavorful. I do want to try more sandwiches and "entrees" from Paffuto, but I would also be content with just reapeting the panzerotti every time - such a delicious meal. We had our eyes on their cinnamon toast crunch bomboloni (filled doughnuts). They were making a new batch when we placed our order, but we reserved one for when they were completed. We had finished our panzerotti before the bomboloni batch were completed so we lingered for a bit, but as soon as the doughnuts were finished, a kind coworker brought them fresh out of the bakery for us - a fantastic service! The bomboloni was a delight - the cinnamon cream was nicely paired with the sticky cinnamon crunch in the icing on the dough, really tasting like the cereal of our childhood. A great sweet treat to finish our already delicious breakfast! The pricing is very reasonable for the quality of food, making it a wonderful experience from start to finish. Pafutto is a welcome addition to Bella Vista, and I can't wait to take visitors here and to try some more of their menu items (and excited for their upcoming dinner service)! read more

10/20/24 totally forgot about this place I walked by when on way to taco heart before. Walked in and asked the guy working if he'd recommended anything and he just mentioned panzerotti, someone else came in and was ready to order I asked what was good and the response I got was the morty, which was what I was considering lol. So got the morty and panzeratti with egg n pepp. I'd say the panzeratti egg and cheese was good and the pepperoni I wish had more lol, but the morty was tasty I forgot to take a pic since I ate it but would go back for that after maybe trying some others. Was nervous to come here given that the lunch menu is only four sandwich options. The seating is pretty limited but cute cafe feel. Started with the ceasar salad which was the highlight of the meal- the broccoli was a great touch. We got the Italian sandwich: the bread was a bit too dense and the components of the sandwich a little thin but the tomatoes were fresh. We also got the beef and cheese sandwich: bread again pretty dense and the beef a bit salty. Should've gotten the drunken meatball as that in the vodka sauce looked much better. Had a solidly good experience at Paffuto this Sunday. The only problem is that it is TOO popular because it's that good! We arrived at 11:15 am and most things were already sold out. Desperately wanted to try their pastries, but alas, we will have to go another time during the week or earlier. We attempted to order a couple of other things that were also sold out. Holy shit. This is the first spot that actually took me back to Italy. That cream in the maritozzi was a dream. The egg and chz panzerotti was soooo crispy...even after it sat in its box until I got home (about 20 minutes). I put it in the oven at 375 for 10 minutes and it was perfect. It came with a house made hot sauce that was fresh af. The strawberry bomboloni was incredible, too. Nothing was soo sickly sweet, flavors were perfection. I had been stalking their instagram for weeks now and finally got to try and now I think it's going to become an unhealthy obsession. Can't wait to try the lunch. read more

I'd been eyeing this place down as it was slowly being built over the last couple months, being right around the corner from my work. The exterior is cute and bright, a stark contrast to the interior -- warm, classic, traditional -- like stepping into a friend's grandmother's home. Dark wood, fresh flowers, little doilies and details. I could see myself having coffee + pastry here once a week at the window bar, watching passersby. You have a selection of snacks to sandwiches to sides to coffee. I got a pepperoni panzerotti and it was truly perfect. The crust was crisp, fluffy, not overly greasy. Insides had the right amount of sauce to cheese to meat. It wasn't sparse, it wasn't overflowing. I tried a couple muffins and they were also surprisingly excellent: caramelized edges and a fine, fluffy crumb. Not too sweet. I could tell there was a high quality chocolate used, and real butter. I don't often memorialize muffins but, this might be a time. I look forward to coming back and eventually trying everything on the menu. This is the best meal I've had in a long time. In a group of four, we split the fritto, broccoli rabe, burst tomatoes, and summer squash and each got an entree and it was the perfect amount of food, coming out to $40 a person. The atmosphere is cozy and casual, and the chefs come out with the food in addition to the server. I was surprised the place wasn't packed with a line out the door, but I'm sure it will be soon given how good everything was.
