Was working in the area & owed a good buddy lunch, so YELP ratings were good, figured we give it a shot. What a great decision!!!!! I ordered the Pork Quesadilla. The guy working told me if it wasn't the best I've had he would buy the next one. I was so looking forward to going back there & telling him he owes me. Driving through and found The Wicked Chef on Yelp. What a great find! It's a sandwich shop in a small strip mall, not a white tablecloth kind of place which was fine with us. We shared the Twisted Chicken sandwich and a Cobb Salad. The sandwich was fabulous; most notably the combination of roasted tomatoes and blue cheese gave the delicious chicken a savory, saucy and rich flavor. I told the chef (he didn't seem wicked to me) that he could put those tomatoes on cardboard and I'd eat them. The salad was fine: lettuces, cukes, tomatoes, croutons and a halved hard boiled egg (requested no onions). Ken's salad dressings. Back to the Sando, it was really good! Wow!!! We ordered takeout for 3 adults. All of us are big eaters. The sandwiches were HUGE! We could not finish even half of the food. We ate half our sandwiches. Tucked away across the road from Steel Fitness, you're buffered from the traffic. Max occupancy is 29 people, so it's not a big place. What IS big is the flavor and the hospitality. We had the OMG (three cheeses and roasted tomatoes) and the Fat Sully (brisket and fried onions) with one side each of beans and coleslaw. We also split the potato pancakes which come with sour cream and homemade applesauce. Next time, I think we might split a sandwich and a salad. First of all, the portion sizes are generous to put it mildly. Show up hungry or ready to share/take leftovers home. Second, the flavors are great. Out of towner's - randomly stopped for dinner. Chef(assuming owner) and staff were super friendly. Helped us with the menu. We were really hungry after a long hike. Food was really good, portions are really good and the price is really fair for the amount of food. I liked everything. I personally like thicker bbq sauce than the juice they provided. It was good but not my style. Not sure if that is something you have to ask for but for my taste it would have made the experience just that much better. Regardless- a great find in your town. What a great find! Everything was very fresh and the chef himself came out to check on all the customers dining in to see how we liked the food. Apparently most things are made inhouse (including their pickles and chips) and that definitely shined through their food! Portions are huge and the hand cut and fried chips that come with the sandwiches are like crack...you can't stop eating them! Even though this place is a bit out of the way for me, I have been there 4 times in the past month. The food is studpendous, and very reasonably priced. Everything is made from scratch... John even stuffs his own Kielbasi. My favorite dish is the Potato pancakes (3 GIANT ones for 6.95), seriously the best I have ever tasted (Sorry mom!). And the homemade applesauce increased the level of enjoyment. The Blackened Prime Rib Sandwich (12.95) was similarly awesome...Blackened prime rib served with balsamic roasted tomatoes, arugula, fried onions, on a ciabatta roll with an apricot sour cream spread on it. The German Potato salad had larger pieces of potato in it than usual, but the taste was exactly like I remember my great-grandmother serving us in Germany. Absolutely the best German Potato salad I have had in the US. The Smoked Chicken Wings (10.95) tossed with a sweet and spicy jalapeno plum sticky glaze, and the Gobbler (9.95) fresh ground turkey mixed with smoked gouda and roasted red peppers on a brioche with mayo, arugula, and Roma tomatoes are also among my favorites. I have had a couple of dishes that were merely good, in my opinion, but that is the worst I can say. The chef is pleasant to talk to and always accomodating. This place is a true hidden gem. My friend and I tried this place for the 1st time mid-day on a Sunday. The place is nice and clean, and the sandwiches were delicious and huge! A nice variety of thick meaty sandwiches as well as some vegetarian dishes like mac & cheese. I'm lookin forward to going back and trying some of the other items on the menu. My husband and I ate at Wicked chef twice, I ordered the Poban both times, the first time was my favorite! The first time I ordered this it was great, very well balanced of pork to sauerkraut. The second time I ordered it I didn't even taste the sauerkraut,.....I love sauerkraut and their sauerkraut is awesome, so really wanted a better balance. Also the last time I was there I asked for extra Russian dressing on the side, it is awesome and definitely homemade but I was charged $1.99 for extra sauce! Both of us loved the sandwiches. Good portions but not heavy at all. Reasonably priced. One of the best delis we experienced in this area.
