Yes, it should have been my responsibility to update the office with insurance information, but their so called "courtesy" of reviewing patient files and proactively working with patients is non-existent and they will defend their stance tooth-and-nail. Eventually, their office told me they would waive the fees because it was their fault for waiting so long to bill. They said their agreement with the surgeon was that if he wanted more x-rays, he waived the fee. Due to their delay, the x-ray bill from his office went through first. They told me that the charges were being removed, and the matter was settled. Here it is, 2.5 years later, and they are now billing me, claiming I have to pay for the exam. My insurance should have covered this at 100%. I haven't worked for that employer or had that insurance for 18 months. I am paying them to get them to go away.
