The Inn was stunning, we loved the design. When we arrived there were two employees in an argument and didn't see us. After we checked in, went to our room, we came back down to get dinner and the two staff were arguing again, it was a bit awkward to say the least. The staff the rest of our stay was very friendly, helpful and polite. The walkway to the private beach was great. We enjoyed our time at sunset listening to waves and birds. The restaurant has been closed for a while. There were no thermostats in the rooms, at night it gets pretty hot with the doors closed and no way to cool off, even with the fan. I couldn't sleep well the 4 nights we stayed. That's the only reason for the 3 star rating. The walls are soundproof, the windows are not. The locals cruise the Main Street at night with their music, hooting and having fun- I didn't mind, but if you're a light sleeper. read more

The first 2 reviews are completely false and set up! I received a text yesterday asking for our arrival time, 6pm I respond. They have only 1 woman work here she takes us to our room . The room is so HOT and humid!! There is a tiny noisy Ac in bedroom and a tiny Ac in the bathroom . My question is why wasn't it turned on prior to our arrival. I am staying here right now and just woke up in a horrible, noisy room. We called front desk 4 times last night, no answer. My husband walks over asking where is the Ice Maker!!! NO ICE Machine! NO BOTTLED WATER! Like other reviews there is no restaurant and it is NOT being remodeled as their website states!! It has been abandoned. 3 parking spots! No bottled water, no food or snacks to buy. Perfect inn nestled in a quiet-ish area of Maui. The front desk situation is easy to find. Upon arrival, the receptionist wasn't very helpful. But the later shift receptionist offered great recommendations and assistance. We would have definitely paid extra for a little more space, had we been educated on the difference. The waterfront space at the back of the property is so private and perfect. The restaurant was also so amazing. I would definitely return now knowing what I do. I am very confused about how this place could receive good reviews. This place is very dirty and run down. The website is far from an accurate representation. Their restaurant was closed/looked abandoned and we had to walk through a dimly lit, cluttered walkway to get to our sub standard room (that cost $800/night). Parking is also extremely limited with only 3 spots in front of hotel. We parked in the overflow lot down the street where the homeless also slept. The whole property looks like it's been forgotten. I'm a local, I live in Honolulu and I have family in Maui. I am well aware of what things cost and what to expect. I often do staycations on other islands. First off, you will be charged up front (when you book). This should have been my first red flag. Other places will hold your reservation and charge you upon check-out. Second, there is a 30-day cancellation policy. Once I arrived, I was stuck. I was so unhappy with my $900+/night room that I left early and took a loss. They still charged me for my entire stay, even though I checked out. I don't want to list every undesirable feature about this place. Despite the dirtiness and run down facility, the staff was friendly. They have an excellent website and pictures posted. In my humble opinion, that is not what I received. read more

This place is a joke. We booked it because our flight was delayed and this was closest to the airport. We payed 650 bucks to basically just sleep there a few hours. I was excited for the private beach and when we went to ask for beach towels, they said they had 1 towel. What? We just payed 650 dollars... and you cannot give us 2 towels?! The rooms are muggy and there are more bugs on this side of the island so be ready for that. There is a nice restaurant nearby to the hotel for breakfast, but I did not try the actual hotel restaurant (prices were ridiculous). read more

$1884.00 for actually staying one night. Our flight out was a red eye. Totally fine paying for a night we did not sleep there - so we could shower, etc. The women that work front desk are top notch professionals. It's a small funky place. Con's about our 2 queen bed suite room. Bedrooms are very small- no room for luggage in the room. Used small living are with daybed to place luggage. Website is deceptive on the "luxury" aspect. Grounds need work, Duvet had holes, some cheap pillows mixed in with a couple of good ones, half the blinds are broken to close them the right way at night, no ventilation in bathroom other than window in shower, curtain torn. For just shy of a $1000 a night. Not worth it. Women who work front desk are absolutely top notch. Kind and Informative. Something is just off with the owner. Would not stay again.there. Maybe out of town a bit. Value is just not there. Plenty of other places to stay on Maui. Drives are short from one side to the other on the island. By far, Outrigger is the best example of quality, cultural education, gorgeous grounds, peaceful and high walk ability score and top notch staff. There was a sushi restaurant there at Paia the week before we stayed there. Mysteriously left Paia Inn during the night and left stinky fish garbage in the bin that you could smell . The view from the backyard is very pretty. Beach access is rocky - is a small cliff with a rope. Not for kids, elderly or disabled. Paia is noisy with local kids on Friday/Saturday nights. Young people out with big tired trucks and booming bases. Shops close the doors at 6pm. Homeless sleep on some shop stoops at night and in the morning. Nothing security can do about it unless owner wants them to. It was not my favorite beach town. Paia Fish Market restaurant is good . Maui Baked in Haiku is great! General Store restaurant across from glass blowing studio up Baldwin is FANTASTIC. Top quality, innovative menu with fresh ingredients. Highly recommend. We had a gross badly stained mattress, mold on the ceiling, damaged coffee maker, and dirty sinks and walls. Our $900/night room was nowhere near the luxury boutique hotel experience promised. The pictures on the website may be from the remodel years ago as the room did not match our expectations. Upkeep is unreasonably poor; this hotel needs significantly higher spending on cleaning and maintenance. Not recommended in its current condition. read more

The Paia Inn is right on the beach - although the beach disappears during high tide. About a half mile down the street is a lovely, perfect Hawaii beach you can enjoy and staying at the town is a way to see a quieter side of Maui away from the resorts. The bigger frustration was the noisy air conditioning and the kitchen/living room that could have been better stocked/furnished. There was no saucepan so every liquid had to be cooked in a large pasta pan. Serving bowls were minimal - we made salad in a cake pan - and there were no TV trays near the sofa to put a drink or food on - we put them on the sofa between us. The toaster oven was from 1980 at best and we joked about how long it took to toast an English muffin every morning. This would have been fine if we weren't spending almost $1000 a night. For that price, I expect better. read more

Pictures on website are deceiving. This is not plush or fancy. Stayed in the 2BR room. Decent amount of room for basically somewhere to sleep. Beds were OK, toiletries were wonderful. There are ants in the kitchen so make sure all food is in refrigerator. It is not safe to swim on the Inn's beach, a lot of rocks. Might be better down the beach a way but rolling waves aren't safe for kids. All in all not worth the money for a place to sleep in a town with mostly tourist-y shops. read more

Honestly, this is about double the cost of other places around. You pay for the hipster vibe, location and proximity to both beach and local shops. Paia is one of the coolest beach towns I've stayed, so what the heck. The bed was a full and felt extra firm like a futon. My hubs loved it. For me, a bit too firm. Although the room was small, it had a communal living room right outside our door with unlimited espresso bar, teas, and they keep everything clean and picked up. Our room fees included parking, beach chairs and towels. Since we really wanted to enjoy the beach town, this was a perfect choice for us. It is right across from Paia Fish Market and Nextdoor to delicious "pizzaria"/flatbread, along with a host of gift shops, Hawaiian ice, gelato, live music, just to name a few. I'm happy we did it, although it was pricey -- it was worth it for the experience this time. read more

For the right traveler, this is a great option. It is a little more dated than recent photos indicate, but the low key vibe is truly special. We even had a neighborhood cat visit our lanai each morning to say hello! Our one bedroom unit had a kitchen, living area, and large lanai - all of which were great. The areas were clean and inviting, although the windows were really dirty so the view was impaired. The kitchen was short a few utensils (only one teaspoon, as an example) and needs to be restocked. Also - We could not get local news on the TV, I don't think they had cable (although they had streaming services). We aways enjoy hearing about local events and news so this was a negative. read more

We had an early check-in at noon (instead of 3PM), thanks to Nina, one of the best hotel staff members we have ever encountered. She personally showed us the private beach access and made sure we were happy with our stay. She also answered all of our questions regarding nearby activities. LOVED her. We opted for a Junior Suite, room #10, a beautiful beach bungalow room with modern amenities and Hawaiian accents. Very cool, distinctive place to stay near the Maui airport in Kahului. First of all, just be aware that this is probably not the place you want to make home base for a week-long trip to Maui or anything. It makes an excellent lodge for one or two nights while you explore Paia, Haiku, and possibly the Road to Hana. But it's a small property and the rooms in the Inn itself are pretty tight. (They also act as a leasing agent for some beach homes on the back side of the Inn, which would probably be better for longer stays.) I stayed here my first night on Maui since it was close to the airport (about ten minutes away) and also about ten minutes from Mama's Fish House down the road. The Inn rooms are on the second floor around a common area with computer and couches. They're small, but very well thought-out, with comfortable beds, a mini fridge, dresser with several drawers, ceiling fan, glassware, and a white noise machine. Counter space is tight for toiletries, but the shower is an adequate size. The room has a great Hawaiian feel and rooms overlook the charming main block of Paia. There are six parking spaces out back (three tandem pairs) and more parking a short distance away. I never had trouble accessing a spot. I'll let you in on a little discovery I made--there's a rooftop area one level up from the guest rooms that has stunning sunrise views. I woke up early since my body clock was all confused and went exploring and found the stairs up to the top. From there, you can see Haleakala, the West Maui mountains, the ocean, and the town and watch the sun gradually light all of them. It was one of the magic moments of the trip. Across the street is the Paia Fish Market, where you should have lunch and get one of their charbroiled fish selections with the Cajun rice. It's a fun spot. Mana Foods is also neat to check out, and the galleries across from the Inn are also worth a stop. The staff members at the Inn are all wonderful and make you feel welcome and valued. read more

I could write a novel detailing all the things I loved about Paia Inn. I've never stayed somewhere so special, and I've never felt more heartbroken to leave a place. When I said I was going to Maui and spending 5 of my 6 nights in Paia, everyone looked at me like I was crazy. "Five nights in Paia? Oh you won't need that much time. One, maybe two is plenty." NO. Don't listen to these people! If you're coming through Paia on a power tour and want to cram in seeing as much of the island as possible, sure, you can "see" Paia in a day. But instead, I'd encourage you to book a lengthy stay at the Paia Inn to really experience the magic of this place instead of just checking it off your list. I wasn't bored for a minute of my stay and it was truly the most relaxing, magical vacation I've ever had. Every detail of Paia Inn is thoughtful: the hand crafted teak furniture in the rooms, the mirrors in the beach walk, the way the lights chosen for the breezeway clink together like wind chimes. Michael, the owner, has put so much care into the guest experience. When I was there, he was surveying various widths of wood strips to decorate a wall and deeply debating if they should be the same width all the way down or if it made more sense to the eye to have slightly wider pieces at the bottom? I mean, wow. I'm serious when I tell you every inch of this place has been carefully curated. I had the pleasure of staying in one of the short term stay accommodations, which came with its own little patio. I didn't even want to leave my patio for the beach-- until I saw the beach. The experience of walking through this little maze, not sure what you'll find, then emerging to this bursting vista of impossibly teal water and graham cracker sand. The Inn has beach towels and chairs for guests, so I set up on the beach under a palm tree (and pinched myself to make sure this was real life). The beach is nearly empty since it's private access, so it was mostly just me, and the two locals next door who came out every evening to fish. It was So. Peaceful. The beach was also a favorite spot for massive sea turtles. Surreal: Me and my book, ten yards away from two incredible sea turtles, all just hanging out together in the most beautiful place on earth. Watching the sun dip behind the west Maui mountains each night, I was so grateful for the beauty each day brought. I genuinely can't wait until I have another vacation so I can return to what feels like home. read more

What a lovely hotel! I can't say enough good about this place. It's charming and offers a lot of conveniences such as a hot/cold water dispenser near the coffee station and wonderfully smelling, full sized bottles of health and beauty products. But the best thing about this hotel is the staff. Everyone I interacted with, especially Melody and GM Chuy were kindness personified. I felt like a person, not a number. I enjoyed it while it lasted. My husband had to attend a conference so we moved to the Grand Wailea. I wish I could say we got good service there but they could take lessons from the folks at Paia Inn. I hope to return. read more

The boutique inn was adorable and cute. Friendly staff and in a great location literally steps from their own private entrance to the beach and right in the heart of paia. BUT...not worth the price. The rooms are tiny, equivalent to my small bedroom at home. Free Beach rental equipment was not clean. Private beach access is great and all, but there's so many better beaches. It's a 3 star inn to put it plainly. Anywhere else you'd pay half the price. For about just $100 more we got a full suite 5x the size, a pool, and many other amenities when we stayed in Wailea. Unless you need to be in downtown paia, suggest staying elsewhere. read more

Wow! We booked a night here last minute so we could explore Paia before our flight the next day, and I could not be happier that we did. There was some traffic on the way in, but the inn has some specially reserved parking spaces that helped streamline the check-in process. We arrived a couple hours early but were able to check-in with no problem! Paia Inn is like no other hotel i've stayed at before- there are apparently only a few (10?) rooms and the interior is a very hip setup. there's a communal space with a fridge and coffee, and an upstairs "lounge" area. There are a few bathrooms spread out and couches everywhere, and the space seems very clean. Our room was small but had space for our 2 suitcases and a few other bags. We were especially impressed by the fully tiled bathroom! but this may have been influenced by our unfortunate experience at our previous BnB guests are charged a nightly $15 amenity fee which we were initially annoyed by, but we actually ended up being really happy with the beach access provided through the hotel! there's a really nice space that connects directly to the beach, and we were able to eat a really peaceful dinner by the ocean. we even saw a couple of turtles close up, which was a highlight!! i'm so glad we booked a room here. I don't think it would be a good "base" for a longer vacation, but it's the perfect place to spend a couple days while you're in maui. be sure to stop by the paia fish market down the road! read more

Charming hotel in downtown Paia! Beware all restaurants and the gas station Minit Stop close at 9 so plan for an earlier arrival or bring your own food for late night snacking. Only a $20-30 cab ride to this beautiful beach town with the hotel having direct access to beach with a gorgeous beach lounge! 1 minute walk to delicious food and they have an on site sushi restaurant. Adorable swimsuits and nice gifts in lobby. Their beach house is so beautiful also, we will plan in that next time! We stayed at the Paia Inn after a few days at the Sheraton at Kaanapali. We definitely got a more local vibe and charm staying in this town. A great starting point for Road to Hana. The hotel itself is pretty bare bones in regards to the layout and the rooms. We stayed in 2 city rooms, 2 and 4. Room 2 is super small and faces the main Hana Highway street so you definitely get the street noise (though it's not too bad, it's a small town, not Manhattan). Room 4 is much bigger and has a separate sitting room. There's apple tvs and cable in the rooms though our apple tv in room 2 didn't work. There's a small beach near by the property, maybe a 3-4 minute walk and was super cool. The restaurant wasn't open when we were there so no comment there. But the Paia Fish House is nearby and is awesome. Mana foods is close by for market goods. The front desk staff are very helpful and can lend you a picnic basket for the road to Hana. There's coffee and tea in the morning, though the coffee isn't always refilled. It's a bit pricey, especially as the rooms themselves are a bit worn down (some moldy looking spots in the bathroom). There was a random tripadvisor review posted on the wall in Room 4 (why do i need to see a review, since i'm already there?). But the beds themselves and linens are super comfortable, way more comfortable than at the Sheraton. There's a mini fridge in each room with expensive waters. I would definitely come stay again. It's probably one of the only spots to stay in Paia, and most likely the nicest. There's plenty to do around there and the front desk can give you good recommendations. My mom and I stayed at Paia Inn for two nights and absolutely loved it! Initially we had a smaller room booked but I guess because of the ongoing construction and noise, they upgraded us to a bigger room so that we wouldn't have to deal with the noise. The room was amazing. Very clean and modern, updated and stylish. I loved the bathroom. The room comes with a kitchenette so you can cook if you want to. The staffs are very nice and they showed us around the property, explained and left us a note in the room with a bottle of white wine. You have a private access to the beach in the back and they have all the beach gears for you. They have a parking lot located near the hotel literally like 15 steps away. It if a little pricier and all but I think this place beats anywhere else around. read more

The best Customer Service my husband and I have ever had. We arrived with one of my favorite bottles of wine in our room with a welcome note. We got a bigger room on the street and it was very nice. Very comfortable bed, cute decor. My only complaint was the street noise that woke me up in the night. I'm a very light sleeper but my husband never heard the noise. We plan on coming back and getting a room closer to the beach. But again the ladies that work there are beyond kind, genuine and very down to earth. We can't wait to come back next year. read more

This cute little hotel is in a great location. I loved starting my morning by walking down the little private bath to the beach where I could sit and watch the ocean and drink my coffee. What keeps me from giving it 5 stars was that I found the front desk staff to be a bit cool, and there really weren't any vegan options at the onsite restaurant or good mocktails either. It didn't feel like the staff was interested in trying to accommodate us on these. However the location was ideal and it met our needs for our stay. read more
