The rooms were clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the staff was consistently friendly and welcoming. We didn't use the pool, but the area looked well-kept and inviting. A huge bonus was the free washer and dryer on every floor--definitely an A+ perk. Highly recommend for anyone who plans to be out and about and wants a comfortable, well-located place to stay.

We checked into our first room and pretty quickly noticed a couple bugs -- not thrilling, but honestly pretty standard for Hawaii, just part of the tropical experience. On top of that the shower curtain was way too short -- water spraying all over the bathroom floor every single shower. We brought it up to the front desk and they were great about it, upgraded us to an ocean view room without any hassle. New room had shower doors, no water issues, no bugs, and the view was stunning -- ended up being a solid win. The ocean view room was a great upgrade all around. Fridge held steady around 39°F and worked perfectly -- good to know if you're grabbing groceries since the first room's smart fridge was reading 42°F but things were somehow getting half frozen. WiFi is available but unsecured, just a heads up. Beyond the room situation -- lots of good stuff. Free parking, free shuttle within 3 miles, early check-in no problem, Keurig in the room, washer and dryer on every floor with detergent pods already provided, ice machine right there in the laundry room. Two pools (saline and chlorine), fire torches around the pool at night, live music nightly -- we missed it due to rain but it looked like a great setup. Front desk and hospitality staff were genuinely warm the entire stay. Two restaurants on property which was super convenient. Kihei Caffé was the breakfast spot -- chicken and waffles, loco moco, solid classics, kids were happy and portions are generous. Miso Phat Sushi was just okay -- decent food, great service, but nothing that really wowed us. Bottom line -- staff saved the day more than once and the location is unbeatable. Just request a room with shower doors from the start!

In comparison to some other brands such as Aman, Four Seasons Maui felt below average given its price point. The resort itself felt small and a bit old. The service felt very below average and inconsistent. One employee would tell you the sun umbrellas at the pools near the bushes are not adjustable while literally 2 mins later another employee came and adjusted the sun umbrella next to me and also mine when I asked. When we went to the adult pool we were told by one employee that we needed to be on a waitlist. After 3 hours when we finally got notified that it was our turn and went back we noticed other guests just literally went and grabbed empty benches and staffs were just setting the benches up for them(no, they didn't even know there was a waitlist)... Our canoe experience at the last day of our stay got canceled due to high wind and the concierge never notified us etc. Many employees gave me the vibe that they don't really care. They just gave me fake smiles and robotic responses. Maybe Amond would take better care of us...if he is still alive... The view was very amazing. We even spotted whales many times.

We absolutely loved our stay at Grand Wailea. We were upgraded for free to an oceanfront view,…read morewhich made the trip feel extra special. Our room was clean, comfortable, and very nice, and every staff member we interacted with was friendly and hardworking. We explored many other hotels while we were on Maui, and honestly, none of them compared to Grand Wailea. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, expansive, and classic. I don't agree with the reviews saying it feels run down. It isn't ultra-modern, but it has a grand, timeless, classic resort feel. The beach out front is amazing. We explored a lot of beaches on Maui, and I never found one I liked better than the beach at Grand Wailea. The resort itself also feels unmatched in size and beauty. No other hotel we saw had the same expansive grounds, pools, landscaping, and overall resort feel. That said, the biggest downside was how much everything felt overpriced. I understand Maui and luxury resorts are expensive, but Grand Wailea sometimes felt like it was nickel-and-diming guests. Valet parking is $75 per day, and when you add in tipping every time you retrieve a rental car, it gets frustrating fast. On Saturday and Sunday evenings, valet was also very slow. One night we waited over 25 minutes. The valet staff were clearly working hard, but they seemed understaffed for the volume of guests. The food pricing was also hard to justify. At the marketplace/counter-service options, we saw coffee for $7.50, hot dogs for $26, hamburgers for $32, and 12-inch pizzas around $30. You also often have to wait in a long line, and if one person is making coffee drinks, it slows the entire line down. Olivine looks beautiful, but the prices were extremely high, including a personal sausage pizza for $38. Considering the mixed reviews, we could not justify eating there. While we were there for over a week, the resort restaurants looked quite empty every day. I truly think if the restaurant prices were even 30% lower, many more guests would stay on property to eat instead of walking across the street to places like Manoli's or Island Gourmet. The pool area was beautiful, and we appreciated little touches like seeing free pineapple passed out at the pool one day. The idea was nice, although the execution could have been better since the server was putting wet pineapple chunks directly into people's hands. We also wish the waterslides stayed open later, especially for families. Grand Wailea does offer free Nespresso coffee in the room, which is nice, but after seeing one too many social media videos about people misusing hotel coffee makers, I personally can't bring myself to use in-room hotel coffee machines anymore. One extra service I would gladly pay for is a paid hospitality suite or shower room option for guests with late flights. So many flights out of Hawaii leave late at night, and after checking out in the morning, it would be incredibly helpful to have a clean, comfortable place to shower and freshen up before heading to the airport. Overall, we loved Grand Wailea and would absolutely recommend it. The staff, room, beach, pools, and grounds were wonderful. I don't understand all the bad reviews because our experience was very positive. The resort is beautiful and memorable. My only real complaint is that the food, coffee, parking, and extras are priced so high that it pushes guests away from spending money on property. Full restaurants would be more profitable than beautiful restaurants sitting empty.

Front desk staff had an awful attitude when we asked questions and /or say hello, good morning etc. SPECIALLY THE TALL WOMAN WITH LONG HAIR (a local) you could tell she hated every guest. Everyone who's not from the island. We had no other choice lady! our company sent us there. we went there to work not to stay there forever. Also the other local women working in the front desk were very Apathetic/rude. In contrast the other staff who weren't locals were very polite and welcoming. 2). Rooms. The carpet is extremely filthy (wear flip flops otherwise your feet will be pitch black from the dirt ) our room was cleaned very late in the afternoon almost every day. Some days it was cleaned very well in the morning but when it was done in the afternoon, it wasn't clean well. No kitchen counters were cleaned, rug was not vacuumed and the shower had dirt on it, PUBIC HAIR! And on the sink counter as well. Very gross. Also the bed wasn't even made properly. 3). Noise! Walls are very thin. We could hear people screaming, laughing, slamming doors you name it! The good: The staff in the restaurant area were very lovely. The breakfast buffet was pretty good To the ladies or managers or whoever is putting a blind eye on how front desk staff is treating guests, you don't have the right to be disrespectful. If you can't stand/tolerate people who's not from your community, don't work on hospitality. Don't work for the industry that's bringing /welcoming people from all over the world. There's more to learn and see beyond your island. We come from a country/community that respects other people, cultures and will welcome you with open arms and respect. Don't hate us. Instead, focus your energy towards organizing and fighting the rich and powerful who are the real villains for taking away your land.

Plenty of restaurants on site. Self parking is free and plenty so valet isn't necessary. My advice is to call the concierge before you arrive and book the complementary canoe ride as it gets filled fast. I called them from LA 2 weeks before arriving and got the last spot. If you're a couple and you are there for more than two days you'll appreciate the ability of the early riser to get up, make some coffee and hang on the lanai without disturbing the one of you who likes to sleep in. The bathroom was large and luxurious and supplied with really nice Le Labo soaps, shampoos and lotions. In addition, the property is immaculate and the public spaces are beautiful. There are three attractive pools -- one of which is adult only and there's a beach with attended lounge chairs at the bottom edge of the property. Our stay included the breakfast buffet, which had a wide assortment of choices that were nicely prepared. A downside of the hotel is that they host a number of corporate events and it can sometimes feel a bit crowded. Many mornings during our stay, there was a good size line at the host's station to be seated for breakfast. And once we were seated, navigating the buffet stations was a bit hectic. Similarly, the lounge chairs on the beach are within inches of each other. When sitting on your lanai, the music from one corporate cocktail event or another provides the soundtrack for the evenings. And one final nit -- the Nespresso capsules in the room were very nice, but the coffee served at breakfast was abysmal. So don't get me wrong. This is a very nice place and we had an enjoyable stay. But if you're sensitive to having your own space most of the time, this might not work for you.
