Located in the heart of Kakaako, Paiko is a fun different experience to get crafty and go home with something unique. We came to check out their terrarrium bar. You can do everything from picking your own vessel, plant and all the fillers to make your terrarrium. The lady working there was very helpful explaining the plants and how to care for them. This is such a neat and environmentally friendly place! There is beauty in different plants, not just the hibiscus. Parking along the street seemed easy enough, but I'm not sure during peak hours. Sure, the price can add up depending on what you pick to add into your project, but it doesn't have to be outrageous. Definitely check it out. read more

Super cool new plant/flower boutique in Kaka'ako! I noticed that this had opened recently near my office and decided to stop in one day after lunch. I was pleased to see that Paiko offered not only cute, office-friendly plants like succulents, in a number of different arrangements, but also that most -- if not all -- of their offerings were local in origin. Everything was reasonably priced, too: I got a really beautiful reddish-green succulent in a ceramic bowl to take back to my office for only $12! These will be great as gifts. And the staff were really, really nice. It's so nice to have a "florist" in the neighborhood (though Paiko seems to be more about making eco-friendly choices, so it's not your bouquet-of-roses type of flower shop). I'll definitely be stopping in every once in a while, just to see what's available! read more

Gem! Enjoyed browsing this lovely store. Didn't know what to expect but was greeted by Leah (she only works on Sundays) who enthusiastically showed us around and educated us on the different succulents/air plants. Leah walked us through the DIY bar and was patient throughout. We really enjoyed putting together our own arrangement. Paiko is basically the Yogurtland of succulents. The only difference being that Yogurtland isnt really relevant anymore :| Basically you choose a pot, plant, soil, and decorations and puttem all together and try to make it look like the kinds in the books. Its a good gift for significant others or mothers or anyone who likes baby cacti. The pots are kind of on the pricey side I thought but they all seem island made so thats probably why. read more

Normally I pick plants from around my neighborhood or on hikes. The upside to this is that it's free; the downside: You have to carry scissors/shears, a collection sack of some sort and make an attempt to appear non-conspicuous tugging at someone's landscaping. Also, there's a lot of little bugs and ants in nature so that's bothersome too since the last thing I want is more insects in my house. Anyway, there's a sufficient selection of clean and healthy plants, including native Hawaiian foliage - flowers, fronds, leaves, etc. For about $14 I walked away with a good number of things and I'm pleased with the variety and the ecletic, Hawaiian-y look it gives a living space. If you you're feeling creative, go to Arvo and let your creativity works its magic. Went here to pick up plants but ended up creating a terrarium. They have all the supplies you need to creat something for your home or for gifts. The downside is that the plants are very very pricey. You can get the similar plants at lowes for half the price. But if you're a beginner, go there and get an idea from the people that works there and then create something with cheaper materials you can find somewhere else. read more

Really cute floral and succulent shop in a hip and upcoming part of Kakaako. Nestled between R&D coffee shop and Taste restaurant, it is in a prime location. It is also featured at the Kakaako Night Market. They have really unique vases that you probably won't find at any other florist in Hawaii. I also love their succulent gardens and terrariums which vary in price from $8 - $100. They even sell local vegetable and fruit seeds and cat and dog grass that you can grow on your own. They always make sure to have unique and exotic flowers like peonies and different types of gingers, it's a surprise everytime I go! This is a cute little plant store (as I like to call it). They have the usual plant products to help you start a garden but what I love most is how they make the plants into art. My favorite are the little terrarium things, not only are they cute, but they're like mini eco-systems! I just think they're cool :) The plants and flowers here are a bit more on the exotic side but the lady that runs the place is always so friendly and ready to give you any advice about growing plants. They sometimes have workshops where you can learn how to make "plant art". I never been to one but I really want to. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, plant wise, this is the place to go. read more

Super cute! Came here for breakfast with a friend. We had the salmon toast and avocado toast. The atmosphere is very unique, walking down the street towards Paiko felt like LA! The toast was a lot smaller than it appears in the pictures, but it was good. There are a few tables outside, I hope they add more seating inside(it was really hot outside) as this place becomes more popular. We had to share the table with another couple because there were no spots left. Overall, stop by for some coffee if you'e in the area, but don't plan an actual breakfast/lunch date here, not the right place for a sit down meal. They also sell art & flea type of stuff lie succulents, I'm pretty sure theres a station to build your own succulent home. read more

I am in love with this shop. We went to check it out during the night market and I had so much fun! I'm in love with the staghorn ferns. I need them for my wall in my office. It's a build your own terrarium/home for air plants and succulents. They also have local artist items like pottery. There is a coffee/tea bar as well. I was happy to see macramé plant hangers - I love these things. My friend purchased a cute vase and air plant for her office. I'm looking forward to returning to the store within the next 30 days to pick up items for my office too. read more

My wife loves this place and we now have a random white cactus like pottery thing in our home which of all the souvenirs you can purchase in Hawaii, she chose that. Absolutely adore this tiny oasis of calm and serenity on Auahi Street. I think it's the only botanical boutique we have in Honolulu, where you can go in and select a beautiful plant and put it in a container of your own choice. Complete with rocks and soil and accessories that you've chosen. I've attended classes here that are informative and a lot of fun. The last class I attended was a terrarium making class with about seven other happy participants. We put in layers of soil, sand, charcoal topped off with pretty colored stones, tiny animal figurines and a selection of pretty green plants. Also have a nice selection of cacti and succulents. Courtney one of the owners always has other items to tempt you. Unusual glass pieces, hand woven baskets, Wek jars with displays of how to put things together in a sophisticated and eye pleasing manner. Sure sometimes the plants die. But you can go back and they will help you to replace the plant that died and you can put it in the container yourself or have them do it for you. They will also make gorgeous custom gifts from plants and items that you've personally selected. read more

Left the store not only with a bag full of stuff for my next project but with a greater appreciation of the artistic and creative ways to promote plants that are ecologically friendly but also have an artistic value as well. Stopped by this morning to get something different than Starbucks or any other coffee. Friendly and nice staff greeted me right away. U found out that the coffee is from Australia but based in SF. I've always loved Paiko. It's such a different concept and truly one of a kind. I mean sure, there's tons of places where you can buy plants but their support of local businesses and providing a upscale experience in a beautiful setting set them apart. When I was a nanny I used to bring the kids here to make terrariums or plant succulents while I would sip on a coffee. I've also done lots of business meetings at Arvo and then walked through all the beautiful options at Paikos before leaving, usually with a hostess gift or new plant for my house or their handmade cards! I definitely recommend coming with girlfriends to have a fun brunch and activity. Nothing like getting your hands a little dirty! I have yet to do one of their workshops but I'm really looking forward to eventually being able to go to one of those too! The new addition to Milo being at the Paiko space is definitely fun and different though I have to admit I miss having more space to sit when ordering from Arvo and more room to browse the plant selection! read more
