I seriously considered not writing this review since I know family, coworkers, all things corporate and proper read my yelp. But it's my 200th review, so I had to make it extra special. Anyways, so here's my excuse (mom... or sister... or people at work). It IS swimsuit season, and I happen to have a white swimsuit. Come on now, it's really out of consideration for others. So, I guess I'll spare the details of what I got done. It's 20$ for a bikini line. $35 for brazilian. legs+bikini is $40. Guys, (i hope), you can even get your back waxed for $30! KELLY CLARKSON!!!!!!!! Anyways, I called her on Saturday afternoon and she said she could take me in 30 mins. So I drove my way over. The salon is called La Coupe and is on Beverly blvd between hawthorne and edinburgh. I believe Larissa said the salon is Russian owned. She has a semi room in the back with walls that don't extend to the ceiling, so you can hear all the Russian ladies yap yap yap. The salon has people doing hair, nails, waxing, etc. It isn't the LA "spa" experience, but I really could care less. It's like a friendly neighborhood salon in Russia, but I have no idea what that is like. Anyway, on to the actual experience. So, you should know, no waxing is ever painless, but Larissa makes it as comfortable as it possibly can be. She's super sweet and makes comfortable conversation. I asked her if she knew she has stellar reviews on Yelp, and she said that one of her clients told her about Yelp and that she didn't even know what it was. WOW! So, today, I went for a little man-waxing, and I found this place on Yelp. I believe waxing in general is over-priced, and there are certain categories of services, which I look for specific bargains. Well, I found the place. You will not find a sign called "Painless Waxing". You will find a salon called "La Coupe". It is a hair salon with what appeared to be filled with lots of Russian speaking senior citizens. Well upon entering, Larissa (I believe that was her name) greeted me and took me to her little corner in the back and went to work. She was friendly and did exactly what I desired. Also, it truly was painless. I do not believe I have ever had such a painless wax. It is as painless as this process can be. She was prompt and delivered good results. Best of all, she keeps her price right. Her price and service combined, will keep me coming back. There is free parking off the alley in the back (behind Beverly). My first time getting wax ever, I got the full bikini wax on May 12, 2017. I found Larissa on yelp. I stomach the courage to finally call and make an appointment. Easy to find address. Drive in alley and park in the back of the salon, walk through the open back door and if you make sure you're on time, she will be there when you walk in. I hate to be the one giving this place a bad review, but I need to let all the fellow yelpers who are looking to get waxed, a heads up. First of all, Larissa is super nice. I called the day of and got an appointment right away. The place was super easy to find [a block from Goodwill]. And, the price is good [only $35 to get a full on brazilian]. And that I where th niceties end. Now, I have a waxer who I have gone to regularly for the past three years. She is amazing, but she always leaves a few hairs, not many, but just enough for me to see if there was another who could truly "take it all off." So, I searched yelp for that amazing person, whose price was also on par with what I was already paying for the full monty. I read the reviews from those who saw Larissa, talking about her price, how she does small wax areas at a time so that the pain is much less, how she is friendly, and how you go in and just get down to business. So, I went in and Larissa was finishing up with a blowdry on a client (I was 20 min. early). She told me to go to the back and get ready. This is a no frills salon, as in, no out of the way hospitality. The place looks like one of those salons you find in central LA. The wax space is basically a tiny room that was added to the space. Walls that need to be repainted, light fixures that have never been dusted, just basically what you would expect paying $35 for a brazilian in this city. So, once we got down to business, she did her little waxing small areas at a time to minimize pain deal. That actually did work. It only hurt a little. The whole time that she waxed me, her only thing she said to me [besides telling me t move my leg or turn around] was "are you doing okay?" Which, is sweet and pleasant, right? Well, not if you ask me 3 times and this is the only thing we "talk" about. Towards the endc, my leg started to hurt because of the length of time it was bent in the same position. But she said she was almost done, which I believed her even when she was lying. Then when it came time to wax the backside, I flipped over and she had me help her, which was fine. She used her tweezers a little bit, which I was all for because it was like "Yes!!! You're getting every last hair out!" Afterwards, she used a ton of baby powder and told me to get dressed. Now this is where my review gets even more bad. You know those comedies that have a kooky dad going nuts with the baby powder until his face is covered in white? We'll, that is exactly what my vag up to my MID THIGH! Looked like. Completely white! I also then used a pump of her CVS brand aloe vera, which she did not use at all on me afterwards. Also, before asking me to help hold my butt cheeks taught, some kind of santizer would have been nice since I would be dealing with freshly waxed skin. Even with all that powder, I was extremely sticky on both sides, which means that she is not that great of a waxer. I paid my $35 and gave he an extra $5 like many of the other yelpers here. I looked at my watch and was surprised that I had been with her for over 30 minutes! But, I thought that as long as she did a good waxing job, I could forgive her wax mishaps. Once I got home, I wanted to shower. First of all, have you ever ripped off a bandaid that was really stuck to your skin?" That's what it felt like when I was taking off my thong. That is how much wax was still on me!!! And then lo and behold, I took a look at her wax job in natural window light and I wanted to scream. She did an asolutely horrendous job. So many long hairs. So many short hairs. What the heck was she waxing? I had to tweeze tweeze tweeze. I don't understand how she could have missed so many. I will never think that my other waxer does a bad job again. I'm assuming that the yelpers who give Larissa 4-5 stars are either seeing impaired, or they just don't know good waxing. So, minus stars for powder overload, leaving me a sticky mess, double. Dipping the sticks [except for when I was facing the direction of the wax pot], dripping wax on my arm and not saying you're sorry, and dropping the unused muslim cloths on the dirty floor and then picking them back up to be used. read more

But I was wrong. I went to Painless Waxing today. Was it worth it? For today, maybe...but next time? I don't know... Larissa is a great woman - she's perky, talkative and puts you right at ease - but she gets straight to the point. The salon is small, there's no ambiance. No funny stuff - you're there to get waxed. That's it. The whole experience is pretty quick and painless. She does little bits at a time instead one big dramatic rip, and you really don't feel a thing. With a snap of your fingers, it's over. Clearly this woman is a five star waxer. And here is why: 1. I called, she answered, and I got a same day appointment. 2. She's fast, gentle, and thorough. 3. She actually cares enough to figure out if it's even. 4. She only charges $20 for a regular wax, and $35 for a Brazilian. 5. At the end, she told me to flip over, and she waxed the "back." That, my friends, is thorough. There are very, very few people I would let near my dainty bits with hot wax. Larissa is the only one I know of in LA, and possibly the world. Went to see Larissa for the first time last week. I called from the car at 5:50pm on Friday on the off chance she'd still take me and she was so cool. She said that she would wait for me. THUMBS UP! this might be a little TMI, but i couldn't decide to do the strip or all the way. So she actually too the time and did the strip. We agreed that it looked kinda stupid, so we took it all off. But the fact that she was willing to make the effort totally wins her points in my book. I kind of don't want to write this review because I don't want to make it difficult for myself to get an appointment. But! Larissa is truly amazing! You really won't find another waxer like her in all of L.A. Trust me, I looked high and low for a waxer like her before I found Larissa. She is sweet and a great conversationalist so it's not all awkward while you're lying on her table. Even though no wax is completely painless, she is very quick and she tries to make it as painless as possible. I have paid up to $90 for waxing jobs that Larissa does for $35 and her waxing job is better! Just note that her business is no frills -- it's just a room in the back of a salon. Ok... Deep breath... My first bikini wax, a short novel by Lindsay Atwood. Today I had my first bikini wax ever. I'd looked all over yelp, and decided on Painless Waxing. Not only did Larissa receive stellar reviews, but the price was right. I wanted someone notorious for their quick/painless technique, and thats what I got. Larissa was sooo friendly, she immediately put me at ease, and I had no trouble dropping my panties for her. ...ew. I never thought I would say that. Awkward... Anyway! The rumors were certainly true. She was fast, (I was in and out in 30 minutes) and the only time I felt pain was when she was pulling off the strips. Heres my issue. I left with lots of little hairs, and some stickiness from the wax. Now... this being my first time, I don't know if its normal or not... I assume it isn't, because she went through with tweezers afterwards. Im happy with the job she did, but I plan on going somewhere else next time, just to compare and find some sort of "norm". All in all, I might suggest going somewhere else for your FIRST time. Even though she was nice, and did a great job as far as comfort is concerned... I think somewhere with a little more ambience, and dare I say... detail, would have been better for my first trip. Larisa is one of the sweetest, most genuine and caring people I've met since I've lived in L.A (about 4.5 years). Especially based on some horrendous waxing experiences with some no-so-warm Russian ladies. I'll admit, the Russian lassies can rip out my hairs in beautiful design but when it comes to my bikini, I don't need DeVinci. Larisa has been my bikini wax guru for almost 3 years. I won't go anywhere else. Although not ever "painless" for my highly-sensitive ass (oh, wow "ass" really works with this point, doesn't it), her technique is the least painful. She created her style through her own experience, working many years as an esthetician for other companies. She's a loving person, so she always takes care in not only her waxing but also her clients. I love her. She's like a surrogate Aunt I get to see every few weeks. A few things to note: -she only accepts cash or checks -her room is in a cute old ladies' beauty parlor (it seriously looks like it hasn't changed since 1972, nor do the patrons, in the heart of WeHo on Beverly Blvd - I love it!) -If parking is difficult on Beverly, park behind the building. There are plenty of spots in back, so just enter the shop through the back door. -I don't know why a reviewer felt it was negative that Larisa answers her phone during sessions. It's never held her up because she continues to work while taking appointments. She's in business for herself and this isn't an appointment with your shrink. Larissa is so sweet! She can tell when you're about to lose it and will get you to start chatting about something to distract you or reminding you to breathe as she's ripping the hair from your body. No waxing is completely painless...but she does a really nice job of keeping it to a minimum. I started with her full Brazilian and now do my legs, lip...and going to add arms next time...because I can afford to get it all done in the same visit!! You can usually get an appointment the same day you call...and she'll try to squeeze you in if it's an emergency. She will take calls while she's waxing you...but if she didn't then you might not get an appointment either!!! It doesn't affect her work or take her any longer to complete her tasks...so get over it!!! You can't beat her prices...$35 for full Brazilian, $45 for full leg, $20 or $25 for half leg, $5 for lip!! OMG!!! I decided to go to this place after all the awesome reviews i saw here but i will NEVER EVER come back! The lady is super nice and talkative I will give her that. BUT... First of all, i thought you werent supposed to double dip the popsicle stick??? It goes back into the wax they use for EVERYONE =/ I went in for a Brazilian and came out ALL patchy and bleeding a little...i wanted to cry...it was very painful and she kept telling me i was exagerating and making it seem like it was more painful than it actually is. I came home and had to shave off the patches she left me because there was no way i could re-wax that area with how swollen it is... The pain was too much that i couldnt take everything off but i didnt want to leave before the job was finished so i told her to do everything and just leave the "landing strip" and even that looks horrible...it is all crooked and she took off more from one side than the other..i guess she realized that she did a bad job because she lowered the price for me.... next time i will stick to the WAX SHOP... read more

I decided to get a wax while I was visiting LA and I found this place on Yelp. Larissa who did my wax was super friendly and made me feel very comfortable. I called and got an appointment the same day. I was seen on time and didn't feel rushed at all. Being in the Beverly Hills area, it was hard to find a reasonably priced waxing salon and this place is a great value! I found Larissa through Yelp and I'm happy to say she actually lives up to all the glowing recommendations found here! YAY! The first time I ever got a brazilian wax from someone else was 5 months ago. I used numbing spray ahead of time. It was 30 minutes of excruciating pain. I didn't understand why women would put themselves thru this kind of torture. Well, I liked the results so 6 weeks later I went back again to the woman who did my waxing the first time -- (I didn't know about Yelp back then) -- hoping it would be different. It was actually worse because I knew from last time how painful it was. Even though she kept saying to me "relax, relax" it actually made it worse. I swore I wouldn't go back. Someone recommended looking thru Yelp. So after checking out everyone else's reviews I decided to try Larissa because of the great experience a lot of people shared here and also because she is very affordable compared to other places nearby. I don't know about you but I just can't bare to pay the same amount to get waxed down there as I do to get a facial or a haircut. I went to Larissa for a brazilian wax and came prepared with my own numbing spray. Someone told me to try taking two advils a half hour before getting waxed so I did that too. I wanted to make sure I gave myself every opportunity to avoid pain. I warned Larissa that I have a low threshold for pain. She told me that at any point I wanted her to stop to take a break because the pain was so bad to just let her know. Well, I didn't need to take a break because before I knew it, it was all over. I thought only 10 minutes had gone by and she said it was actually 15. The best part about it was that it was actually "almost" pain free. I mean, you can't help but feel the sting when that strip of wax gets ripped off. But honestly, it was bearable. And I'm a total wimp when it comes to pain. Maybe it was the advil? Maybe it was because she did smaller strips of hair at a time than the other woman who seemed to do big strips. I don't know. What I DO know is that it went by fast. Larissa even checked for stray hairs which she used tweezers on which wasn't bad either. I didn't stop breathing. Tears did NOT well up in my eyes like they did during my first 2 experiences with my former waxer. It was actually a good experience. Details: You need an appointment to get in. The place is a no-frills hair salon with a separate private room where Larissa does her work. There's parking in back and street parking as well. I didn't mind that the place wasn't fancy-schmancy like some other places because I really don't want to pay for "ambience." I want to pay for a good, as-painless-as-possible brazilian wax that doesn't take a lot of time. That's exactly what I got. Truth be told, there really is no such thing as "painless" waxing. The more you do it, the more you get used to it and soon enough the pain will not be as intense as your very first time. That aside, a visit with Larisa is one worth going back for. She's friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. Her advice to me on my first visit was "it's all in the breath" - as she's pulling the cloth from the skin, she recommended that I breathe out. And it really did help! She would also wait in between pulls to make sure I was okay to keep going. Her space is located in a salon called LA Coupe on Beverly, about a block from Fairfax. Free parking in a small lot out back (go through the alley). It looks kind of shady from outside, but it's a regular salon filled with older citizens getting their hair did & chatting up a storm. No complaints about level of cleanliness. There's a "half wall" separating her booth from the rest of the salon, so if you let out a yelp (ha) everyone will hear you. If you do the whole breathing thing, you should be okay. She takes cash money or checks - $35 for a brazilian. No credit cards. Same day appointments (10am-7pm is her normal hours). This was a fluke. Jodi couldn't take me and my 5 weeks are up. there was no way I was going another week. no way in hell. I citysearched for waxers (yikes! I didn't yelp! oh the scandal.) and found this in my neighborhood, Larissa takes clients on sundays and late at night. divinity! I gave her a call and got a pretty standard "you've reached 323 240 1991, please leave message."... so I hang up. it has to be a wrong number. an hour later... I have a return call. interesting. I call the number back and a lady w/ a thick russian accent answers. So this is the infamous sweetheart Larissa... intersting. I ask if I could come in that night. "of course!" ... really? rock on! I kinda got a little lost (flippen movie trucks everywhere) but Larissa came out on to the sidewalk so that I could look for her instead of the building... that's pretty damn good service. The waxing itself? Definitly not as painful as the first time, her accent makes you smile and she is so sweet as she tells you to breath while she rips. I of course, still sweat like a banchee... but whatever. I do what I do and I do it well. and can that woman tweeze! It hurts more when I tweeze my eyebrows in the morning. I can't say I'm a dedicated fan. She did an alright job, but I am not loving the plain wax she uses, especially on the bikini area (I'm a hardcore blue wax believer.) She was cheap for the amount of work she did, and even though she took scheduling calls during my appointment, I thought it was sweet and after all she is running this one-woman business by herself, no receptionist, no other waxers, ultra cheap in the back of some old lady salon. I don't think I'd go back unless I was a bit desperate. I was extremely sticky afterwards and usually I'd get some sort of oil or rub down or whatever to get rid of the excess wax. Not really with Larisa. She makes good conversation, but I'm just not sold. I was hoping to be but you know, I'm a picky wax-girl. Had an appointment for brazilian bikini wax (which means the ENTIRE area, including bum crack) this morning and it was GREAT! Fast, a little pain but it was all gone by the time I left. I was probably only there less than 30 minutes. The lady (I'm guessing it was Larissa) does little sections at a time. She's very quick and pulls the strip quickly. It hurts for a second but it's not that bad. I think she uses a wax for sensitive skin which helps. Since it was my first time there, I was a bit more shy than usual so I didn't make much conversation. Larissa was still friendly and made sure I was ok every step of the way. She did a great job!! I paid $35 plus a $5 tip. I would have been happy to tip her $10 but she refused to take it. I've had brazilian bikini wax done at other places and I have felt sore for several hours afterwards. Not today :-) I practically forgot all about it and went shopping. The last time I had a brazilian was probably over a month ago at another salon in Glendale (don't remember the name). The lady was really nice and tried to do her best but it took forever and it was very painfull (especially compared with my experience today). Since I felt uncomfortable saying something, I just went home and showered. You lay on your stomach for the back. The place was pretty clean, small, no frills. $35 for a brazilian is low. You yelpers disappoint me. This place is like not good at all. She was so stingy with the wax, kept using her tweezers after every wax strip, and to top it all off, the place is like ghetto yo! I prefer going to Queen Bee or Anastasia (when they still had Nicoletta) because the place and the stuff they use - everything there makes you feel clean when they do you down there... I agree that Larissa is great! I was trying to find somewhere affordable to get a brazilian wax, and she only charges $35. Most of the places I read about on yelp charge at least $60, and that is a bit out of my budget as a college student. As for the wax itself, it took about 20 minutes. This was my first brazilian, so I'm not sure how that compares to other places. My boyfriend thought it seemed kind of sketchy when I made the appointment and she said we would have to go through the back door to enter the salon since it was often closed, but the salon is not dirty or bad at all. A lot of other reviewers have said that the procedure is painless....I'm not sure if I completely concur with that because of the nature of waxing itself (ripping hair out of your skin), but the pain was manageable. Wow she was great! Sweet, professional, and quick... I was a few minutes late so she had to skimp on the clean up because her next appointment was already there. I laughed at the reviewer who told us about her answering the phone while waxing... I tried to think of something funny to yelp out to entertain her caller but I drew a blank. Cosign with everyone else who loves Larissa! I've been to other more expensive, swankier salons for my bikini wax, but Larissa has done a better job in her little back room than anyone else. I don't get ingrowns, she's thorough, and it might be uncomfortable, but isn't painful. Sessions have always been quick once she begins, although sometimes she's running a teensy bit behind from her previous client. She's very willing to work with your schedule to get you in to see her. Yeah, going in the back way off an alley is a bit sketchy in theory, but hey, at least you're not parking on the street! Larissa gets my thumbs-up! read more

I've been to many many different waxers (I used to also manage a day spa so had many there as well) and so far I'd have to say for the price and skills Larisa is the best! At first I was taken back by the set up and felt a little weird in that so called room in the back. But then again I guess you get what you pay for? She's very sweet and her work is very clean and thorough. She does take longer than what I'm used to so I have to block out more time than before but it's worth it for a good job. If you are okay with spending few extra $, enjoy having cucumber lemon mineral water served to you, and tranquil music playing in the back ground this wouldn't be the place for you. But if you just want the job done right and don't mind the non-spa environment she's the one! read more

I visited L.A. for a month, and during this time I was in need of basic beauty services, one of which was a bikini wax. I'd experienced only one bikini wax (in Dallas) prior to visiting Painless Waxing, and was utterly dissatisfied with the outcome which is why I'd never bothered to get another until I heard about this place. Let's just say, I concur with Reecha H. who states she has 'never enjoyed going to get a wax so much as...[with] Larissa". This woman was quick, professional, and sweet. I called and got a same-day appointment for myself and my first-timer friend. And I was 100% satisfied with the results. Excellent service. Larissa is awesome! She is very polite and does a great job. She is very affordable. Only reason I am giving four stars and not five is that she is not totally thorough and you do have to tell her that she's missed certain areas. But the best for the price for sure! read more
