I've been coming to this field for some time now and have never had a problem with the staff or anything. Today was an exception though. I arrived with a small group of friends and all went well up until a match refereed by a younger guy by the name of Seth. He was a horrid referee. There were multiple accounts of people on our team getting hits on opposing players and he would not bother to check. At one point he instructed a player to get out as he was hit in the shoulder. The player acknowledged the ref speaking to him and then walked away and continued to play the match and the ref did nothing, he didn't tell him to stay out and there were no repercussions. Another moment I had personally hit a player on his bright yellow hopper, making him quite noticeable, before getting hit myself. I walked over to the ref and pointed out that the player had been hit and he simply looked at me. Not a word, didn't bother to check the player. Same match, a team mate had pointed out players (including our own team) that had been hit multiple times, Seth would tell them to get out, they wouldn't listen and keep playing. His only response to our protests being, "They don't listen to me." and a shrug of his shoulders. Again, no repercussions. He didn't exercise any authority as a referee, seemed completely inexperienced and our group avoided any further matches he was a part of. This one match is the only thing preventing a 5 star rating. All refs should be properly trained. Almost forgot to include what an excellent employee Jason was. He was really friendly and funny and was great at hyping people up. We had a short conversation before a match and he is hilarious and friendly. The epitome of customer service. Additionally, the lower field service was good. Nothing stood out in particular but we all registered and paid quickly and easily. Overall, great staff. read more

Ohmygosh, hot as heck, but MAN that's fun! I really enjoyed this experience, considered I've never paintballed before. Laser-tag, yes... paintball, no. We rented our equipment, got our paint, and did 4 rounds out there before we were fresh out of energy. But I honestly did enjoy being one of the only two females out there and shooting a couple of the guys! The place is as put-together as it can be, with a water station during breaks. We also got a quick training and safety session (as green players) so we wouldn't accidentally hit someone in the face or something. I didn't have to use the restrooms, but I did end up removing some clothes in the car. They suggest certain outfits to wear, but once I got there and caught a hint of the heat I was stepping into... let's just say it's a good thing I brought coveralls instead of overalls. read more

Horrible experience at Paintball USA in Southern California. A player was over shooting, cursing, yelling, getting in players faces and being a total $%^ to other players at the paintball park. Referees seem clueless and careless about this guy. I found out after saying something to a ref that the $%^& (Daniel) was the "lead" referee of the paintball park. Would not recommend if you are taking your kids especially if he is playing there. I spoke to the owner (Michael) and he took care of it but it still left a negative impression upon the staff and Paintball Park. UPDATE 12/27/11 After submitting a concern to management, they properly handle the situation in a professional and respectful manner. This showed the integrity of the paintball park and its committed employees. Thank you Mike for your constant communication and dedication to make everything right for other customer out there. Our group which were 16 had a blast. As a gun aficionado i have been to many ranges but never had the experience that i had today. Our referee Corey was awesome. I went there today for the first time and believe me, it sucked. We were with a party of 22 and bought a 3 private game package. We get there and the place is over booked to its capacity and ended up getting put in a game versus a lot of older adults. We dust off from that game and after almost an hour of complaints, we get a single private match. We have fun and we eat lunch along with buying $40.00 worth of paintballs. We are led by the ref for our last private, and an accidental shot was fired in the parking lot that caused no harm because of the barrel sleeve. Then the asshole who apparently can call himself the owner, kicked our entire group. Keep in my mind this is an 11 year olds birthday. The birthday went home in tears. My friend left a review but i wanted to leave my own since I'm the owner of the BLUE Tippman 98 paintball gun Paintball USA staff tried to steal from me. I have paintballed with them for maybe...30 times over the years bringing all my friends each time. I plan the paintball days, my friends come. I heard they had a NEW LOCATION and one of my friends called me the night before wondering if this was the right place to go to since they moved their location down the street and he had read bad reviews. I told him that they are always cool to me since I've been going here forever. Boy was I wrong...So we went...check in was fine and i noticed JASON, who i said hi to...apparently he didn't remember me, which was not a problem, its been about a year since i've played. I have a really nice Invert Mini all fixed up...but my first paintball gun ever was a Tippman Model 98, which came out in 1998 and the gun sold out immediately from stores. I purchased mine used in 2000 from a friend who upgraded it with expansion chamber, new barrel and trigger. Recently i decided to get all my gear completely overhauled and painted my Tippman 98 BLUE, wow its beautiful now...so good looking that the staff decided to take it from the friend i let borrow it and have him come get me. Basically they confiscated it. When i went to talk to JASON he was saying that they buy paintball guns in bulk and its very weird that the numbers 609 match my paintball guns 609 so my gun is theirs. He then went on to ask where i got it, and said that i could have put those parts on after i stole the gun from them to hide that i stole it. I told him its not their gun, i've had it for 18 years and then showed him that his guns are model 98 customs...which are newer guns compared to mine and the wear on their guns compared to mine is quite noticeable. He was comparing his rental model 98 custom to my model 98 and using the "SERIAL NUMBER" ENDING IN 609 TO MAKE HIS CASE that my gun is their gun, holding it and pointing to numbers on the side. He reluctantly returned my gun saying that he was positive it was theirs but could not prove it so he had to give it back. Side note: They engrave their guns...mine wasn't engraved like he pointed out...that should have been enough but here's the best part. THE 609 IS A PATENT NUMBER. Pause for thought...It took me 3 minutes to google it. Whatever, i got my gun back and this place sucks...I played one more game and this guy JASON has the nerve to come back when I'm packing up saying come with me and bring your gun. I think these idiots called the cops on me or some shit, but apparently the owner MIKE wants to take a look at the gun. He wasn't trying to prove that the gun was his, he was trying to get money from me for screwing in one of their air tanks into the gun. He says that by screwing in one of their air tanks i have now broke it and need to pay $45 to buy it...he left the question open ended since he didn't want to be a complete asshole and asked if i would pay the $45 for the tank. I politely declined and let him know that if there was a sign saying that i could not screw their air tanks into self equipped players paintball guns then i would pay. At this point the sixteen and a half year old blonde behind the counter pointed to some hand written paper nobody could read behind her hoping to make some point...while i do commend you trying to help your employer, I'm not going to be cheated after you guys attempt to steal my gun and accuse me of stealing it from you with no proof...maybe you should keep an inventory with the actual serial numbers of your guns and actually look for your engraving before accusing people of taking your old ass guns, painting them, upgrading them with vintage parts, then bringing them back to the field they stole them from. To the business: Before you accuse paying customers of stealing your equipment, have some proof and knowledge that patent numbers and serial numbers are not the same thing. If players cant use your air tank in their self equipped guns, have a sign. That simple. I will say that the way this was handled deserves a negative review of your establishment. Based on the small number of people playing on the weekend, i would think that you would treat your customers with a little more respect. To potential customers: There are Groupon's that make this place attractive to hold group events, but based on what i saw today and how i was treated, i would think twice before planning an event here. I left with such a bad experience that i thought about it for a few days before i wrote this. No one should feel like a thief by both the manager and owner of an establishment. Oh...customers now have to park their cars far away from where you play paintball so your belongings can get stolen while your playing....by players like me. Cheers. read more

Three stars for the field. My kids had a blast. The down fall was the staff. And now that I have seen the reviews it seems like the staff/customer service skills are it's down fall. Paint ball isn't cheap but being treated a little better would have been nice. There was a definitely a lack of organization at check in and check out. Had there been more communication on rules to check out there wouldn't have been so much confusion. I had planned on having three events there. But after a heated exchange of words with one particular staff member I won't be going back. The manger had sided with his staff and defended there behavior. After I mentioned I would never come back he said "just because of one person" I relied YES! One persons poor attitude effects buisness and that one person is the reason I will take my business elsewhere. I would not recommend this place based on its staff. But hey if you like being yelled at and wanna pay to be yelled at go for it. I received a reply to my post. And again Paint Ball USA stands by there opinion. Came here for my birthday and went with my family of 16 people myself included. Mike still being the owner of the location off sand canyon, went there a lot as a teen and him still making the commitment much respect. Mike was very greeting and welcoming as well all the staff too, everybody was working hard as the location is evolving look forward to going again but with a much bigger group. I want to try to keep this short. I doubt I will be able to. It would be difficult to find any place that you could have stronger mixed feeling about than Paintball USA. A little over a week ago, I took my two roommates to play paintball. The occasion was one of their birthdays but the other roommate had never played paintball before so we were both excited about introducing him to the game. Paintball USA has a large area with a lot of tents and a few fields just off the road. This is where you pay for everything and then you drive up the hill and there are a lot more fields, fill stations and chronograph stations, etc. Up the hill is really where everything happens. This is a pretty logical set up but they need a LOT of work on the lower area. I overheard some people saying that the Saturday I went to play was a very busy day but that is not an excuse for how bad the service was. It is pretty easy to see that some thought has gone into the set up. There are signs that say step 1, 2, and 3 where you fill out the waiver paperwork, pay, and get your equipment respectively. The biggest problem is how long step two takes. Not enough registers and not enough employees. One of the best things this place could do to speed up the process is to insist that each person has their packages and such decided before they get in line to pay. It is infuriating to get in line to knowing exactly what you want with 3 people in front of you and you still end up waiting for 45 minutes to be helped. This is unacceptable. On busy days it would also be nice for them to have a dedicated register for people who only need to buy walk on passes and NOT rent equipment. I have been to a lot of different paintball fields but this was the slowest service I have ever experienced. Once up at the field the day got a lot better. The only problem we had (which had nothing to do with the field) was that one of my guns had an issue so my friend had to walk down the hill and brave the storm of terrible service again to rent a gun. Once we were all situated it turned out to be a fairly productive day. I like the fields and I felt that the refs were putting out a lot of effort to maximize the playing time for everyone. They were severely understaffed but it turned out alright. I wanted to mention that the guy working the Co2 fill station was very helpful and friendly. I had just watched this guy single handedly swap out the heavy Co2 cylinders and help two people in what was probably record time, there was a line of 3 other people behind me waiting and the manager decides that this was a good time to drop by and criticize. Don't think for a moment the manager lifted a finger to help either, he just sat on his ass and chewed out his hard working employee for forgetting a complete formality of a safety precaution. The only other issue was that the 4500psi fill stations were not working but I was able to manage with the 3000 psi side. I really can't say enough about the refs here. All day I watched them deal with what must have felt like an overwhelming amount of players and they did pretty good. I really wanted to give this place a nice soft 3 star. 5 star for the top and 1 star for the dreadful bottom section of the field. The problem is what happened after we were done. When my friend went down the hill earlier that day they overcharged him for his rental. We thought, "no problem" we go to get it straightened out. At this point we start a 20 to 30 minute argument with the guy at the register because he felt that we were not entitled to any money back. We felt they over charged us by $25, they thought it was fine. We had all the receipts to show that HIS calculations were still not balanced. By his own admission we should have been charged $90, and our receipts that we showed him a dozen times proved that we paid $110. STILL NO MONEY BACK! We ended up just leaving. Normally I would not let something like being overcharged bother me that much but the guy at the register was such a dick about it that I ended up thinking about this crap a few more times in the following week. I have worked as a manager and other positions in a number of service industry type jobs. It is so surprising to me that someone would be this stupid about a matter of $15. If he didn't have the authority to refund my money he could have told us that and we would have been fine with it. Instead this idiot spends 20 to 30 minutes wasting our time and denying that we have any reason to be upset. It wouldn't matter if this place had the greatest prices for the greatest paintball fields in the world, with service like this, Paintball USA will never be more than an average field. read more

Decided to cash in our Groupon for paintball. My fiance is a former Marine, and both of us are athletic. We've never played paintball. We walked onto the premises in the afternoon and couldn't find staff at check in. The area was packed with groups of high school students, and a small group of twenty somethings. Finding staff, and obtaining paintball guns and vests was a hassle. The staff seemed like they'd rather socialize then provide customer service. we got our guns, ammo and we're never instructed how to load, or operate the paintball gun. No safety instructions were given, no explaination of rules other than keep your mask on at all times. Ref wasn't paying attention to the game, ignoring other teams rapid fire modifications, and talking the newest gun specs with other players (all the while facing away from the game). We left with our fair share of bruises, and I can see how paintball would be amazing, as long as you bring a large group and communicate.. And avoid paintball USA **UPDATE** PAINTBALL USA CONTACTED ME AFTER THIS REVIEW AND IN ATTEMPTS TO REMEDY THE SITUATION AND OFFERED 2 FREE PASSES FOR ANOTHER DAY OF PAINTBALLING WHILE INQUIRING ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE.. This is my reply e-mail with more detailed explanation of events Hi Mike, I'm happy to let you know a little more about our experience. We called ahead to check how late the Santa Clarita location was open as we were going close to closing(2:30-3pm arrival? We arrived with a little over an hour to play). We were informed ahead of time that the facility closed in an couple hours and decided to come out anyway. When we arrived, there were large groups of people in both the parking lot and sitting at the tables just beyond check in. We couldn't find any employees, and found sign in and set up somewhat confusing. We located one employee (where we later picked up our guns) and she directed us to sign in, pass over our id's, and handed us two bags of paintballs-- we had to find our own guns and padding with no direction. Once we found an empty picnic table amidst the teenagers and young adults, we attempted to figure out how to load our guns, get our gear on, and milled around waiting for someone to let us know when to play or where to go. We brought a few items to snack on and some water, but ended up locking our belongings in the car as there wasn't anywhere safe to leave them out while we were playing. After a few minutes we heard someone yelling from the field entry area. We noticed everyone gearing up so we grabbed our things joined the group. We remained unnoticed as the ref joked with a group of guys who had been playing earlier(had paint on them already). He then looked to another couple who had just arrived, chatted and gave them arm bands. I spoke up "we're new too", so he gave us an armband and said "Everyone ready?! Masks on!" before entering the field-- There was no explanation of safety, strategy, team organizing or how to work our guns. We were left to figure it out for ourselves and felt relieved that the ref at least said, "if you get hit, raise your hand and gun up, and I'll make sure you safely exit".Not once, did this happen. My fiance and I both got hit upon exiting, the ref did not "get us to safety" other than standing the side of the game, conversing with other players. More than once the group of guys speaking to the ref pre-game had guns that were rapid firing. The ref assured us this was a misfire..despite being able to see multiple rounds spewing from their paintball guns. After being hit, I stood on the sidelines and watched the game as the ref chatted with players, HIS BACK TO THE GAME. My fiance politely asked him to mind the game, as he had already been hit directly in the ear by another player on exit; affecting his hearing for 2 weeks after the game. We're both extreme sports advocates, are familiar with firearms and came prepared in proper attire. In all our experience I would have never guessed, prior to attending Paintball USA, that the experience would have been so unsafe. Though I appreciate your attempt to provide quality customer service, I feel the negligence of your staff and poor management of your field make your facility unsafe even for the most experienced. I will never return, nor recommend your field to anyone I meet. Best of luck read more

This is our first experience at a paintball facility, so here goes. We arrived for a party and it took the staff about an hour and a half to check us in, fill out waivers, pass out guns and masks (wet and smelly - not sure if they were wet from someone else's sweat or a cleaning solution, but if it was a cleaning solution, they shouldn't have smelled bad). We had to ask if we were getting vests and canisters but the workers didn't even know. We ended up getting vests. Most of the guns were low on air pressure and we had to ask to get them all filled. We were told to go up the hill, and we were able to drive (I'm glad I have an SUV because it was pretty rutty). We got to the top and we went to a field. There was no referee the entire time we were there. It was pretty much like an open shoot. Luckily we had another parent organize a game or two. The facility is pretty run down, most of the guns worked pretty well, and the staff was pretty much non existent. I heard some pretty unprofessional employees whining about various job related duties. I know this is paintball and doesn't need to be clean, but this seemed pretty run down. The organization and staff are the main reasons for the poor review. This was a birthday party and there was no help from the staff. I have no idea how much this cost, so can't comment on the value. read more

Background: Have been to Paintball USA +5 times now. Stock class phantom (pump) w/ 4 oz tank. I have limited experience with air ball or tournament play, but decent experience with rec and woodsball in Northern California. In LA, I have been to the Paintball USA in Oxnard, Hollywood Paintball Park in Paramount, and CCP in Castaic a while ago. Have rented in the past and have friends that rent from Paintball USA. Overall Review: Fields: The lower lot has 3 fields at the bottom area (2 hyperball/ random debris fields, 1 sad-looking airball field). Airball field is a standard setup, but the turf is worn and not well kept. Unless you ask for a game earlier in the day or at the end, you probably won't play it as a walk-on because the refs are focused on accommodating the rental players on the other fields. 2 hyperball fields are average in size quality. The upper lot has 7 fields. Jungle is a piece of shit excuse for woodsball but then again it's a desert. Trenches is a coin flip in terms of enjoyment. Beware though, very easy to fall in the trenches or trip over something (sturdy knee pads are a must). Haystacks is a....haystacks map with big wooden spools mixed in (my personal favorite map). Baghdad + whatever the two maps next to it are called are all very fun though some sides are disadvantaged. Hills behind Trenches is a piece of shit map. Fields Overall: Though some fields are lackluster (i.e. Hills, Jungle), there are a larger variety of other fields to play on. Provides a nice change of pace from one to the other. Most fields are pretty large though the refs do pack them. Parking: Tons of parking close to the fields on both lots. I was able to keep paint in my car instead of on the tables, reload, and be ready for the next round with out any problems. At the entrance, they usually situate a person to guide traffic and answer questions. You can drive to the upper lot. Service: In open class, refs are pretty good on getting games going with less than 10 minute wait times. Every paint check that I called on somebody or on myself, the refs were quick to move. All the refs were amiable in conversation and answered all questions/ provided advice without any attitude. All seemed knowledgable as they are all players. Managers are active in both lots to keep play moving and games going. Teams were split evenly. For example, splitting up electros; 3 per team. Refs were pretty diligent in terms of keeping people's face masks down and barrel plugs in. At the equipment shacks, they accommodated the fact that I had a 4 oz CO2 tank and hand filled it for me. Though if you have a problem with your gun, its better to ask a ref or another open class player because chances are someone has your gun or has had your gun and knows whats the problem. My friends pump had a main spring issue and the refs offered to let him use a rental for no charge. Overall I had no problems with the service or employees. (sometimes the upper lot manager can be a little...pushy, but nothing too bad) Equipment Rentals: Rental guns are what you would expect from a rental gun. So don't listen to people criticizing that their guns are shooting balls that curve every which way, cause that's rental guns anywhere. Paintball USA aren't going to lend out pro electros cause rental players are inexperienced and will damage them. Also, that's why people buy guns and dont' use shit paint. All the times that I or my friends have rented, the guns work and if they dont then you bring it back and they fix it or give you a new one. -- haven't used any of the .50 guns Masks are what you expect from a rental mask. Just pick out the less scratched ones or pick up one for 50 bucks at a store. chest protectors are decent though a sweater will do too. Have never used one of the rental coveralls. Pods and belt are decent. Overall, rentals weren't anything better or worse than other fields. Pricing: You can get a Groupon pretty easily though if you don't have one then its decently priced. If you have your own gun then its $30 (includes unlimited air). That price isn't that bad seeing that Hollywood Paintball Park is $27 on saturday just for admission. Paintball USA is about the same price as others in the Castaic/ Santa Clarita area. You don't get a discount off the $30 if you use 12 grams or have a tank. They make you buy a barrel sleeve if you dont have one, though i think im the only person that has a barrel plug these days. Paint is competitively priced compared to other parks. $60 for average buy-at-a-field paint. They have no restrictions on outside paint. All the time I've rented they haven't checked. So definitely buy your own before. Overall: Paintball USA is a great place that provides a variety of fields, decent prices, good setup, and above average service. I haven't had any problems after all this time. read more

I went to Paintball USA - Close Encounters just this past sat. for my bday. Went with a group of 18 so had a good 9 v 9 for the first few games. Top fields were open so we got to play 5 fields throughout the day and that was with a repeat of haystacks. Our ref was a chill guy named Aaron and I must say he did a great job. He made sure we got to play the fields we asked to play on and he seemed to know his stuff. On another note, the owner actually gave me his cell to order pizza as we either didn't have reception or left our cell in our cars. Overall, my group and I were all pleased at the end of day. I was especially happy as I got to finally try out my new marker ('09 Spyder Pilot) and was very pleased with it. We will definitely come back to play and also highly recommend Paintball USA! The customer support at Paintball USA Is terrible. The lady behind the counter had not eve. The slightest bit of respect. After playing, the lady wouldn't hand back my id. she thought the other players that happened to show up at the same time as I, we're apart of my party. I would highly recommend going to a different paintballing. read more

Went here for my first time. The staff in the front were extremely rude. The lady had us fill out the forms and just disappeared. We had to wait 5 minutes just standing there for the 1 lady to go through everyone. She had opologized though for the wait and gave us an extra ammo bag which was cool of her. The other woman with a ton of makeup was super rude...it was our first time ever paintballing and I asked simple questions like how to I put this on, and where do I go, and she was giving me very bad attitude, sarcasm, and just not helping me...finally she tells us to go to the Orange station where everyone is only to find out we went to an advanced course with players having red around there arms. The instructors there just looked at us as we were lost, didn't help us or let us know, until finally I had to walk up to him and ask him. The one lady who was in charge of the beginner course was cool though. The teams were unfair though. Advanced people on one side vs the new kids (small kids)...it should be beginners with beginners...that's it.. I barely got to peep my head out lol. So please people at the front be nicer to newer people and not assume that they pintball every single day of their lives... read more

Paintball USA - Gear up! - Paintball Near Me - Acton, California

Came here after getting a groupon promotion. We had a good time with our party. Rentals were decent, had one minor problem with one of our co2 tanks, but was quickly taken care of. We first started at the larger fields on top, which were fun, only thing is not sure how much the refs were paying attention when several players were obviously shot and kept on playing. Went down to the lower level and our final ref of the day, Rachel, was awesome! Kept close eye on everyone made sure those who were out were called put and left the field quickly. Kept asking how our day was going, if we enjoyed ourselves. Great people skills and she didn't remind me of Spicolli from Fast Times @ Ridgemont High. I'd go back again. Once more any of the higher ups at paintball usa, if reading this, Rachel is an awesome employee, made things more enjoyable... Almost forgot to mention, if using Groupon, you apparently need to call and make your reservation. I didn't see it anywhere on the paperwork and had to make one at the last minute when I called on the way there double checking they accepted credit cards, which they do btw. read more

So I had never gone paint balling before and most of the staff here were friendly and helpful. I just wish there was more support for first timers. On my first match I felt like the only one who had no idea how to play because nobody gave my friend and I a lesson. read more

There were a lot of people here when I went. There are some cool maps. The staff doesnt seem to give a crap about much and the refs dont really do much. Some of The fields are pretty rocky. its their paint only and a box is like 50 bucks. They get the games going fast which was nice. read more

Paintball USA is the best paintball in the near Los Angeles. We had a great time and the referees were extremely helpful. Shout out to Art who helped us get started. Would highly recommend this place for anyone. read more
