This place was really nice and had such a great variety of items! There were so many beautiful things made by Native American artists -- from paintings and hairpieces to dream catchers and more. You can really tell the authenticity because many of the items even have census numbers on them. The store is run by Native Americans, and everyone working there was incredibly kind and welcoming. I really appreciated being able to support their work and see the craftsmanship up close. They do have a section with items that look like they came from China, but the real treasures are definitely the authentic Native-made pieces. Visited this store a few weeks ago with intentions to spend a great deal of money. We have come here in the past with a good experience so we decided to stop by again. This time it was awful. One of the employees is an older, white, tall and gray haired woman who is incredibly rude and disrespectful. She talked about us to the other employees openly and inappropriately. It's sad that we felt so disrespected because if I had a better experience I would love to come back again. read more

You can see the dinosaurs from the highway so it's not hard to miss this place. Plenty of parking is available and when I visited there were over 30 motorcycles and one RV. I stopped here to take pictures of the art installations and I spent maybe about 20 minutes taking pictures and nobody came out and yelled at me to get off their lawn. Inside the store, they have souvenirs like handmade art and jewelry. Handmade pottery and petrified wood along with other souvenirs. I did not spend a lot of time inside but the staff seems nice. I would for sure stop by next time I am in the area just to take pictures of the art! read more

I had to use the restroom, and I am so glad we stumbled upon this store. I'm only sad I didn't have more time to spend in there. If you need to use the restrooms, this was sparkling clean, just like the advertise on the outside. I got a few jewelry items, and souvenirs, and everything is lovely in there. Nice hand-made items. Of course things are a bit pricey, but I expect that for hand made, and good metal. We'll try to make this a usual stop on our trip from TX to CA! read more

Not very polite or educated about the stones. Maybe just the woman I dealt with but she didn't know what half the stones were. Kind of important with that type of selection. She kept telling me "genuine, authentic" yet none of the pieces were stamped with designer's initials which is pretty typical. Beautiful jewelry but not sure where they source. Wonderful! In the middle of the Holbrook, AZ Desert stand a few buildings, surrounded by dinosaurs, metal animals and tents. Inside is a fantastic assortment of Native American supplies, arts, jewelry, statues and crafts. The clerks are very polite, friendly and sweet. There is plenty of parking. We initially stopped because I had wanted to see the teepees and dinosaurs all around the property. It was fun to walk around, go inside the teepees and take pictures. My dog loved it too -- the store doesn't allow dogs but they're allowed to walk around the outside property. The museum pieces they had were so interesting to look at and we wanted to stay and look for hours. There were so many gifts & oddities as well -- something for everyone! Their advertisement for sparking restrooms was no lie -- the restrooms here were nicer & cleaner than all of the truck stops. The employees were so friendly & nice! My parents make the drive from Chicago to Phoenix twice a year and I'm sure they'll be adding this to their future stops! read more

Love stopping here on every trip. This trip though they were out of the ironwood pipes. Hubby always got a new pipe with every trip. The inside has been rearranged a bit but as always everyone still friendly as ever and the best restrooms. read more

I've been stopping by every Indian jewelry shop I run across as a Trucker. This place hands down is the best. Why ? Because they have the highest quality stones and jewelry with which I've been looking for 2 specifics that not one of the other 15 different stores had. Not millions of factory or tourist trap junk. I wish I got the store owner's name. She was the kindest lady. Our time with her was a highlight of our trip to the Petrified Forest National Park. My two sons were super excited to get their free petrified wood from her store. Even though the bin said "1 per car," she saw my 3 year-old and said, "Don't worry, he can have one as well." We perused her beautiful store (she has been there for 30 years!) and bought a very reasonably priced unique sand landscape art piece. She gave me more history of artist, Sylvia, which was really special. My older son found a piece of petrified wood last minute after I had I had already paid and she was so kind to gift it to him for New Years. We tried to pay her, but she wouldn't take it. If that wasn't enough, my 3 year-old was touching the cactus in her store and got a few needles in his hand. The owner rushed to the back and let us use her brand new tweezers her friend from NY mailed to her. I was moved by the interaction with her. She role modeled generosity and kindness to my two sons (ages 3 and 8) - an invaluable lesson. I wish I could thank her more. Please go to her store! It is worth the trip. read more

Stopped on a road trip to pick up some excellent souvenirs, and left one of our phones in their restroom. Didn't figure it out until almost Las Vegas, when we used the find my phone app. Called up the center and Felicia confirmed it was there, almost as concerned as we were! She was absolutely wonderful in assisting us with getting it returned to us. What a relief! Her outstanding customer service and genuine human concern is something rare these days, and I for one will add the Painted Desert Indian Center to my families annual road trip for years to come. Very nice staff at this store. The native woman showed my friend and I almost everything inside the Kachina cabinet and helped us immensely. We were able to purchase 2 Kachina's and she did everything right. I had been all through Northern Arizona and Utah and she was by far the most helpful person on my entire trip. They took care to wrap up my Kachinas to prevent damage. They also had clean restrooms and a great vibe compared to Stewarts across the street and their petrified wood is reasonably priced. We were looking for desert goods to take back to Ma. and stopped here. What a great treat to visit this shop! The goods were pretty much separated with the Native hand crafts front and center. The ladies in the store were very knowledgeable about their merchandise and careful in its packing. It is easy on/off the highway and the restrooms are very clean. BEWARE! DO NOT SHOP HERE! My family and I stopped at this establishment on June 23, 2015. I purchased a small horse hair pot that I fell in love with. I carried it around the store for a while thinking about my purchase. When I went to check out, the guy behind the counter took my pot and said he would wrap it for me so it would not break. He took it in the back and my pot came back wrapped and placed in a box only it was not the indian pottery that I chose and paid for. When I got home I was devastated, the pot was not the one I picked out. The pot they gave me was totally substandard and simply ugly. AGAIN BEWARE!!!!! read more
