    Cleanest restrooms around
    Michael M.

This is one of the cleanest best organized Trading Posts I've ever Been in, everything for sale is Handmade Native American, check it out! Rest Rooms are modern and spotless. Don't drive by stop in its worth the stop.

We initially stopped because I had wanted to see the teepees and dinosaurs all around the property. It was fun to walk around, go inside the teepees and take pictures. My dog loved it too -- the store doesn't allow dogs but they're allowed to walk around the outside property. The museum pieces they had were so interesting to look at and we wanted to stay and look for hours. There were so many gifts & oddities as well -- something for everyone! Their advertisement for sparking restrooms was no lie -- the restrooms here were nicer & cleaner than all of the truck stops. The employees were so friendly & nice! My parents make the drive from Chicago to Phoenix twice a year and I'm sure they'll be adding this to their future stops!

Love stopping here on every trip. This trip though they were out of the ironwood pipes. Hubby always got a new pipe with every trip. The inside has been rearranged a bit but as always everyone still friendly as ever and the best restrooms.

    Run, save yourself!!

They also had clean restrooms and a great vibe compared to Stewarts across the street and their petrified wood is reasonably priced.

There are a couple of listings for this shop so make sure to go to 357 Navajo Blvd. When we arrived the shop was closed but a note on the door instructed 'potential customers' to call. The owner Leo arrived in 5 minutes as promised and greeted us warmly. Inside there are three jewelry cases filled to the brim with copper, silver, and turquoise jewelry. You can find Hopi, Navajo, and Zuni handmade jewelry, ceramics, and textile pieces at Nakai's. This was the only trading post we stopped in Holbrook and is certainly worth a visit. Leo is knowledgeable about his trade and was happy to explain the differences in turquoise to me, producing the map you can see in my photos. He was patient in helping me select a pair of earrings and checking out rings in my size. Be sure to visit Nakai's and it's reasonably priced wares.

He was so knowledgeable, I spent HOURS talking to him about different stones and pieces. He was honestly so joyous about his craft that I bought 6-7 pieces from him. Leo is a national gem!

The dinosaurs are huge but then so are the piles upon piles of petrified wood and other rocks surrounding the building. I believe my husband was grateful they were closed, he seemed to relax a bit more as we strolled around the perimeter!! I definitely would have loved to get my hands on some of the fine specimens they had just laying in the dirt! Everywhere we looked it said they were open the afternoon we drove through town but unfortunately it was all locked up and no sign of anybody around. Since we found it on Roadside Attractions, we treated it as such and just enjoyed the unique dinosaurs and a chance to stretch our legs! Perhaps some day we'll return and one of the beautiful rocks will come home with me!

We stopped in to peruse the inventory and basically got into an argument with the crabby old guy who was manning the place. I was just curious on where they get all of their petrified wood, etc. and he told me I asked too many questions and then started to grill me on rocks and the origin of petrified wood??!! Really weird customer service. While my wife was shopping inside he followed me outside - he said he didn't trust me. Like I was going to shoplift a 100 pound rock... The more valuable stuff was inside anyway. What an old coot. Stop for the pictures and move on.

But this place made me want to leave immediately, despite all the cool finds. One reason, was because of the organization. Trust me when I say this, I've been to my fair share of antique shops. Most of them are a little unorganized and you kinda have to look for the cool stuff, but overall you can find certain items of the same kind. But this place was insane, absolutely no order to it, not to mention the insane dust in this place. No upkeep was happening, and there was no room to barely walk! It was almost like a dusty, very fragile, maze. The other reason for why I might not be back is the owner at the front desk. She was the rudest lady I've ever seen in an antique shop, let alone any business. I wish I didn't give her my money because she didn't deserve it. We were not acknowledged when we entered, even though she was right there and glared at us for entering her store. Plus, when checking out, I asked a question about something with no price tag, and she gave me the price and asked for a card immediately for the book I was buying. No conversation? A 15 dollar book by the way. No receipt, good bye or have a good day. Anyways, the last thing I wanted to mention, (thanks for making it this far) was that this seems to have been an ongoing problem, hence the other reviews I read from a couple years ago. I feel like, if you know people feel this way about your customer service, shouldn't you make a change? You ARE still running a business. 1 star!
