for a year now. Let me point out a skilled training that was offered years ago to hair dressers called Vidal Sassoon. Some did get the training and successfully completed the course and received the MIT cert for haircut, color and styling from Sassoon courses. I have used many stylist and hair dressers charging from 45- 800 dollars. The 800 dollar cut, color, highlights, stylings was from Vidal Sassoon graduates. However the hair designer charging 800 was doing entertainment people. Now we have Kelly who has the certificate from Vidal and charges reasonable prices for the Bay Area and creates an art work not a hair color, cut or highlight and style. I will say just try her once there is no way you will go back to any other stylists than Vidal trainees. read more

I haven't touched my hair with color in so long because Ive been too afraid and she truly matched exactly what I wanted with the photos I showed for inspiration. So i'm not generally a huge reviewer, so pardon the writing style...but it feels like i've hit the hair lottery so here goes. I made an appointment using their online portal (super convenient) with Kelly. I came in with crazy bleached hair grown out to high heaven. I'm talking like half my head was grown out. Can't bleach again without getting stringy, stretchy ends but haven't had anything interesting done with my hair since a pixie faux hawk when I was 22. SO I collect a bunch of inspo that's wildly different and not a whole lot of input to help figure out what will look good because i've had highlights with a boring cut for ten years. Kelly helped me figure out what color would grow out beautifully with my natural color but would still enhance my features, have some dimension, AND would work to blend the blunt line between my bleached ends and roots without causing any further damage. And girl, the SHINE- it's outrageous. Literally three different people have told me I look like a movie star. Now the cut: tbh I didn't really know what I wanted. For the last 10 years it's been a boring cut with long layers. So when I was experimenting with the idea of a big chop, I was scared that i'd ask for something that would end up looking terrible. This is where Kelly's expertise really came in handy. I told her roughly the amount of time I could spend styling and the vibe I wanted and BOOM. Magical MELISSA , thank you very much!!!! She is the hair whisperer I swear ! I literally spent an entire year with my hair up in a ponytail because of all the bad cuts I kept getting. If a stylist has a bad day , then what they don't realize is like that means several weeks of bad hair days or even months for you . I'm pretty basic , I have thin ,fine hair ,and I like it cut a little below shoulder length , and even on both sides , but I don't know why it was so hard to get this year. A long time friend of mine referred me to Melissa, I guess I never thought to ask because it's an hour away from me , but I was desperate. I came to Melissa with PTSD because of all the bad cuts , no joke ! Melissa did long layers on my hair and evened everything out, without having to take off much . I've been wearing my hair down every day ever since and loving it ! Unfortunately I would have loved to show her excitement after my cut, but usually I will go home and it isn't until then is when I realize that after trying to style it myself, I am unable to , only to see how uneven it is and not even close to what I wanted. I am so happy with my cut now , which means everyone else is too because they don't have to hear me complain about my hair all the time when it was in bad shape and now I tell them "oh , did I tell you I love my haircut and that woman (Melissa) is amazing !?" .
