I had a great time when I visited Painting With A Twist. It was a Britney Spears themed event that coincided with her memoir book release. Not only did participants paint artwork of Britney, but there was a Britney trivia, and Britney music played throughout the night. So fun for me as a big Britney fan :) I loved our teacher Julian. They were fun, friendly, open to questions, and gave advice when any of us needed help with our painting. Totally suggest Painting With A Twist for a friends night out, date night, or even a solo night out. They offer so many different artwork options (that you can choose from when you book) at a decent price! They are BYO wine and beer. read more

Kira and Steph are a strong team for the Paint Your Pet class! Kira's instruction was clear and she demonstrated what she was explaining on her own cat sketch (which turned out amazing). The class was well paced and we all made good progress throughout the first two hours. The last hour was mostly focused on pacing ourselves through the "finishing" details. Each painter could decide what constituted finished. Both K & S coached us individually throughout the class. Fun. Fun. Fun. Highly recommended! read more

Our instructor was fun and a great help when our bottle's cork broke in half and I didn't know how to use a certain type of wine bottle opener (it's called "the waiter's friend" apparently and I'm only used to the winged version). We had quite a crowd with ended up sharing tables with another group. It was a good thing some of our group members didn't show up at all or we wouldn't have enough counter space. read more

Booked this last minute on a Saturday, which i see is a bad idea because these sessions sell out so fast but we were lucky. It's located right on south street in Philadelphia, which is a very busy street with lots of things to do all throughout the day and hours of the night. It was our first time going to this place and doing a paint and sip at all. It was a awesome experience, the staff was very fun, friendly, and entertaining. The music was good as well, and the environment was very clean. It's a great place to go with friends, or on a date. With it being a BYOB paint spot, it's a win win situation all around. The only reason they don't get a 5/5 is because I emailed fist and DM on IG and didnt get an answer. I called though and the answer to my question is NO, they don't have a bar. It's byob. I had a wonderful time ! I celebrated my 25th birthday here with 4 girlfiends. It was everyone's first time painting with a twist and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was very light and cheerful. My friends brought me a cake and it was another customer's birthday as well (they had a cookie cake) and the staff had everyone sing to us which was very sweet. We'll definitely be back. read more

I don't have a creative bone in my body, and I was skeptical that our group of ten would actually produce decent paintings, but boy was I wrong! Olan was a great teacher - funny, encouraging, and always willing to assist. All of our paintings turned out pretty darn good, and at the end of the session he took like 9 pictures of us with each of our cameras. He was such a good sport!! Overall this was a great day. We brought stuff for mimosas and we had plenty of snack foods, and it was great to just hang out, paint, eat, and drink. There is a parking lot (15 bucks) right next door to this place, so it was super easy to get to. I highly recommend this if you are looking for a great group activity. PS they also have a wine opener mounted to their front desk, and it is awesome and powerful. read more

I actually did Painting with a Twist two nights in a row this past weekend and had a blast! The second night was at this particular location and we were doing the Starry Night Philly picture. This picture was a little more involved than I originally expected, but the instructor went really slow and walked us all through it step-by-step. They also had another employee walking around to give out extra paint and help those who needed it. My piece came out vastly different from what it was supposed to look like, but I was still pretty impressed. Seeing everyone's variations from the original was really cool. As other reviews have mentioned, PWAT is BYOB and will supply the cups. If you want ice, make sure that you bring it with you! I'll definitely be doing this again! read more

I had a great time here. Olan was a great teacher, and even a non-artist like myself was able to leave with a painting that wasn't a hot mess. They have a pretty cool policy where if someone couldn't make it at the last minute after the window for cancellation has closed, you can take their blank canvas with you to give to the person and he/she can come to a make-up class for free. This was my 3rd time, but my first at this location. Similar to other locations, the space is very tight. You can tell they want to maximize their occupancy. BUT everything else was great! The teacher and her assistant, I can't remember their names, were awesome! Don't worry if you're a terrible painter, they go step by step. Our painting was abstract, so imagine that and a bottle of wine lol. Also, I met so many people, everyone was really friendly-- I even got invited to drinks with some ladies celebrating a birthday. Tacky reservation policy. Ive been trying to book a party for over a week. I sent several emails and i didnt get a return call, just returned emails that didnt quite address my request. After chasing someone down to get a reservation i finally talked to someone named Pat. Someone named Cassie sent me a contract and told me they would book my reservation once the contract was signed with my credit card info. I talked to Pat the next day and i told her i was submitting the info as soon as i got off the phone. 10 minutes after i submitted the information Pat emailed me and told me it was booked THE DAY BEFORE. Why would she not tell me the slot was booked when i talked to her on the phone before i gave her sensitive financial information? Seemed to me that Pat wasnt trying to accommodate me at all. Im taking my $800 elsewhere. read more

I also like how its BYOB so I can save some $$$ I felt like the instructor rushed though the class a bit which I didn't really like. This place always provides a fantastic evening. I attended a session led by Casey and had the time of my life! It's a laid back painting session facilitated by local artists. You're allowed to (encouraged to) BYOB to enjoy libations with the painting. This was a less minute activity and I was glad that I went. A friend had reservations and couldn't make it, so she asked me to use it...I invited a guy I was seeing and we embarked on the adventure. This guy was such a skeptic, but I said- let's JUST DO IT!! Turns out - it was AWESOME!! We had no prior artistic skills that we were brining to the table - I open my mind and just decided to go with the FLOW!! The instructor was patient, encouraging and helped us feel good - although our work was AWFUL!! Our alcoholic beverages also helped soften how bad we actually were. Luckily all the other participants in the class were pretty cool and had good energy too. I was so pumped up afterwards - I went on Groupon and Living Social and purchased coupons for all my friends!! Can't wait to attend another class. read more

I really enjoyed the painting class and now understand what all the hype is about. I was very skeptical at first as to how this was all going to happen. Who was going to show me how to paint this complicated looking piece of art? Have they met me?! I was pleasantly surprised and can't wait to go back for the next girls night out. The classroom is a long narrow room with easels and paint brushes on top of each other, almost bumping elbows to the person next to us. There wasn't a lot of room to store our coats/handbags other then setting it behind us on the floor. The instructors (one at the front of the room doing a step by step instruction with his own easel and another walking around offering assistance where needed) were upbeat, nice and engaging. They moved at a pace that kept the class in sync and very easy to follow. I liked the pop music playing in the background so it didn't feel like art 101. I was able to chat with my girlfriend and about to pay attention at the same time while sipping on my wine and nibbling on snacks. The two hours went by quick and at the end we have some group photos and a little piece of art work, surprisingly wall worthy to remember my night out! I highly recommend it to anyone that wants a fun group activity! read more

Finally, one of these places opened up close to home! I loved my visit to PWAT almost as much as I love my new super cool artwork hanging on my wall. I have been to another PWAT location but much prefer this one, as it is smaller and more personable. For a larger crowd, they have one instructor painting and another walking around helping people out which worked out beautifully. I also think they have some of the best paintings available. I especially love all of the Philly themed artwork. For a fun night out I am of the believe that PWAT can't be beat! read more

Great time and fantastic instructors! My husband and I switched things up for our weekly Date Night and I surprised him with a trip here. Anthony and Aldan were very friendly and encouraging to all the painters, even me who decided to paint something completely different from the piece he was giving the lesson on! No painting experience is necessary, you will painting the preselected painting along with instructor. If you need help there are other staff members present to assist you. This particular location had a lively, party atmosphere with tunes that made you want to dance while painting and drinking. The staff was friendly and helpful. Such a fun afternoon to spend with the family... I have zero artistic skill and was able to paint a beautiful picture (Yellow Peonies) thanks to the instruction and help from the ladies of Painting with a Twist. You are given very detailed instruction as well as hands on help (if you need it). I suggest that everyone gives this a try. It is such a relaxed, fun and friendly environment... (no judgement to those of us who aren't very good at painting :)!!! Make sure you bring snacks, water, wine, etc.... you have plenty of time to grab a snack or a glass of wine while you wait for paint to dry to move on to the next part of your painting! Also there is a parking lot right next door (we paid $15.00 to park) if you don't have any luck finding street parking. read more
