Bandejita: Chicharrón, plantain, egg, rice, and avocado.
    Lore R.

I ordered the Bandejita, pan de abono, and limonada con hierbas. La Bandejita was a good sized portion. Came with two pieces of plantains, chicharrón, over medium egg, avocado, sausage, rice, red beans, una arepa and steak. The presentation was in a iron skillet which I liked because the rice had a crunchy bottom. El pan de abono was disappointing. It was dry in the middle, instead of that chewy cheesy taste we grew to love. The chicharrón was almost there. It was cooked perfectly but needed some seasoning. The sausage was a bit dry as well. Nothing to highlight about it. Doesn't beat the sausage from El Paisa BBQ down the street. The steak was a thick sized cut, with a chimi sauce on top of it. It was also dry and wish they would have cooked it medium rare instead of well done. The egg was cooked to perfection. The highlights for me was the limonada con hierbas, the egg, rice and beans.

The best Colombian spot on the southwest side of Houston. Food is delicious, juices are fresh, great prices, good service, good music. My favorite is the Mango Juice with water & the Beef Empanadas. You can also order through Door dash, Uber eats and Grub Hub.

    Patacon and Arepa.

Patacon com carne was pretty good. Arepa with mixed meat topping was alright. Dine in setting was fine. Will need to try their Bandeja Paisa for further critique

Pescado a la parilla con camarones

This is a casual dining place. It is also, a good place to try if you haven't tried Colombian food. I have been to both of their locations and service is consistent. If you don't speak Spanish, the establishment will pair you with a server that can speak English. Their menu also, has pictures. I like their pescado a la parilla con camarones (grilled fish with shrimps/sauce). I learned about this dish from a friend who has been to this place and liked this dish as well. I have been to Paisa's 2 locations and they have been consistent with the service as described and the grilled fish with shrimps dish. I also, like their cafe (no after taste of bitterness with the coffee) and arroz con leche (rice pudding). On my last visit, the side of arepas that comes with my fav dish (see picture) was a little too toasty to my liking which was no big deal since I enjoyed and ate the fish and shrimps! My husband on the other hand ordered frito pescado (fried fish) which according to him was okay and he took some of my shrimps and sauce. Overall I would recommend this place especially if you are new to Colombian cuisine.

    Happy hour menu

Second time here and I am pleased. The first time I came I had a hotdog. Second time here I got a Bandejita. Reminds me of home. Although I'm not Colombian my family is from El Salvador so a lot of the flavors and foods are super similar. Platanos Fritos, frijoles, chorizo, and fried eggs. Soo good. The menu is pretty big so there are lots of items to choose from. The Pork belly is delicious and probably my most favorite dish. Service is good. It's what I would expect from a spot like this. It's pretty laid back and clean. They were playing great salsa music. They also have a full bar and the happy hour is pretty awesome. I brought my partner for the first time and he enjoyed it. We will certainly come back again. Thanks for the awesome food!

Chorizo burned beyond recognition. Why would you attempt to serve this to someone?

I really hate to give a bad rating to a local establishment but this is by far the worst Colombian restaurant in Houston. The food is completely flavorless and rather gross. I order a Bandeja paisa and my egg might as well been hard boiled. My steak tasted like boiled meat, the rice and beans were so bland, my chorizo burned beyond recognition. It was literally split open and burnt making it completely inedible. This isn't the first bad experience here and it will now be the last. Completely disappointed.

    Beef in sauce

The empanadas are very good and so are the juices but the two dishes we requested both were very very bad. The beef a caballo and another beef with the sauce turned out to be chewy almost impossible to eat and absolutely no flavor at all. We are on the lookout for good places around to visit often and I will probably come back here to try the sandwiches I heard is good but for sure the kitchen needs training on flavor and cooking. I love Latin food but this was one of the worse foods I've tried in Houston. I told the waitress about it. The food looks good but no quality. 100% on the empanadas great!

    Asia K.

Great authentic Colombian meals! We ordered the freshly squeezed mango and orange juices. We are surprised that they do not use any type of juice but the fruit itself! I am truly in love with it! I ordered a typical plate with sausage and corn patty. I also ordered a plate that I had the fried platano with sauced shrimp. The outside can be deceiving as the inside is very modern than the exterior look. We did not expect this. Very nice place!

The Bandeja Paisa was extremely bad, the food wasn't cooked properly and the meat was half way cooked which is pretty dangerous.

It fills the space in the best way possible and immediately pulls you in for the full experience. One thing that really stood out to me was the customer service. The staff was genuinely friendly and welcoming, which, unfortunately, hasn't always been my experience at other Colombian restaurants. Many places I've visited primarily speak Spanish, which can sometimes make ordering a challenge. Here, I felt completely at ease and well taken care of. We started with the beef empanadas, and I highly recommend them. The crust was perfectly crispy, while the filling was soft, flavorful, and comforting. Paired with their salsa, which had just the right kick of spice, it was an excellent combination that made for a strong start to the meal. I ordered my go-to favorite, the Bandejita. The presentation was beautiful and appetizing, but sadly, the bold flavors I'm used to just weren't quite there for me. The flat steak tasted under-seasoned, and I actually found myself adding salt, which I've never had to do before at other restaurants. The pork sausage also seemed a bit dry inside, but my husband said that's how it should be, so perhaps that was just my preference. The beans had a different flavor than what I'm accustomed to as well, not bad by any means, just noticeably different. On a positive note, the pork belly was perfectly crispy, exactly how it should be, and the plantains were sweet and cooked to perfection. Overall, the menu looks incredibly tempting, and there are still plenty of dishes I'd love to come back and try. While I may skip the Bandejita next time, I definitely plan on returning to explore more of what they have to offer.

Avoid This Place - Dishonest, Disorganized, and Power-Tripping Door Staff…read moreIf you want to be lied to, ripped off, and treated like garbage before you even step foot inside, this is the place for you. I completely agree with the recent negative reviews. The door girls working on July 5th & same girls worked a previous day I came to watch the world cup game are an absolute nightmare and are actively killing this business. I had a confirmed reservation for 6 people inside in the super club room. I received multiple texts and emails confirming it, and I even called ahead to double-check due to some of their reviews of not honoring reservations. When I arrived, the door girls told me to step out of the regular line and to come forward because of my reservation. Then, they completely refused to honor it, claiming they no longer had any available tables inside. Their "solution" to a 6-person reservation was trying to force us onto a tiny, round-top table that barely fits 2 people, located outside in the blistering heat. When I refused, the girl with the clipboard walked up who I figured could help and would have better customer service but who clearly thinks she runs the show but has zero customer service skills rudely told me that if I didn't take the tiny table, I had to go to the very back of the line. Mind you, they were the ones who told me to step out of line in the first place. It gets worse. These people are completely unethical and dishonest. They charge you a cover fee at the door and sneakily add their own tip onto it without telling you. If you aren't aggressively checking, they will happily rob you blindly. The only reason this place gets any stars is because the food is actually good, and the waitresses and bartenders are nice. In fact, our waitress was the only reason we got a decent table outside. But management needs to wake up. If you are not going to honor reservations, turn off the online booking system. Fire or retrain the power-tripping, dishonest girls at the front door. Until they fix their unethical staff, save your money and go somewhere else. Another concern is it does not seem like management cares because I see zero responses to concerns on here.
