Palæo in torvhallerne is a small place. A really small place. So small, that in fact, they only have about 8 seats or so, placed into pairs at each table. As a result, it's impossible to find somewhere to sit. Which is probably okay if you're ordering take-away or the weather is nice outside, but in the middle of a rainy november it's not so nice. Luckily, my mum and I went to Palæo just for the cakes. We had spotted these delicious baked goods when we had lunch the day before, and decided to try on a rainy afternoon. I went for the cheese cake, my mum the dark indulging chocolate cake. Both were så delicious and filling. I think both was raw made as well, so maybe it's not quite right to call them "baked good".... Anyway, we ate up fast and wished there had been more. Unfortunately they ran out while we were there. I really can't give Palæo no more than three stars because of the (non-existing) space, and partly because the staff seemed to be in a bit of a rush (I would be stressed too if I worked there). And because they ran out of cake. Make more cake! If I ever go back to Copenhagen in the summer, I will definitely have more cake from Palæo.

Everything is dairy and gluten free in accordance with the paleo diet so it's a great place to go if you have allergies.

Very disappointing experience, The Duck was like eating small stones, rock hard. The sweet potatoes were burned.

I originally went for the frøsnapper, a danish poppy seed pastry, but every time I went they were out, so I finally opted for a cinnamon roll. The vegan foods in Hawaii are nothing special, so I was a little hesitant on buying something vegan, but at 15kr a piece, I figured why not. I am so glad I got it, because it's the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. The pastry was very chewy but flaky on the outside, and there was just the right amount of cinnamon. It was also very buttery (but of course it wasn't actual butter). The prices are much cheaper than the other bakeries that I went to, and I like these cinnamon rolls a lot more than the overly hyped Sankt Peders Bageri ones.

There is a small section of gluten free and vegan groceries in the bakery as well so if you want vegan butter with your gluten free bread, this place is a fantastic one stop for it all! The owner is friendly, not too talkative but at least he still has that Danish smile :)

I never thought I would be saying this about porridge of all things. But, Grød truly opened my eyes…read morein terms of how I could prepare my daily oatmeal. We tried Grød at two locations: the Torvehallerne market and at 7Eleven. The market, I ordered the Oat Porridge which came with apples, roasted almonds and caramel sauce, my mom had the All In! and my dad had the oat waffle. All of us (mostly) left satisfied. My picky father loved his waffle. And I really enjoyed the porridge I had. The oats perfectly cooked, the apples and almonds gave it a nice textural contrast. Plus the caramel, which was more like a dulce de leche added the perfect amount of sweetness without being too sweet. My mom was a bit ambivalent because the All In was too sweet. But to be fair, All In includes all of their toppings. Including chocolate and caramel so her assessment was fair! The Grød at 7Eleven had this wonderful chia pudding, layered with yogurt, natural peanut butter, a berry compote and nuts and I was obsessed. So simple, yet so wholesome. I found a cup at the airport and proceeded to import it back to the States. Overall, it was definitely worth a visit (or 2) to have my mind blown. Grød may not have intended it but this lil Westerner is now leveling up her oats game thanks to their menu!

I ordered The Duck (burger and chips) and it took a bit over 35 minutes, which I noticed (as I was sitting there) was a bit of a consistent issue. It's not that bad, but it is a bit long of a wait. Just heads up if you're on a timetable, this might be a risk. If you're not, then you're probably safe to order and wander around or shop for a bit. Just ask how long it'll take when you order. Palæo renowned for being the first restaurant chain where you can go 100% paleo. As the name implies, their menu is focused on a paleo diet aka. the Stone Age Diet. Essentially, that means they're avoiding anything that processed or refined, and they're known for being 100% paleo. However, they do have items and options that don't adhere to it. This includes items like beer, coffee, and cheese, and they're all separate things that you must specifically order. It's just a very convenient spot if you're on paleo, lactose-free, or gluten-free diets. They have around 8 locations, and this particular one is a stall in Hall 1 of Torvehallerne Copenhagen market halls. This corner location means they have a lot of little tables suited for parties of one or two as well as counter seating, and during when I was there, there wasn't really anyone competing for seating. Overall, I thought the flavors were pretty great. My favorite thing in The Duck was the perfectly crisp fries and the accompanying sauce. I also liked the duck confit itself, but after a while, I just couldn't get into that bread substitute that was used as the buns. An interesting restaurant and I super appreciated that things are cooked to order as well as certain parts of what I ordered. However, while I was super excited about when I first saw it (something new to try), I just wasn't as enthusiastic about it afterward. In the end, it added to the experience of coming to such a trendy market and is an experience, but just not my cup of tea.
