Palace Cafe's Eggs Benedict with sides of Bacon, Sausages, and Toast.
    Chan Y.

Everything you would expect from a charming local small town diner. Exactly what was needed after returning from a cold night of camping. Eggs Benedict is one of the dishes Palace Cafe was known for, and delivery was a massive and perfectly done plate of the eggs and hash browns. Very generous servings of side orders for bacon and sausages, their sourdough toast even came out with butter already thoughtfully applied. Was committed to finishing everything along with several cups of coffee, and definitely felt fueled for the remainder of the day until dinner time.

Located on the N. Main street of downtown Ellensburg, it's conveniently located on the corner of the intersection. An older building with lots of character inside: brick walls and black and white pictures hung on the walls. With a large group dining in, they were able to accommodate our party in a private room. Our server was really attentive and met all of our needs. The food was okay. I tried the fried green beans with my sandwich and it was okay.

The manager of a hotel I was staying at recommended to this place, but after eating pie and ice cream I was less than impressed. I was hoping it would be a mom and Popp kind of operation offering fresh pies and quality ice cream. It was very basic and not very exciting.

We had a great meal this eve!! My Hot Prime Rib sandwich was amazing. It was exactly the comfort food I was looking for, and it really hit the spot! Hubby's Fettuccine Alfredo not so much! For $20 you don't expect the pasta to be dry, and you expect the garlic bread to impress and this didn't. However, as far as Alfredo goes, the flavour was very good and himself was pleased with that aspect. The portion for the price was definitely lacking. We were blessed because Micky was a great waiter, his smile was absolutely infectious! We greatly enjoyed our interaction with him. The restaurant itself was nice, with the right amount of lighting, and the music was enjoyable and didn't over power our conversation! We had a brilliant time!

This place looks questionable from the outside. Well, inside as well. It is dark with small dark table and chairs. Standard silverware, the cheap tin and paper napkins. cheap decor. The staff were all really friendly. Unfortunately the food was poor. What really sounded good was the mashed potatoes with crunchy chicken and covered with gravy. What could go wrong? See picture. It arrived swimming, yes swimming in gravy. I like gravy as much as the next person but this is ridiculous. I took one bite and sent it back. Gross. Powdering tasting gravy. I asked the waitress to take it back and I ordered a turkey bacon sandwich. It was a good tasting sandwich. The fries were the standard frozen kind. Ok. My husband also ordered the potato dish and did not care for it but did not want to send it back. I may give it a second chance. Just don't order the mashed potato dish.

Heading up to ellensburg for a show at the gorge and stumbled upon this place. Was craving some soup and it was clam chowder. This was probably one of the best clam chowders I've ever tried. It wasn't creamy but held a lot of flavor inside. Nothing was overpowering. It was very light. Wish more people made it like this. The sliders were disappointing. The bacon made it super salty and there was no special sauce with it so it was dry. Good thing we had ranch because I would've thrown it away. My boyfriend got the burger and it came with a special sauce, he really enjoyed it. Also, the fries were thick and crispy!

I had the fettuccine Alfredo. I am somewhat a Fettuccine connoisseur, and thought that I would compare it to other restaurants. I enjoyed the flavor of the meal, it was very good. The dish was a bit dry for my ideal, and the bread was about average. The waiter (Micky) was very cheerful and friendly, and did a good job.

    Strawberry French toast

It looked like a good place and I had high hopes. I ordered strawberry French toast, bacon and grapefruit juice. I'm glad they had the juice. Many places don't. The bacon was excellent. The French toast was a horrid mess of soggy bread covered with a mush of only just recently frozen limp strawberries from a can whose juice was poured onto the plate adding to the watery grave. The server was friendly but never checked back with me to see if my meal was ok.

While every dish is an eating experience, the Early Bird has monthly specials that are as unique as they are wonderful. The only problem: they only exist for that month (although manager Erica tells me they occasionally have made a monthly special a permanent fixture). Come early or late on weekends -- The Early Bird is often difficult to snag a table, especially on Sunday mornings and in the winter when they don't use their outdoor dining area. Also: their adjacent sister eatery, the Night Owl, is a similarly high-quality Korean restaurant.

Unfortunately for me, many other concert goers had the same Sunday morning plan. While The Early Bird is delicious, it's by no means speedy. We originally received a 45-minute wait for takeout, but ended up waiting closer to 75-minutes. My order consisted of the Eggs Benedict bowl with the veggie medley, monkey bread, and a hazelnut iced latte. The perfect cure after a night of debauchery. You can tell they're doing their best to manage crowd control, especially the morning after a popular concert. Something to note is that you must have a table secured before ordering food. They don't let you order and wait to be seated to help lessen the crowding. Pro tip: the city park behind this building is much better spot to wait for your food. There's seating and even private bathrooms - a god-send after a night of camping at the Gorge.

She didn't have any beverage while I had their dragonberry mojito. The beverage was excellent, as was the tortellini and garlic bread, and the fries are possibly the best in Ellensburg. My cut of prime rib was more done than I ordered and was lacking in flavor. The doneness the establishment had control over, the taste, not so much. The corn was not very good, like it had been out too long, soft and not the best taste. The service was excellent! Our server Taylor was very attentive and worked hard to make our visit memorable. I left a tip a bit higher than what I normally would. The part though that is irritating to me is they charge a 3% credit card fee. This restaurant is equidistant between banks that I use. If I had known of this fee I could have had cash. Banking fees should be built into your pricing. $40 for a 10-12 ounce prime rib should contain enough profit to absorb the credit card fee. All in all a good meal that mostly checks the excellent box.

There was open seating in the bar, the door greeter (bartender?) handed us some menus and said we could choose our own table. Definitely understaffed for two big teams of kids & parents, many empty tables were not cleared (including ours). We were warned that the kitchen was catching up with all the orders so it might take longer than normal. We didn't mind since we wanted to have a drink first anyway. We enjoyed the spicy Bloody Mary and a yummy ceviche appetizer to start. We eventually ordered the heaping 12th Man burger; too big to eat with your hands, had to knife and fork that baby! Hubs ordered the fish tacos, fresh & crispy, no complaints. The staff was hustling, spread thin, but still amazingly friendly & efficient. We will return to try other menu items.

It came with mashed potatoes and green beans, and had Gorgonzola cheese, as well as bacon chunks and mushrooms spread all over the steak. Meat was very tender and cooked exactly like he likes it which is medium rare. Portions of everything were generous. He also got a Caesar salad which he enjoyed but would ask for light dressing on it next time since it was way too much dressing My son got a basic burger. He thought it was very good but would prefer the Patti be a little shorter and wider than taller and less wide. The sandwiches and burgers don't come with sides which is weird. So we ordered the french fries to share. They're my very favorite type - medium thickness (1cm x 1cm), long, crispy but doesn't break when you bend it and not oily at all I had the BLT with avocado and pesto aioli sandwich but I made it into a grilled chicken burger. It was very good and the bacon there is amazing. So thick but not overly greasy either. And not fatty. Amazing flavor. Plus the walls are old brick and we love brick so really enjoyed the setting Great service too. He knew the menu really well and was always there when we needed him. Very friendly. I could tell he likes his job. We will be going back!
