Lovely theater and saw a great performance of Elf. The only issue was that the ushers did absolutely nothing to curtail the use of cell phones during the performance. I get it - they are all volunteers, but all they did was stand and watch the show. So one incredibly rude audience member basically just took pictures and answered texts the whole first act. Would have ruined the show for us but luckily there were open seats further down so we just moved and had a great second act. read more

Nice theater, beautiful décor and layout. It is a bit dated, but one could say the same thing of many major theaters. It is very classic and similar to European styled ones - small seats, velvet cushions, but old. The music was too loud for the Nutcracker that it hurt the ears, I watched the whole ballet wearing tissue paper in my ears. It is impressive that as a nonprofit they are largely volunteer run (the ushers, for instance). It is very good overall and has a nice variety of shows. While the quality and fame of the groups that perform there is not Broadway-level or international fame, it is still very high quality and impressive. This theater adds to the dynamism and important arts culture of Stamford and Fairfield County. read more

Came here to see Chris Janson in January 2020. The sound, sightlines, and show was great. People can stand at country shows but it's rude for people to chit chat in their seats while fans are trying to listen to the musicians performance set on stage. + The garage across the street $3 event parking + Balcony is like 20 feet from stage + Very clean and spacious + Red velvet plush seating with good leg room - drunk people chatting during musicians set Tips: Upstairs snack bar (chips, candy, pretzels, soda, beer, wine, water) is shorter than downstairs snack bar. The theatre is awesome. However the concessions/bar are a complete rip off. $9 for a beer; $12 for a spirit with exact measures and what I would call a very limited bar service - worse than an airline for selection and prices. I attended David Feherty and paid for meet & greet tickets so the bar prices were a shocker on top of that. Most of my friends who attended the show last night were in the bar across the street because of the prices - before and after the show. The folks that run the Palace need to take a hard look at the Ridgefield Playhouse to learn how to manage an event at a venue. read more

We recently saw the Christmas Cirque special. The show itself was very good and entertaining but I'm here to review the actual venue. This is actually my second time watching a show here. I like that it has an intimate feeling to it. Both times that I've seen a show here, we were seated at the orchestra level. You can pretty much see the stage from wherever you are seated which is a big plus. Hopefully they'll add more mainstream entertainment! read more

I thought this was a very nice, historic theater. Beautiful details everywhere. There are parking lots (paid) nearby and street parking if you can find it. My issue was with the ushers. We waited awhile for an usher and when she came she was frazzled & unpleasant. She told us that her fellow ushers we're sitting and not helping her. Um...not my problem!! Tell your boss, not your customer!! The seats were a little tight as with most theaters but fairly comfy. Would return in hopes they can get their ushers to be more friendly & helpful. read more

I just saw David Sedaris here, and the show was amazing. But this review is about the Palace, and every star goes to the amazing staff that work here! I purchased tickets for the show weeks ago and the night before the show, I found out that some front row seats were available. I called to upgrade, but those tickets already got sold out. The next day, just hours before the show, Dona, an amazing staff person there, called and told me that two seats just opened up and she wanted to know if I was still interested. I have been to many shows at different establishments, but never received such courteous customer service before! And as we waiting in line for hours to get our books signed, the staff that were there selling coffee, tea and other snacks were just some of the nicest people I encountered after such a long night. The place is beautiful, the shows great, and the staff are spectacular! I will come back for more, even while living in NYC! read more

Showcase 61 Review: The Palace has started a new free concert series on Friday nights featuring music groups from NYC. After attending the Rooks show on the April 25th I'm very impressed and cant wait for the next show. We arrived shortly after the 8pm showtime and the show started at about 8:15 for a close to capacity house. The stage is setup upstairs in a hall setting with tables and chairs facing the stage in a moer intimate fell. There is also high tops in the back closer the bar area. Arriving on the later side left us with only a few choices for seating, but there really isn't a bad seat. It only depends if you want to sit infront or behind people at your tabele. Because of the unique pricing of FREE! The drink prices are a bit high so bring plenty of cash. It goes to a good cause anyways. Plus if you get hungry you can order from Station Eats until 9PM and they bring the food over to your table! The crowd was very mixed and appreciative of the music. I'm happy to spread the word and hope this really catches on to be a mainstay at The Palace! read more

Well I like the Palace and the shows here!!! Nutcracker 12-20-14 They re-engineered the seating to add another row in front of what was "front row" -- Now row A is an obstructed view --yeah yeah its "now" the first row but with literately 1' to 2' of leg room think the first seat in coach is bad? This is worse, I assure you! Now the view -- if you're short your now at eye level with the stage -- Literally made my wife nauseous.... The seat is so close to the stage you have to look all-most straight up to see the performers. We luckily were able to change our seats to the next row back last-minute which helped. Do yourself a favor when booking first row seats -- Book row B or C and save the headaches and backaches. Hope you find this helpful -- read more

Surprisingly nice venue. I was expecting something old and outdated, but they've really maintained it well and it truly has that old theater feel. The Palace is also small enough I do not think there are any bad seats in the house. Plenty of restrooms, which is rare for a theater. Typical overpriced candy and wine. Id suggest in the next upgrade they should get screens to project the performer to those of us in higher rows in the balcony. While I could still see and hear, it's nice to catch the facial expressions sometimes, especially for a comedy act like Jerry Seinfeld. read more

Called and got tix for Defending the Caveman about 3 hours before start time. Good show. We were up in the balcony - in the 3rd row stage left. I don't think that there is a bad seat in the house. Solid snack bar with drinks/wine/beer. Lots of staff who are just dying to be helpful. Parking is easy. I thought that the tix were slightly expensive ($47 per) but....... Its beautiful inside and interesting fact: at least upstairs, they had hands-down the best smelling Men's Room that I've ever been in. I don't know what they use to clean or deodorize but this thing is like a 5-star island resort. Shocking. I'm always on the lookout for good shows at the Palace. Well done Stamford Center for the Arts! read more

Just a wonderful space, creative, and though the shows may not be the top of the mark it's an aggressive grouping of options throughout the year. Been to an art opening here recently and was pleasantly surprised to see that underutilized space abounded with beautiful murals and even some decent statues as well. The Palace Theatre is a first class venue, located conveniently in the downtown section of Stamford close to bars, restaurants and municipal parking. Though under utilized, it is a great place to attend a concert, comedy act or local fund raiser. In my opinion, this place can be so much more. Unfortunately, most nights there is nothing happening at the Palace, while local folks are headed to Port Chester, Ridgefield and Fairfield for live music. Too bad! read more

Was at the Palace Theatre on Thursday September 12, 2019 to see Skillet a Christian Rock band. I have seen Skillet before at the Xfinity Theater in Hartford CT when they opened for Korn and they sounded awesome. This is why I bought tickets for the show at the Palace Theatre. I had front row dead center mezz seats. Been waiting six months for this concert only to leave because of ear pain. The house speakers were so bad it hurt the ears and many people had to stick a finger in them. In between the opening act and Skillet people were yelling to "Fix the Sound System" as it hurt our ears from the opening act. Finally I told my wife, let's go because I could not take it anymore. She had stuffed paper towels in her ear so it was not so bad for her. Once we went downstairs to the orchestra level we realized the music sounded 100% better because the music was coming out of Skillet's sound system. The house system was blocked by the mezz above us. We watched the rest of the concert standing at the back of the orchestra level. How disappointed we were that we had to endure so much pain in the upper level. I spent good money on these tickets and was honestly the first person to purchase tickets to the show. I had my pick of any seat in the house and I chose dead center mezz for a reason. To watch a great show that I waited two years for and to leave in pain was totally frustrating. This was not my first concert at this venue and never had this issue before. The Palace Theatre will never receive another penny from me. Not worth the chance of this happening again. I did see in a review for the Nut Cracker they had the same issue. So this is not new and should have been fixed by now. read more

We came to the Palace Theatre to see a comedy show this weekend. They were efficient in getting people through security but the "bar" seemed pretty unkempt and the theater needs a desperate remodel. It is a non-profit so I can't pass too much judgement as it's all volunteer run. We did really enjoy the show. Not a bad seat in the house. I'm not sure if we will make this a regular place to see a show being so close to NYC but it was a decent event. read more

Well last night we went to the Palace for a Music City Sessions concert with Drew Baldridge. These concerts are on the upstage at the Palace and are for up and coming artists. Very cozy atmosphere. Very glad we went, people were great and the music was awesome. In the past year we have seen about 10-12 shows, concerts and such and have never been dissappointed. Already have tickets to two more shows on the fridge. read more

Took grandkids to Nutcracker. More convenient than NYC. No orchestra, played recorded music. Sound system is terrible. Worse than sound in my old Chevy with only one speaker working. Not kidding. And playing it at excess volume wasn't the answer. Dancing and costumes were pretty good, but the movements were never quite in synch. For $60, I expected more. And, even though theater was half empty, the ushers allocated only one program per family, saying they were running low. But toilets were clean. Poorly managed facility. read more

Never got an email telling us what time the QA was with the Newsboys, called day of to find out it was happening at the exact time as I was calling. We live 2 hours away. Bands website said 8:00 pm start time, tickets said 7:00 pm no opening acts. Ended up missing the entire show. Complete waste of 268.00 and a dissappointment to my 10 year old who had been waiting 3 years to see this band. read more

On the site, it says that a handling and facility charge will be added ($8.00 per ticket) upon checkout. For a family of 4, that added up to another $32. So, I decided to pick up the tickets at the box office. THERE WAS STILL THAT ADDITIONAL CHARGE. That is ridiculous! Another person purchasing tickets at the box office, was also shocked! I recently took my daughter and granddaughter to the Nutcracker ballet at the Palace Theatre. The theatre is very nice however I was extremely disappointed in the quality of the performance. It was billed as a professional show. It appeared to be more like a dance recital. Last year I saw the Nutcracker at the Performing Arts Center is Morristown NJ and it was by far a more professional and enjoyable experience. My biggest disappointment is that I took my granddaughter because she started ballet lessons this year, but when her dad asked her if she was more excited about taking ballet now that she saw the show, she said that she was less excited. I believe a better performance would have made the difference. The ticket prices were not cheap and I left feeling like I was ripped off and taken advantage of. I would highly suggest that you do not attend this show next year unless you are going to see a child you know in the performance. read more

Great theater! Old and historic theater but kept clean and beautiful! Super great productions for a great price and Broadway quality! Incredibly amazing and an incredible location in downtown Stamford! My number 1 thing I wish they'll get is Hamilton on tour since it's an incredible show and is EXTREMELY popular on Broadway and I'm sure it'll sell out if they bring it on tour next year! Worth a visit and I wish they'll bring Hamilton on tour! read more
