Oh my. Whoever thought the salsa tastes like bell peppers must eat lava. Bad lava. Both salsas served with chips were fire. Gooood fire. The avocado cilantro jalapeno fought for first place with the awesome house salsa. They both had great depth of flavor and plenty of spice. Trust me, no bell peppers in sight. I'm a white girl, but a Texan.. sriracha, Tapatio (or Cholula jalapeno & poblano!), homemade quick and dirty salsa with El Pato, cilantro, RoTel and lime are my fave spice levels. My marg was passable, and tasty. No complaints. But y'all? Yk how some relleños are puffy, some are crispy, and some are eggy? I'm usually in between puffy and crispy - I add extra flour to my egg whites for more crunch - but I may be an eggy convert. My relleño with ground beef was a surprise.. it was covered in a thin queso sauce, and like a beef stuffed poblano in an omelette.. which was DELICIOUS. Seriously. This is why TexMex can be awesome. Topped with that house salsa and scooped into homemade flour tortillas.. wow. Seriously. So wow! I took leftovers home and had legit the best relleño/beans/rice burrito you could imagine. If you are looking for some good crawfish, PMR is the place to go during crawfish season! I definitely recommend the "Dirty Bay" sauce, it's the best and has just the right kick! The pineapple was also a great side with it. Service is always good and food comes pretty quick every time we go. Great family atmosphere, and the owner is pretty awesome too! read more

1 is the best your going to get . We came here for a nice birthday dinner . I should of opted for DQ and saved some money . The rice was very bland . Beans tasted right out of the can . None of us ate our beans as the flavor was gross. This restaurant must get a lot of visitor traffic because if I lived here I'd drive elsewhere or cook myself . Don't get the fish either . I get it don't order fish from a Mexican restaurant but it was over cooked and had no flavor not even salt . The chips tasted right from the bag .. Don't be fooled by the old menu from a year ago in one of the reviews..sour cream enchiladas went from 13.99 to 19.99 in one year .. please stop saying inflation . My husband and I have recently moved here and one of our favorite things is Mexican cuisine. We decided to try this restaurant and while I'll say the food was good and the quantity was acceptable. The service was good, but the young girl was at our table way to often. It's hard to eat when someone's constantly asking you. Are you OK? Are you OK. In a restaurant a waitress should be alert, but only approach the table if it appears that the customer needs something. However the prices are way over what they should be for what you receive now I understand why this place is not busy, it is way over priced. read more

Went there twice, first time was not busy, were waved from the back to seat ourselves yet when a white family came in they were greeted and seated immediately. They only have 2 breakfast items. Huevos Rancheros and Chorizo and egg. But were very good. Red salsa was good. Green sauce was meh. Second time was very busy, waited for about 10 minutes without acknowledging us. Green sauce was flavorless, Chile relleno was covered with EGG not egg/flour mix. Tried to like it but couldn't, pushed the egg aside. The chicken and vegetables were drowned in soy and teriyaki and came with Mexican rice instead of white rice like menu said. Sent it back and got spinach enchiladas which were good. We enjoyed the margaritas both times we went. The food on the menu is good, it is a very large menu Two of us did not care for the refried beans, but everything else was tasty. I am confused who our wait staff was, different people at different times helped us which was confusing The salsa is good, I wish the chips were softer or home made, they seem like out of a bag and not fresh. PMR had always been our go to spot when we come to Palacios, however this last visit the service was horrible we waited approximately 35 minutes for our order to be taken. When the food came out it was more comparable to a Patio frozen Mexican dinner than something made fresh. Please for dear god do not eat here. As an actual Mexican I couldn't even eat the dang salsa and chips. I wanted to throw up my enchiladas that were just sad nasty tacos with a whole container of cold sour cream and cheese on top headed in the microwave and my fathers Meal was so awful I could have sued! The shrimp wrapped in bacon tasted like they were from last year frozen in the corner finally heated in the microwave to kill someone! I can eat mexican food everyday, but this is difficult to swallow. The hot sauce and chips are the basis of how your visit will be....it was bland. Hot sauce was not even worth eating. No flavor and definitely not a bit of spice in it. The chips were bland but had a nice crisp to them. The main courses are all heat and serve. Nothing is cooked fresh here. Worth the drive into downtown from Hwy 35. We have eaten here several times from an extensive Mexican and Seafood recipe. Everything from the appetizer to full meals come from the kitchen wonderfully plated with a eye for detail. Even if special dietary needs are to be met, the wait staff and kitchen work together to make a beautiful plate. My husband eats Mexican Combination plates and I gravitate to Chicken or Fajitas. I skip the beans and rice for sliced avocado, and it was wonderful. Service was prompt and complete. Great place to frequent where the locals eat. read more

Two adults and two children. My first impression was that everyone there hates their job. No smiles, no greetings, just apathy. They brought two huge bowls of salsa (equal to at least 1.5 bottles of Pace) and two small bowls of Guac. I looked around the restaurant and this seems to be what they bring to every table. Of course we couldn't even finish half of one bowl. I wonder how much left over salsa actually gets thrown away. Not accusing, just being curious. When our food arrived the waitress actually told my wife "can you hurry up [and move your things off the table] because this plate is hot". Common sense would tell you to not pick up a hot plate unless you know there's a place to set it down. At the end of the meal she topped it off with a "Are you done"? I still tipped 20% because I felt sorry for her. Finally, the food was very bland and a couple of us didn't feel too well later that night. Do not go to this place for anything but the shrimp. Any dish with the shrimp will be a winner. It's not a very clean spot, and most of the other dishes are just "meh." But the shrimp is awesome and well priced! I think that during shrimping season, the shrimp must come directly from a boat to the kitchen to your plate - when you order it. It's that fresh. My husband and I are winter Texans (2015) and have been trying Mex cuisine throughout much of the Southwest and across Texas as we wound our way to Pelacios. PMR is by far the best we've found so far. We've been in Pelacios for 2 weeks and have eaten at PMR 4 times. We've tried the enchiladas, tamales, beef tips (tender and to die for) and taco salad. We have not been disappointed yet. My favorite is the chicken enchilada dinner. They make a meat sauce gravy to pour over the enchiladas and it is sooooo good. One reviewer complained about the beans but we both think they are really good. The pico de gallo is fresh and has something in it with a big old bite. This is good, consistently, and the wait sfaff are friendly and attentive. The price is not cheap but more moderate than expensive. Locals eat here a lot and that says something about how good it is. read more
